The brakes on my nearly 15-year-old Chevrolet Impala went out over a Memorial Day weekend trip to Yucca Valley. Though I live next to V&S, I'd never used their services, but thought that this was as good a time as any to start! Vic answered the phone on a holiday weekend and worked with me to arrange an overnight drop-off of the car. I heard from him early the next business day with his assessment/recommendations. He was extremely transparent and honest about the state of the car. He kept me informed as to all of the options he was pursuing, including contacting the manufacturer and multiple local junkyards for the needed parts. Vic was also very communicative about my options as the owner, including pricing out the costs of the potential repair and suggesting various ways to dispose of (e.g., resell, donate) the car should repair not be indicated. I see the reviews are all great here, but my experience is otherwise. Had my headlight bulb replaced here for around 60 bucks which only lasted two months. Then I went to this shop only to find out that they charged me 30 each and I ended paying only 60 bucks for two!! And told me that the reason why it lasted so short is because they used a cheap made in china product. If they charged me nearly 60 bucks for a cheap material that would only last no more than two months the rest is needless to say. No reason to ever stop by here when there are other shops that use better products with honest prices. read more

My wife was in Santa Monica and her car overheated. She first took it to Delek 76 Auto Care and they wouldn't even look at it without her first paying $139. They told her "maybe the [people] across the street would (V & S Service)." When she took it to V&S they were very nice and helped her right away. They filled the radiator and checked the pressure to see if it was leaking. They then called me and told me what the issue likely was (bad head gasket) since there was oil residue in the radiator. He told me that it would be safe for her to drive back to Orange county with the full radiator but the car would need repair ASAP. And they wouldn't take any fee for simply helping a stranded motorist! Thanks V & S for helping a motorist in need. If we lived near them we would definitely use their services. Vic and his whole crew, especially number 1 mechanic Jesus are the bomb!!!! Everyone around here takes their cars to them for everything. We first started going there before he had his own place and for all these years the quality of service, honesty and friendly helpful attitude is unbeatable. Vic wants his customers to be safe on the road, and will pretty much do whatever he needs to in order to be sure that happens. I've personally had V&S take care of at least 6 different cars between myself and my kids and my friends in the dozens have gone to him as well. He is a good businessman. He understands the best (and cheapest) advertising you can get is a long list of satisfied and loyal customers who will always recommend him when asked or given an opportunity to do so. The lady with the flat tire in an earlier review must be leaving something really important out of her story. For instance they close before 5, so if someone was there he must have stayed late to finish a car for a customer. #2 There is a gas station across the street with a service bay which is open until after 6 weekdays. #3 Has she never heard of the Auto Club, or just too cheap to join. Sounds to me like whomever she met that day was the one who was discriminated against, not the other way round. Some people seem to think the world revolves totally around them. Further somehow people who labor in blue collar jobs are not quite as good as others, and of course should always accede to the wishes of others. BALONEY!! Maybe she put on a attitude which made the person feel less than inclined to stay and help her, especially since he knew she could go across the street and ruin that person's day. I've been coming to Vic for years but only recently realized how awesome he and his crew really are. My wife's car broke down and I had it towed to Vic's. It needed an alternator but I knew that there was a small leak in the cooling system as well. I had new tires put on the car a few months before, and at the time the shop I had brought it to said they could fix the leak for $1000. Since the car was at V and S, I asked Vic to take a look at it. He called me a little while later and he said he could fix the leak for 1/3 of what the other shop quoted me. He changed the alternator, recharged the battery, fixed the leak and did a lube and oil change all for much less than what I had been quoted earlier for the leak alone. The whole time Vic was in contact with me and didn't do any work until he got the okay from me. He also did us a favor and took care of another small issue at the last minute and had everything done within a day! Overall, Vic is a stand up guy and won't screw you over. I know I will be going to V and S for years to come. They are honest, friendly, and Vic and his guys know their stuff. read more

Just took my car in for an oil change. Went to run errands and the year 2014 Jeep is saying low oil pressure, check engine light is on. Vick is not there and the guys in the garage are saying they may not be able to fix it without him. I'm supposed to leave for AZ tomorrow. I've been going to Vic for about 12 years now; starting with a 4-year old VW followed by a new Nissan which is now 8 years old. The service is personal, professional, and honest. I've never had the slightest thought of him steering me wrong or taking advantage of my lack of knowledge about cars. I bring it in regularly for oil changes without fear that he'll "find" issues that "need" to be fixed. I've brought my car in thinking it may need major repairs and he told me it was nothing--and he turned out to be right. I've brought him a quote from the dealership and he told me which items were really necessary and which weren't--and charged me hundreds less. When he does a tune-up, he lists all the recommendations but then lets me know which are more urgent and which can wait so I can decide. I would highly recommend him.
