standard chain restaurant. fast casual counter service where you order at the front and they bring the food to your table. servers were super friendly and checked on us multiple times to see how our experience was. i got the ahi tuna which was incredible. grilled perfectly rare and the taste of the smoke from the grill was great. not much else to say other then that i will absolutely come back read more

We were traveling to Southern California and decided to check out Urban Plates so we took a little detour route. From the moment we entered the front door, we were greeted with a friendly cheerful voice and smile. We checked out their menu choices and decided on their steak and salad/veggies options and skipped the bread!! The chimichurri sauce was AWESOME!! Grass fed steak cooked to perfection. The salad was also delicious!! The employees walked around asking if everything was ok and if we needed anything. We had a very nice chat. At the time of the visit, there was a big devastated fire going. The gentleman thanked us for our support. Overall, an awesome experience. The food was fresh. A healthier choice. This place was just okay. Our first time here and unlikely to return. They have a counter where you order and they will bring the food out to you. I ordered the chimichurri steak with rice, mashed potatoes and harissa cauliflower. The rice never made it out, but the rest of the food was really just okay, no standouts. Easily would have been a 5/5 for me had I went with a different plate. I tried their grilled chicken plate. The chicken was very dry and too chewy. The sides were the stars of the show. I went with their glazed brussels sprouts and mashed potatoes. I'm a big fan of Urban Plates and will keep coming back for more food. Used to frequent Urban Plates in Brea and loved the food, so when I passed by the one in Pasadena, I was starving and was super excited to be able to order all my usual favorites. The lunch for the two of us w/drinks came out to over $90 (to be fair, we each ordered alcohol), but the presentation wasn't great and the taste of the food was pretty disappointing. Everything was tasteless. Not sure if I would be coming back. read more

We did take out and had a glass of house red while we waited. Nice pour. Super friendly cashier, as well as the server who brought us out take out. Casual vibe. I got a chopped a Cobb without meat and extra egg and did NOT get ripped off. Nice salad. Decent gluten free cookie. We went on a Thursday night at roughly 8pm, there isn't a lot of customers and we were helped immediately. The food came out in about 10 minutes after ordering and they were perfect! I love the mushrooms, carrots and beets, and brussel sprouts as their sides! So soft so flavorful and if not enough flavor, add salt yourself! My steak was cooled medium rare with chimichurri sauce and it was delicious! All I can say is 5 star on the food since not much service was truly provided. First time trying this spot yesterday. Thursday at noon, April 23, 2026. I ordered a cheeseburger and fries, $14. The burger patty was small and dry, but all I could taste was the bitterness of the burnt bun. The fries were cold but seasoned well. And my friend found a hair in his beef-and-mushroom stew. Should've seen the red flags. 1. The large picture menu out front screams desperation. 2. The place was pretty empty for a Thursday at noon. 3. The manager told me to message him and I emailed him twice and never heard back. Very disappointing that you ask customer to reach out on their experience and you wouldn't even respond. I'm still extremely disappointed and frustrated with my experience here especially when they overcharged me and when I complained they told me it's only a $2 difference in overcharge not a big deal and the food was cold and not tasty. read more

Tonight's dinner was takeout from a longtime favorite of my wife's and her lady's cancer group. Since she happened to be in the area today. A first time try for me and our son. Viewing their menu, I chose the Grilled Grass Fed Steak Sandwich with Chips. Tender and flavorful beef on a French roll, which also included in-house prepared chips. A good first impression. My son was okay with his Caesar Salad With Chicken, but didn't think it compares with California Chicken Cafe. However, my wife was perfectly fine with her choice of the Grass Fed Steak Plate. With sides of Balsamic Brussels Sprouts and Roasted Marbled Potatoes. Her first try of that particular menu item. Overall, a very nice try of a new venue for me. I've been here so many times starting in 2015! I love how the food portion and quality is decent and each meal has the right about of protein, carbs and veggies (if you choose to have those sides). It's close to where I go for my swim so it's convenient for me. Parking is validated in the underground covered parking lot but you can also park on the street which makes things easy. I also like the plate pass. For $5/ month you can get 20 percent off your order, which adds up over time if you come here a lot. I just signed up yesterday so am looking forward to coming back more often! Ambiance is casual and family friendly. Really good vibes read more

I typed lemonade on Yelp to get the address and urban plates popped up...they tryna steal my business from lemonade. Well I fell for it! Since I was with one of my homeboy and not a girl, I hesitated about taking him to lemonade because it's a bit on the slim side. It seems that urban plates got some healthy options,but also a dank ass looking steak at the same time. ^.^ 10 minutes later, we rolled up to urban plates and the homie parallel parked his whip like a G. We got to the line and was a bit confused about how to order. Finally we learned that if you're here for the steak, then please pass by all the peepz that are waiting by the salad bar. Ain't no salad eating rabbits in me today! Give me Mah Meat! the Season and sauce on my steak was great. Seriously, I was so HEPPY. the one serious thing that they got to fix is how to deliver a hot steak. my steak barely had any warmth (it doesn't even deserve the word heat) coming off of it. Since we decided to eat outside...it was literally cold within 5 minutes. Overall I'm digging this alternative to lemonade. Not that I hate lemonade or anything.
