I tried US Thai today for the first time. It was great. You don't go there for the atmosphere, that's for sure, but the service and food were great!! I had the Pad Thai with chicken, my husband had the garlic delight, and a friend had the lemongrass soup. We all loved what we had. You can order different spice levels. I went with mild plus. I like spice, but it was a bit hot for my taste. I'd go with mild next time. My husband went with mild plus, and his wasn't as spicy as mine. He'd go with medium next time. I think the spice level may vary within the level, maybe based on the dish, which makes it difficult to know what to recommend. read more

First Thai experience since moving to Denver! The price cannot be beat - super affordable and has me wanting to try things I've never had. The quality, however, can definitely be beat. I had the Pad Kapow it was, well...not Pad Kapow. Typically served with minced vegetables, a flavorful sauce, tons of basil, and ground chicken - this had none of that. Super spicy! But oh so good. I was excited to try this place after reading all the Yelp reviews. Do note that they close on Mondays, so we had to rearrange some things. I sadly didn't listen to all the reviews praising the spice level here. I figured that was only for the hotter levels, so I opted for the Mild+ thinking surely I could handle that. Oh man I was wrong... We placed our order in person. I got the pad kee mao at Mild+ spice. The area is really nice so we just walked around the surrounding streets. There's a huge park with a lake nearby while you wait. The order took about 30 minutes, then we drove home. The pad kee mao was filled with thick pieces of noodle, and lots of spices. I immediately regretted my decision. It was really flavorful, but the spice made eating very prolonged as I had to keep taking breaks. If someone told me that one of the best thai places would be in Denver, I wouldn't believe them...UNTIL NOW! What a hidden gem this place is. Located near Sloan's Lake, US Thai is serving up some delicious (and spicy) thai food for all to enjoy. During our mid-May Denver vacation, we ordered pad kee mao and pad kapao (takeout, both mild spicy) right before the dinnertime rush. Our order took about 20 minutes to make and the front of house staff was kind and courteous throughout our experience. We took our meal home and the smells throughout the car was making it hard to not pullover to eat! We finally dug into our food and boy was it good. The noodles were cooked perfectly and the flavors were punchy and spot on! The only issue I had was being a bit too ambitious and ordering mild. They take spice SERIOUSLY here...so choose your spice level accordingly. A mild left me panting from the heat (haha). Definitely on the list to come back! read more

Some of the best Thai food in Denver but they don't mess around with spice!! We have come here on 2 separate occasions for good Thai food. We typically walk in and don't have any issues with finding a table. I don't believe they take reservations but they are constantly spitting our Togo orders. The wait staff seat you quickly, provide water, and take your order very promptly. They don't have a ton of seating, but it has never been an issue even during peak dinner hour. We ordered our favorite Thai dishes: thai fried rice, Penang curry, and pad see ew which all did not disappoint. DISCLAIMER ON THE SPICE: We can handle spice but the Medium was too spicy for us. The US Thai we've all come to love is no more...?? I've been eating US Thai for years and like other reviewers have noted, they are likely under new ownership after going on a hiatus for over a month in early 2022. While they were closed for over a month, I checked Google and Yelp religiously hoping the temporarily closed icon would disappear so that I could once again savor the amazing Thai food that's served up by the wonderful cooks and the other staff, who knew me by name and smiled and chatted with me every time I came in. After checking today to see that it reopened, I went to yelp immediately and was concerned when I saw another reviewer note that none of the old staff was working, including the cooks. I was terrified and had to investigate myself. So I called in my order: the usual pineapple fried rice and drunken noodles, and the woman on the other line said the food would be ready in 5 mins, which is way too fast compared to what US Thai normally can do. I picked up my food in about 20 minutes since I had to drive there, I was greeted by completely new and different people. The US Thai sign out front was removed so not sure what's happening there, but I was even more nervous not recognizing anybody inside. Food wise... while the physical takeout container is the same, the portions are less. Loyal fans will know that US Thai packs their containers to the top. This one was nowhere close to being filled. Also, I ordered Mild + because while I love eating spicy food, I'm not trying to die and folks who have been coming here no that they don't mess around with their heat. Today's Mild + was more like Mild - because it was not spicy at all and there were no chilis in the food. The drunken noodles were not the same and tasted like it was a new recipe. The pineapple fried rice was on the drier side and I could taste that it was also different, which is a huge bummer. The new food isn't bad, but it's not special like it used to be. Not sure if this is a permanent change but I want the old US Thai back I'll give them one more shot, but I think I might have to move on and mourn the loss of an institution here in Denver. read more

Today was my second visit to US Thai. On my first visit I had green curry and while it was good, I didn't rush home to write a review. Today I had the Drunken Noodles with beef, medium + and it was outstanding. Not really as hot as I expected so I will probably go for hot next time. Their prices are very reasonable by today's standards and the service was great. I sat outside on the patio in the shade on a beautiful September day, a great relaxing environment. Used to be good bang-for-the-buck, but they recently hiked the prices drastically. On April 16th, I got my pad thai takeout for $12.21 after tax, the price it's been for the last three years. After three days of driving across the country, any dish not served in a paper wrapper is a step in the right direction. Jokes aside, I plan to add US Thai Cafe to our rotation of surrounding restaurants! Thai cuisine has always comforted me. The sauces, the spices, the starches. When you discover a nondescript, hole-in-the-wall you almost don't want to tell the world about it. Yet I can't help myself from showing love for local establishments. We were seated immediately upon arrival. The menu has all the Thai staple dishes one desires when frequenting a mom & pop place like this. Consider it, no frills. Prices are extremely modest for what you get! Papaya Salad - Divine! I classify this as a must order. It's a beautiful starter to open up your palette. Tart and spicy, everything about this was perfect. Very refreshing and cleansing. Pad Soy - Most of us know this dish as Pad See Ew. I chose mine with Beef. The beef was rich in flavor, but the noodles were the undeniable star of the show. Smooth and velvety in texture. I thought the spinach was an odd choice of veggies, I personally would've preferred something different like broccoli or bell peppers. Affordable, quick, and delicious. Really solid Thai spot that is not messing around when it comes to spice! Take everyone's advice and err on the mild side if it's your first time here! This place is wildly popular for takeout and probably does 100+ takeout orders nightly but it's no surprise why. They make everything fresh (you can see them cooking when you walk in) and charge insanely low prices. We've ordered two entrees and walked away with a $22 tab. They could seriously charge so much more for the high quality product they produce. US Thai Cafe is worth the hype. Oh my godddd this place is so amazing!! The service is SO quick, as in my food has never taken longer than 10 minutes to hit my table! It is also incredibly affordable which is very rare for Thai food in Colorado. And for the price it is absolutely delicious. We got the pork dumplings, Thai tea, pad Thai and mango sticky rice and they were all to die for. Definitely NOT the best Thai place in town!!! I was excited to try this place out after seeing all the great reviews but I am quite disappointed in the mediocrity of the food. The only thing that this place exceeds at is the spice level. We ordered two milds and two mediums. The mediums were way too SPICY for medium spice. They did warn that the medium is spicy but what I was disappointed by was that the food was just covered in red pepper flakes which has a different spice profile compared to Thai birds eye chilies. Here's what I ordered from US Thai: chicken satay, pork egg rolls, Peanang curry mild with chicken, massaman curry mild with chicken, chicken pad Thai medium with chicken, and jungle curry medium with chicken. The best from this list were the Peanang curry and the massaman curry, which honestly kinda tasted and looked the same with different veggies. The jungle curry was alright. And the rest were a little disappointing. Chicken satay: when I think of chicken satay, I think of grilled chicken skewers with some grill marks or charring from the grilling process. The chicken satay here looked yellow from the food coloring and that was the only color on them, it was definitely not grilled, not even pan seared. It looked like it was boiled... take one look at the photo and you will see how sad it is. The chicken was also as bland as it was sad looking. The chicken was also dry. The peanut sauce that came with it provided some flavor but I think it should be able to stand on it's own. I give this 0.5/5 (I can't even bring myself to give it a 1) Egg rolls: I've never had egg rolls that looked like fried hush puppies. They look like normal egg rolls that have been battered and deep fried... I've had Thai egg rolls before and it's not like this. Maybe this was local to a certain region? I'm not sure. It was definitely not as good as a normal egg roll but the sauce that accompanied it was quite good, it was a balance of spicy and sour and sweet - signature of Thai flavor. I give this 1/5 Chicken pad Thai (medium spicy): all I could taste was the red pepper flakes that coated every strand of noodle. There was no other taste, no sourness, no sweetness, it wasn't savory enough either, just spicy!!! Not red chili pepper spicy but dried red pepper flakes kind of spicy. I can take spicy food but this was just spicy without the flavor! There wasn't much in the dish besides a little amount of chicken, eggs, and barley any veggies like bean sprouts. I give this 2/5 Jungle curry with chicken (medium): this was my first time actually having jungle curry so I cannot compare it to what I think it should taste like. But overall, there was a balance of sourness, sweetness, and spice from fresh chili peppers. The dish had many veggies in it (egg plant although not Thai egg plant, green beans, bell peppers, bamboo shoots, button mushrooms, carrots, onions, baby corn) and a little bit of thin sliced chicken. It was spicy but not as spicy as the pad Thai and a different spice profile. I give this 3/5 Massaman curry with chicken (mild): this was the most mild out of all the curries and pad Thai. The curry came with some potatoes and onions. I think overall it was pretty good. I give this 3.5/5 Peanang curry with chicken (mild): this was probably the best tasting dish. It was very similar to the massaman curry but a little bit more spicy and less sweet. I give this 4/5 All the chicken in the dishes were the same thinly cut meat that ended up being dry. I think curries should have more chunky chicken (whereas pad Thai should have thinly cut chicken) to withstand the long cook time and prevent it from drying out. Not to mention, they also really skimped out on the chicken in general. The meal also came with two small things of rice, I think they should have given us three since we ordered three curries... So overall this place is about a 2.5/5 in my book. Maybe I'll come back and give them another shot sometime down the line. But this experience was pretty meh... read more

Best local Thai food in Denver area. I love this place! I really like the pad seiw; which I think I spelled wrong, oops. Anyways, a great wide noodle dish with soy sauce base, egg, Chinese broccoli and choice of meat. I got the chicken, but the beef and shrimp are both good as well. I'll start by saying we love us thai food. It's our go to place and has the best Thai food we've found. The first time we tried this place we were seated and the waitress didn't greet us for 30 minutes although she had walked by at least a half dozen times. Despite this, the food was great. After this, we decided that takeout is probably the best approach. 80% of the time our food is ready to go at our pickup time. On a few occasions, including today, when we arrived, the restaurant is an absolute nightmare. At least 10 other people waiting for their orders, no employee even is willing to stop and check in with us. Another customer we spoke to, her order was more than a half hour over due. As I'm writing this, we're still waiting for our food. Despite their food being excellent, their inconsistent timing, lack of customer service, and zero acknowledgement when they keep patrons waiting, has negatively impacted our opinion of this establishment. read more

Wow, did my mild+ chicken Pad Thai have some heat to it! I typically do medium to hot, but the waitress asked if I had theirs before. So glad she asked and I changed it to mild+. I am definitely a fan of this place and of their Pad Thai and crab wontons (sooo crispy with a great creamy filling). It's always my go to when checking out a new spot. Sadly, I can't say many places get it right (at least in my humble opinion). But US Thai did! Great spice, well cooked noodles, and a delicious sauce! Only wish it had a little egg (like a lot of places do) and some crunch from peanuts (also like a lot of other places). Finally nabbed an order Sunday at noon!! We had seen this place on reddit's Best Of so often, especially for its unparalleled spice level. We got one Pad Kaprow (Medium) and one Drunken Noodles (Mild+) to split (testing to see if the medium spice was too hot, we could dilute w/ the noodles). I really think Medium might be the perfect spice level for a regular meal - enough that one bite was very flavorful, but multiple in a row would initiate nose leaking and eyes watering. Like I said... perfect!!!! Portions are huge, prices are cheap (~$9), and I thought the sauce in the Pad Kaprow was extremely delicious and wanted to pour it over everything I ate the rest of the day. Pad Thai is generally dime-a-dozen in my view, but theirs is as good as anywhere else, and helped by the fact you can get it about as spicy as is safe for human consumption. I enjoy fairly hot food, and their hot was more than enough. I can't imagine what Thai hot would be like. Where they really shined is with the green curry, which was sweet and salty and savory and comforting and delicious. I'm also blown away at the portions you can get for like $11. But this is hands down the best Thai food in Colorado (30 years in the state, Thai food fiend). My dishes are always perfectly spiced. Everything is fresh and real. Food was disappointing. The spring rolls (appetizer) were ok. The curries were not as good or flavorful as we were expecting. Compare to others Thai Restaurant, this one seems cheap with the amount of veggies on the curries. They used a lot of potatoes, which were not well cooked, and onions to filled our curries dishes. The bowls of curries and the portions of rice were small. We had to ordered extra rice ($2). The prices are low, around $13 for the bowl of curries, but I would have prefer to pay more and get a better curries with more veggies. Service was mediocre. After receiving the food the waitress did not came back. I had to called the waitress over one time to asked for more rice and twice to refills the sodas. She filled the sodas cups with so much ice (picture attached), it's was ridiculous! The hours in Yelp are incorrect. They closed for around a hour in the afternoon, in between lunch and dinner. We arrived around 30 minutes before that closing time without knowing it. By the time we were done and tried to leave, we couldn't get out because they had locked the door, which I believe is a fire hazard for people inside the place. read more

This is probably one of the best Thai restaurants I have experienced since I have been here in Denver. The restaurant is small and quaint, but the flavors AINT. If you are a spice fanatic you better start with MILD-MEDIUM because anything above that you'll be sweating. I ordered the Pad See Mao and goodness it was delicious. Noodles cooked to perfection, chicken and veggies were fresh, and the sauce was full flavored. I am a huge spice person, and I went with Medium. There was still a kick in that dish. I was visiting from out of town and came here for dinner. The service was super friendly! And they helped me make some decisions for ordering. I got the Garlic Delight (one of the house specials) and it was so good I've been trying to find some version of that dish back home. I got "mild plus" as my spice level and thought that was great! It is always hard to put spice level into context but I usually get medium at places that are scaled to the American taste, and I usually get mild at Thai and Indian places where the scale is less American-adjusted. read more

THIS PLACE HAS CHANGED! My absolute hands down favorite Thai spot for over 8 years is no longer. I'm devastated and that is putting it lightly. Us thai has been reliable, consistent and truly out of this world special. We've ordered almost every Friday since covid hit. My issues: I'm not sure if it's new ownership or what but all the front of house and cook staff are different. When my husband inquired about the change of staff he was told he must be mistaking. Transparency and honesty would go a long way in keeping our business! Food wasn't spicy. If you know this spot you know their spice wasn't messing around. Each dish we ordered was a different level and nothing had that true US Thai kick. The care that was always put in coupled w the depth of flavor...all gone. It's not terrible food- but certainly not what it was. Dish ingredients have changed. Our garlic delight had zero vegetables and it's usually packed full which is why we love it. The garlic sauce was hardly garlicky. We didn't get the pineapple fried rice we ordered which is just all time favorite (maybe I'm glad I didn't have to try the new version!?).
