Restaurant located in downtown Canton. Plenty of parking spots. Nice decor presents a pleasant atmosphere that adds to the ambiance and dining experience. Friendly greeting by the hostess who immediately seated us in a nice booth. Service was excellent even on a busy Friday evening. Food was terrific. To start, I walked in and was a fan of the ambiance and the food was amazing, perhaps the best Italian food I've ever had, it was perfectly seasoned and everything tasted fresh. I had to know more about the kitchen and it's process so I had actually found the owner who was working that day and I had asked him if I could see the kitchen and he, to my surprise, said yes and when I walked in I saw a perfectly clean kitchen, a few hard working cooks, and I had also saw how they really made everything fresh, all of the sauces were hand-made fresh. If your looking for a quiet place this is not the place. The noise level here is a very high decibel. I haven't had lasagna in over a year so I had to try it. It wasn't the best I ever had but it was good and hit the spot. The bread too was great. Service was spot on. read more

I found this restaurant on Google, so I decided to give it a try. It was great! I hadn't been to Canton in YEARS and it's really changed for the better. I'm glad I found this place. My parents and I really enjoyed it. I loved my Baked Ziti. My stepdad had a multi meat pizza that looked SO good and my mom had some shrimp pasta (HUGE portion). The food was amazing and the service was great. The place was really hopping on a Friday night and it looks to be popular with the high school crowd, but the line slowed down around 7:30. I hope to come here again and I really want to try their pizza and maybe some other menu item. The deserts looked really good and I appreciated the quick drink refills. First time here. Passing through on our way home in Lindale. We were pleasantly surprised, for such a small town restaurant. It seems to be run by some very nice young folks, very polite and perfectly attentive. The chicken Parmesan was cooked just right and tasted very good. Dinner rolls are good as well. read more

So I can't even lie this Italian is some of the best we've ever had. I've read some reviews about people not enjoying the smell but honestly we didn't have any issue with that. We actually go every time we go to Canton Texas and we are never disappointed. From the minute you walk in freshly made pasta hits you in the face and instantly makes your mouth water. You won't be dissatisfied with the bread, It's always freshly baked and to die for. I always get the same meal, fettuccine Alfredo while my bf ventures to something different every time. He's tried the spaghetti, Val's chicken special, and chicken Parmesan. Chicken parm was his favorite but he still raves over Val's chicken. The only reason why i rated 4 stars instead of five is because they don't take very good precautions when it comes to Covid. A lot of times employees aren't wearing masks, they don't separate tables 6 feet, and they still have regular menus as well as seasoning shakers on the table. But the food is amazing. Had dinner tonight with my family and one of the dishes smelled and tasted "off." Like the ground beef was spoiled. We spoke with the manager/owner who proceeded to argue with us about the high quality of his food and that they sell too much for it to be spoiled. I've been served bad food before. It happens. However, I have NEVER had a restaurant employee argue with me about it before. I understand him defending his food, but his behavior was condescending and rude. This was not my first time here, but it is my last. Not because of the food, but because of the manager's/owner's reaction and response. read more

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!! I was in Canton for first Monday trade days. I thought I would try this restaurant because it got good reviews. I certainly don't know how. I placed an order in the Slice app for pickup and received confirmation of my order. I arrived at the time indicated that it would be ready. When I walked in and spoke with the person at the cash register, I told him I was there to pick up my order. He looked for my order and couldn't find it. He then said, "Oh, did you order the Chicken Parmesan?" I confirmed that was what I ordered. He then told me that they had CANCELED MY ORDER BECAUSE THEY WERE TOO BUSY. He offered to put in the order for me, but the wait would be 35 to 40 minutes to receive it. He also said that they would just charge me for it at the cash register since my card hadn't been charged by the Slice app. Are you kidding me???? They were going to charge me full price after canceling my order and then making me wait an additional 35 to 40 minutes???!?!I don't know how a business can get away with disrespecting customers in this way. No food is worth this kind of treatment. read more

We went to this place today after church. We've been there countless times in the past but if ever again, it will be a long long long time before we return. I order the anti-pasta salad as usual. Today's was next to horrible. At least a quarter of the lettuce was the core of the head. The hard, bitter, yellow part. I picked it out and showed to our waitress. I also pointed out there was not even close to the usual sliced cheese/salami/and whatever else is used. I was told the manager would be told about this. Maybe he was. I don't know. I do know Val was there because he came out but not over to us. I've noticed over the past few visits the quality has slipped but I've had it! The best part of this visit was the "House" dressing. I am visiting Ben Wheeler and was taken to Val's for dinner last night. I was told it's a good place to eat. NOT SO!!!!! The waitress brought out both of our orders at the same time. Mine was fine but my friends was totally burnt...I mean charcoal! She set it down and said "Yours is burnt. We have a new cook" and she walked off as if she just served something edible. My friend is such a lady and didn't want to cause a ruckus so she ate only what she could dig out of the center of the charcoal. That is unacceptable! I will never eat at Val's again and intend to discourage anyone else from eating there! read more

Went for lunch with a girlfriend today. Service: Our waitress was really nice (maybe new) and wasn't sure about certain things we asked about when trying to switch pasta or sauce in some of the items on the menu. Other than that no real concerns or issues with service. Food: I got the pasta combo - it was pretty tasty! There was one item I am sure what it was but I didn't like the flavor. Atmosphere was not as great and service was slow as it seemed like our waitress was multi tasking between us and the little bar. Aside from being pulled different directions she was attentive. Either I was super thirsty or they have the nest iced tea but I had 3 refills and I appreciate being offered a to go cup If lighting was a little cozier and some music was playing I would probably not been so bothered with the clanking of wait staff sorting and rolling silverware a few tables over. read more

We weren't disappointed. I had a bacon-wrapped boneless pork loin, with shrimp scampi that was excellent. Hubby had the sampler that was excellent. Full of flavor and high-quality cheeses. Fruzin had the calzone, hand-made to order, without stuff she doesn't like (mushrooms, onions.. ya know... that stuff). All three dishes were excellent. Staff was nice, and the desserts... well, there were so many to choose from nobody shared. It was a very nice experience. read more

Val's is one of my Aunt's favorite restaurant, so we chose it for her 90th birthday celebration lunch. We were expecting 30 guests. 47 showed up. Restaurant staff were sweet and accommodating. The food was delicious, fast - especially considering our party size - and the service was fantastic. (Servers and kitchen staff worked so hard.) I loved their eggplant parm. Oh, this place! We found this on our GPS after coming to town for First Monday. They immediately brought these most glorious basket of bread and we ordered the dipping sauce to go with. Amazing! We then had the anti pasta salad with Italian dressing (shared among four) as an appetizer. Ordered an XL pizza with pepperoni and mushroom and it was huge and dripping with cheese. I usher the meal with chocolate cake and turtle cheesecake. All this food plus a soda and two glasses of wine cans to $54! We took home leftovers! To top it off with amazing service by Bailey. We went here because our neighbor at the KOA recommended it. The bread was really good. Then the drinks didn't get refills. Then the food came. My cannelloni was solid cold in the middle and the meat was a sort of beef paste. Very strange. The kiddo liked her meal. My wife liked the salad though the chicken was also ice cold. The weirdest part was the guy busing tables. He wipes all of the stuff off the tables onto the ground. And then leaves it. He doesn't come back to sweep it up or anything. He leaves the pile of noodles and salad all over the ground. With people walking in it. This has to be the oddest place I've ever eaten. I didn't get sick from eating the cold meat paste but it wasn't very good to be honest. Sadly I did get get really sick two days after my meal here. Can't prove it was this place and the cold cannelloni, but who knows. read more

We were pleasantly surprised and the high quality of the food: the freshness of the pasta and sauces; the perfect presentation and the prompt, friendly service. Our server perfectly paired wine and dish, even! They're a block or so off I-20, so they're very easily located and you can park right at the front door.
