Never thought I'd be in giving a 5 star review for a post office but here we are. I moved here from LA and have never before left a USPS laughing and smiling. One of the employees, Bobby, I believe his name is, truly makes my day any time I go in. His humor, positive attitude, and kindness really makes me value the impact of friendly customer service and reminds me of the positive impact that an individual can make on someone's day. We've been here a few times and the service has been efficient. My dad needed to mail a letter overseas and the clerk was very helpful as she told him how much postage was needed in order to mail it to India. This location has a Self-service kiosk where you can buy stamps, ship packages, and mail letters. They also have a gift cards selection which includes brands like Amazon, Starbucks, Old Navy, Marshall's, McDonald's, and TJ Maxx. read more

This post office is central to where I live so it's convenient. I've had a PO BOX here for several years and my mail gets lost or misplaced often. My packages are almost always lost at this post office during the holidays. Despite long lines, customer service is usually pretty good. read more

I was here a few weeks ago with prepaid packages that i waited to drop off at the register. i went to the very end register against a wall- a middle aged woman with cropped bleached blond hair and oversized glasses waited on me. the pile of packages fell over and one or 2 went on the ground behind the counter. it looked like she may of picked one up or looked quickly, i asked her if she got it and she just stared at me without speaking. well from that batch of packages one never got tracking. i went back to the post office the next business day and asked them to look by the wall of the counter- there were a few empty boxes there, i though maybe my package fell behind . everything else from that day was in transit on tracking except that. i had to refund my customer in full and explain the whole ridiculous episode. 2 weeks later the package shows up where it was suppose to go. to late to get my money back. this post office has the most dismissive inept people behind the counter. i only went here because they are open saturdays and i had to mail on that day. Broadway PO is so much better, they are kind and know their stuff. dont go here if you can avoid it. read more

Was reading the local Neighbors app today. One thread was complaining about the post office and the personnel. So want to update my review. Continue to believe my service from the UPSP is simply outstanding. Any worker I have encountered is professional and wants to be helpful. My regular carrier (Hugh who services me on 42nd and H route) is absolutely wonderful -- both in how he does his job and the care he has for his customers. My neighbors all feel the same way about him. So two big thumps up for the Post Office from me. read more

More than anything, this review is a thinly-disguised shout out to Tony. She made what could have been an all-too-frequent annoying post office experience one of the best I've had in memory. First of all, the coronavirus has not slowed down the rate in which people send packages. I stood in a line as long as any I've seen on major holidays, and this was nothing more than an insignificant Tuesday in May. When I finally did get to the counter, she commented on the lovely artwork my son drew on the outside (a package for grandma) and we started chatting about our kids. Despite customers both in front and back of me talking to her and the postal staff like they were less than human, she was cheerful, kind, patient and tolerant when I couldn't get my payment working. That's the best kind of customer service. I've had issues with this post office, and they may well resurface in a future review. Just know that for know, based on my latest visit, they are in my good graces thanks to Tony and her cheerful disposition! read more

It took the Fort Sutter Post Office nearly a MONTH to deliver a package to me. I live 1.2 miles away. Per the tracking number, they received it on October 14th and it wasn't delivered until November 12th. This is a medication and I really needed this to be delivered on time. This is the second time they've lost my medication. The previous time it was MIA for a month and a half before just showing up out of the blue. I don't know who is running this branch but it seems like they might need new management. This is just really terrible service. I contacted my online pharmacy and told them from now on to use United Parcel Service for all future deliveries, so I actually get them in a timely fashion. read more

I came July 2023 to 1618 ALHAMBRA BL USPS to send an international parcel I was charged $58: parcel was open to show contents. I asked the agent what to place in contents he was in a h The parcel went to LA and came back not delivered. I came to this post office so many times to ask for a refund. Finally I waited for a manager that never called me back. she argued that she was going to go through the videos to see if I was right. When I came to drop the parcel one of the agents did all the paperwork. I asked him if I should write gift on one of the Sections he okayed that he received a package could charge me on the package came back so what I did is I send a package again without registration for $17 and the lady that recipient received a package last Monday I found incredibly bad that nobody cares and they keep rolling the ball around for me when he was in their error there a mistake in excepting a package that according to what it says, I should have write more details instead of only gift, but I asked this they claim they were going to look into the video recordings. They have never done that . The photos chose the $58 and the parcel with all the stickers when he came back to me. I took the contents and send it into another parcel for $17. The recipient received a parcel. I asked that this was extremely important because the receiving has cancer sad to say this, but that didn't make no difference for this post office, I even wrote a letter about it and sent and left all the receipts with the supposed manager because I never saw her or him one of the picture with a little dog in that yellow envelope is the picture that they received and sent to me thanking me for sending this a small gift read more

Terrible! They seldom answer their phones. The mailman delivered my mail regardless of the mail hold. Had to call USPS 800 number several times from overseas because the mailman started delivering the mail in the middle of the hold period. They held the mail for a few days then he started to deliver the mail again. Had to check my cameras everyday. I specifically stated I would pickup my mail at the post office when I returned. So what did the mailman do? He delivered all of the hold mail and dumped it on my porch the day before the hold ended. Want a laugh? There was a note on top of the bundle of mail stating the end hold date and that the customer would pick up the mail at the post office. The mail consisted of visa statements, bank statements, insurance information and other important documents. On the porch! Really??? I'm very lucky the mail was not stolen. I have filed a complaint with USPS and am waiting to be able to speak with the mailman and his supervisor. I want answers!!!!!!! 25 Years And Counting! SITREP This is one of those "WTF?" moments when you realize you've been patronizing an establishment for soooooo lonnnnnnng that it has escaped one's Yelp radar for the longest time! THE SETUP When I first moved to Sacramento back in 1990, I had no idea what my living situation would be 3 months from then, 6 months from then, 1 year from then, 2 years from then, etc. But what I DID know is that I would be pretty much working near & about the Downtown / Midtown area of Sacramento since I had just gotten my first permanent full-time job with the State of California. [And to make a long story-short, flash-forward 25 years and that has been PRETTY MUCH borne out as fact for the better part of 3 decades!] P.O.BOX So. In 1990, I got a small P.O. Box at the Alhambra Post Office, not thinking that this box would become my MAIN receptacle for my important mail for freakin years to come, especially during the early years of my Sacramento residency since I lived in some pretty dam sketchy neighborhoods, where my cars was broken into, neighbors were conducting drug deals on the corner, and even beloved kitties were killed (poison, target-practice, you name it) - it would take a while & increased income to find a suitable residence. But even after entering into relationships - including a marriage - successive anticipated & completed movings from Natomas to Folsom to Antelope to Downtown out to Rosemont and back to Midtown (and some months of various kinds of couch-surfing in between - due to divorce, or to the roommate-holding-the lease-getting-evicted because surprise surprise they weren't paying the rent (but it was too late by that time), etc. - there was more peace of mind in keeping this P.O.Box over the years knowing that my flow of important mail (mortgage documents, personal records, medical records, credit & contract docs, CHECKS, etc. etc.) would not be stolen, disrupted, mishandled by neighbors, or destroyed. BOX COST Interestingly enough, my P.O.Box has been one of the most inflation proof items in my life: * The small box started out at $18 for a 6 month-period, and stayed there for 10 years! * Went up to $20 for a 6 month period, but then back down to $18 for a 6-month period and stayed there for about 5 more years. * Jumped up to $24 for a 6-month period for about 5 years * Was $30 for a 6-month period for a few years; and now, * Stands at $33 for a 6-month period for the last couple of years. I have to say for the peace of mind ALONE, it has been so worth having that little box. It terms of packages / items / checks / important documents NOT stolen, NOT broken, NOT I.D.-theft'd, etc. etc., it's been priceless. KUDOS So I "THANK!" the Alhambra Post Office for 25 years of pretty good service when it comes to my P.O. Box. There are some other customer service issues I could point out, but I'm not really in the mood right now to lay out common issues that exist at all Post Offices. What do you do when someone doesn't deliver a package when it CLEARLY says to deliver on a Saturday? Call a stupid call Center and wait on hold for one hour, that's what. I ordered a medium sized package from Japan-- shipping was fast overseas, about a week. But once it left San Francisco to go to Sacramento, it was a poop show. Missed the first delivery. Totally my fault and I wasn't mad. How can I be? So I went online and changed the redelivery to a Saturday, when I knew I would be home. This package needed my signature, so I was going to be home pretty much all day and for the one hour I went out, I left out the package slip on the door allowing USPS to leave the package at the door. I came home before what I thought was going to be the delivery time, so I took off the slip and waited. And waited some more. I waited until 8 pm before giving up. Then Monday came and went. No package. I called today and literally waited an hour on the phone waiting for someone to help me out. At this point, I just want this package returned and I want my money back. It just leaves a bad taste in my mouth that the stupid mail person or whoever is in charge of loading the mail trucks didn't do their jobs. Their incompetence is disgusting and quite frankly, aggravating. For redelivery requests, USPS asks for a 2 day grace period so the request can get updated into their system. I made the redelivery request on a Monday night so I could get the package on Saturday. Obviously that's more than 2 days, so IDK how USPS effed this up so badly. Their system for tracking packages and mail sucks because of the lag time. I don't know if the redelivery system is synced with the rest of the mail system, but if it isn't, USPS needs to step up their game. This is why FedEx and UPS are kicking your butts from here to kingdom come. They actually get the job done. The people in the call Center were nice I guess, but I'm too aggravated and frustrated. I kept it civil, but I think my disdain for USPS showed. One even wanted to know if I wanted the package redelivered even though the time limit to keep express packages expired yesterday. No, how can I trust the incompetency of this post office to redeliver my package when I'm not home? I told them explicitly to redeliver on a Saturday when I'm bloody home, and if you can't do that, well lucky the US government supports you. You would be bankrupt otherwise. ----- 5/2/18 On my way home, I saw the 2 mail carriers in my neighbourhood. One was sitting his butt on the sidewalk so nonchalantly while the other was unloading packages. There's two of you. I am baffled about how, not one, but two people missed a redelivery twice. I go to the post office more frequently than most people because I sell and ship items online. I have been to over a dozen post offices between Sacramento, Placer and Yuba County. This post office is by far THE BEST in everything! Best customer service offering two lines, one for quick services such as stamps or receipts only, and priority shipping. This is perfect for what I need since I preprint my labels and I only need shipping receipts with tracking. It's a matter of then scanning my package and printing the receipt to hand to me. They move quickly with a purpose! So much appreciated when i am constantly seeing other postal workers at other locations could care less if the line is 10-20 people deep, yet they're moving like molasses. The lobby is clean and large. This is a refreshing government-run facility sight to see!! Thank you to the incredible management here who obviously hire the right people to work here! read more

I love that this postal stays open just after the 5pm workday. I always feel bad though for the staff because just about that time, and especially on Fridays there is a line and people are often rude and inpatient. The staff really handle rude customers well though. They've got some serious GameFace! If you don't care to wait in line, are in a hurry, or are just a smug-faced person, head on down to the postal early in the day, perhaps before 2pm to not wait in line and so the rest of us don't have to put up with you. read more

They have a parking lot. It's busy at times and filled with bad drivers. Lines: Lots of times it's the odd customers and not the bad customer service that makes the line take so long. While standing in line you hear the oddest requests. I've been here twice and have had good helpful service. The last time I was there there was an extra person directing traffic. This post office has decently paced service. The location is a bit meh but being the only Post Office open in the weekend for the neighborhood helps. There is always someone who does express checkouts for prepaids during busy hours. I think this is a great feature. There are usually a full line of clerks- something that is not available at the other Post Offices I've been too. Thank you for servicing my shipments and keep it up! read more

This post office is like many others. There's usually a line even during a weekday when most people are at work, but it moves fairly quickly. The best time to pick up a package is early in the morning before the inner lobby opens. There's a before-hours pick-up door and the guy working there is very fast and efficient. My main issue with this post office is the occasional panhandler that stands outside the main door or even next to the "No Loitering/Begging" signs and ask for money. There isn't much enforcement. Otherwise, I like the self-serve machine inside. I only wish the lobby were open to access it on Sundays. Perhaps they need self-locking doors instead of the chains to keep people out during the evening hours. read more

Why is the mail guy in the doing an " express service" taking the time to write in slips of paper what you want so you can take that to the one clerk behind the counter she can read the skip still converse with you. It seems to be the guys time would be better spent behind the counter actually moving the line along. Instead if arguing with me how I want to mail my package.... My dad has been trying to send a package to me since August. It got returned to sender once already, so we had to ship a second time. This time we did ground shipping because our insurance did absolutely nothing to help the first time around. After noticing that it went from San Francisco to Hawaii I began to get suspicious, but for the past 2 weeks and even now, google said it was 'in transit' so I decided to call the customer support line. After 57 minutes of waiting, I reached someone who was very kind and courteous and empathized with the situation. She said she felt horrible that this happened, and she had only seen it twice in her 30 years working for USPS. She gave me a case number, specifically instructed that someone from the Hawaii branch where my package was last 'disposed of' would be contacting me in 2-3 business days. She even included the zip code for that office to indicate that someone from that location would help me get to the bottom of what happened to my package. Before I even got off the phone with her I was already receiving a call from this Sacramento location, from a man named Arthur. He left a voicemail and seemed eager to help. I was surprised by the quick turn around. Called him as soon as I was off the phone with the hotline. Things quickly turned sour after Arthur repeatedly told me to 'calm down' because I was 'talking too much' when I was simply relaying what had occurred over the past 3 months. I mistakenly thought, that by providing him with information he didn't have over what had happened with this package, I was actually helping him out, but it appears that only angered him. He repeatedly cut me off while I tried to explain what the woman on the phone told me. He didn't seem interested in hearing what she told me had happened and told me that pretty much everything she had said was incorrect. For example, the woman told me my package was routed to Hawaii in error and Arthur said this woman was wrong, and that my package was correctly sent from the San Francisco holding center to Hawaii. Because ground shipping often includes taking packages from San Francisco to Hawaii before eventually routing them back to Sacramento. He said my only option to get a refund for the shipping would be to go into the post office with a receipt. Because my dad had already gone to the post office 3 times about this package, I tried to save some time and see if they could refund the transaction any other way (since they could view everything on their end from when it was purchased, where, and for how much). Arthur said no that wasn't possible. Out of my own frustration, I mistakenly didn't take his words at face value, but began explaining other ways of handling the refund. He responded again, that unfortunately the only way would be to come in with a receipt and there is no other way to handle the refund. Finally after realizing Arthur was not interested in actually understanding what happened to my package (as the woman on the phone said the person would be reaching out to do, explain more information on what had happend, again, likely someone from Hawaii) I said, 'Ok well, we both don't have time for this and so if you say that is the only way, I'll let my dad know.' Arthur says, 'well there is 1 other option, but you wouldn't stop talking long enough for me to tell you.' By far one of the rudest comments I've ever heard from someone working at a business, where I was the customer. First of all, my story wouldn't have been so long winded if it hadn't been a 3 month saga. Or if I wasn't trying to fill someone in who was entirely removed from the situation (again, not someone from the Hawaii location for example). And, the duration in which I spoke has nothing to do with his repeated use of the phrase, 'The only option....' several times when referring to having to come in with a receipt. He clearly just wanted to be rude. I am sure USPS workers deal with difficult people all day. I am sure there were hints of frustration in my voice. But USPS destroyed my package in a 2nd attempt to send the same parcel, and not only had I just spent an hour on hold to talk to customer service, Arthur was now telling me everything I had just been told was wrong. Arthur, please consider a different line of work, if it is too cumbersome for you to be bothered with having to perform basic levels of customer service. read more

The most ratty Post Office ever! Weeds growing in the planters outside. The smell of urine around the front. The front door seems to be broken and it's been that way for decades. Graffiti on some areas. Trash all around the back fence. Sometimes there's crazies hanging out on the bench in front. To be fair, I've never had bad service here. Slow lines. Parking sucks. Had it not been for Tony's diligence and thoughtfulness, I would have mailed my passport renewal and it would have been returned to me. She and her boss Nancy even printed two sets of forms for me to complete to ensure that my application will be processed correctly. This location makes me see red every. time. I go in. I rarely get decent service or treated like I'm anything better than swamp muck. One set of instances always stands clear in my mind as to why I loathe this place so vehemently. Picture it: holiday season 2012. Pine and the smell of the bums on the curb is in the air. My loving mother, who lives 3,000 miles away, tells me she sent a package roughly around the end of November. She's a great gift-giver and I am VERY excited. Thoughts of whisky drinks dancing in my head. Two weeks go by. I am curious, but not worried. Usually it takes about that long to ship a flat-rate box filled with goodies from the great Northeast. Another week. It's now getting itchingly close to Christmas. Mother starts to worry, of course, because she reveals that the goodies are worth a few hundred dollars: a $50 bottle fine Irish whisky, four whisky nosing glasses, two $25 Visa gift cards, a framed print of my sister's senior portrait, and a framed picture of my father receiving a purple heart. A good box, right!? I call the location. They look for the box (or so they say) and say they find nothing. I tell them I haven't even received a slip in my mailbox saying that it's arrived. Is it possible it's lost? They don't know. They offer no remediation. Another week goes by. Roughly days before Christmas. I go in to the store. I stand at the half-door for a maddeningly long time, intermittently ringing the bell, until someone finally comes to the door. They find no box. I leave dejected. My mother sends another box. Of course with different items, so not as coveted, but still wanted. I receive this one in about a week. After Christmas, lo and behold, I receive a FINAL NOTICE to pick up my box. The first box. To put it bluntly, I flipped my shit (and scared the bejeesus out of my cat). A FINAL notice!? FINAL! Where were the first two?! I storm back to the post office, FINAL notice in hand and press my finger to the bell at the half-door until someone arrives at the door. It's a middle aged man I've never seen before. I tell him my story, in a rage, and he is somehow empathetic. I do not anticipate this and am thrown off of my high horse. He confides in me that he has come from another location to help this location get back to where it should be (and never has been, IMHO). He takes my FINAL notice and goes to look. Leaning against the door, I spy something familiar on the floor. My ... mom's handwriting? Is that you, ma? I lean in closer and see my name scrawled in my mother's lovely cursive that I've never been able to emulate. IT'S HERE! IT'S REALLY HERE! The gentleman comes back to the door and I see a look on his face like he's afraid to see what my bad side might ACTUALLY look like, and instead finds me jumping and pointing. The happiness was short-lived. This box looks like it went 5 rounds with Ali. Holes and scuffs and dents. Instead of taking it out on the man who is trying to fix the unfixable, I thank him profusely and leave. Fortunately, nothing in the box was damaged. And a second bottle of Irish whisky is always welcomed. A note on the front, written by an employee at the location, I deduced, showed that it arrived on December 7th. Since this occasion, I try my hardest to avoid this location. I advise anyone sane to do the same. read more

The true CARICATURE of the stone-faced postal worker is HERE! Ever wonder what it is liked to be "talked down to" like you are not worthy enough?- (i.e. the principal in Ferris Bueller). Or when you ask a simple question and your response in gruff, condescending, and abrupt - (i.e. "why can't you figure it out yourself attitude"). Or if you wondered what happened to that snotty little punk kid ( many thought deserved to be slapped to civility) in grammar school - you will find him working at this post office on Alhambra. His arrogance, insipid behavior, and condescending nature is easy to find. He will stare at you with a blank look, move a the same slo-mo pace - no matter how many people are in line. However, there is the extremely efficient funny looking dude with a sweet mullet and weird glasses. I gotta see what he looks like outside of work. Horrible, last time I was here I left in tears. It is true what other reviewers say about the Asian manager being a complete jerk. I needed to get a PO box because I didn't feel my mail was safe at my apartment. I ordered and pre-paid for it online. I rushed down there with my lease, ID's and passport. I stood in line for an hour with about 35 other people, because they only had one person working the front counter. When my turn finally came, the guy was being a jerk saying I didn't bring the right stuff to prove my identity, when I most certainly did. They pointed to the line where an additional tenant would have signed on the lease, and said since no one signed there, the lease wasn't signed and they refused to give me the PO box I had already paid for. The creepy manager took a picture of my lease with his cell phone. Violation of my privacy, but he didn't care. I tried to explain that no one co-signed the lease because I had no roommates and that I really needed the PO box and it was an EMERGENCY situation. But they were just jerks and refused to do anything to help me. They are horrible people, the whole lot of them needs to be fired and hung out to dry. read more

This place has horrible service and horrible communication amongst their staff. I rarely ever give places 1 star, but this one really bothered me. I went there yesterday to see if I could pick up my package early. A young African American lady helped me and she seemed really nice! I told her my situation and then I asked her to give me a call once my package arrives at the post office. I wrote my name, phone number, address, and tracking # down and then...I awaited the phone call. Still by 3:00pm, I didn't get a phone call. I check my tracking again by 4:50 and it says it arrived at the post office by 2:37pm. So, my bf and I drove there because on their site, it says they close at 5:45pm. We get there and they're closed!! At this point, I am irritated and pissed! I ended up brushing it off my shoulders one more time and decided to just pick it up the next morning with the hopes that someone got my note about my package. So, today I drop by (since I looked at their time and it said it would open by 9:30am) and I'm hoping that my package is there. Let me remind you that this is our 3rd time at this post office trying to get my package. Anywho, I got there and there's a long line of people waiting. I wait patiently, but only to arrive at the customer service and to be let down AGAIN. UGH! They inform me that the message was not delayed and my shipment was already on the delivery truck. My dilemma was that I needed my package this morning...not this afternoon! Ugh! I really dislike this place and their horrible customer service. I am definitely not a happy customer. read more

So, here is the review: + parking lot, can almost always get a spot. + self-service postage kiosk + Saturday hours + lots of cards if you're in a last minute bind to send a birthday wish or other greeting to a loved one + lots of shipping supplies available for purchase (or free if you're using Priority Mail option) - consistency of quality customer service... there isn't any consistency. It's hit and miss. But, they seem to have lots of new staff to this location, perhaps to improve ratings? In recent months it seems to be much improved. - packages delivered here can be misplaced and/or take forever to find at times ... And, it's the post office. I have had consistently sub par service from this Post Office. When my regular carrier is ill or on vacation it is a crap-shoot if my mail is actually delivered to my home. I live in a Victorian with the mail slot in the front door. Many times the mail is just dropped on the porch. Recently, a substitute mail carrier decided all on her own that my house was vacant and had all my mail returned to sender. Huh? How can a letter carrier and a substitute one at that make such an important determination with such a harsh consequence. When I returned from vacation with only a handful of mail waiting for me I went to the office and was told this. It was a Saturday and I explained to the Supervisor that I am very much living there and want mail delivered. 3 days later still no delivery. I returned to the office and this time got the Postmaster, Shauna who actually did some investigation and discovered what happened and removed the vacant designation. read more

I hate this place. I have had a PO Box here for the last year and, if changing addresses wasn't such a pain in the ass, I would find a new mail box place. I don't know if the Asian guy with glasses in an owner / manager but I do know that they guy is a complete jerk and I hate dealing with that guy. Don't bother ever trying to call like if you have problems renewing your post office box fee or if the homeless people that camp inside during the weekends harass you because they NEVER answer the phone and the message box is full. read more

What is up with your BS, "In transit, arriving late" garbage that has been happening with almost every single package I ship lately??? Along with losing my mail and not delivering things that are at clearly marked addresses. AND overcharging me for shipping I have already paid for and WEIGHED myself! This is fraud and illegal!!! USPS seriously needs to start hiring more competent people...this is getting RIDICULOUS! You raise your rates and your service gets even worse! If I could, I would never use your services again. Unfortunately that is not an option and you know it. I better not lose yet more money because I used your BS services to ship my pckages!
