The carne asada burrito was delicious. The beef in it was good and it also had some guacamole. Was even better with the salsa spices they provide with it. The grilled mahi mahi taco was alright. I thought the fish was over done. But the cole slaw they had with it was a good complementary to the taco in general. read more

Their soda was completely flat coming out of the machine and their California burrito only had meat, cheese and fries in it, that's not even a real California burrito! Iv'e lived in Oceanside all my life, had plenty of Mexican food all over the city. So i'm pretty confident when i say this one is one of the better one's in town. Iv'e been to this location roughly about 5-6 time's and i usually mostly stick to their California Burrito (iv'e had their Carne Asada fries also). I add sour cream, avocado, and pico de gallo and ask for carrot's which are free. ( all other place charge for carrot's. Here, they are free just ask.) safe to say that iv'e become a regular so much so that i know staff by name. Daisy (cashier) , Diana (cashier) and Emilio (cook) alway's give me exceptional service and receive me with a smile every time which i can appreciate. Don't have enough fingers to count how many time's i walk in a place and certain staff rather be elsewhere which for me, i rather go elsewhere no matter how good the food is. It's just very uncomfortable. Anyway, the burrito is actually delicious! Won't say that it's the best iv'e ever had but i can honestly say i enjoy it every single time enough to keep coming back! Specially since they have a whole variety of Salsa's which range from mild to extremely spicy so beware! One of those is scorching hot! Not going to knock them for having good salsa but maybe label the spice level so other customers are prepared and aware for what their taste bud's are about to endure (Maybe they are labeled, i'm not 100 percent sure so don't quote me) . Place is clean, it's spacious and actually now that i recall the water's they have ( had the watermelon) was actually very tasty. I don't know if any other place that makes their tortillas by hand, even if they bought it can't tell cause the tortillas are thicker here and they don't fall apart from being too old or sitting there. Everything made fresh to order A favorite is the Diablo taco- fried shrimp taco with all your fixings and drizzled in spicy sauce. They give you good portions- Mahi taco and the fish taco. This place is a total hidden gem. It was recommended to me by a close friend and this is the authentic real for sure deal. My fave is the sub Diego burrito which has eggs, French fries, carne asada and cheddar cheese in it. I add beans because I love beans in my burrito. It is absolutely to die for. They now have an ice cream shop attached to the main restaurant and the churro sundae was legit crazy good. Think piping hot churros with your choose of three ice cream scoops. So I keep coming back to this place because it is really the only Mexican taco shop in the area around my work. And I'm glad I did. So I spoke to the owner one day I mentioned a few things to him about the hospitality and the restaurant not being open and stuff like that, he was pretty receptive and we had a good conversation. I also noticed that one of the ladies who was rude to me and not hospitable has not been there anymore. I say that because now I see a different lady in the morning and she greets me with a smile, is cordial, courteous, attentive and seems like she enjoys her job. That's good to know because I think the customer component is very important. You can have good food but if the service sucks people won't be coming back.
