We have been to Vega cafe several time and I always get the same things : quesadilla, rolled tacos and fruit salad. I have never been disappointed with the food or service. The guys working there on Friday afternoon and Saturday mornings are great. They are so nice and always get your food out fast. I love eating here too. It's never too busy and there's a nice breeze that comes in through the front doors. The place is very clean and there is a lot of parking as well. Love coming here!! read more

Great selection on types of foods here. Fresh, Tasty Fruit,. Vega has some pretty decent size portions for everything. The service has always been good, polite. These guys have burritos, tortas (good), sandwiches, fruit, blended drinks, coffee,....etc. Not something you'd expect out of a smaller place. All of the food i have tried here has been pretty good so far, so I give them an A. There is ample seating here, you will often find workers from the furniture stores here on lunch break. There is also outdoor seating. The outdoor seating has a grassy area with shade, so if you have a dog this looks like a cool place to go. There tortilla soup is really good too. They keep some tapatio, cholula at the counter if you need it. And the place is kept really clean, which is a plus. During lunch hours they open the side doors and a good breeze comes through inside, so be prepared to place napkins somewhere so they don't fly away! The only downside to this place I can find is the location. A LOT of people I know around the immediate area don't even know about it. read more

Vega Caffe has a large variety of sandwiches, fruit juices, snacks, and fast Mexican food. I'm often in the area, and find myself ordering something (usually the three-taco combo). What's also nice is that they deliver (your order must be over $25 though, I believe). The dining area is pretty large, or you can eat outside. They often have a television competing with their music system, so that's annoying. The people behind the counter are nice, and always happy to serve. read more

This place was so delicious! My husband and I got 1 turkey and 1 carne asada, we split it and it was a great decision! We tried both of them and I have to say the carne asada is my favorite however they were both really good!! I also got a pineapple smoothie and it was very delicious for this heat! I just finished moving a friend into a new house and he decided to pay for our lunch. He asked if I had ever ate at Vega Cafee and I said no and I've lived in the Chula Vista area since 2013. But long story short, my wife and I are finishing our second week of the whole30 diet which goes for 30 days. Needless you can't consume any artificial sugars along with many other restrictions. I wanted to order a salad but all their dressings had sugar in them. This is where they receive 5 stars from me, they gave some recommendations but at the same time they had fresh fruit on hand. I asked if they could make me a salad dressing from scratch utilizing the fruit they had and without hesitation they accommodated me and the made up on the spot dressing was delicious. Not particularly friendly but that doesn't usually put me off. Quality product is more important to me. I ordered the vampiro and oatmeal. First guy who helped me didn't know what the Vampiro included so he passed me to another guy (No description on menu). I do think people who are going to prep my food should know what goes into it but maybe that guy was new (or just not in The juice department here). The Vampiro is delicious by the way - beets, spinach and orange juice. And guy who made juice brought it to me at my table, which was nice even though I was taking my food "to go". Oatmeal was fine. Probably not their specialty which should have been obvious but my fault for ordering it - my weak attempt at making the healthy choice. Oatmeal was served with raisins and a slice of squaw bread. I get the raisins, but the slice of bread (though good bread), an odd pairing with oatmeal. Overall I'm a bit put off by the very broad menu. I don't trust they can do Mex food, juices & smoothies AND coffee beverages all that great all at once. But I encourage others to try. A good flow of customers (mostly eating their Mex food), tells me they do something right. This won't be my first choice for any of the above. read more

Just alright. Their tortas look good but are ridiculously overpowered by mayo and some thousand island-like concoction that leaves you feeling nauseated. I honestly could not keep going after a single bite. A friend and I grabbed lunch here today. The people and service were awesome and we ordered quite a bit. We had the Vampiro juice (10/10), coffee (5/10), an agua fresca (10/10), the fruit salad (10/10) the chilaquiles (7/10), and tacos (10/10). This is a great find in Eastlake and a good option when someone wants a post-hangover burrito and someone else prefers healthier options. read more

I have been looking for authentic Mexican food in Eastlake since moving here about 2 years ago. I had heard of this place but thought it was just another coffee shop, until my teenage daughter told me they have the best crane asada burrito! I then decided I had to see for myself. Since we have tried many dishes and have so far been very satisfied and also happy we finally found authentic Mexican food at taco shop pricing! They really need better marketing and I would suggest they change their name to attract more biz! read more

Never coming back here again! We waited 40 minutes for them to make our breakfast sandwich. We wanted a refund because we were tired of waiting and the man behind the register stated " I can't do a refund, it was paid on credit and I don't know how to do a refund. " He then began to say, " We're just two people working." He didn't even apologize which we would have gladly accepted and went about our day. I understand this place gets busy, but with two people working behind the counter, they still managed to fulfill orders well after we ordered, we were even the first customers of the day! We're not looking to get our meal for free, we we're looking to get a refund on the services and product that wasn't given. Management at Vega Caffe, I hope you read this. The food is great but you have HORRIBLE customer service. And I should have gotten my refund instead of you taking my money. read more

I have been to Vega Caffe a couple of times and have been pretty disappointed. This past visit wasnt the best. Walking up to the register and seeing four people working I assumed I would be taken care of promptly. It was until about a couple of minutes after I was standing there and said something, someone came up and took my order. I ordered a Torta de Milanesa combo which came with a drink and choice of fries, salad, fruit, or soup. I proceeded to serve my drink and grab some carrots from the side bar (this is a plus). After waiting 30 minutes and seeing food be taken to other patrons that ordered after me I kind of got agitated. I then asked the worker what was going on with my food and that we had been waiting 30 minutes for it, and she kind of gave me this dumbfounded "I dont know what is going on" look. She was trying to figure it out with me for 2 minutes, and I told her I did not know what was going on, I just knew that I hadnt received my food. She went back and a second later appeared with mine and my friends plate. She told me they were just sitting on the side and that they forgot about them, and also that the milanesa takes longer to cook. But 30 minutes for a thin milanesa steak to cook? I didnt buy that. All in all the flavor was bland, the guacamole was tasteless, and the salsa was mediocre. I havent had anything else on the menu other then a burrito or tortas. Hopefully they can redeem themselves, I might give it one more shot and update the review if necessary! read more

We are big fans of Vega Caffe! As in we go there -a LOT. This family owned restaurant is kind of located in a weird spot. Hidden off of Fenton in suburban Eastlake, surrounded by furniture superstores. But, whatever, who cares. Our favorite item on the menu is definitely the Carne Asada Tortas. (combo with the ceasar) Mmmm. We tried our very first Carne Asada torta there almost a year and a half ago when we had recently moved to the area, and fell head over heels. (and have tried many others since). What I like about Vega is that the bread is crispy and fresh and really makes the sandwich for me. If you aren't in the mood for carne asada torta, their ham and cheese torta is pretty good as well, as is their tortilla soup. oh and we ALWAYS get a fruit smoothie to go with on the side. Yummers. Service is friendly and prompt. Space is clean. Great spot for lunch. They have inside as well as outside cafe style dining. I've never been disappointed with Vega Caffe. Even my pickiest toddler enjoys going there for the cheese quesadillas. (and she does not like all cheese quesadillas). Oh, and my east-coast German mother ALWAYS requests a stop at Vega when she visits. Apparently, she too has been smitten with their Carne Asada tortas. read more

It's a nice little shop hidden away. They serve a decent portion for the price of the food, and the staff is really nice. They serve sandwiches, mexican food, coffee, breakfast, anything you could want. Not too many people know about this place, it's one of the hidden gems in my hood. I've had the Carna Asada tortas and the grilled Chicken breast tortas, by the way, this almost has two full chicken breasts in the sandwich, very very filling. We also ordered the small fruit bowl, the fruit is always very fresh and delicious. On our last visit we ordered a papaya, mango and banana juice drink. These drinks are on the warm side, so you might want to add a little ice. read more
