The New York steak was a piece of &&&&. When the waiter pulled the plates, he did not ask why I was tossing 3/4 of a steak.

This is a nice, friendly place with several rooms so you have a choice of ambiance - and they have outdoor patio dining as well. We sat in the bar area and the service was great! We had the Crispy Calamari & Shrimp for an appetizer which was wonderful! I had the Portabella Dip which tasted very good, but really messy due to the slippery onions, cheese & sauce. My son had the Prime NY Steak and it had exceptionally good flavor. I would definitely go back to eat here! read more

Lovely setting. Our second time here. First time was for a libation (see profile lol) and we quite enjoyed the clever and lively banter between the Mixologist and the (Manager?) yummy drinks! We dined in the Bistro section and quite enjoyed it. Our Martinis were ok and sadly served in a DAQUIRI glass instead of a proper Martini glass. Kind of a suprise there. I know, I know, there are more important things in life. My Co-Pilot had the pork sandwich. Quite tasty. I had the Pheasant Salad. OY GOOD!. Lovely presentation, lots of yummy cranberries and candied walnuts. And enough Brie and Apples to make a dessert all on that alone. Salty French fries and salty salmon. Service was deplorable. Asked for a drink menu before our food was served. Food was served. Still no drink menu. When the meal was finished the waitress said "oh I'm so sorry I forgot. I'll get it for you now." That's ok. I am done now. I saw people wait for over an hour for their food. It seems like the staff were functioning on organized chaos. Food was average. Edible but nothing to write home about. We dropped by Murphys and decided to have a late lunch. We were seated outdoors on the patio. Service was fast and attentive. The carrot ginger bowl of soup was super big and enough for a meal. We shared and still have leftovers. My partner got the turkey club sandwich and I got the duck salad. Highly recommend the duck salad. Everything was great, but only complaint would be that halfway through our meal, we were attacked by so many flies. There were some fly traps around and the fan didn't reach us. The waitress did offer a mini table fan to us towards the end of our meal, but we were almost done so didn't take her up on the offer. read more

The mashed potatoes were like soup due to the butter and the New York steak was tough with lots of fat. It was a terrible slice of meat. Overall the mock tail was the best. Referred to this place by a friend and will never go back. I like my ass ate before I get fucked. Breakfast food is ok if you get eggs scrambled. If you order eggs any other way, expect runny whites. Breakfast is served until noon - if you want breakfast, arrive before 10am as it takes almost two hours to be seated and even seen for waters. Another 20 minutes for drinks. Service is probably better in prison. Will not go back. Only reason this place is getting more than one star is the breakfast taco was actually decent, compliments to the chef. If you're considering this place make sure you have plenty of time to waste and don't want a second round of mimosas. Had a white board sign asking for reviews so here you go - but couldn't have any signs pointing to the correct door to enter. Don't forget to read the guidelines on the first page of the menu. My boyfriend and I were in the area for a hike, and decided to grab some dinner in the cutest town ever seen. Yelp offered lots of results for dinner on a Saturday night in Murphy's, and the ratings for this restaurant led us to it. We were not dressed nicely having been hiking all day, but felt like we could blend in just fine on the patio. We were immediately sat even though the place was quite busy. A few minutes later, our sever came by and told us the specials and got our drinks and orders in. While we were waiting for our cocktails, another employee came over to make sure we had been attended to. We ordered the Bold Fashioned and a Bloody Maria to start, both very tasty. We had the shrimp and calamari as an appetizer and it was absolutely delicious. The calamari was not chewy and it came with tasty shishito peppers too. My boyfriend had the Bourbon Pecan Chicken and I had the Salmon Bernaise. My boyfriend literally smiled and said "mmmmm" with every bite of his dish We finished the night with their house margarita, and we both agreed it was the best we ever had, perfectly balanced sweet and salty. We also shared a cup of locally roasted coffee and cheesecake and were very happy. I must say we were very impressed with how many of the employees touched upon our table. The team worked very well together to make sure everyone was taken care of. This is very hard to find these days and did not go unnoticed. This place is amazing. The French toast was stuffed with Nutella and banana. Our toddler inhaled it . We had the huevos rancheros and it was the best I've ever had. The beans were flavorful and deliciously spiced (maybe could have used a bit more heat, but that's a personal thing). It came with avocado and a crisp cornbread waffle that was out of this world. We recently had lunch at the V Bistro and Bar. My wife ordered the Portabello mushroom sandwich. She especially loved the horseradish cream sauce and the caramelized onions . She had it with a salad that came with a maple vinaigrette which equally impressed her. A week has past since we visited Murphys and she is still raving about it. I ordered the Ruben Sandwich. The dijon mustard combined with the house sauce, very generous servings of corn beef and swiss cheese all served on a delicious toasted marble rye bread made this by far the best ruben sandwich I have ever had. No mean feat as I was born during the Truman administration. The restaurant staff was really welcoming and helpful and added greatly to our visit. We live in Walnut Creek - 140 miles from Murphys. Because of our experience at the V Bistro and Bar, we are planning to revisit Murphys in a few months and bring some friends along with us. read more

Service was amazing, food was spot on. I have zero complaints. Unfortunately in this area some restaurants charge same prices without the quality that V's presents. We had the calamari.....excellent and gluten free with cornmeal and almond flour. Tender to the bite and fresh. Wedge salad was perfect with a combination of flavors I couldn't describe. A very unique dish. The venison was cooked medium rare as it should with a reduction sauce, the perfect amount. Our server was friendly and accommodating. We took our appetizers -very s-l-o-w delivery by the way, and got a to go box for them because we just couldn't take the cold anymore! Over priced appetizers, even though the fries were perfect and the brussel sprouts with blue cheese, caramelized onions and bacon were delicious. V! I LOVE V The service was great! The Selection of wine, local wine, and secretive (off menu) wine was great!! I'm still not sure what I had to drink, but it paired phenomenally with the duck salad. The drinks came out so fast I could hardly put my purse down. Hands up, high five, incredible service. The only reason why I gave them four out of five stars was because of the flies, out on the patio. Lovely setting fountains, lights, fans, music, misters, but a lot of flies. Murphys is a cute little gold country town that is worth the stop. Dotted along Main Street, you'll find intimate wine tasting rooms and a wide-range of restaurants. The hardest part will be deciding which one to eat at! We found the dining options in Murphys to be a significant notch higher than many other towns in the region. Whether looking for fine dining, or more casual fare, Murphys has you covered. We decided to eat at V Restaurant and Bar, which offered 2 different menus (one for the romantic, formal dining room and another for the bar). We opted for the bar since the menu appealed to us both. Let's just say the decision was easy for us after seeing the bar menu had truffle mac n' cheese! And if you're into fancy cocktails, you've also found your spot! Other restaurants that looked equally as impressive were Grounds (a little busier and more formal), Alchemy Cafe (a casual spot) or JoMa's Artisan Ice Cream (if you're looking just for some dessert). We were impressed with all the food and drink options in Murphys as tiny of a place that it is! read more

With the Town of Murphy's being our 1st outing since Covid & with us having both of our vaccines ! We are very thankful we choose this as our 1st dining out experience of 2021 ! The V Bistro was very proactive even down to the catsup for fries & the packing of our leftovers , we appreciated all of the above mentioned & also the hand sanitizer & 6ft distancing.... Now for the real deal the food ! My husband & I both ordered the French Dip Sandwich and they were amazingly delicious , soft tasty beef not the stringy kind I've had before. They are served with chips or you can upgrade to French Fries which our waiter when asked said the fries are recommended as his chef made the best . Needless to say the French Fries were crispy on the outside & not the typical mushy insides but were cooked to perfection ! We were also staying the night at the Victoria so our short walk to our room is where we enjoyed our leftovers ! Later that night we met one of the two female owners of the V Bistro as we were walking back to our room located behind the Bistro. We enjoyed the conversation we had with her. She was very interesting, funny too & so informative regarding the town of Murphy's as we have fallen in love with this cute quaint historically packed lil Nugget! Make sure you reserve a table ahead of your visit. We tried their Fish n Chips, Mac n Cheese, Veg Burger and Salmon Bearnaise. Each dish was outstanding.
