The order pick up area can get crowded, but there was space for us. We went across the street to the benches to eat our bagels. I got a freshly baked sesame with walnut cream cheese. My husband got a blueberry with butter. There was a LOT of butter. There was a big textural difference between the whipped cream cheese and the block of butter. The bagels are okay. The outer skin is not soft as some reviewers have claimed. The skin is harder than others and the bagels require a lot of chewing as if the dough is overworked or a high protein flour is used. Flavors are as most of the other good bagel shops in the city offer. read more

A convenient option near my neighborhood, however I'm not sure why I keep going back. I've been about 6-8 times since it opened. -everything bagel, plain cream cheese. Solid choice. -whitefish salad , side of. Good flavor but too smooth, blended, pulverized IMO. -Asiago bagel, egg, hash brown. Little flavor, hash brown also little flavor. I prefer my hash browns crispy which these were not. I thought the bagels were really very good here - slightly less dense than the average in NYC with a nice crispy surface and chewy center. The cream cheese really topped everything off beautifully - light and creamy and even with loads on, not overpowering. Would recommend the everything toasted with regular cream cheese. The food is wonderful, and the staff are happy, pleasant, helpful and the vibe, overall, is great. People are complaining about the price. It's in one of the most expensive areas of the city. Paying $15-$20 for a meal, in that area is cheap or normal. Also the portions are large and filling. Next time I'm in the area, I'm going back. Definitely recommend it. read more

Very busy on the weekend, but the line was quick! Very organized. I got a bagel with cream cheese. It was delicious.

I would say staff were very nice and doing their best during a rush of orders. We got there around 10:30am on a Friday and waited in line for about 15 minutes. The wait was longer to get our food though. I noticed some people that ordered after me got their orders first so I approached the counter to see the status of my two bagels. When we got our complete order, one bagel was fresh, and the other seemed to have been sitting out for a while because it was cold then I noticed I didn't have egg in my Build Your Own EGG Sandwich, so I had to return it and wait for another bagel. I wanted to get the Cheech but with vegan cheese but was told I had to do the Build Your Own, so that's what I did. The other order was bacon egg and cheese on Everything bagel The verdict of the bagels alone were good- Everything and Rye. I've heard about their Queens location but never been so it was nice to hear about this new location in Manhattan! I went during their grand opening event and the line was pretty much wrapped around the building. While it took about 30 minutes to get into the restaurant, their ordering system was efficient and I managed to get my order within 5 minutes! I ordered a cheddar jalapeño bagel with scallion cream cheese. The bagel was $5.99 (extra $1 added since this is a specialty bagel). Overall, I thought the bagel was good. It had the right about of bagel to cream cheese ratio (personally not a fan when the bagel is stuffed with cream cheese) and had a nice fluffiness to it. I am a fan of cheddar jalapeño bagels and I thought their take was interesting. There were jalapeño bits embedded in the dough and the cheddar looked like they placed a slice on top and melted it on. Personally, I didn't mind the flavor of the bagel but something about the melted cheese being on top while the bagel itself being room temperature did throw me off. Also, I thought the bagel was on the pricier side for what you get. I was a little shocked when I opened my bagel because it was approximately the width of my hand. Overall, great bagel but portion sizes run on the smaller end. Note: Will get them props on their "hot" bagels! We got a free plain bagel for waiting and I can't say I've ever had a bagel fresh out of the oven. It was practically piping hot and when you tore a piece off, you could see the steam come out. The fluffiness paired with the fresh out of the oven temperature was REALLY GOOD. Pretty much inhaled the thing and I appreciated how it was delicious on its own without cream cheese. I had a pretty great experience here. First off, they have the little martinelli's apple juice containers that I used to demolish at my old job at the bagel shop. When I asked them for a sesame bagel, the cashier asked me if I wanted a fresher bagel! It was so unnecessary but so welcome. I ended up eating outside on a bench down the street so can't talk really talk about the ambiance in the actual shop but it's definitely big enough to fit a big line. The bagel? Pretty good. 8/10. Ordered a bagel via uber eats. I ordered a walnut raisin cream cheese bagel. I was sent a peanut butter bagel. Which don't look the same and are probably not housed in the same area. This was clearly a massive error. And a dangerous one. I have a mild peanut allergy and don't react with cross contamination but I do react to globs and globs of peanut butter. And that's what happened today. So with a bad bagel came hives! I called up immediately to let them know of the issue and the person who answered the phone (after putting me on hold for several minutes) said "oh sorry about that but we are pretty busy." I said I understood but this is a health hazard. He then had the audacity to say "well if you understand I'm going to hang up now because I don't make the bagels". That is crazy behavior when someone is reporting a serious health issue. Seriously awful customer service for a health hazard! read more

I will give this location a few more months to iron out as they are still new but my boyfriend and I were not very impressed after our first visit. I ordered a lox sandwich with scallion cream cheese and he ordered a jalapeño cheese bagel with scallion cream cheese. My bagel came with normal cream cheese instead of scallion cream cheese (u have to pay extra for scallion cream cheese too) and my sandwich was just built pretty sloppily. Upon opening up my sandwich it was just wet...(im guessing from the tomato) but like the entirety of the outside of my sandwich was just wet like someone spilled water on it :( also, the capers and onions were all on one half of the sandwich... My boyfriend's bagel was better but we could tell that the bagel was a little burnt. It had that burnt taste and was a lot harder to chew through. Was so excited to try this place after seeing people talk about it all the time, and all the possibilities they have. The line on a Saturday morning around noon wasn't too bad; had to wait roughly 10-15 minutes to order and then another 15-20 to get the bagel. I ordered a whole wheat everything bagel with scallion cream cheese and an over medium egg. The bagel itself was good! Chewy, flavorful, and fluffy BUT it was smaller than I anticipated, especially when seeing them come out of the oven while you're in line. They looked so big! Now for the rest of the sandwhich.... the eggs were good but there was nearly 0 cream cheese (like literally you couldn't scrape any off) so I couldn't tell you what that tasted like. The sandwhich itself just tasted like a bagel and egg which was disappointing to say the least. My boyfriend got the cheech on a jalapeno cheddar bagel which he did like but did comment on how small the bagels were. I do hope to go back and maybe try something else. Can't tell if it was just because they were busy or what, but I would like to give it another shot, but wouldn't be my "go to" as of now. read more

It was a large, hearty breakfast that went nicely with some hot sauce, though a bit salty. If you're looking for meat substitutes, the sausage felt realistic enough to where I almost had to double check that it hadn't gotten switched for the real thing (it really was vegan). There was no line at the register at about 8 am on a Saturday, but there were so many online orders that it ended up being about a 15 minute wait. Yes, it was a bit of a wait but that's because half of NYC wants a good bagel in the morning and it's worth the wait. They have a lot of parts in play to deliver the perfect bagel sandwich, and we were not disappointed. I ordered the bagel and lox, no salmon and sub tomato, and my partner got the breakfast bagel with scallion schmear, both of those on everything bagels. The cashiers were so lovely, the ambiance is nice, and there is plenty of seating if people understood that the space is for sitting, eating and leaving, not sipping on your coffee to ponder life. I had a nova and onion omelette, my husband had poppy seed and cream cheese bagel, my son and his soon to be wife had bagels with lox cream cheese. Bottled water and orange juice. I didn't eat the hash browns but they are made with green peppers. Everyone cleaned their plates! This restaurant is well respected in New York and it deserves the rating! You can literally see them prepare and bake their bagels through the glass. They have many options to choose from and many unique spreads to choose. I'm a plain Jane. I go for butter or cream cheese. Would you try Blue Granola Butter ? @MattPeterson partnered with Oat Haus Granola Butter to make the new flavor called "Blue Monster" and where better to debut than New York's Official Best Bagel Shop @utopiabagels! I was able to attend their pop up and get a first look at the product and meet the man behind the madness. Number 1... Matt Peterson and his team were super friendly it was a pleasure meeting all of them as well as super fun. We then got to try their signature bagel called the MP which was a French Toast Bagel w/ Cream Cheese & of course the Blue Monster I know you guys are dying to know about the taste so Blue Monster is a chocolate chip inspired granola butter and the color doesn't really make any difference to the taste but it was fun to try. Not to mention it's Nut Free, Soy Free,Dairy Free, Non GMO, Vegan & Kosher so literally anyone can have it. I'm personally not a fan of butters of any kind (I absolutely HATE Peanut Butter) but this wasn't bad and I would deff recommend to anyone who is looking for a nut based butter alternative Thank you @utopiabagels for having me your homey atmosphere always brings me joy and congratulations @mattpeterson for coming out with such an amazing and unique product...
