I've been here twice, and I love the sandwiches here! I believe that I'm a huge sandwich fan! The foundation being the bread and the building being the meat, sauce and cheese if you please! Steak sandwiches are pretty high on my list of sandwiches.So, I ordered the BBQ Tri Tip sandwich. There was plenty of tri-tip and the coleslaw brought a perfect tang to the whole thing! The meat was tender enough to bite through. The bread is solid. It's soft on the outside and inside. I usually like crunchy bread, but I really like the bread here. All of the sandwiches come with a salad. The dressing is good! I think it is a balsamic vinegar dressing. There are a few regular tables, a couple of high tables with stools and a couple of community tables for those who aren't afraid of strangers or people with bigger parties. There's also a patio with around a dozen tables IN THE SHADE. A huge plus for these hot So Cal days. The service is ok! Could be better. Another food joint to check out near CSUN. It's nestled in the corner by Starbucks and Wells Fargo. Inside very clean. Somewhat small space but they maximize by having also an outdoor seating area. Staff were friendly, they looked happy to be working here. I read the chimichurri steak sandwhich was a must so decided to eat that. I also bought a cranberry/walnut cookie. So the steak sandwhich was nothing spectacular actually. I'm a meat eater and I know when the meat is dam good. The tri tip they used was so so. Yes the meat was soft but the flavor was too bland. In my head I envisioned Argentine flavors but not in this sandwhich. The side salad was crisp and refreshing on this hot day but that's about it. Now the cookie was a hit! It was deliciously soft, flavorful, and dam good. I would recommend that. I will return to try maybe one of their salads instead or another sandwhich but seriously that steak sandwhich is AIGHT. read more

Ordered online to pick up on a weekday. Parking lot was BUSY, but I was able to find a spot right away. What I ordered: So-Cal Sandwich with fruit. Roasted Chicken, Avocado, Tomatillo Salsa, Pepper Jack Cheese, Green Leaf Lettuce, Chipotle Aioli. It was Yummy. I ordered it with a side of fruit instead of salad. I haven't been to the other location, but this place is a welcome addition to Reseda Blvd. It's not the cheapest place, but probably works for most CSUN student budgets. The house salad is fine and the soups are tasty. I don't recommend the tortilla soup as it has lots of noodles rather than tortilla chips. The sausage kale soup was pretty good though. One of my favorite cafes to eat at with my sis. We just stopped by to check it out and i must say we were truly impressed. The food was seriously delicious! My first time i was here i got the moroccan second time i got the portabella mushroom sandwich and both were equally delicious! My sis always orders her favorite chicken pesto with sundried tomatos sandwich. Also we can never forget our favorite soup of the day: roastes red pepper and smoked gouda tomato soup! Super delish! Decided to try out Urban Cafe after coming across it on Yelp. We ordered the Chicken Cilantro Salad, handcrafted lemonade, Chicken Spaetzle soup and a fresh made cookie. The Cilantro Chicken Salad was delicious, very flavorful and the flavor profile complimented each other well. My only negative was the ratio of chicken to the leafy greens. Their was way too much leafy greens. But the chicken did taste absolutely amazing. The Chicken Spaetzle Soup was very pleasant as well. It was not overly salty, it tasted perfect and had just enough ingredients in it, My toddler loved the dumplings in it. The soup (and salad) was served with a delicious house made bread. I do wish they would serve it warm though. You can smell it being baked fresh, it's a disappointment when you expect a warm fresh baked one but receive a cold one. For the lemonade I mixed the blueberry basil and regular lemonade and had the perfect balance of sweet and tart. The cookie was a fan favorite for us. It came out warm and had the perfect amount soft gueyness and crunch around the outer edge. It was the perfect dessert to end our lunch. I was pleased with my overall experience here and will definitely be returning here to try out more dishes. read more

If you're near CSUN and want a nice and quick lunch or dinner, give this place a try. There's a fair amount of restaurants around the area, and the parking lot is not huge, so parking can be a little challenging in the lot during busy hours. Just something to keep in mind. The service is great. Friendly and efficient. Food comes out fairly quick. Good selection of salads, soups and sandwiches. Pretty modern interior with a good amount of seating for the size of the restaurant. I've been here a couple times, and the food has been solid both times. Decent portion size for the price as well. Really good alternative to your standard sandwich shop. Everything is served on fresh focaccia bread, and they have some good options between chicken, Turkey, steak or veggie. Similar to stone oven franchise, but I prefer this place since it's a stand alone establishment with ample seating and a small outdoor seat area (vs stone oven is generally located at the food court in malls) This plaza also has a Starbucks and an ice cream place that seems pretty decent (CREAM) if you cared for dessert of coffee afterwards! read more

Great for a quick lunch. Fast service and the food is fresh, tasty, and unique. I love their SoCal Chicken Sandwich. It's easy to ask for substitutions and/or add ons so that you get exactly what you want. Check out their website in advance if you want to know the calorie count to anything. The website let's you customize your meal and then provides the nutritional info based on your selections. I wish all eateries did this. Most items are generous size sandwiches with salad sides or entree salads or other entree protein dishes. On a nice day you can sit outside and enjoy the food. Their outdoor furniture is shaded and comfortable enough for a 30 min lunch. Parking is easy because it's in a strip mall but if you go there between 12-1:30pm be prepared to circle a couple of times before you find a spot. read more

Good food, friendly service, clean place (even the bathroom is spotless), Urbane Cafe has become a favorite of mine. As an example: Over the time I've been coming here there's been two times they got my take-out order wrong. (to err is human, they say). What keeps me coming back is that both times I told them about the mistake they apologized, gave me my next order for free, spoke to the people preparing the order about the mistake. The cooks (?), food handlers (?) were really pleasant about it and in later visits, when I picked up my food, they'd repeat back my order just to be sure it was right.
