It was hard to make it here during my trip to Phoenix because of their limited hours, but I am SO…read moreglad I did. As a health food vegan, I am always on the lookout for food like this: whole foods/plant-based, including some oil-free options. Their whole menu reads like a list of my favorite food buzzwords: buckwheat, lentil cauliflower scramble, sunflower seed meat, local fermented sauerkraut, freshly milled Sonoran wheat; tempeh, sourdough, homemade seeded bread, homemade cashew milk, etc. etc. It was legitimately hard to decide what to get. I went with the baked(!) strawberry banana oat buckwheat pancakes. Super tasty, and a generous portion. I also couldn't resist an oil-free sunbutter cookie (with its wacky bluegreen tinge that was apparently from the sunflower seeds) and also loved the cold brew coffee with cashew milk.

It is a little pricey, however, it's worth the cost. As I mentioned, everything is healthy and made fresh. You can't get that without paying a bit extra Their bread is so good, the chutney is awesome, their little side salads are so tasty. I haven't tried anything here that I have not loved. They are a small husband and wife run business, which is always great to see. They are very friendly people who clearly love what they do. There's limited seating indoors, as it's inside Barnone, but you can easily find places to sit outdoors as well.

From the first bite, it was clear this wasn't just cooked food, it was made with intention. Hot, fresh, flavorful, and straight from the soul. Let's just say Tabitha Brown wasn't lying--everything is good. No exaggeration. This is comfort food done right. No shortcuts, no bland plates, just real flavor and care in every bite. Very delicious and absolutely worth the hype. Tips: Parking can be limited and the wait can be long, so come prepared. Stay cool, stay hydrated, and definitely use the restroom before you arrive. Trust me--you'll want to focus on the food once you get it.

The Nana's Soul plate used to come with more than two ribs, then it was reduced to two, and now it's down to just one unless you pay extra for another. The plate also used to include all three sides--mac and cheese, collard greens, and beans--along with cornbread. Now you're limited to choosing only two sides, and the cornbread is gone. It's disappointing to see how much the restaurant has declined since the beloved Nana passed away. I hate to say it, but I won't be returning.

Everyone (including the Filipinos from all over the United states) was raving about the food and the catering team set up, broke down, and made the whole experience a joy, even in all the sorrow. We had BBQ skewers (they went FAST! Get a lot!), lumpia (chicken and pork, but we sampled the vegan ones and they were amazing as well, get more because these went faster than the skewers!), Kare Kare (so tasty), Beef Kaldereta (classic and delicious), and Ginataan, Biko, and Mango Shortcake (soooo perfect). But, we all know adobo is the benchmark in filipino food and My Tita's Kusina's is the bomb for sure. We made the leftovers into a great silog breakfast the next day and it was heaven. I can't say enough how delicious the food was, and you can tell it's all cooked from the heart. If you're vegan, Melissa made some of the most interesting and wonderful vegan versions of Filipino food I have ever tasted. I know our family will be coming back to the area hopefully very often to spend time with my brother and his kids here all together and we know who we're calling for the good stuff! Thank you again to The My Tita's Kusina team!

If all avocado toasts were like this, I don't know why anyone would choose something else! The sourdough bread was lightly toasted but not so stiff that it scraped up my mouth. The flavors of the toppings gave it a hearty, yet sweet decadence and the aioli really sealed the deal! My server checked on me plenty but not more than was comfortable and the place itself was small, but it wasn't overwhelming in any way. I can't wait to come back and try more menu items! (There were about ten small tables under the "Brunchin" wall, just didn't want to share all of the people that were filling them)

Tried the strawberry colada mimosa as it was the special of the month. I only tasted champagne with hint if strawberry no coconut. Name felt slightly misleading. Food: I got the banana foster French toast - this was really good not to sweet, nice crunchy ends with soft middle. Per usual no combo for French toast so a side of bacon was $4 and so are potatoes. They do offer a platter for $7 but it includes eggs which i did not want. We ordered side of chicken it needed seasoning bad. Service was okay I feel our waitress tried to connect with us but she was a little awkward. Slightly overpriced for food that is pretty simple in my opinion.

The restaurant was fairly busy with a few people waiting for their takeout. There's ample seating indoor and some outdoor. I ordered lemon sesame tofu tacos and bacon mac & cheese on one of their devices near the entrance. A staff member came up to me shortly after and asked if I wanted a sample of their lemonades. I don't remember what flavor, but it was tasty and refreshing. My order didn't take too long and I waited to enjoy them at home. The tofu tacos were phenomenal! Full of flavor and way better than I expected. The bacon mac and cheese was also fantastic. It was rich and creamy. Not too busy of a shopping area so parking was easy. I walked inside and a staff member asked if I was picking up, and had my food ready to go. I didn't ask for utensils and thankfully they didn't give me any. They do have them available on the side if needed. I liked that they had free stickers so I took two. It wasn't busy when I stopped by, just one couple dining in, but they had a few bags for takeout so that seems to keep them busy. Ambiance was nice with good amount of seating. I decided to have lunch in the nearby preserve and I enjoyed my food. I ordered the chickn sandwich, buffalo style, with a side of fries. The sandwich was delicious! Loved the flavors and it was filling. I'm glad I got it Buffalo style because the spiciness was great. The fries tasted good but were soft rather than crispy, which is what I prefer. I also got a side of cheez sauce ($2) which was pricey considering the size, and it didn't taste like cheese or anything similar. I would pass on this in the future. I ordered their Brussels sprouts which came with a side of tahini sauce, but they were salty and yummy so the sauce wasn't necessary imo. Overall I love vegan food and I wish there were more restaurants that serve it. This spot is solid and I'd come back to try other menu items and support them.
