Ordered Doordash since they're having a promo of 45% off orders of $15+! Got the Half Sandwich Combo ($12.50) but I got the Grilled Grass Fed Steak so that's an extra $2.49. it came with slice of toast and side (soup or salad). I got the Tomato Basil Soup. I also paid +$1.00 for Chimichurri. The 1/2 sandwich looked pretty small but it was stuffed with very generous portions of steak! It was an incredible medium rare and it was grilled very nicely. It was slightly dry and wished it had a bit more flavor but not a big deal! The Chimichurri was a bit disappointing. It seemed more like olive oil with bits of parsley than a sauce made with olive oil and blended herbs and parsley. The tomato basil soup was good. It seemed more like tomato sauce than a soup since the consistency was very thick. I liked that they used fresh tomatoes and it was packed with flavor. Also, really enjoyed the complimentary toast and croutons! Overall, I thought it was a good deal with the promo but a bit overpriced if I were to pay full price. I enjoyed the steak but thought the Chimichurri and tomato basil soup was just ok.

This was our second Urbane Cafe we visited in two months. We loved every bite of our meal. We tried for the first time the Crunchy Peanut salad, the Santa Maria BBQ Chicken salad and the Chimichuri steak sandwich. We cleaned our bowls the salads were absolutely delicious. The sandwich was rich in flavor and came with a side salad. Fresh baked cookies are also displayed. I've was so pleasantly surprised to see they offer Sriracha. They have several fountain drink options and lemonade. Free 90 min parking in back of the store.

Ordered the chopped turkey salad. Fresh and delightful salad. Service was good but the guy at the cashier wasn't so pleasant.

Brought a friend here since this has been one of my favorite Pasadena go-to's, and I'm happy to say it still holds up as a favorite :) I ordered the Seared Wild Ahi Tuna with Macaroni & Cheese and Steamed Asparagus as sides, along with the raspberry & ginger kombucha. I loved how soft and juicy the Seared Wild Ahi Tuna was. This is officially my new go-to The Macaroni & Cheese was also super soft and just the right amount of cheesy, so I'm glad I chose that as a side. And the Steamed Asparagus was seasoned really well, so I'd definitely get it again. The staff was really nice and helpful, and our food came out within minutes Plus, the inside of the restaurant is very pretty lol.

On a Saturday 11am in Early May, my sister and I had lunch to try their special. We ordered at the cashier of chicken chimichurri with 2 sides -side salad Caesar and mash potatoes and gravy $10.95. There are plenty of tables to sit and it is self service of plates, water, utensils. The food came out fast. Everything was delicious and I got full. Nice ambiance inside. I forgot how good the food is and everything was freshly made.

Had to stop in now that they have the seasonal BBQ ribs back on the menu. The meat is very soft and tasty. Highly recommend and of course can't go wrong with the cowgirl cookies. Jaryn was great in taking my order.

Located on Lake Ave in Pasadena, Urban Plates sits amongst other popular restaurants for lunch. There is street parking but its only for 1 hour. There's also parking in the lots on the opposite side of the street, but those also fill up quick. Urban plates offers up a variety of foods that trend mostly to the healthy side. The prices are a little higher end for lunch, but the quality makes up for it. I ordered the Moroccan chicken with rice and was pleasantly surprised by the flavor. It has a nice spice flavor to it, not to be confused with spicy. The sauce has a slight sweetness that pairs really well with the rice. The bread offers a great way to scoop up the last of the sauce and as a nice change in texture. The service was incredible and everyone was really friendly. They have patio seating and its not too loud even in the middle of the day.

It's been forever since we've been here, was in the area and wanted a light lunch, this is perfect! Previously service was like a cafeteria (walk down counter and choose your meal and sides) now, you place your order at the counter and then food is delivered to your table. Customer service after placing order is just okay, no follow up if you need anything for your meal. Restaurant is located on Lake Boulevard in Pasadena, street parking is available but limited with payment required, free nearby parking lot available.

    Mango tart
    Christy S.

I was excited to try Urban Plates after looking at their menu and pictures. It's clearly super popular. When we arrived for lunch around 12:30 Wednesday there was a very long line that moved pretty slowly. Everything took a while to come out, but service was very nice and friendly. I got the chili glazed grilled tofu plate with sides of mushroom stuffing and beets & goat cheese. Everything looked good, so I was surprised how unremarkable it ended up tasting. Everything I got tasted fairly standard but somewhat plain. The tofu was kinda dry and the stuffing was on the mushy side. I also got a slice of mango tart. That was probably the most disappointing one for me. First, I was surprised how small the piece was (maybe 2.5" wide at the crust end) for $8.25. But worse, it tasted strangely sour and the mango was stringy. I don't know if it was an off day or what. But given the popularity and good reviews, I'm just really surprised overall by the food I received. I parked in the garage behind the restaurant. Validation was simple but it ended up costing $6 for a little over 2 hours.

This is the place to go to if you want a quick fresh meal. I had the ahi tuna salad and it was delicious. Service was pretty quick and very friendly. It's more of like chipotle style but they bring you the food. I would stop by here again.

Healthy-ish, tasty, and conveniently makes you feel like you made a responsible life choice. Portions could be a bit more generous, but hey--maybe that's the point. Parking? Bring patience. It's definitely "I want to eat clean but still enjoy life" spot. Fresh & flavorful food. Spacious & clean :) Friendly staff is absolutely a plus :)

It consisted of lettuce, avocado, corn, black beans, jicama, tomatoes, onion, quinoa, krispies, kale, cilantro, and cotija. The lettuce wasn't too fresh and there were some that were yellow green but not a big deal. It was packed with flavor even without the chipotle vinaigrette (relieved I got it on the side because I wasn't s big fan). The avocado was very fresh and plentiful. I added chicken for extra $4.74 and it was very tender! Overall, I enjoyed the salad but a bit pricey so it was a good one time experience! The Chicken Pesto Caprese ($14.10) was pretty good. It consisted of chicken, mozzarella, red peppers, pesto, and mixed greens. The greens were very fresh and the sandwich was packed with flavor. The chicken was a little dry but not a big deal. There was a lot of red pepper and it was a bit overwhelming so I wished there wasn't so much. Really enjoyed the pesto since it it wasn't too salty and was the cherry on top to the sandwich! I also really liked that the bread was soft and fresh. Got the "Not so Fried" Chicken Sandwich ($13.68) - 1/2 portion and it came with a side (paid extra $1.26) for tomato basil soup. It consisted of chicken, krispies, mustard pickle slaw, tomatoes, onions, and herb aioli. The bread was very fresh and soft. I'm glad I got this in half portion because I thought this was just ok and nothing special. The tomato basil soup was very oily and salty so wasn't too enjoyable. The Pomegranate Mint Lemonade ($5.10) was sooo sweet. It was refreshing but the mint was a little too overpowering. Definitely recommend adding ice and/or water otherwise it's way too sweet! Hubby got the Classic Aussie sandwich and the bread pudding, while my son and I got the Beef Pho meat pies and Popcorn Pork meat pie rolls. The beef pho meat pie definitely had the pho flavors and aromatics. This was absolutely delicious! The Popcorn Pork was good, not as aromatic as the pho pie. The flavor was lacking on the Taiwanese popcorn chicken basil flavor that it claimed. It reminded me more of a Vietnamese meat pie (pate chaud), which is peppery with a smoother texture that this one did not have, but it was still flavorful. The bread pudding was good but the texture was more dense reminding me of a banana bread loaf. I didn't care for the dollop of yogurt on top, which took away from the flavor of the bread pudding itself. Hubby said the Classic Aussie was good but was expensive for the size of the sandwich (small burger size). Hubby got the Long Black coffee which was good, but sadly my iced matcha latte was lacking in the matcha flavor. It was very pale in color and tasted mostly of milk. Service was quick and friendly. I want to thank Henry for reaching out to me after reading about our experience. Nothing says…read morecustomer service like going out of your way to make it right for your customers and Henry did just that. We went back today and the food was delicious. This time my husband got the Granada which was recommended to us by Henry and I got my usual Legendary. Both sandwiches were packed with meat/ chicken and on top of that they both came out hot and ready to devour. The bread was succulent and a good amount of mayo and ketchup was added. All in all this is the experience we had been wanting to have and I'm so glad we went back. Thank you to Henry, again, for going out of his way to make us feel welcomed and well attended. He was happy to have us back and we felt very appreciated as customers. Can't wait to come back and try other sandwiches!

I've been to Monty's twice now. First time was a great experience. I believe the owner was there…read moreand he seemed very passionate about the menu and ingredients they used. However, I went for a second time yesterday and was deeply disappointed. The owner wasn't there and instead a younger girl took my order and prepared the food. Everything seemed well and fine until I got home, opened my patty melt and found not 1 but 2 long hairs in my sandwich! They were clearly her hairs since she was the only one who handled my food. I went back and returned everything. I didn't see a hair in my other sandwich but couldn't even eat it without thinking what could be in each bite. The same girl was there when I returned and a young guy. I spoke with the guy and he gave me a refund right away and apologized. The girl who had made my food was maybe 5 feet away and couldn't even turn around to look at me or apologize. Very disappointing since the owner seemed like a nice guy who probably works extremely hard to build and maintain his business, only to have it ruined by some employee who couldn't even care enough to take 5 sec to put on a hair net. Shame on her.

this has got to be some of the best chicken ive ever had!!! the chicken was fall-off-the-bone,…read morejuicy, and packed with flavor. my friend and i each got the 1/4 chicken and that was more than enough. the house salad was so fresh, with a citrusy/vinaigrette-like dressing. it paired perfectly with the chicken!! i would pass on the cucumber salad next time though. it wasn't as crisp and flavorful as i was hoping. service was very friendly and quick. the interior is cute like a cottage, not too overdone, and there was a good mix of families and couples enjoying their meals, and even a team of firefighters. there's plenty if seating outside too, and a parking lot right outside the restaurant. all around a great vibe.

It's elevated by rotisserie chicken that literally makes your mouth water. Ambiance: quaint. Casual. Date night worthy for some good conversation. Honestly, for me a date spot is anywhere there is good food because I don't want to waste calories on something not tasty lol. Parking: small parking lot available with only one handicap it looks like. . Parking on street available. Seating: inside and outside. Yes very cute and quaint.. tables are small and fit maybe 4-5 people in the both style but if you get lucky you'll be able to seat parties next to each other. Baby friendly: yes, I say this because we made this place my daughter's 1st birthday dinner cuz I was craving something good and new. It did not disappoint. Food: Whole family meal with whole chicken and two sides + inca cola. ( It comes with t by inca cola but we swapped it out to or two cans of coke. I wish we could get a Mexican coke for it.) Chicken is phenomenal. Plantains are a just for a meal like this. And white rice. Green sauce available via serve yourself style! Service: very friendly! Protip: call ahead. They get very busy and sometimes they run more on chicken availability and you have to wait even if you ordered ahead so call ahead anyways!
