First time in Portland. Veggie Grill was literally on the next block from our hotel, Hilton. Food was excellent! My wife had the carne asada burrito and loved it. Texture and flavor of the "meat" was perfect. She ate the whole thing! Rarely happens. I had Assorted tacos, Tejano, Asada and Cauliflower. I was licking my fingers. Spice level was spot on for me, didn't even need the Cholula I brought to the table. So flavorful. Ambiance is typical fast food like. Clean and functional. Lots of seating. Veggie Grill - downtown Portland, OR We're in Pdx for a few days. Sooo many places to try, new and old, so little time lol. While we can eat Veggie Grill in Seattle, tonight we opted for convenience as Veggie Grill is within a few minutes walk of our hotel and I've been jonesing their Pan Seared Salmon protein plate ever since it was first announced but haven't had the chance to stop by Veggie Grill locally. We got a bit carried away with ordering too much, which isn't unusual when going to Veggie Grill lol, it almost seems sacrilegious to go there and not order some variety of Mac and Cheese . Everything was great, VG never disappoints . The cheese bites were great, haven't had them before .. pretty sure it's a relatively new offering. The center was soft and cheesy and nicely balanced with the dipping sauce. The Seared Salmon had a great flavor. If I'm being honest, I didn't find it to be very reminiscent of salmon, there was no flakiness associated with salmon, this dish had more of a vegan spam feel/ texture. This was my observation but it's not intended as a critique, just my objective take. The dish was really good, very flavorful, the color was reminiscent of salmon and there was a subtle but noticeably pleasant seafood-y after-taste on the back end. I have to mention how friendly and personable everyone was. We've always found staff at VG and Next Level to be friendly but everyone tonight just seemed really genuinely approachable and friendly. Kelsey took our order for us and chatting with her really felt like we were in a place where we belonged, a vegan home away from home, an extra touch that was really appreciated. So my recommendation is ... come for the food, come for the camaraderie, and then stay way too long because you're gingerly nursing a food coma from ordering and eating too much . read more

The service here was efficient and direct. I knew what I was going to get. Were there crowds?? Nope. It was nice not having a a loud crowd make a bunch of noise The real amazing part was trying something different. You think that oh a regular Buffalo chicken wrap going to be the only good tasting one. Not when you're here. When you make that order, when you get that wrap, you are in for a different experience. I just love, love their food here. It has gotten pricier every year (no fun!) however the service is quick and I have always been impressed with the food quality. I love how they have comfort food like fried buffalo chicken wraps, but also more healthy bowls with tempeh. I have eaten here about 200 times, that says it all. Ok, so I reduced a star from the 5 stars I left for the Cedar Hills location, and I will explain why. This Downtown location doesn't have outdoor seating, yet, according to my friend, it did in the past. Secondly, it doesn't offer the comfortable boothes you will find in Cedar Hills. The chairs are typical, hard, not so comfy chairs. They did appear to have half boothes up top, but that area was unfortunately closed off. I also noticed the back door was boarded up, perhaps there was a burglary? I hope they relocate to the burbs honestly, where looking and paying for parking is a non issue. So on to the food finally. I ordered the Sunrise burger because it's a limited time only offering. I don't like that the burgers come alacart, I feel that fries should come automatically for a $16 vegan burger. While I am not a fan of the beyond burger patty they use if it was by itself (though BB's ground beef vs the patty is better), it's still a 5 star vegan burger because they load it with so much good stuff that all just works so well together! The BB patty alongside the plant based bacon, the plant based cheese, the dressing, the bun (they don't use the crap buns), together it was all sooo super good. Oh and how could I forget the egg!? The egg didn't really have flavor, but it looked like an egg! And it added a different texture since it was prepared sunny side up, so quite runny, not sure how I feel about that either way- Grade A The fish tacos continue to be tasty. You only get 2 small ones because it's an appetizer. I just wish they were also offered in a wheat tortilla, or a tastier corn tortilla. My entire life I've only ever once had a good corn tortilla. They're pretty much the same everywhere. - Grade B My friend had a Chicken Caesars Salad. I mentioned before I don't like their chicken strips. I still don't like their chicken in any form. Too bad because I've liked vegan chicken before. - Grade C- Lastly, I've had a partial change of heart about their Korean steak dish. I liked it when my friend ordered it. But when you have a bite of something, it's not the same as eating all of it. It really is too spicy. While it was ordered with the orange sauce on the side, that wasn't the sauce that was spicy apparently. Most of the spice is in the steak part, and that's the best part! I will ask if it can be made less spicy if possible. - Grade A+ if it can be made less spicy, otherwise C- The Belgian chocolate cake was once again very creamy, rich, and delicious, but I forgot to take a photo this time.- Grade A read more

I forgot how good this place was. It's a great spot for vegan food, whether you're looking for something on the healthier side or want something approximating junk food. The bowls are a good option for the former. I got something that looked like bibimbap complete with a Just Egg (surprisingly authentic). The specials menu also changes pretty regularly. One of my friends recommended veggie grill to me about three years ago, and I finally got a chance to try their food for some reason. I didn't think it was plant-based. I thought it was just an old regular degular chick joint, but it wasn't so I gave them a try. At first glance, this place looked like it was condemned because it has plywood on all the windows minus the entry door. The menu mainly consisted of plant-based chicken. I chose the strips, which I thought were decent. They were definitely hot, crispy, and fresh. My only complaint is the flavor. I do think it needs an enhancement but other than that, I will definitely go back and try more options . The side Mac & Cheese completes any meal. It was not super cheesy but had the creaminess. This location is conveniently located downtown for a quick bite. I'm an omnivor whoent there with friends hoping to find lots of vegetable dishes with minimum processing. Found a lot of veggi meat sandwiches/burgers served as real meat ones. My crispy chicken sandwich had more crisp than vegie chicken (which was dry and pretty bland). My friend had a "burger" that turned into big crumbs after first bite. I seldomly eat vegetarian meat dishes so don't know how these compare to other veggie food places. The cucumber salad was very good. Inspite of the name I don't think any of the dishes are actually "grilled." Was there at around 6PM on a Saturday with very small crowd. Service was very slow. Never thought I'd be writing a review about cookies getting smaller but here I am.... I've been a long time patron of this business, so maybe that's the problem, but their 3 pack of cookies have been rolled so thin they're practically falling apart when you try to grab one. If you want to give less cookie due to shrinkflation, please just put less cookies in the bag, we never needed a 3 pack, I would be okay with just 1 normal size cookie... but then I guess you wouldn't be able to charge $6 anymore =/ They make these cookies in-house so I'm sure the profit margins were already off the charts, the fact that they're trying to squeeze even more out of it makes me not want to support this business anymore and believe me I have spent thousands on food here but I can recognize bullcrap when I see it and they've really shown their true colors with this one read more

Meh. The grilled chickn sandwich smelled and tasted mostly like liquid smoke if you know what that stuff is. Far too much tomato and not enough avocado and sprouts. The brioche bun was pretty good but unless they make them in house hard to give credit there. The chipotle aioli that came with the fries was decent. I've had better on all counts. The "large" side of fries that's supposed to come with the sandwich cost me an extra $6.75 which was wild to me. So a sandwich with a side of fries cost me $20+ (a single meal!!) for nothing special and a sandwich I barely could eat! I've been here a few times bc they are part of the inkind app /program. I might not have tried it otherwise! Great selection of outdoor seating as well which I love because I still try to frequent outdoor seating. The portions are a good size for the price and I love being able to use the inKind app to get a little discount to sometimes when they have specials. I love that it's really easy to know what's gluten-free or other dietary modifications that you might need. They're really good with ingredients and knowing what's what. Quick service! We were recently in PDX. We had plans to swing by another place near PCS but alas being Sunday afternoon, they were closed. Tried two more places that were closed. As someone who needs to eat vegan/gluten free and more, I was searching yelp before remembering this place. And they were open! LSS, after much searching thru the ingredients book and asking questions of the cooks, we were able to put together a modified quinoa bowl for me. My thanks to the cashier/waitress, who cheerfully answered all of our questions for us in between serving people and more.
