Update review: I've been back quite a few times since my original review so I thought it was time to write an update. I have tried many items on the menu. The pesto chicken sandwich is very good and all their salads are fresh and good sizes. I've found that they aren't too overly enthusiastic employees but that's ok, I guess I'm there to eat not socialize, as long as they're not rude and food is up to par with a "quick bite" cafe. The restaurant was clean and will definitely recommend and frequent the cafe often. The food is very good but the people that work here just really need to slow down. There were only a couple of us in line and there was one young gentleman running the front; dealing with the cashier, taking orders, answering phone orders, running food AND dealing with to go orders (actually helping people to their cars). Mind you there were plenty other workers there but he just didn't ask for help and literally was running around. No one even offered to help him. We asked for a side of Mayo and a few sides of ranch when he brought our food. We got 1 ranch no Mayo when he came back (4 of us to split 1 ranch). So we kindly asked for more ranch and the original order of Mayo. He came back (frantically running) with the Mayo, no ranch. I then had to go back to the register and ask for our 2 cookies and had to remind him which ones we ordered he said "ok I'll bring them to you". He came back to the table without them and asked which ones they were again. RUNNING the entire time. I also told him that the sprite was flat. He said he would check it out, but he never came back. I again went up to the register to ask about the sprite. He just said looked miserable and asked someone to check the sprite. I kindly just requested a root beer instead as we were finished eating at this point. We then went back up to the register and asked for a to go box on which finally a young lady didn't say a word, no smile, almost rudely handed us a box without even stopping her personal conversation with her coworker (another female). We were there for lunch on Friday, April 9, 2021. Management should step in and help these kids, because the food was excellent! read more

This place is great for fresh and healthy eats. It's so good I went twice in one week! I tried their seasonal special chicken salad and the second time around I tried their Sante fe salad with tri tip both a hit and both with awesome dressing. read more

I come here all the time and this place would be in my routine of the few good places to eat in Simi and sadly the service has gotten bad. The recent handful of times I've came in the employees are rude. They forgot my "smokey tomatillo salsa" with my cilantro chicken torta and when I ask for it they don't say anything just look at me then give me the salsa. Of course the salsa is a quarter full and so I ask for another but they give me a lighter green salsa. Again with no response just a comment in a different language to each other. I work in customer service so I get that "tough customers" can be hard to deal with but I asked nicely to just get attitude back. Won't be coming back cause of the awful service...looks like I have to find another sandwich/ salad place in Simi. read more

This is the second attempt to eat here. First time they got the salad order all wrong. This time they lost our order completely. The co-worker was very sweet but after waiting at the patio table for 40 minutes in 100 degree weather had them cancel the order. Never once did they offer us even a glass of water for what was supposed to be a 15 minute wait. So disappointed. Ventura location is exceptional this location needs to take lessons. read more

Went to get some takeout here yesterday. Walked inside. They have the entire restaurant roped off so that there is a semi narrow corridor to walk up and order food. We ordered and were asked if we minded waiting outside for our food. Now mind you I have a 1 year old baby in my arms and a 2 yr old hugging my legs. I told her yes I do mind it's over 100 degrees outside and there's no one else in the restaurant. A second girl then came up to me and again told us to wait outside saying we were "blocking traffic and in the way" when in reality we are masked and doing our best to stay purposely tucked in the corner so we DONT get in the way and we maintain our 6 ft distance to the one customer that walks in while we were waiting. These Covid restrictions are absolutely ridiculous and completely lack common sense. Will not be back. read more

Urbane is my favorite "go to" restaurant. I have stopped many times on my way home from work to pick up a quick dinner or on the weekends for lunch. I love their sandwiches and side salad, much healthier than fries .... which I love but glad it is not an option or I'd order it all the time. We have not had a bad sandwich from Urbane. Their all good. I have also ordered through their catering. It was a great light dinner after my daughters high school graduation at our place. Everyone enjoyed their plates. They even accommodated in making a vegan dish for my daughter's friend and kept it in a separate container. Also at the last minute, I found out that more were going to stop by our house after graduation so as they were making my order, I requested more sandwiches which they happily did. The Simi Valley location is large and roomy in comparison to other Urbane's that are in the valley. And everyone in this restaurant is nice and smiles, and it is efficient with getting orders out quickly. I know the chain is becoming larger and I have seen some changes over the years on the containers and bread size. I am hoping it does not loose their quality and continue to offer great delicious food at a fair price. read more

It is yummy and healthy. It is somewhat pricey, but that seems to be the standard with places like this. It's no more than any other healthy, fresh place. The menu is great for vegetarians, there is actually more than one option! Vegetarians can't live on salads alone. It fills a niche similar to Corner Bakery and Panera without the bakery component. Portions are more generous though. I just wish there were more locations. read more

I tried this place for the first time and had the worst experience ever. Not only did I consume mold but I also experienced terrible customer service. The cashier had an Uninviting attitude and I probably stood around for five minutes looking like an idiot as three employees passed me and did nothing to serve me. I paid almost $4 for a lemonade and it turned out to be the worst $4 I have ever spent. This drink had MOLD in it. Absolutely disgusting. And when I demanded to speak to a manager a guy who looked nearly 19, barely solved the situation. he gave me a free sandwich card and replaced my drink. He then blamed the drink manufacturing company for the mold. How is this location in business?! Never again!!!! The health board will definitely be hearing about this. DISGUSTING!!!!!! read more

We've been eating at UC for years. But this was the first time I used their catering service. Urbane cafe catered my daughters bridal shower! And delivered the food! The sandwich choices and salads were perfect for our party! Everyone loved the food! Johnny delivered the food on time with a big smile on his face! The Bella Portobello sandwich under the vegetarian options is so good. It has grilled mushrooms, mixed greens, cheese, basil, tomato and tomato aioli.
