The Rigatoni Alla Vodka was $28, but the pasta wasn't cooked al dente and felt overdone. The Carbonara, also $28, was disappointing as the eggs had curdled and the dish ended up being much oilier than I expected. At $18, the scampi was enjoyable, but overall I don't think the food justified the price point. One bright spot was the service. Our waitress was incredibly kind, checked in on us frequently, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. The restaurant itself is beautiful and has a very aesthetic design. I can definitely see why it's popular on social media. There is also outdoor seating, which I imagine would be a nice option on a warm summer evening. One thing I did notice, though, is how closely the tables are spaced together. Since the restaurant was mostly empty during our visit it wasn't an issue, but I could see it feeling crowded and fairly loud once the dining room fills up. I was honestly surprised by the meal because Gigi is part of the Mazi Restaurant Group, and I've really enjoyed some of their other concepts, especially Kava Neo-Taverna. Based on this experience, though, I think there are plenty of Italian restaurants in Boston that offer better food and better value for the same price. Overall, I'd give Gigi 3/5 stars. The service and atmosphere were both strong, but the food didn't live up to the pricing. If I came back, it would probably be for drinks, appetizers, and the ambiance rather than a full Italian dinner.

Perfect for a date night, dinner with a friend, or bringing your family. Kelcey was our server and she was fantastic (and was really good with kids!). Can't comment on parking as we walked there. Both were spot on. The pasta had this rich tomato sauce with burrata on top, really hearty and delicious. The wine pairing made it even better. Also got the oysters which were phenomenal. Honestly the bartenders made the whole night. Friendly, knew their stuff, and made a solo work trip dinner actually fun. Really nice vibe inside and will definitely be back next time I'm in Boston.

I love the Upper Crust. I love good pizza, I love bad pizza. I'm not that picky, but I can recognize when pizza is "crappy" pizza. I still love chewy, doughy crusts slathered in cheese, occasionally dipped in copious amounts of Ranch dressing. Judge me. That being said, I love the Upper Crust's thin pizza with sensible amounts of cheese, sauce, and all the toppings that you can get on it--I usually stick with spinach and roasted red peppers, and I can eat about half a pie by myself. Yes, it's expensive, but it's my favorite pizza joint in Boston by far. I've never had a bad pizza here. That being said, I docked a star for delivery. Once, my junior year of college, I ordered a pizza and was told that they didn't deliver to BC after 5 (it was around 5:30 or 6 at the time). I had to hike all the way down to Coolidge to pick up my now totally cold pizza, even though it would have taken them approximately 10 minutes to drive to BC. Did I mention it was February and it was freezing out? Yeah. Not cool. The pizza's fine reheated, but it's just not the same. Plus, it's not nearly as tasty when you're pissed off and bitter at wasting a good hour going to pick it up. Basically, skip the delivery, get some friends and go get a fresh pizza. I have tried and tried and now I'm tired tired. I frickin wanted to like Upper Crust, I must've attempted enjoying that shit like 10-15 times. My first experiences (about 5 years ago) were mostly tainted by the horrible delivery service. I used to be a veg and they would put mystery meat on my pizza that I didn't order. Or they'd be and hour late. They'd always give a lil sass on the phone while I was ordering... but the pizza was edible. Not SO greasy like the 1,001 greek style pizza places in the A-B area. A tad bit more gourmet, you know a smidge BAM or Matha Stew or Barefoot Contessa or something. Nowadays, my pizza is ALWAYS late and NEVER good. I ordered my last and final Upper Crusty last night. (Truth be told my last U C would have been about 2 months ago but they gave me 2 free pizzas for their last F-up and I can never pass up FREE even if its poo or mold or hot beer). Anyway, hard as a rock crust (and takes up half the slice), slim-to-none in the mushroom zone, anorexic sausage, cold and depressing. And I'm 4 months pregnant, you'd think I'd eat anything! See you later, me and my fetus are going elsewhere. read more

I've read some of the other reviews here with low ratings and I can see why they would review it as low as they did but I don't think it's a fair assessment. I like to review things based on alternatives. Was this good as opposed to the other pizza joint down the street? There are definitely things I would change about The Upper Crust (mainly my wait time) but all in all it is better than most pizza places frequented by quite a margin. The ingredients are quite good for a pizza, the different selections are inventive and unique. Staff is friendly and the decor is nice. It's not like one's ordering pizza at a gourmet top rated restaurant. It's a pizza joint. A good one at that. read more

Upper Crust definitely lives up to the hype! Whether it be the insane amount of options, the pizza itself, or the incredibly quick delivery, Upper Crust is just perfect. The only issue comes when deciding which Pizza to order. Since ordering with a group of four foodies, all with very diverse tastes, we settled on two small pies: an MGH (spinach, feta, and broccoli on a whole wheat pie) and a Tremont (my personal favorite, prosciutto, tomatoes, and garlic on a white pie). The pizza was perfectly thin, but at the same time, doughy with each bite. Sure the pies are a bit more expensive, but its definitely worth it. Great thin crust pizza, and free delivery to the immediate area until a fairly late hour (I think thirty minutes before closing time). Their variety is great, and the pizzas are all freshly made, with a really great chunky tomato sauce. I was somewhat disappointed by their white pizzas, but if you're looking for a slightly different flavor, I'd recommend the pesto pizzas. Also, a small word of warning, the delivered pizzas are often cold, and the thin crust makes it hard to reheat without burning (or maybe I'm not skilled enough with my oven). I'd also recommend eating at the location, it's very small but cozy, and they serve beer to go with your pizza. Great place! read more

Disappointed. Despite ordering a small salad and pasta and specifically asking about the wait time due to my time constraints, I was told it would take about 10 minutes. In order to show my appreciation for a speedy service, I gave a generous tip. However, after 17 minutes (as indicated by my transaction time), I inquired about the status of my order and the cashier argued about the time of my order and failed to provide a timeline for when it would be ready. The pizza is not great. It won't hurt you, but there are many much better places in Boston- Most recently Ottos. I would give two stars if it wasn't for the owners being scumbags without the integrity to pay their employees the wages they deserve for 80+ hour workweeks while they go out and buy personal yachts and planes. It saddens me that such miserable human beings can be so successful- but I guess that is the way of the world. I just know I won't be personally contributing to their success. read more

Uppa... even if you think you don't want pizza, you'll find yourself singing a different tune once you taste it. The crust is nice - thin and crispy but holds well, the sauce is rife with chunky and not too seasoned tomatoes, and the cheese is either perfectly melty or a little crisp, depending on your mood (magic!). I won't eat any other pizza in this town, except for the original Regina's, and I won't order it for delivery - go pick it up, it's that good. read more

I used to like their pizza, but lately I've found that their pizza is just ok. I got the Portabella Mushroom pie the other day and it just didn't do it for me. The flavor was bland and it didn't really taste as fresh as before. Perhaps lately they have been expanding too fast (Waltham, South End, etc.) and neglected to put more effort into their pies. I might go back to have a slice or two, but definitely would not go out of my way to order from them. read more

I've had the longest battle between whether I should choose upper crust or ottos but honestly it comes down to the urgency of my order. I find upper crust takes a bit longer to make my order, but it's a higher quality in my opinion while ottos gets my order faster but I feel it's at a lower quality. I used to come here fairly often, and Upper Crust is a generally pretty quick and reliable option for a quick slice or order of spinach squares, but had such a horrible experience with the woman working the register I've swore the place off. The garlicky thin-crust pizza is some of the best in Boston. All aspects of it are great, except for the following: - crowded street parking - expensive (extra toppings & drinks add up quickly) - crowded small restaurant The best deal is to get it to go and have someone wait outside while you run in to get the pie. Honestly always walked passed this place and wondered how it could exist across the street from an Otto. There was a truly shocking multi-part series in the Boston Globe about how viciously the Upper Crust exploits its Brazilian workers--it's almost to the point of indentured servitude. The wood-fired crust was excellent, with that perfect combination of crispy edges, a little char, and a soft, chewy center. The Meatball & Ricotta was hearty and flavorful, and the creamy ricotta balanced the meatballs really well. The Sausage & Onion was another winner, really tasty and well executed. The Honey Bacon Bianca was probably the most interesting of the three and definitely stood out. The salty, smoky bacon with the sweetness from the honey was a great combination, especially on a white pizza. Sharing a few different pizzas is definitely the way to go here because you get to try a little bit of everything. Fun atmosphere, really good wood-fired pizza, and a place I'd happily come back to next time I'm in Brookline.

We ordered one large buffalo chicken ranch pizza and in less than an hour, it was delivered. First impressions: The pizza looked pretty good, I'm not gonna lie! Slices were HUGE & the flavor was very good. It's was unexpectedly tasty; I say this because pizza places that are open late are hit or miss. The only thing that I wasn't a fan of was the temperature of the pizza. It was room temperature haha. The flavor was really delicious though.
