Came here today for Thanksgiving. A lot of people ordered to go. The Thanksgiving Plate was great! And the manager, Michael Morgan, or was it the executive chef, Eugene Taylor (?), greeted us personally. What a nice fellow! Service is friendly, especially on a holiday . Fresh ingredients, homemade taste. Cranberry sauce is a bit tart, as it was fresh and homemade with orange zest. I like the fact that the food wasn't drenched in fat, cream, and oil. This is a really nice place to go to. The inside of it is well designed and I also like the menu layout. I was speculating much with the replenishers since they all look good, which is the reason why I want to try one of them. The Nashville Chicken Tenders are really spicy, which made me drink a lot of water. Honestly, I wish there are spice levels to them. The portion of the French fries are just right and the beet salad tastes good. I was expecting to see more goat cheese around the beets. This place is pricey, but they serve the right portions. Amazing!! Today, me and my friends came in before the movies. One of my friends was having a bad day and was crying. After I ordered the cashier, (with dreadlocks and a beard, I did not get his name, I apologize) came over and gave us all free cookies and her a milk as well. My partner and I both got the surf & turf dish on a Sunday evening. For my two sides, I selected with chipotle garlic roasted potatoes and roasted mushrooms (with garlic parmesan butter). Omg, I cleaned my plate, everything was so good! The steak was cooked medium rare and had so much flavor, no need for any sauce, and that shrimp was so buttery. The seasoning on the mushrooms and roasted potatoes was delicious and consistency of these side items was just right. The best meal is when it's so satisfying but you don't feel fat or guilty after eating it... that's what they offer here! Add to that quick and friendly service and a lovely, clean and modern setting (with indoor and outdoor seating), I just may become a regular at Urban Plates after my experience this past weekend. read more

This review is from Sunday 6/29/2025 around 1pm for the Urban Plates in Dublin, CA. This was our first time trying Urban Plates. Food: Mixed Beet Salad and the Braised Beef and Mushrooms with Potatoes were excellent and full of flavor. The kids steak plate (with side mac and cheese) was so-so. While the mac and cheese was "the best mac and cheese I have ever had," the steak was chewy and tough to eat, though flavorful. Couldn't really even swallow it since it was so chewy. It's because of the chewy steak that we give the restaurant 4 stars and not 5 stars. Service: There was a short line at the counter. It was short because the large group ahead of us, who was ordering and paying separately in mini-groups, was serviced by an additional cashier/order taker. The cashier processed our order in a timely fashion and it was accurate. After paying and seating ourselves, the food arrived in a timely manner. After finishing our food, the staff took our empty plates. The staff was pleasant. No complaints. 5 stars for service. No one else came to the table to check on us, but that was fine since we had everything we needed. Water cups were self-serve, as well as getting the utensils and napkins. Because a lot of it was self-serve, we did not leave a giant tip which we gave when we ordered and paid with the cashier. This is great for families who are on a budget and we like this concept for dining out. Ambiance: Tables were clean, the decorations on the wall and the lights were interesting. Simple yet stylish. Desserts were in a glass window at the counter to admire. Menu on the wall was easy to read. 5 stars for ambiance. read more

I used be a big fan of urban plate before the pandemic. Unfortunately they permanently closed the face to face chef ordering system. I couldn't see the freshness of ingredients and the process of preparing my food. Last night, I ordered the Asian noodles chicken salad. It was out of my concept of noodle salad. There was a big chunk of cooked cold white Raman kind of noodle mixed in green instead of crispy noodles I had before. Very nasty. Not only the quality of food has gone down hill but the service. Customers are being charged 3% surcharge on bill but didn't get clean table to use. The completely shaded outdoor patio is the best part of this restaurant. read more

"A+ experience in all regards." They've changed the arrangement of the dining room quite a bit since my last visit. Now you just go right to the nearby counter to order. They give you a number and they bring your order out to you in a few minutes. This whole operation ran perfectly. As usual I got my grilled salmon dinner plate. For the sides I ordered the mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts. To drink I got the Stella Artois pilsner. Excellent in all regards. I think next time I might even consider having the plate with three different sides. They are that good. Special shout out to the friendly employee, Jordan. Very helpful and courteous. His work was flawless. I also had the pleasure of chatting with the general manager, Michael Morgan. Now I know why this restaurant is in such good shape. I absolutely love this place. I got the steak plate with a side of quinoa and brussel sprouts and it was absolutely delicious. The food here is definitely made with quality and care. I really enjoyed the bread as well. I love the microgreens they top on these pre-buttered grilled bread pieces. So good. The ambiance is so adorable in here. I love how green and fresh everything looks. They have options for indoor and outdoor dining. I opted for the outdoor patio because it's just so cute out there and very well ventilated even on a hot day. The service was absolutely wonderful as well. But of course it helped that my friend that I was with knew the whole entire staff. But I account that for the fact that their service is good that they remember their regular customers. We came here on a Friday night and there was a line, which was pretty constant, but which went fast. You order first, grab a number, and then choose a table. My partner ordered the Lamb special with a side of mashed potatoes, which was only for a limited time while I ordered the two chicken tenders plate with a beet salad and a side house salad. My partner loved his lamb plate and thought the meat was made to perfection - he thought it was seasoned well and the mashed potatoes were also very tasty. The chicken tenders was less our favorite. I would say the chicken tenders are more like battered chicken cutlets. The batter is crunchy but a little hard to chew which the meat was tender but not the best chicken tenders because it didn't have much flavor. I wouldn't get it again. The beet salad had a little bit of sesame oil or something so it was a little weird. The side house sale was a little sour for my tastes. However I loved the healthy concept and would definitely try this place again with different sides and mains. The banana cream pie was excellent and the crust was crispy (graham crackers and cinnamon I think? Or whatever goes at the bottom of a cheesecake) and delightful! The ambiance is nice with plenty of seating bot indoors and outdoors (patio and front of store). However, there are signs that say you must order before sitting down, so I guess they get pretty busy. read more

I was visiting and with a friend when we declared we needed lunch and wanted a salad. Thank you YELP for directing us to this cool little spot. I liked the vibe the minute we walked in. Clean, cool. You stand in line and order and they give you a number, a cup if you order a drink to serve yourself and then it's your job to find a table. On this day it was hot, so no one outside making indoors pretty busy and hard to find a spot. After circling a few times we settled in and waited for our salad. We both ordered the Caribbean salad. I dressed mine lightly (it was perfect) and my friend ordered the buttermilk ranch dressing. I ordered mine with salmon and she ordered the chicken. Here is where we might have gone wrong from a pricing stand point. Salad = $13.99 + salmon +9.99 = a $24 salad. The chicken was $1 less coming in at $23. Hmm....that's pretty expensive for a seat yourself place. I tipped 10% which meant two salads, no drinks + tip the lunch was $55.00. Not the cheapest. I said to my friend, for $55, these salads better be amazing. I have to say, they were AMAZING. NO complaints about my salad on any level. It was a GREAT salad. Both salads came with a home made grilled piece of garlic bread that looked great, but tasted mediocre at best. Meh on that... I think $9.99 for the salmon, while a lot was worth it. For $8.99 we felt like there wasn't much chicken. But both salads were huge so plenty big for lunch and dinner. Their menu is pretty extensive. The Whole Foods version of a restaurant. When you first walk in , you can order by phone , in person or by lager bright kiosks. Easy to navigate, grab your number and the open space for dining. The service was sparse but prompt and courteous. Seabass , salmon, rice , Brussels sprouts, and tomato soup. Everything was cooked well , mild seasoning was fine , a little low is better than over the top. Atmosphere was comfortable and overall we enjoyed the meal . I generally really like Urban Plates -- the food is consistently good, comes out hot, and the portions are generous. The ambience is nice and inviting at first, but I have to give a lower rating because it's always freezing inside during the evenings. The air conditioning blows so hard that it makes it uncomfortable to sit and enjoy a meal. We've even chatted with other diners about it, and they've noticed the same thing. It's a shame because the food is great, but it's hard to enjoy when you're shivering through dinner. I really hope they can adjust the temperature -- it would make the dining experience so much better. read more

This is my first time at Urban plates and I was amazed at the selection of food. There are so many great options and it was so hard to decide. The food cane out and it looked like a homecooked meal. I got the cheeseburger with no cheese and pickles and it was the best thing Ive ever had. The dragonfruit & strawberry drink was amazing too! The service was amazing. All of the workers were so nice. The staff at this place are super nice and friendly! The inside vibe is aesthetic and clean. However, I truly cannot recommend the food quality. I didn't want to give this place this low of a rating because of how welcoming the staff was, but I have to remain honest about the food -- it just was not good. There was a wide selection to choose from which was nice but that's about it. Maybe it was due to my food being a takeout order but it tasted like cafeteria food. I got the chimichurri steak with mashed potatoes, garlic bread, and Mac and cheese. The cashier asked how I'd like the steak cooked and I said medium rare but it was cooked overly well done. The Mac and cheese was grainy and the garlic bread was bland. The mashed potatoes were okay but not anything special. Again, this is just my experience with this location but I won't be ordering from here again. I visited about 6x and each time my order was wrong. I'm not sure how you can mess up a wrap and fries but it happened that many times. I gave the restaurant 3 stars only because Lydia made absolutely eveything better! Her energy , urgency, and compassion towards customers is unmatched. I appreciate her for making sure every time I come in that I am well take care of and my order is correct and honestly that's all I ever wanted in the first place. Mac and cheese wasn't a fan tasted odd. My husband liked the vegetarian options. We thought it was pretty good, but kids left hungry and disappointed.
