There is another staff helping regarding the PO boxes customers. The Parking: private parking lot, can be crowded in the late afternoon Besides 2 kiosks inside the office, there are 1 more in the lobby so people can use after office hours. I've lived in the neighborhood almost 5 years. There are other post offices but this one is like home. The workers are all nice. I even bump into them at different stores around the area. I like coming to a place where people remember you, like to chat a little and are personable. Never thought I'd say that about a post office but I always have a great experience or a good laugh by the time I leave. I don't understand how some say they are slow. Come on even when the line is out the door it moves and someone always comes from the back to help out. I was sending boxes of books to a cousin, and our daughter wrapped them in clothing because we didn't have bubble wrap (I learned this later, but it looked only like clothes on top at first and I didn't push the matter due to not being aware.) I first have to say that my regular mailman is awesome and extremely reliable and very professional and never have had any problems with him. Thank You Jose! This review is solely for the physical location and going to that office to use their services. Never trust them to enter your tracking number when you drop it off. Or expect to get a package sent by them on time. I can't tell you how many times that my priority packages I drop off I never get entered into the system and are usually 1 to 2 days late compared to when I give packages to my postman. who is also based out of that Sherman Oaks location. I ship a lot of priority boxes with prepaid printed shipping labels. I rarely ever have any problems of late deliveries or non-tracking issues when I give it to my postman but I have to say eight out of 10 packages that I give to the Sherman Oaks post office DOES have issues and rarely are entered/scanned into the system. Causing me to call them or open an investigation into where my packages are. The last three were un-trackable and the only way I knew they were received is when it was dropped off and they were late. Clearly there is a problem inside that office and caution anyone going there. The best thing is to find a mail truck give them a package and have them scan it while you are standing there, then they are responsible for getting it off in time and you'll be able to see it immediately online where it is. read more

This is strictly in regards to the 24 hr self service kiosk. The flat rate envelopes and boxes are never restocked. Shelves are always empty, so make sure you already have what you need. Also, if the machines are not out of service (which they have been 2 or 3 times in the last month), you can almost bet on priority Dropbox being jammed. Literally jammed 70% of the time which is a shame for people who work outside of 9-5, and this is the only way we can ship items. Very frustrating. Don't waste your time, just go to the main USPS in Van Nuys not too far away. read more

Until recently I had never really shipped anything. The staff at this office are so so nice. Very helpful and patient. Even when it's 5 and there's a line out the door. I've been here 3 times now and everyone is great. The lady with the long braids is very sweet and really takes the time to explain to everyone the different options. I dropped off my Christmas package Priority to my friend in Hawaii, December 19, 2017. It is now January 02, 2018. She never received this package, tracking never updated, leaves me to believe it has been stolen. Very upsetting and annoying. This is one of the better post offices I've been to in the LA area. I went at a particularly busy time of day (lunch time, around 12:30pm), and this office had 3 attendants working stations, so the line moved quickly. The attendants are helpful, professional, and respectful. read more

I'm gladly moving my PO after what I just experienced. The post office sent multiple packages of orders I made last week back to the senders. I have receipts showing when they were purchased and the rude teller accused me of letting them sit there for over 30 days. He said the paper I had are only printed if the package was there for over 39 days. They weren't even there a week. I told them I ordered them last week and he said I was lying. I have had PO boxes here for over 25 years between myself and family members and have never been treated with such disregard. I also had to wait 20 min in line just to get them to look at my package slips that were put in my PO. I suggest better training or just firing this employee. Being rude to customers when you are clearly wrong is just a joke. read more

No complaints about the in-person service. However, at no time, will an employee ever answer telephone calls. Without exception, for each attempted call, the phone rings for several minutes, then the call is disconnected. Apparently, the telephone isn't necessary for this post office. Great post office service! They had three people working the service stations and the line moved quickly and efficiently. I have never been here before and am usually hesitant on trying out new ot offices because the service can be crazy ridiculous at times, but not here. I needed to send a letter by priority mail and it cost me $6.45 flat and came with usps tracking. The parking lot is set up in a one way enter and exit fashion with the entrance on magnolia and exit on Kester. There is plenty of parking and it is located right on the corner. read more

This has become one of the worst post offices I've dealt with. Their posted hours are not accurate, nobody answers the phone during business hours anymore, and the majority of their postal workers that are delivering mail destroy packages and do not pay attention to notes on mailboxes. There is only one delivery person in my area by the name of Rod, that is AMAZING, while all other delivery personnel are extremely lacking. I want to support the US Postal Service but I cannot keep supporting a service that is losing money for me. This is the time of year when people are having many packages delivered to their homes for holiday gifts. It is unacceptable that packages are being smashed inside mailboxes and completely destroyed, especially with big red signs on the mailboxes that say no packages inside please. This location needs to promote Rod and have him train all of the delivery personnel for Sherman Oaks. This would improve customer experience and would also save the post office and their clients money by decreasing the amount of excessive returns due to damaged products from your delivery personnel. To be clear, packages are not being damaged in shipping, they are being damaged by being miss handled from the delivery personnel. read more

I seriously just had the best post office visit experience of all time. I just recently moved to the area and needed to pick up a package. I went in on a Saturday and all 3 stations were opened. There was a small line of about 6 people but the line moved very quickly. What I am most impressed about is that they had an additional person who was greeting the line and if there is something that can be done at the automated machine, he would walk the person over and show them how to do it so they don't have to wait. He also helped grab our mail for people like me who were just there to pick up our mail. The staff was so friendly and efficient. I have never seen that in another post office before. I'm so glad that this is my local post office. read more

Had a USPS money order I needed to cash (M.O was not a huge amount of money) and was oddly and loudly told by the Asian female cashier that every cashier in entire post office had less than $80 in their drawers. Of course this is probably true, however the entire post office should have enough funds to cash a money order that's for a couple of hundred bucks. There was also no mention of the inconvenience of the situation or apology. This post office is great! They work quickly and their customer service is excellent. They did some hand stamping for our wedding invitations so that they retained their quality without getting run through a machine. Also, our delivery carrier always makes sure our mail and packages make it to us in one piece. We're very lucky to have them. Finally, I just called to have an issue resolved about a mix-up, and the customer service person on the phone at this location was very helpful. I got a slip instructing me to come pick up a package at this location. I went and was told the package could not be found and that I should return another day. When I returned they still couldn't find it, but that's not why I gave them 1 star. What really p*ssed me off was that one of the employees butted in and said she remembered seeing me there a few days before...and that I'd already picked up the package!!! Talk about adding insult to injury! There was nothing I could do to prove otherwise, so I had to leave and that's that. Fortunately the package was delivered to me about a month later. I assume it got mis-sorted. I understand things happen, but I did not appreciate being acused of lying/pulling a fast one when I was doing exacty what they told me to do! read more

I was able to call the post office and immediately get through to a supervisor regarding home delivery issues. He looked up my information and made notes to assist delivery personnel. This wasn't an address change. Some of my mail was getting returned to sender. The supervisor was on top of the situation. I hope his fine efforts work. read more

Came here several times now at different times during the weekday and weekend. Can get pretty busy, but from my experiences the longer lines go quickly enough and parking never seems to be much of a problem. Thanks to the fully staffed registers inside, spaces are usually being freed up rather quickly. Looks wise, I would say this seems like a shadier, dingier looking post office than many that I have been to, but they are fully operational so no complaints from me. Each time I've been to the counter so far, the staff has been very pleasant, helpful and knowledgable. I appreciate that. Not a lot of post office workers seem happy doing what they do from what I've been able to tell. The last few times I've visited here, a part of the entrance has been boarded up and roped off with caution tape. Looks like someone drove their car into the building's entrance. I hope they can get that door fixed. It makes the overall visual demeanor of the place look uninviting to passer-byers. read more

The most fabulous employees work here. I will go out of my way to come to this post office over other locations because everyone who works here is so friendly and accommodating and super patient. I've been terrified to go to other post offices because the employees can be so brusque and impatient. But in Sherman Oaks, they're very helpful and do their jobs expertly without making you feel like a burden. I have come in here before with hundreds (I'm not lying when I say hundreds here, I mean actual hundreds) of packages at once from a non-profit project, and these post office angels have been amazing taking care of us. More than once, we were there at least an hour or two past closing hours, but they stayed with us to make sure we got all of our packages taken care of. Absolute angels. read more
