I tried Urban Plates for the first time and I was not disappointed! I ordered the chimichurri steak with Mac and cheese and Brussels sprouts. The steak was a tad bit cold but it was tender and the chimichurri had good flavor. The Mac and cheese was perfectly creamy but not too rich. The brussel sprouts were nicely cooked and the balsamic vinegar glaze was the perfect addition. My partner and I are trying to watch what we eat so we love that the calories are transparent and listed on the menu. The prices surprised me a little bit but in the end I realized it was worth it. read more

This was one of my work mates go-to lunch places, but it's been awhile since we've been back. This is a place that has something for everyone, including salads, sandwiches, burgers, and lots of vegan/vegetarian options. The food here is really fresh. You order at the counter and then you're given a number. You find your own seat, and shortly your food is brought to you. There was plenty of seating when we arrived on a Wednesday at noon. What I ordered: + Wild Ahi Nioise salad - this is pretty much the same thing I order every time. It's a generous salad with lots of different lettuces, green beans, chopped egg, potatoes, tomatoes, and grilled ahi. It's my favorite because it's really healthy and it tastes good too. Was feeling depressed today and decided to get UP to go since I had very good experiences with them in the past. Ordered for pick up on DoorDash and arrived on the scheduled time to pick up my food. Happened to not only get one less beef slice than advertised, but also bad brussels sprouts. In the original container it was bad brussels sprouts on the bottom and fresh brussels sprouts covered on the top, so I'm gonna assume that the employee noticed some were bad and still decided to put them inside my meal. Hey, at least they tried to make it look good. Now I'm even sadder. Everything else still tasted good. Hence not a 1-star. read more

My wife tried a different Urban Plates with friends and enjoyed it so she brought the family out to Dublin one night for dinner. It's got a casual vibe- you order at the register, put your number out, and they bring you your food. The food options here are pretty basic- my thought for it was home cooking for those who don't want to cook at home. Lots of familiar dishes you probably had at home while growing up, comfort food for sure. Once you've picked your entree, you can choose the sides, I like how you can customize like this and mix up your meals! I got the grilled grass fed steak with broccolini and potatoes, my wife got the grilled salmon with brussels sprouts and mashed potatoes, and the kiddo got mac and cheese. All the dishes were solid- my steak was cooked nicely (still a bit pink), the salmon was juicy, and the sides were tasty as well. All in all, a solid meal, nothing fancy, but good. The only downside for us was how smoky the place was with the grill going- it seemed like there was a haze throughout the restaurant and we came out smelling like we were next to a BBQ! They definitely need better ventilation in their cooking area! read more

Delicious! I like the fact that it SEEMS like it's wholesome, healthy food. The people were easy going and customer service oriented, the interior had an interesting cool vibe and most importantly, the food was delicious! I had never been so I didn't know what to expect but I'm glad I went. I approached the building and noticed a sizable menu out front. The selections were really delicious sounding with a couple international dishes that I immediately started to think about (I love international foods). They also had a nice outdoor patio which would be perfect for 9 months out of the year here in the greater bay area. That day was sunny but indoor was more my jam that day. When I stepped in I felt the warm atmosphere with really nice details from a design perspective (Always stuck on the design). They had big screens with the menu on it, some wines displayed (Some that I recognized from my wine industry days too (Not the really corporates ones either)) as well as a decent sized dessert cold case. I got up to bat and ordered their beef and mushroom stew with rice (Always eating rice). I wanted to explore more but it was a very cool day and a warm hearty stew was right up my alley. I often eat my stew with rice so that sounded like comfort to me at the moment. My meal was REALLY GOOD! It wasn't too salty but had the rich flavor that one would want with a mushroom based stew. The rice was a brown rice and was a nice compliment of texture to the stew. I also ordered this cranberry apple ginger juice thing which was AMAZING!!! I'm definitely going to go back and when I do, I'll explore a little more. I went there on my lunch break and with tip it came out to $24 which is a little much for what I usually spend on a lunch but as the saying goes, you get what you pay for. read more

We started our mini vacation driving to Santa Cruz as part of my boyfriend's bucket list. He always does his research weeks before any of our trips. Part of his plan was to take a break from driving and have lunch someplace. Urban Plates was one of his strong contenders while studying reviews on Yelp. He gave me two choices and this restaurant sounded the best to me. He knows I like healthy eateries whenever we can find one! This place has vegetarian, vegan, gluten free and dairy free options! As we entered, we were directed to the ordering counter to make our choices from the wall menu. I ordered the Antioxidant salad: organic artisan lettuce, organic baby kale, cucumbers, celery, mint, pickled onions, raw walnuts, grapes, blue cheese, seasonal fruit, tossed with mint-lemongrass vinaigrette. It comes with a slice Rustic Bread. Then I got a mixed fruit drink that had cantaloupe, mango, and pineapple juices. Joe K. ordered the Wild Ahi Niçoise: organic artisan lettuce, seared herb crusted wild ahi tuna, green beans, chopped organic egg, organic tomatoes, potatoes, capers, marinated olives, tossed with mustard-champagne vinaigrette. It comes with Rustic Bread. He also got an organic lemonade. We both agreed that our salads were amazing! I loved that every mouth full had a burst of new flavors. They gave me a generous amount of food to the point that I could barely finish it. But I just couldn't stop eating, even though I was so full! I love their variety of food. On this visit I tried the barramundi for the first time. The portions were so big I took half of it home. My side dishes were the mashed potatoes and gravy also the carrots and the beets, which I always get. I don't know what they do to the carrots and the beets but they are delicious. Placing the order is easy. The person who took my order was very nice. We got there before the lunch rush and had plenty of tables to choose from and the decor is very pleasant. Oh and I must mention the hummingbird cake. Although I don't eat it while I'm there, because I'm always too full, I do always get one to take home. I ordered the Sea Bass, which was ok, although it smothered in the lemon hollandaise sauce, it could use a bit more flavor. The Brussels were deliciously sautéed in onions, the carrots and beets were ok, they were steamed and tasted a little more like potatoes. The rustic bread it came with was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, with a tint of char and butter; delicious. I tried my coworkers chimichurri steak and it was really good.. it was cooked to perfection; medium rare, topped with chimichurri sauce. I'll definitely order that next time, along with the beet topped with goat cheese. It wasn't crowded during lunch time, which was nice. Would go without cheese next time. Plenty of options for just about everybody with dietary restrictions or those that want to splurge. The order and seating yourself was mostly great except when we got our food the salad came last. You basically get all your food at once. Love the setting atmosphere and location is convenient. Tried this place today and was very impressed! Plentiful parking in a parking lot with other shops. Easy to order and staff at the front were friendly; then either pickup for takeout or grab the number and find a seat, they'll bring you your order (but get your own utensils and napkins). We both ordered the chili-glazed tofu bowl. It was great! For me, the spice-wuss, it was fairly spicy but not so much that I couldn't eat it. For my spouse, it was flavorful and not spicy. We both liked that there was plenty of food on the plate -- two good sizes tofu "steaks", plenty of quinoa, and no skimpy broccolini garnish but rather a real side dish plus a piece of bread. All that for $12.95, so we thought it was yummy, a good portion, and a good price. Lots of seating options, both an outdoor section plus indoor. Indoor had one large communal table plus tables for 2 or 4. Tables were not smooshed in, there was reasonable room between. We sat at a 2-person table that had a large floor plant next to it that seemed to give us a little screen for privacy in the large room. Great for a lunch date. Also, it was clean. The dining room was clean and so was the bathroom. Would definitely come again! read more

I'm really sad to have to write such a poor review. I really like coming here but today when I came here with my husband and daughter there was no one at the checkout counter. So I decided to order table side on the app. It said our food would be delivered at 6:48 p.m. and we didn't get it till 6:57 p.m. and everyone who came in after us that was able to order with somebody at the checkout counter got their food before us. I went to go talk to the kitchen staff and ask how much longer for our food they said 3 more minutes with no compensation of us having to wait longer to get our food. And that's sad because there was nobody here in the restaurant only got in it was really empty and quiet you would assume we would have been helped quickly. read more

Enjoyed taking my good friend for over 30 years, and my daughter here, for my friend's birthday brunch on a Sunday. The food was excellent and fresh. We all had salads - my friend and I had the chicken cob... The chicken was absolutely delightful! A wonderful somewhat smoked (maybe) flavor fresh and tender and quite a bit of it! As well as a hard boiled egg, half an avocado, blue cheese crumbles, organic tomatoes, and turkey bacon, nicely done - lovely spring lettuce... Just an awesome salad. My daughter got a nice piece of salmon on her salad... And the salmon was quite a sizable piece and done well. The atmosphere was perfect and not overly crowded but a lovely group of customers, so it wasn't a baron place. It's nice and open feeling and we were not rushed, which is what we really needed for a nice occasion. (You order first and then you find a table and they bring it to you). Urban Plates is a very cute, rustic, countertop service restaurant. I really like the decor and lighting in here. The menu is huge and offers some pretty great options. I played it kind of safe and ordered the chicken tenders with mac n cheese and mushroom stuffing. Tenders were nicely seasoned. The mac was pretty flavorless. The stuffing needed more texture rather than mush, but had a good flavor. If I came again I'd probably want to try the Chili tofu and get some vegetables sides instead. My mom's chicken sandwich was also just okay. Serves craft sodas, and water is self serve. It wasn't bad. read more
