    El Turco Omelete
    Crysthel L.

Very disappointed with my experience at Upstreet Diner. I ordered the "El Turco" omelet platter expecting an actual chorizo omelet, but instead got what was basically a red pepper paste with tiny traces of meat. There was no real chorizo or actual meat in the omelet at all. I even asked if they forgot the chorizo, and they told me it was "under the avocado." They brought out a small extra side, and that's when I realized they considered that red paste with barely any meat to be the chorizo. Overall, a very mediocre plate and not what was advertised or expected. I don't think I'll be eating here again, and if I do, I definitely won't order this again.

The diner is chill, noise level is great, and the atmosphere is relaxing. Service was good as well; our waitress was laid-back. The restaurant serves Arabic food and dishes from Jerusalem. The deluxe shakshuka was the best shakshuka I've had so far. I picked the lamb and beef sausage, which was delicious, and the sourdough bread that came with it was excellent. I also like that they have decaf coffee with free refills. Prices were affordable, and the portions were just right. Overall, it was a great experience, and I'll definitely be coming back. As a side note, on-street parking can take some time to find since Squirrel Hill tends to be busy, but we eventually find one that's a block away.

When I heard Pamela's Diner was closing in Squirrel Hill, my heart sank--it was such a huge part of my childhood. But learning that Chef Bener Ozen, the talent behind Café Moulin, was opening Upstreet Diner in its place? I knew instantly the space was in GOUD hands. Chef Ozen brings warmth and creativity to everything he touches, and Upstreet is no exception. From the moment you walk in, you feel like you're being welcomed to his own family table--just like he intends. The menu is fresh, thoughtful, and beautifully European-inspired, with something for every brunch mood. I had the Shady French Toast--topped with Nutella, strawberries, dark chocolate, and a heavenly side of whipped cream. Stephanie went for the Avocado Toast, stacked with greens, Israeli salad, and the most delicious pomegranate drizzle. My brother tried the Breakfast Pita (pro tip: add the chicken shawarma and hollandaise aioli!)--a vibrant, savory combo that left him raving. Upstreet isn't just a new chapter for this corner of the neighborhood--it's a celebration of community, flavor, and family. Bener's passion shows in every detail, and we are so lucky to have him right here in the heart of Squirrel Hill. All #GOUDapproved

Very yummy spot for brunch in the heart of squirrel hill!! Place is very spacious and the menu has a middle eastern / european flair to it that sets it apart from other brunch spots. Food is delicious! And they had good coffee

It's a nice restaurant with very less vegetarian options. I tried this falafel sandwich which tasted decent 3.5/5 but the service is too slow. Atmosphere is chill and relaxed.

Delicious food and attentive service. I came on a Sunday morning. Brought my dog and they allowed us to sit on the outdoor patio. The menu has a bunch of nice sounding items for brunch. Sweet, savory, healthy. The coffee was good but they were lacking in flavoring syrups. Still, very much enjoyed my meal. Inside the restaurant and the bathroom were clean and comfortable as well.

All around nice brunch destination. We ordered takeout, and everything was fairly well packaged (though bringing along some reusable bags for transport was helpful). The salads were well-presented with fresh ingredients and nice pairings of specific dressings for each salad. The various pita-with-toppings combinations are filled with a good blend of ingredients but somewhat awkward to work with: is this intended to be eaten as a wrap or with a knife and fork? Unclear. Neither option seemed optimal. The omelettes are good but seem more like a mini-frittata than an omelette (which is more of an observation than a problem). The shakshuka is an easy win with plenty of spiced tomato sauce and good flavors. I definitely suggest ordering the harissa sauce on the side (for just about everything). In terms of the experience, I didn't spend much time in the restaurant but it's a nice space in a convenient location. My order was ready exactly when it was supposed to be, and the staff were completely on top of the takeout situation. All told, it was a good experience with good food.

SERVICE: I wish to offer transparency that this is not my genre of food. The restaurant offers a European menu, I went with the most Americanized item on the menu for breakfast. Nice vibe inside and outdoor seating is also provided. Server seemed fine, a bit blank in the face, but polite. Upstreet was selected because it appeared clean, reasonably priced and close in walking distance. FOOD: I went with the French toast which was a bit rough. Basic loaf bread. Too sweet. As a breakfast chunky, I could have made that at home and wasn't impressed. My mother on the other hand enjoyed her chicken shawarma bowl. WELL: I don't see myself returning

We loved the outdoor patio seating area since the weather was nice. It is a much more casual place where you find your own table but the server came by and the food came quick. Each dish was affordable and came with a good amount of food.

I was looking for a place to grab brunch after a run and I found this spot. It's very cute and spacious. I got to seat myself as it was not super busy the day I went. I ordered the monte Cristo which had some apricot spread. It was better than I expected and I would order it again. The staff was very friendly throughout my time there.

Had a nice family lunch here the other day. My 3-year old enjoyed a halloumi sandwich (part of the Cyprus plate) in one of her first restaurant meals. Service was pretty quick which also helped her not become too impatient. I got the salmon omelette which was huge (with salmon on it but not in it; interesting take). The side potatoes are very crispy and delicious. They pay a nice homage to Pamela's which used to occupy this space.

Very nice place! They predominantly serve breakfast food, but they also have some more substantial meals they offer for lunch, as well as salads and such. Predominantly a Mediterranean and American place. I got to try out their chicken pita. The chicken pita was essentially a chicken shawarma with a pita. The food was super fresh, especially the vegetables. So crisp and light. The sauces they used also added a ton of flavor, with some creaminess, a little sweetness, and overall just adding that extra punch. I especially like the red sauce they use (although I'm not entirely sure what it is). The chicken itself, though, was not as good. It was too fatty and also didn't seem anywhere near as fresh as the vegetables did. The pita they served it with was pretty great and helped mask the slightly below par chicken. All in all, a nice place to get a healthy breakfast or lunch. I would want to come back to try some of the sweet items or the classic breakfast dishes.

Came back again for family reunion. The meal was so delicious that I forgot to take pictures before I started eating. Their service is lovely. They do play some music inside but it wasn't too loud.

The Speckled Egg provided the upscale and elevated breakfast, that was a nice contrast to the rustic and local breakfast we had the next day. Our waitress was friendly and professional. After some deliberation, I went with a bowl that included eggs, chicken sausage, sweet potatoes and a nice garnish of dill. The dill surprisingly elevated the whole dish. My wife enjoyed an omelette. He was courteous, well spoken and friendly. We sat there for about 10-12 minutes. No one approached the table. We looked over to what appeared to be a bar area and we saw two servers standing there talking and showing each other their phones. My wife said, "With our luck, one of those two is our server." Sure enough, when they were finally done talking, one came over to our table....no smile and a big audible sigh. She asked what we wanted to drink, we gave our order and she returned with our beverages. After another 10 minute wait she came back to take our order. When asked about a certain dish, came another big sigh, eye roll and and a rote description of said dish. The food arrived and one of the orders was wrong. Another wait to get her attention. We asked for the item to be redone as we had ordered it. And she even asked how we wanted it! You got it...another eye roll and a big sigh. At least she was well oxygenated! The dish came back with the very same results. On that issue we gave up. Then came the wait for the check. Once again the two servers were chatting, no heads turned to check on their tables. My son went over to get the check. When the check arrived, it was attitude city. She accused us of picking on her because she was only a server. It's obviously how she saw herself. We then asked for the manager who was quick to side with the server. She said that nothing seemed to satisfy us and that we had a problem. IN SHARP CONTRAST. I have been to the Speckled Egg on the South Side many times. From the Host/Hostess to the servers to the bus staff, everyone had a smile, chatted with their customers, laughed and it was always a great experience. The manager came over since he recognized me from being there many times and we chatted for a minute. We are talking Night and Day. Completely two different experiences from server to management styles. To me there is only one Speckled Egg and one complete waste of time (Downtown).

The cool vibe restaurant is tucked away up a short flight of stairs on Filbert Street. It gives the place a cozy, hideaway feel with brick walls and murals. She appeared overwhelmed by her role and was not warm. We were actually told by the waiters that "she is serious about her list". Which would be great if she managed it effectively. When I brought concerns that we had been pushed down the list 3 times for other parties. She responded "well, how do you know that" to which I responded "we watched you take their names down after ours and sit them before us".
