It took a while just to get menus, and plates we asked for never arrived. The bartender was quick, but our server seemed preoccupied the whole time. When I arrived today, Aracely had decided to do a mandatory $75 pre-fix buffet without notifying those, like myself, who had made a reservation ahead of time. When I told the manager that this wasn't going to be feasible with our budget and that we are really upset and disappointed to arrive on Mother's Day for our brunch at our favorite restaurants only to find out we can't enjoy ourselves here. The restaurant asked us to confirm our reservation yesterday and didn't say anything about this expensive buffet. The manager called the owner and the two of them defended the restaurant and told us that their hands were tied and could not do anything for us. I told him that I had been coming here and bringing customers to the restaurant for the past ten years and he was unmoved. We left and don't plan to ever return. Instead we went to Mersea, the other wonderful restaurant on Treasure Island. We paid $15/meal for their delicious Mother's Day menu and enjoyed views of the city and amazing live music there. Highly recommend the unpretentious experience and chill vibes of Mersea rather than wasting you time and money at Aracely's Cafe.

To make a reservation, you call the general # for the Job Corps dining at 415-277-2400. My friend made a phone call and left a message. She didn't hear back for two weeks. So leave a message and be patient. Your phone call will be returned. Located on Treasure Island, the Job Corps culinary building is on federal government property. You need to show I.D. You'll be issued visitor passes & a parking permit. Upon your exit, you'll need to return the parking pass & issued visitor passes. The students are eager to learn and to serve you. We requested a tour of the culinary building and our server Adam guided us through the various culinary kitchens. We spoke to the pastry chef & the culinary chef. The pastry chef even offered to box us some petit fours to takeaway. That was very sweet. Overall a great 2 hours spent for good reasons. Our satisfied tummies and the students opportunity to interact with the public. Definitely a win/win.

The meals were gorgeous and very tasty and truly an enjoyable experience. Areas for improvement: When you're trying to make a reservation they verbally speak the address so you could email them but after five attempts I still cannot get the correct email address so I having it short and sweet would make that part of the reservation system easier for all concerned. You arrive there about 1145 with the plan on being seated and placing your orders. They start seating you around 12:10 PM and finish up close to 2 o'clock. Again the meals are beautifully presented and very tasty but I don't think they plan ahead at all to start making the meals as they took a very long time to come out. On our experience one of our table of eight didn't even receive her meal till about 30 minutes after all of us were already eating and pretty much finished moving forward towards our desserts. Mistakes do happen but they should've at least offered the person waiting some hors d'oeuvres crackers cheese and meats to hold them over because it was embarrassing eating in front of her. I would definitely go back for the experience but now that I know I will plan on not finishing till after 2 PM and taking about a half hour to 45 minutes to drive back to work or any other activities I need to get done for the day.

The 2nd visit the service was impeccable, everything went exactly as we had hoped. We will be back. We can recommend the scallops and the Salmon, the chicken was very tasty. Also, for the food, I recommend the dips and the fresh pitas, so good. We'll be back just for that. Reminds me of the old Berkeley restaurant years ago, Holy Land (IYKYK). Mmmm. Thanks!

The sandwich comes with a small dressed salad and three tomato halves. It was nice. The potatoes served with the sandwich were roasted but served cold and dry. Like they were left over from the night before. Randy enjoyed his mocha. We shared a very dry, flavorless except for the two small bits of jam in them, "cheese" danish. Definitely skip this $7 item that you could get at a circle k for $1.50 and it would taste fresher. You order when you walk in and someone delivers your order and then you're left to fend for yourself. We were able to locate some ketchup for the potatoes on our own. Nobody ever checked on us. This is the second place on this visit that's charging an extra 5% fee so that their employees can have a living wage and health insurance, which absolutely, every employee should have. With the prices they charge, they should already be able to do that, though. I read an article about this fee with many different names and I would rather pay a bit higher of a price and know the employees were taken care of than be surprised by this fee later. Two sandwich breakfasts, a mocha and a danish on top of tax and their healthy sf fee was $63. Steep for the quality we got. Won't be back.

By sheer luck, my birthday coincided with the 4-course for $45 promotion they were running for their 10-year anniversary. I had to jump at the opportunity, especially since the menu was built from the all time favorite items at the restaurant since their opening. I really couldn't think of a better way to experience a restaurant for the first time. While some set course meals have a few misses, this one was just hit after hit the entire way through. I really felt as if every course was complimentary, but different enough in their own way to stand on their own and make an impact. Tldr: the food was amazing! The icing on the cake (figuratively and literally) was just how far they went out of their way to make my birthday night special. Exceptional service, bringing out a complimentary dessert with a candle, and even leaving a personalized card elevated this experience to the next level. Would highly recommend paying Trestle a visit, and I can't wait for the next time I'm able to try their new menus myself!

We visited around Christmas, so the cozy little space felt extra festive. The restaurant is quite small, which added to the charm, though it did get pretty loud during dinner service. As for the food, both the presentation and flavors were decent but not particularly memorable. Nothing really stood out or left a lasting impression. Without exaggeration, this was one of, if not the best Michelin-star tasting menu experiences we've ever had. From the moment you walk in, it's clear that every detail has been thoughtfully considered. The restaurant itself is stunning. The colors and materials throughout the kitchen and dining room flow together perfectly, creating a space that feels warm, intentional, and incredibly inviting. One of my favorite touches was noticing radishes hanging from the ceiling as decor, only to later learn they were actually being dry-aged for service. That perfectly sums up Birdsong: everything has a story and a purpose. Even the plates are part of the experience. Every course is served on custom pieces, including beautiful boxes and stone-like vessels that open to reveal what's inside. We learned that a local pottery artist creates them specifically for Birdsong using foraged clay. The amount of care and craftsmanship put into every aspect of the meal is honestly remarkable. What really sets Birdsong apart, though, is the team. Many of the dishes were presented by the chefs who created them, and each person took the time to explain the inspiration behind the dish and how best to enjoy it. You could genuinely feel how passionate everyone was about both the food and the guest experience. Chef Chris also stopped by every table to check in, and it was obvious how much pride he takes in both his craft and his team. We left with huge smiles on our faces, and somehow the 3.5-hour experience absolutely flew by. As for the food, every single dish was exceptional. I loved how many courses included an element of surprise -- a box or stone opening to reveal a culinary masterpiece, or a dish that appeared simple at first glance but unfolded into layers of complex flavors and textures with each bite. The standout dish of the evening was the egg custard with corn and sweetbreads. We added the bone marrow and caviar, which elevated it to another level entirely. Rich, decadent, and completely unforgettable. I could eat that dish every day, although my diet probably wouldn't appreciate it. My wife's favorite was the cherry dessert with buttermilk and sorrel, served with fresh blackberries and an incredible vanilla cream. Pro tip: make sure to get a little vanilla cream on every bite. They generously provide plenty, and it makes an already amazing dessert even better. Other highlights included the abalone, black cod, and surprisingly, the dry-aged radishes with smoked trout roe, which delivered some of the most memorable flavors and textures of the night. One final bonus: parking was incredibly easy. There's a secure garage just a block away for around $20, which made the entire evening completely stress-free -- a rarity in San Francisco. Birdsong isn't just dinner; it's an experience. We can't wait to return.

I got the discovery menu with the reserve pairing. Also the caviar and cornbread. I was full and satisfied but not stuffed. Love the stone dinner wear. Personally a fan of the music that night, Alanis Morissette and Tracy Chapman kinda vibe. I enjoyed the attention to the different preparation of the same ingredients. Also the use of texture and visual aspects. Hidden crispness in velvety foams gave me the best kind of surprises. The quail plum quail and the california Cod with the bread were stand outs for me... Also the Sake. Mixed into the parings was a pleasant addition. The desert kinda fell flat for me. A kind of fruit mochi with foam ambrosia was a disappointing way to end a decent meal. Service was friendly but sort of stiff. Small mistake but got still water after asking for sparkling.
