The meat market had a selection that included hens, intestines, various tongues and fish. Some of the packaged items were labeled in ways that did not identify what kind of "meat" it was so I'll call it mystery meat and not buy it. I will say that the meat pricing is much lower than the typical American markets and even lower than some other Asian markets I've been to (such as H Mart or Ranch Market). With very limited parking on the street it took a minute for me to find a spot 5 minutes later a spot opened up in front of the market. Upon entering I'm greeted by a tall woman with a beautiful accent and smile. I realize that the beef & chicken patties I stopped in for is frozen and they only have spicy and no chicken. I looked around the store to see what they have and its small store with lots of interesting items and I immediately zero in on something good. Here's what I chose. Totally unpretentious and "authentic" in its simple stark white shelves stocked with packets of powders, cans, and seeds. Both the owner (a woman) and the store employee (a man) are very helpful explaining how you can use something. If you're an adventurous home chef and you want to cook something different, give this little hidden gem a try. Our fufu turned out great! And for those of you for whom this is your family's cuisine of origin, I can tell you that I took a friend there who's from West Africa. Lo and behold, upon pickup, three hours later, it was NOT ready and nobody knew why it was just sitting in the queue. Regardless, if I had other prescriptions requested, I'm not sure why they wouldn't complete that one along with the others. Seems like common sense. I used to work in a retail pharmacy so I know things can happen, but this place has just consistently dropped the ball: not following up, not ordering when out of stock, not having prescriptions ready when promised. My husband has also had similar experiences. I just wanted a place that was helpful and reliable. Unfortunately, this is not it.
