We had lunch two times at this Upper Crust. The first was good, but the second was mixed. Pizza was really good and the salad was great on the first visit. On the second visit, we had a vegetarian sub, which was very good. But the Stromboli Calzone was pretty poor. The cheese inside the calzone was not melted, which indicates it was put in there cold. But the most disturbing part of the calzone was the brown mustard they used in lieu of marinara sauce. It's a very curious choice and does not work at all. To be fair, the mustard ingredient was clearly stated on the menu. I should have asked for marinara, but didn't. The service was OK - no issues there. The place itself is nice, with a good patio. Pizza was really solid! After having 3 meals of New Mexican food, this was a nice change of pace. The shop is a really nice location with inside and outside seating. The inside was a little warm, so we decided to eat outside and caught a nice breeze. The crust was really delicious, nice and crispy. Portion of crust, sauce and toppings was perfect. Firstly this is maybe the most expensive pizza place I've ever seen in my life. They charge per topping so it would be easy to get a ridiculously priced pizza. For a hole in the wall place, for two people getting separate small pizzas expect to pay $45 plus tip. Crazy! Imagine if you got large?! You could go to Ruth's Chris for the price. It is over $2 per topping!! Mushrooms, onions, peppers, and a few more and your looking at $25 for a pizza the size on one you would get at an NFL game for less!! It's the pandemic and these guys delivered to La Posada till 9 when the entire city except Taco Bell closed at 8 pm. Not only did they saved us for dinner but they were exactly what we wanted anyways we realized as this 15 in pizza was AMAZING... crisp bottom crust and the sauce is zesty and Tangy too.
