I'm tempted, as a Mammoth resident, not to write a glowing review for the same reason that I never tell people about my favourite hikes. However, I will admit that the service is exceptional and the food is delicious and really interesting. I had to laugh at some other reviewer complaining that they were asked to leave because their obnoxious screaming children were being obnoxious and screaming. Wish more restaurants would do that. read more

Probably the highest quality and tasty food in Mammoth. Great fresh and home made food, perfectly cooked. Don't let the unusual ambiance fool you, they are a coffee shop during the day and a fine restaurant at night! The chef Steve is really nice and will answer any question you may have. Their eggplant dish was delicious and so was the lobster fettuccine! We highly recommend it. I would also recommend to book prior to come in. They don't have a lot of tables. Amazing flavors (the duck fat potatoes were out of this world) on everything we ordered - the whipped feta, the short ribs, everything was incredible. What a delicious and pleasant dinner surprise in Mammoth. Lovely ambience in this pop-up inside what is an awesome coffee shop by day. Highly recommend dining here. We were a family of five, all self proclaimed foodies and this dinner did not disappoint. We opted for all the dishes so we can try the entire menu as it is not that large. Perfect amount of food for us. I truly can't say there was a dish we did not enjoy. Daikon tartare and cannellini dip really stood out, as did the scallops. Everything was super yummy! The service was attentive, and the chef whom you can see right there in his tiny space doing his thing seems genuinely passionate and caring about the food he puts out. We will definitely be back here. We always struggle to find great food experiences in Mammoth, and this was a delicious one start to finish. read more

Ursa came highly recommended and it totally checked every box! Ambience meets that rustic yet refined definition and the food is top notch! The chicken with chimichurri was delicious preceeded by the prosciutto from the charcuterie menu. Top it off with a locally brewed Pilsner and you've got a perfect dinner! We came in without a reservation and the host was pretty accommodating. We got seated after a table cleared up. Waited a little but that's our fault for not making a reservation. We ordered the Put al in the weeds and split it between 6 of us. We got all the appetizers first and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the vegan dishes. I especially liked the Moroccan carrot salad and the turnip tartare. The chicken was phenomenal. I love chicken but I'm partial to fried chicken. Though this was roast chicken I was not disappointed. This was easily the best sit down meal we have had in Mammoth (and we eat out a LOT). The flavors were fun and delicious and the turnip "tartare" was so clever - Chef Al is a wizard in the kitchen. I would have given this place a zero if I could. The food was horrendous, as they served us sardines out of a tin can and called it mussels. Furthermore, we ordered one of everything on the menu, and everything was terrible. For the rainbow trout, they served it to us in a parchment paper bag that they had microwaved. As for ambiance, they played loud rap music that contained several vulgar slurs. The location was hard to find too, because it was in a coffee shop. We were expecting a nice dinner where our family could talk without screen time but we were disappointed. read more

Wow. Family and I were in town last weekend visiting. We walked by an unassuming coffee shop, and noticed a disco ball spinning in the window. Looking further into the room, we saw it was FULL of people with wine glasses in hand and smile on face. We decided to head in and give it a go. We were informed by the lovely host (Carrie?) that they were finishing up a private event and would be opening back up at 6PM to the public. We decided to return after a short walk around the area. Upon arrival, the team had already prepared a table for us, and were quick and attentive to explain the way their menu works. The menu, they said, was written every week by the chef/owner Al. We decided to live a little and ordered one of everything from the menu. BEST. DECISION. EVER. Every dish that came out was incredible, leaning from the fresh and light whipped ricotta and pickled veg, to the heavier porchetta (sp?) with chicharrones from the market next door. But good god, the turnip tartare was without a doubt, the best thing we tasted in Mammoth. It seems like the chef knows his way around vegetables better than anyone else in town. The flavor was sweet, earthy, salty, and spicy simultaneously. If I ever find myself on death row, this is my last meal request. We will be back to visit every time we are in town.
