Finally got to try this place as it opened up with the plaza here. Food/vibe reminds me of a jacks urban eats. Came on a weekday evening and it wasn't too busy. You can order from the kiosk or from the cashier when you walk in. Food itself was really good. The chicken and Brussels had a good flavor and I really liked my shrimp dish. You get to choose two sides with your entree. It's a self seating arrangement with a condiment station and a water tank that's shaped like a giant jug with a sink. Really cool design. Thought the portion size was a little small but it was okay. The parking can be a nightmare since there's so many stores in the plaza and not enough spaces. There's a few other items in the menu I would try but not too bad overall.

We came here randomly recently and we were pleasantly surprised. Online ordering was not working. Inside was clean and lots of options for seating inside or out. We managed to make an order on DoorDash, service was quick. They had everything bagged, drinks included. Food was very good and not heavy. We enjoyed the evening with our quick healthy pick up! Urban Plates offers quick, reasonably priced, healthy food with high quality ingredients (i.e., organic, cage-free, grass-fed). It's part of The Davis Collection, the remodeled shopping plaza with Trader Joe's, Ulta Beauty, PetSmart, and Nordstrom Rack on Russell Blvd. Urban Plates opened on October 20, 2025. Spacious, nicely appointed dining room. The restaurant reminded me of Jack's Urban Eats. There's an EAT GOOD neon sign with a bicycle mounted on the wall. The wheels of the bicycle form the double O's. Davis is known as a bicycling community. You order in front from an employee or using a self-service kiosk. You grab a number and seat yourself. Staff will bring food to your table. I ordered Chimichurri Grass Fed Steak Plate with Sesame Broccolini and Herb Roasted Marble Potatoes. Except for the dry piece of grilled bread, everything was cooked properly. You don't even have to specify your desired doneness for the steak: It just comes out perfectly cooked. However, I didn't like the seasoning for any of my plate items, so next time, I would order everything plain. I would skip the $1 Chimichurri Sauce upgrade. I would order the Simply Steamed Broccolini because the sesame oil was too dominant a flavor. The Herb Roasted Marble Potatoes had too much salt and too strong of herbs on the outside of the potatoes. If you cut the potatoes up and mix them around, that helps to balance the seasonings. I liked that the potatoes were multicolored. Menu is appealing. There should be something for everyone. Make sure to check out the weekly Chef Spotlight specials menu. Dessert menu and Beverages menu look promising: Hummingbird Cake, Banana Cream Pie, Mango Tart, Pineapple Coconut Lime Replenisher, the seasonal Strawberry Basil Lemonade, and the seasonal Watermelon Pineapple Mint Basil Replenisher.

Urban Plates? More like Urban Greats! First of all... the chili glazed tofu is absolutely on point. Whoever came up with that recipe deserves a raise... and maybe a trophy. And let's talk about the strawberry basil lemonade... ohhhh weee! That drink is so refreshing it felt like summer and a tropical vacation had a baby. Sweet, crisp, with that perfect hint of basil--I would've happily ordered another before I even finished the first one. The Davis location is in a fantastic spot downtown, and the atmosphere was exactly my kind of place. It has this bright, open, greenhouse-style vibe that makes you want to relax, stay awhile, and pretend you're healthier than you actually are. The staff? Absolutely wonderful. They welcomed us like we were regulars who'd been coming there for years. A special shout-out to Nikki and Luis for their incredible customer service! You both made the experience even better with your kindness, positive energy, and genuine hospitality. If you're in Davis and looking for delicious food, refreshing drinks, and a place that'll make you feel right at home, Urban Plates is definitely worth the visit. Five red-and-white Yelping stars from me! I'll definitely be back... and yes, I'll probably be thinking about that lemonade the entire drive home.

Wow!! Such a cool place to check out. We came here for my mom's birthday dinner and this place did NOT disappoint. So many food options on the menu, the food comes out super fast and taste so fresh and flavorful, and it's plated so beautifully, like a fancy restaurant. The ambiance is super chill and low key, the music is spot on, it's just perfect. And the staff, they are all super friendly, they welcomed us immediately as we walked in. Brooklyn and India deserved to be recognized as they were very friendly and welcoming. There was another staff member staff who brought us out our drinks but we didn't catch her name but she was also super helpful, We used the kiosk to order which is nice too. Definitely stop by and check them out, you'll be so glad you did.

I am so glad I tried this place. I've heard friends say positive things before but it really surprised me how good the place was. You pick and main item and two side items. The had a good variety of selections for the side items. The Chimichurri Steak was perfectly cooked and seasoned. The beet salad was refreshing. And those Truffle fries were excellent! I was surprised about the generous portions given the price. It was very affordable for high quality food. Semi casual spot. You order at the counter, they give you a numbered placard and then they deliver the food to you. My only complaint is the parking. This is a very busy shopping center with a lot of stores and not enough parking.

Fresh homemade style plates.! Service was great we actually ordered to go at the kiosks. The ambiance was nice and they had outdoor seating. This is definitely a place we will be coming back to. The food was so flavorful and the wait wasn't too long so it was perfect for a night of dinner after a long day at the lake.

I was tempted to try the burger but went the healthy route of a salad with steak. Wife had the beef with mashed potatoes. Service: Awesome! Having hospitality experience, this is what you are looking for. Friendly, patient and can guide you through the menu options. Ambiance: Clean and modern and lots of seating. We went to the Davis location-come thru and eat! You won't regret it! We'll be back for the next few Sundays.

We had such a great experience when we came over the weekend. Ordering is so simple. You just place your order at the kiosk and that's it. There's plenty of seating inside the restaurant as well as outside on the patio. Our food orders came out relatively quickly. Let me tell you it was all so very delicious. This review is based on a catered order. The steak sandwich looked pale and rare, but it was surprisingly tender and tasty. The house salad was ordinary, but the vinaigrette and pickled onions elevated the greens. I would try this place if I'm around.

I came here with some friends for brunch on a sunday, and we stayed for a while just talking, which made for a nice experience. We sat in the patio outside. it was nice and quiet considering that's its next to one of the main roads in davis. The service style is the one where you order at the front first, then they give you a table flag and bring the food out to you. You also handle things like water, condiments, and utensils yourself. The roast chicken was pretty decent. Nothing crazy, but good. The caesar salad was good too, and overall the food felt fresh and healthy. The fries were fine, felt like they were battered or at the least seasoned One interesting thing is that they rotate specials through the menu every week encouraging you to try something new Overall, it was a solid experience. Nothing to write home about, but nothing to complain about either. The food tasted healthy, and I felt pretty good afterward.

Just don't come here in a rush. The servers were nice. Ambiance: there are shared tables and an outdoor patio. I came on a really cold night and didn't want to sit outside. There wasn't enough seating for my party of 4 inside. We had to sit separately during our meal. That's the only disappointing part. Otherwise, I will be back.

My husband and I were intrigued by Urban Plates since it's been all over our social media lately, so we stopped by for lunch. We got the braised short ribs and the braised beef. He said his short ribs were super tender and gave them an 8/10. I gave mine a 7.8 because I expected a few more veggies in my bowl (as described on their menu), but the flavor was really good and the beef was so tender. I usually don't even like mashed potatoes, but theirs were creamy and delicious. Portions were generous too we had to take some home. Oh, and that garlic hot sauce they have? So good, definitely try it with the bowls. Chenel was great and made sure we were taken care of. Loved the chill vibes here, even though it was pretty busy earlier. Just okay. I can see how this would be a good option for a health conscious college student. Otherwise, there are better local options. Brussel sprouts - very hard, bland. In my opinion, roasting the brussel sprouts until tender with some purple onions to caramelize would make a good combo! :) Carrots/beets side - mostly carrots, which were quite crunchy. Steak - chewy, tendony, but grill flavor was ok. Quinoa - wet and did not taste pleasant. Potatoes - cooked nicely but unpleasant herbs. Asparagus - soggy and unpleasant seasoning. I feel this would be better sautéed in olive oil and garlic. Gluten free bread - surprisingly good! I never have high hopes for gluten free bread, but I enjoyed it. Flourless chocolate cake - delicious!!! My favorite part of the meal. read more

First of all, they have a membership that you can join to get 20% off of your purchase and that, along with a great menu keeps me coming back two or three times a week. I am not a tech person, at all, but when I go in I look for Nikki or Benji to help me. They are incredibly kind and help me in a way that I don't feel like I am a dummy, and they ALWAYS take as much time as I need. They make good recommendations on their menu and I have never been disappointed. I love the decor there, it makes me feel like a hipster, even though I am a handicapped senior citizen, just in a world of college students. And I always get a cookie! If you go there, look for Benji or Nikki, you will feel like royalty. read more

The service is great! While you place your order yourself or at the register the service is always friendly. Alexa is one of our favorite servers. Alexa is always friendly and I never seem to have an empty drink glass. There are couple of other people I wish I could remember their names, they are great as well. Even though it's not the "traditional" set up for a full service restaurant. It feels like the perfect in between. Really nice meals and do not skip dessert! So happy to have a place like this in Davis. Keep up the good work! read more

The food was alright, and I was really looking forward too my meal especially for its prices. Me personally it's on the pricier side which obviously makes sense since it's steak and shrimp, but I just wish there to be more in steak. Food was fine, inside was beautiful and made me feel rich, and staff were very sweet. I had a small interaction with staff joking around and I can always appreciate a good moment like that. read more

Tenisha helped me during my visit and was super friendly and welcoming, which made a great first impression for a new location. My lunch came in just under $30, so it's definitely on the pricier side for a sandwich-and-soup lunch. That said, everything tasted fresh and high quality, with plenty of protein and vegetables, and the pricing seems pretty comparable to the other options in this newly updated shopping area. Overall, this was a great first visit. The food was fresh, delicious, and felt like a healthier lunch option without sacrificing flavor. I've been waiting for Mendocino Farms to open and went a little out of my way to finally try it, and it was absolutely worth the trip. I'll definitely be back.

The selection is vast and really offers so much for both experienced and new converts to tinned fish. Mabel's is THE place to come to for your picnicking needs. I just visited the restaurant today! I was excited to try it because the online menu looked pretty good. We ordered two drinks, and that was the beginning of the downfall. The strawberry lemonade wasn't too bad, but it definitely tasted mostly like a "hint" of basil, with not much of a lemonade flavor at all. The pineapple coconut drink was atrocious. It had an almost sour, acid-like taste. That being said, maybe that's just our preference, and other people might enjoy those drinks. Let's move on to the food...we ordered two plates. The crispy jumbo chicken tenders plate had so many things wrong with it. We ordered it with bread, which was pretty burnt, along with two sides. The breading on the chicken was somehow burnt on the outside and still raw on the inside. The texture of the breading was both dry and doughy, which made it very unappetizing. One of the sides ordered with this plate was mac and cheese, which was alright but very watery. The other side was tomato soup, which was the best thing out of our entire experience. The other plate we ordered was the sustainable salmon. It was okay, a little on the burnt side, and the burnt parts had a charred taste that some people may like, but I wasn't a fan, especially since it didn't look that burnt in the menu photo. We also got bread with this plate, and that was burnt as well. The sides we chose for this plate were tomato soup and fries. The fries were already cold, not even warm, when they were brought to the table. Holy SMOKES. People, this restaurant is next level. 1. the ambiance was great. It felt so lovely to come in and feel like you're in a cozy space, but know that there's plenty of seating. I loved that they had a long table in the middle for either large parties, or for several small groups. 2. Loved the food. They had a menu specifically to highlight allergens. It made it so easy to order. Also, you can order on your phone and have it delivered right to your table. No waiting in line or anything. 3. I cannot stress this enough, the service was UNBELIEVABLE. It happened to be my birthday and I was wearing a birthday hat. One of the employees, Nikki saw my hat, and came over and wished me a happy birthday. My roommates and I sat in for a wonderful late lunch during their complimentary training program experience prior to opening day. Even on the patio, the ambiance was sublime, complete with a tiny succulent on our table. The food was delicious and the employees were very accommodating and sociable. We specifically want to thank Jade for being very welcoming and understanding when taking our order by taking time to explain each of the menu items. We were also greeted by Francesca with some delectable replenisher samples. Comfortable urban-inspired design serving a mix of sandwiches and wraps, salads and choose your own adventure plates (protein and sides). Went to their pre-dining event....absolutely amazing food but quite honestly what sold it for me was the service. They got this dude that works there named Manuel. Top 5 humans of all time if i'm being completely honest. If i needed water, Manuel would know before I even knew I was thirsty and would already be behind me pouring me a glass. His energy was just astounding truly. Another all star of the roster gotta be Benji. BENJI. If there was a mount rushmore of people on the planet, he'd be on there FOR SURE. Killer personality, such a friendly individual, and made me and my mates laugh so hard I almost threw up my food which would've been a crime considering how yummy the food was. You can tell they use quality ingredients -- everything tasted clean and well-seasoned without feeling heavy. I love that there are healthy options that still feel like comfort food. What really made the visit stand out though was the service. Chenel was absolutely amazing. She was warm, attentive, and genuinely kind from the moment we walked in. What really stood out though was the service. Nikki did an exceptional job welcoming us in and made the entire ordering process feel easy and comfortable. We had such a great dinner at Urban Plates tonight! The food was fresh, flavorful, and came out quickly, but what really made the experience stand out was the staff. So I don't really leave reviews, nor do I use yelp but after coming here I don't mind opening an account and leave a review about me and my daughter's first experience here. At the front end Nikki was very patient with me and my daughter on looking at the menu and offered my daughter samples of the refreshers they have. i an a huge meat critic, i lovee having meat in my mouth. to be honest it is rare to see a place at this price serve steak that is cooked that well. I went to the pre opening event with my friends and everything was so wonderful!! Jade took our order and Chenel checked on us while we ate. Both were so friendly and enthusiastic and welcoming. The food was absolutely delish and good sized portions. I got the half club sandwich with tomato basil soup and truffle fries. 10/10 experience super easy to order and they bring the food right to your table. I got the surf and turf and it was amazing 100% would recommend. I came here since it had some healthy lunch options. When you walk in you can immediately order at a kiosk, which there are 2 of. Also a counter if you want but I did the kiosk. Was a little confusing as far as the number system but since it wasn't too busy it was okay. Staff helped clear my table and it is a nice study spot. You go up to the counter to order and pay, they give you a number to put on your table and the food will come to your table. The potatoes come with a little sauce tin of ketchup on the side. I wish each table had ketchup so you could use as much ketchup to your heart's desire without bugging someone.

I told him I was already handling it and redirecting my son, but as he walked away he started cursing under his breath, using foul language that was clearly audible right next to my child. There is no excuse for swearing like that in front of a three‑year‑old, especially when the unsafe cord was left out in the open by the restaurant in the first place. Whether or not my son is autistic, families should never be subjected to hostility and foul language from the owner of a restaurant. If you offer outdoor seating and leave cords and other hazards accessible, you should expect children to be curious and respond with basic courtesy, not anger. The food itself was mediocre, and after that interaction it honestly didn't matter. This was supposed to be a special birthday outing, and his attitude and language completely ruined it.

And if you still have doubts and want to be stupid, check other reviews consistent with this. You've been warned. And they don't seem to care.
