Third time back! I would say it gets better each time but it's always been great. On our second visit, we were here for a birthday and they really went all out - happy birthday music! Service was friendly and attentive. We walked in and it was easy to get a table. Entrance for dinner is closer to Trader Joe's and parking garage. Outdoor seating is available. It's a tranquil ambiance and can hear the conversation. Homemade flatbread with baba ghanoush. Falafel was perfect. Great drinks . This was my first time in Old Town Alexandria and my friends were all picking where to go. I suggested we try this place and we're glad we did! We came on a weekend late morning, so we got the regular menu and brunch menu. It was pretty empty so we got seated and our food quickly. I ordered the shakshuka and my partner got the mixed pide (a flatbread with sausage). One of our friends got a breakfast platter which was really interesting. It came with a bunch of syrups and sides which were fun. The staff were mostly very friendly! I do wish I was served the shakshuka *with* the pita instead of after, but it wasn't a huge deal. I visited the restaurant as a larger group (12 to 15 people for brunch). I know big groups are challenging but the restaurant was mainly empty so I was expecting better service. The waitress forgot our pastries so we cancelled them. The complimentary focaccia was a nice touch. Oddly enough, we had to order coffee separately from the barista and pay her directly. This was pretty inconvenient and resulted in an inaccurate check. I had to call back the restaurant multiple times to get this corrected. The food was fairly average. Don't order desert unless you want to pay $12 for a single cannoli filled with whipped cream from a can. Really do not recommend. read more

I ordered the salmon and it was raw but at least I was the only one who got it, the food came quick, that is why. My family all said the food was average. The service? TERRIBLE. My husband, our two kids, and I recently visited Valletta Port and had such a great time. I loved that they have a kids' menu -- it really makes eating out with little ones so much easier. The food was super tasty, and the desserts were amazing! We had the baklava, and honestly, it was delicious -- sweet and just the right amount of flaky. Horrible. And that's being generous. There aren't enough negative words to describe this place and soon I'll explain why. To start, as soon as I drove by the restaurant I saw a few people smoking hookah provided by the restaurant,it brang a bad pungency and aroma to the surrounding area. There was an ample amount of parking near the Trader Joe's however the restaurant didn't provide any dedicated parking. First of all the service. Luckily for us, there wasn't a load of people there just a couple of tables. Our waiter gave us a strange attitude that was unbecoming. When we asked her about the gratuity fee at the restaurant, she turned rude and made us feel uncomfortable. Nonetheless we went on to order their rather expensive (subpar) meals. When she took our order it took about 3 repetitions for her to get it correct which seemed odd since there was barely anyone at the place to make it seem loud. Now for the food. Absolutely horrible. My salmon came undercooked. Almost raw! I even told them to make it well done. Then the cheese flatbread,the price didn't match the size of it, it wasn't even enough for my little son. Their Diet Coke and water had a rusty aftertaste posing a health risk. The bread that came with dips was gas station grade, almost stale. Don't get me started on the baklava, what was supposed to be "the best in America" tasted like heated up Krispy Kreme donuts. The coffee tasted worse than the coffee you find at motels.Disgusting. I wouldn't recommend coming here if you want to have a nice time. There's nothing about this place that screams "4.5 stars" or "best in America". The best thing I got from this restaurant is a lesson to never get Turkish food again. French food is the best! read more

I am giving two stars because the food wasn't bad, but it also wasn't wow. The food came out quickly. We got the burrata appetizer which was good but over priced. I could make that at home with burrata from Aldi. I had the gnocchi with mushrooms and my husband had the grilled octopus. The meals were decent. Then we waited and waited for our waitress, and we were really ignored. We ordered dessert from the busboy, but he didn't tell our waitress who wasn't visiting our table anyway. We ordered cappuccino and espresso, and they took a while, too. The cannolis were the worst we had ever had. They tasted like they were just filled with whipped cream and nothing else but maybe sprinkled with a little pistachio powder. The tiramisu was bland as well. I've had better tiramisu at the Quattro Formagi pizza place. I picked this place because I've been to Valletta in Malta. Tonight was disappointing. read more

This is definitely going to be one of my go-to restaurants in Old Town Alexandria. It's in the northern side of Old Town, where free parking can still be found. The staff is friendly and attentive. But most of all, the food was delicious and presented beautifully - a feast for the palate and the eyes. As others have mentioned, the Mediterranean Dip Spread is certainly a good choice for getting a taste of the variety of appetizers that Valletta Port has to offer. And although I'm not one to readily order lentil soup, I'm really glad I did get the Ezogelin Soup, thanks to the recommendations of other Yelpers. It really did soothe the soul, which needed some soothing. I can see Valletta Port being a favored destination for me to literally break bread with good friends on a regular basis. read more

What an amazing surprise. Wrapping up a meeting in Old Town Alexandria, I was craving Pho. So was headed to the Pho restaurant on St. Asaph right next to Trader Joe's; been meaning to try that place for a while. All I saw was Valletta Port, so went inside and learned the old Saigon Sunday place moved, and last Fall, Valletta Port moved in. So, I sat down and ordered their Ezogelin Soup! GAME CHANGER!! Ordered another one, right away, and cleaned the bowl on that one too. Such incredible ingredients, quality taste and the servers were all A+. Now I'll be returning for everything else on the menu!! Let me start by saying that the original menu here was exceptional! The Mediterranean food was,as they say, to die for! We were super excited to come back here and get their delicious dip spread and shawarma because honestly they're the best around. When we went today, they told us that they had done a 180 and completely switched their menu to an entirely different food group...Italian. First and foremost , what?!?!? That's not a seasonal change that's a whole different cuisine. Glass half full, I happen to love Italian food. Let me say that the staff was spectacular and very kind. The food, however, was very mid....mid. Honestly, it felt like cafeteria Italian food. It really wasn't good at all and it's such a shame, knowing that there were chefs in the back that could've whipped up one mean Shawarma if we asked them to. Apparently this change was enacted because the community was hounding them about changing to Italian, as if there isn't Italian already in old town? Well, I hope those people who are complaining are happy because this is an absolute travesty of what was once a great Mediterranean restaurant. Let me know when we go back to Shawarmas and hummus and I will return. Until that time I'm not paying these outrageous prices ($30 pies, etc.) for average at best Italian food. I am writing another review of this restaurant because it continues to consistently meet or exceed every expectation and now serves BRUNCH! In fact, my wife and I stopped by for brunch both yesterday and today! On Saturday, we shared the delicious Turkish Breakfast Platter and drinks. I had the cucumber mint lemonade spritz, and my wife had champagne with pomegranate juice added. We enjoyed our brunch so much yesterday, we returned today. This time we shared an order of Menemen (eggs prepared in Turkish style with tomatoes, green peppers, and herbs) and the Gozleme with spinach and cheese. We tried this restaurant for lunch and it was fantastic. The food was so delicious and very nice service. We had the dips platter (with a sample of all of their dips and bread), which was presented beautifully and was delicious (my favorites being the eggplant and the pesto dips, but I even liked the beet dip and I don't typically like beets). The spinach and cheese pide (like a mediterranean pizza) was delicious and we tried a very unique dessert that was also really good. The only dish that didn't stand out for us was the cauliflower appetizer - the hummus part of the dish was outstanding but the cauliflower itself was a little underwhelming. My wife and I brought a friend to the restaurant last night and had an outstanding meal. For starters we had roasted Brussel sprouts with bacon jam and cashews. Our friend had never had them roasted. He enjoyed them as much as we did. Our second appetizer, though quite different, was excellent. This was the Caprese spread, which brought together tomato and mozzarella plus a cream blending pesto and pistachio. Cute outdoor area! We were so excited to try a new Mediterranean restaurant. We sat down waiting to order when 10 minutes passed, then 20 and we saw other people who just sat down getting served. Waitresses walked right past us to clean a nearby table yet nobody noticed we hadn't even gotten water. When we got up to ask some servers for water it still didn't come. 30 minutes later we had to go inside to speak with the owner. Finally she sent someone over! While they made a valiant attempt at service recovery it was hard to let go of the fact that was 30 min of our lives we couldn't get back. Now to the food.. hummus was bland but my husband disagrees. Falafel good, bread was ok. Chicken shish was very good. As was the lava cake for dessert. This restaurant hasn't been open long, and I'm skeptical that it will last beyond a year. We ordered the ground lamb kebab dish, and it was average in taste, quality, and portion size. The service was okay, but there was no warm greeting when we arrived. You would think a new restaurant would be excited to welcome new customers. We placed our order, and the food was served without anything special that would make us want to return. The space, located across from Trader Joe's, is quite large, and several restaurants have come and gone from this location.
