The pizza is usually very good: crispy thin crust and fresh ingredients. The place is a bit small for large families so we usually end up doing take-out (which means the crust isn't quite as crispy). Awful. We had order a small buffalo chicken pizza and there were 19 small diced pieces of chicken on the pizza. According to the person answering the phone. Upper Crust Pizza switched from hired drivers to doordash service. This was idiotic corporate thinking at its worst. It does not appear to have been thought out at all Beyond the Excel spreadsheet that spawned the idea. What was normally passable for the premium price charged but efficiently delivered becomes unacceptable when it's an hour late and Stone Cold. From time to order to delivery was an hour and 45 minutes, on a Wednesday. Two companies trashed their reputations tonight, Upper Crust Pizza and doordash, a marriage made in hell. Bad enough that Domino's now seems like viable competition based solely on the time value of money, and the hell your family might give you if they're waiting 45 extra minutes for dinner. read more

I order delivery. Past 3-4 times, it has been quite bad. Cold or lukewarm. Undercooked. Not crispy like it used to be. Used to be good. But recently no good. Maybe they changed cooks? I can't believe that would be the problem because the difference in quality is huge. My experience is based on deliveries. A slice of cheese at the restaurant usually is fine, but nothing special. Overall, I wouldn't spend the money on this overpriced option. Just order a run of the mill pizza delivery place. What a pleasant surprise!! I had found this joint on Yelp but asked the front desk of my hotel who they recommend and they came up with the same. The large pizza is enormous, the sauce tasted homemade and the very thin crust is tasty. I prefer lumps of sausage to slices but that is a personal preference. This is a standard lunch stop for me. The slices for lunch are resonably priced for their size and they serve them quickly. The crust is thin, crisp and has a decent chew and they put enough toppings on to get some in every bite. I just wish there was free parking at this location. That was by far the worst dining out experience I've had in a long time. Waited 40 minutes for a salad, the front desk guy CLEARLY forgot even though I reminded him twice, rushes out as we're putting our coats on, "Oh...do you want this to go?" yeah, no kidding. He packed up the wrong salad but whatever, least of my frustrations with them. Food is not worth the price. Everyone else in the restaurant was pissed at how long everything was taking. Great food! This place is small but the pizza is awesome. Since I only had take out so I can't comment on the service side of things. We had upper crust in Newburyport and the Pizza was really good as well. It has a parking lot near by so parking "should" not be an issue. The pizza is good - especially prosciutto pizza. They can add any toppins to it. I don't like their calzone though - It has way too much cheese in it and not enough meat. Also, most of their their establisments are very dirty and the bathrooms as well except the one from Comm Ave across from BU. I would expect them a little bit cleaner especially since they sell food. I give them a 4 star because I like their thin crust pizza a lot but they need to clean the bathrooms. They also give you free water with lemon which can be warm at times. read more

I ordered pizzas for delivery twice from this place. I called for delivery on the first order and second time, I used online order. Both time after waiting for an hour and half, I had to call them to check on the order status. Then the guy told me that the order was not taken and then started to make it and deliver an hour later. One time I can understand, but twice in a row, I felt like they intentionally do that to customers to come in and pick up, instead of delivery. Very rude attitude and no apologies at all. I like Upper Crust pizza and I've had a good experience with both dine-in and takeout service. They regularly have Groupons and I don't think I'd go here as often if the Pizza was full price because I think it's too much for what it is. I'm a fan. Creativity is the name of the game here, traditional pizza, not it. The Pizza I ordered was topped with bacon, jalapenos and pineapple (The Uncommon). Their crust is thin, super thin. I've ordered several times and the pizzas have always been consistently made. If you like something a little different, and are up for an adventure in your pizza eating experience then this place hits the spot. We came hungry, eleven of us ranging in ages from 3-55. We preferred six pizzas--each was fabulous. The thin crust left more room in our stomachs for trying different kinds of slices. Jugs of ice water rounded out our meal. It was simple, easy, unfussy, and just what we needed. The Harvard Street and the goat veggie pizzas were my favorites--the menfolk enjoyed a personal creation of bacon, sausage, and roasted garlic. We are from Portland OR and picky about food. What is up with this company? Do they like getting bad review and negative press? I got hungry this afternoon, and yelped around trying to find a place that would deliver, since I had some things to do around the house. Most of the Waltham places won't deliver to me because I am too far away. So, I thought I'd try Upper Crust, since they are only 2.5 miles away, basically on the same road I live on, and I find their pizza at least edible. This was 4:30. As soon as I gave my address as in Waltham I could hear this whole conversation "Oh no, we don't deliver to Waltham, blah, blah.." I cut in, explaining that It was literally a 4 or 5 minute drive away, right on the Lexington border, closer than a lot of places in Lexington, and that I would really appreciate it and tip well. Someone agreed to do it, but said that it might be 45 or 50 minutes. Ok, I said. Great. And waited, and waited. I finally called after and hour and 20 minutes, and asked politely if they knew where my pizza had gone to. They said it should be on its way and to call back in 20 minutes if it still wasn't there. The guy on the phone laughed and said "We got a huge rush, sorry" Ok, I was thinking, but I called you at 4:30 on a Saturday afternoon. Who on earth takes that long to deliver a pizza during early-early bird hours? I see that several of the bad reviews for Upper Crust are about the ridiculously long waiting times. Listen, owners, you're not fooling anyone. We all know that pizza takes a very short time to cook, and you never look all that busy there. Why is something that pretty much any other pizza place that delivers in the country has figured out, i.e. how to deliver pizza to people in a reasonable amount of time, proven to be so very difficult for you? Sorry, I should say, my pizza did finally arrive, and the delivery guy was nice, but still, I feel the need to let you know you have lost a customer because of this. Just ridiculous. Don't believe the hype of this place. I have gluten allergies and understand that its a little extra to prepare gluten free pizza, but holy hell is it outrageously overpriced here! Like its simply PIZZA, its not some fancy feast at the Ritz Carlton. I was so disappointed after hearing good things about this place. And to top it off, everybody is guilt tripped in the beginning to leave a tip if you're paying with a charge card. Haha really?!?! The prices by itself wont encourage anyone to leave tips. Came in about 45 minutes before closing and the service was amazing. Everyone was eager to help us and didn't give us pressure to take our food to go. The salad was HUGE and fresh. The pizza was made to order and so good! I ordered the white pizza. Husband ordered the Greek salad. Wine was served in a nice cold glass.
