A solid offering for Valerie's Taco Shop. I came in for a small, quick bite before my drive back to LA. I ordered two crunchy tacos, (1 chicken, 1 beef). Both tacos were tasty and the shells didn't break on first bite. I also liked how the tacos were not overloaded with lettuce or cheese. The beef seemed to have a little bit more flavor than the chicken, but both were good. The salsa bar has 6 or so varieties and the self-served soda fountain is convenient. The service is kind and the dining room is clean and comfortable. I will definitely eat here again. Valerie's Taco Shop is A'OK!

My husband and I were on the hunt for some tacos while in Oceanside, and boy, are we glad we stumbled upon Valerie's Taco Shop. This place looks humble from the outside, but inside, it's a pretty inviting, open space, adorned with cute little signs and a big screen showcasing a slideshow of pictures of the various items you can order. It's perfect for a quick and casual meal. I've eaten a lot of Mexican food, but I can confidently say that this place is above average. Everything was flavorful, from the rice and beans to the enchilada and hard shell taco. They even let us swap our cheese enchilada for a chicken one, and let me tell you, that was a decision I do not regret. I'm already looking forward to our next visit!! Don't miss out on this hidden gem!

Yummy tacos!! I've been there a couple of times. And each time was really good. I normally get chicken and shrimp tacos. The tacos are very fresh! The service is good, I believe it's family owned. The employees are pretty friendly and helpful. The only hiccup is, there's not a lot of seating for dinning in. Pretty small setting but there are tables and chairs outside which is decent.

Food was good but the young lady that works here very rude it was my first time there and I asked her some questions about the menu she answered me all rude like if I was dumb and couldn't read the menu. She seemed annoyed that she was at work and didn't want to be there . I'm sure she's this rude to others and this happened yesterday around 2pm hopefully the owner will see this and have a talk with her read more

For my money, this is the best taco in SD county. Nothing and no one beats these hand made tortillas! The flavors are on point, perfect, and the portions and pricing is just right. Some of the best tacos I have ever had, seriously. I try tacos at almost every Mexican spot and these by far are my favorite. They are walk in and not a drive thru, so after a long day at work, a drive thru is way more appealing but I will get my lazy butt out of the car to order from here I would definitely recommend this place. A friend told me about this place so I went there to try it out. I ordered a carne asada torta a chill relleno and cheese enchilada. I was not disappointed! I opened the container for the torta, it was as big as the container! The relleno and enchilada hung over the sides of the container. Every thing had a great taste. Found this gem on Yelp. Took my dad here on a trip and the server was extremely sweet and nice. The food is awesome. I always test my Mexican restaurants by having the Chile rellenos. I would have given the place a 5 star however one of my rellenos had too many seeds. The nice server came over and assured me this is very rare. I will definitely be back. Wow I'm so impressed with the service, quantity and quality here! Got a carne asada salad and added grilled chicken into it as well. It is a really large serving size when you do this but can totally make two meals out of it! Love their dressing but be sure to ask for it on the side if you're not a fan of mayo. Have been her for lunch/dinner so many times and loved everything we tried. Decided to have them make trays for an event we had with some friends and everyone still talks about how good the food was! If I could do 10 stars I would!! Their customer service is over the top. I called with an issue I had with a delivery at no fault of the restaurant. A woman answered the phone and I let her know why I was calling and she immediately got the owner of the restaurant on the phone and I told him my situations that Grub hub did not deliver my order the night before and again no fault of Grub hub either, my own fault. The owner began to tell me how all that works with Grub hub and how to go about getting my money back and then he just says oh forget it, just come and pick up an entire new order tonight, you don't have to go through Grub hub. Just got done eating over at this place with my co workers and man... this place is good. I got the basic (what I thought) 3 carne asada tacos but I was wrong. I only visited this location because a lot of other places were closed for New Years . The location was lonely when I walked in but very clean . Employees were not very welcoming . I ordered a rice bowl with chicken , It included beans , chicken , sour cream , cheese , salsa , and guacamole. I probably ate less then half my bowl , the food was way to greasy & the beans tasted a little funky . Not a location I would visit again nor recommend. read more

It's incredibly humid in the restaurant with stagnant, hot air. I don't know how the kitchen staff handles it. I won't be back or giving them my business until the air conditioner is turned back on. I don't believe it's truly broken, I just think they're sadly too cheap to run it since yes, it is a hefty expense. Sad for the customers, sad for the employees. It's miserable trying to eat here inside, never mind outside, during this entire hot summer/ongoing heat wave. Everything else I mentioned in my previous review still stands, but the lack of AC for months brings this spot way, way down now in my book.

We ordered from Valerie's Taco Shop while staying in town on vacation, and everything we tried was absolutely delicious. It's rare for takeout to hit all the marks, but this one came pretty close. The California burrito was huge and incredibly flavorful - the carne asada was tender and juicy, the fries inside added just the right crunch, and the sour cream and guac tied it all together with a creamy finish. Perfectly wrapped and super satisfying. The shredded beef tacos were another favorite. The shells were perfectly crunchy, and the beef inside was packed with flavor. No sogginess, no skimping - just really well-done tacos. We also ordered churros, which arrived hot and crispy with a fluffy center and just the right amount of cinnamon sugar. Paired with Mexican Cokes, it made for an ideal comfort food night in. There was a small hiccup with a missing side of rice for one of the a la carte tacos, but it was resolved quickly and didn't take away from the overall experience. Everything arrived hot, fresh, and packed with care. We're already planning to order again before we leave town. I placed an order and did a pick up order for this location Valerie's taco shop in Oceanside. I did not get my full order and called back to speak to this Mexican lady with blonde hair little on the bigger side. All I did was explained to her that I am missing an item for my order and would like a refund and she claims that it's "not her job" and does not know how to look up a previous order. 1) this is definitely not a way to speak to a customer or handle the situation. 2) YOUR JOB is correctly handle all orders The lack of service and brain cells is insane. Please double check your orders f you're ordering from here because we basically just paid them for no reason at all. Whoever owns this franchise needs to better train their people. Especially the bigger Hispanic lady with blonde hair tied up in a bun who was also sitting on her phone that was schedule to work evening shift on 5/31/2025 at 8:00pm it's just sad but you expect gratuity is crazy. read more

Valerie's taco shop is right outside my school so its an easy walk and temping. I got the carne asada fries and they were delicious, I go after school to eat there. My friends and I always go there when we have time after school. My favorite part about Valerie's is the multiple choices of salsa, they are just perfect not to spicy and not too bland. read more
