My boyfriend (who's not vegan - loves it!) and I come here at least once a month for dinner, and i come here for lunch quite frequently. They have incredible dish replications for your typical Chinese restaurant foods and quite honestly you can not tell that you are not eating real fish/meat that's why we love this place. The food is not only Chinese based they have all sorts of cultural bits to choose from - lots of American, Thai, Indian..) When we go we typically choose to order tons of appetizers because theyre so easy to pick at. The sushi is really good, identical replications. For starters, this place is huge. It makes me wonder if this place used to be anything else before Veggie Heaven. The place is finished in carpet, which only confirms my theory this place might have been anything but a restaurant in the past. Anyway.... The menu itself is about 10 pages long. I was given 2, I can't recall the differences between the 2, but I just know they were 2 different menus. Perhaps a lunch and dinner one? Dunno. But something you DO need to know is: anything listed as duck, chicken or any kind of protein, is all made from soy/seitan. It's not real meat. The title of the restaurant suggests this but just in case you didn't know, I am telling you. Lunch prices run around $7-9 and no more than that. I ordered L-24, lunch special #24 but absolutely cannot remember the name of the dish. Suffice it to say, I didn't come here for a tasty meal, just something to fill me up before the movies. My chicken and dish came with a complimentary spring roll, which I wouldn't have minded more of. All in all I'd say this place is pretty unique in that it offers almost 200 different vegan dishes, and that you shouldn't expect the prices of a Chinese takeout place, because that isn't what this is. Even if that were so, I assume meat substitutes to be costlier than traditional protein choices. So I think the price is fair. In a perfect world the place wouldn't be finished in carpet, and the vegan chicken would taste like real chicken, but this place comes to a close finish and that's good enough for me. Veggie heaven is pretty awesome, the menu options are bountiful, staff is friendly and everything is 100% vegetarian, they also have some vegan options. The menu can be a little confusing to navigate and probably needs some polishing up. It'll read as 'beef and broccoli' with no description stating it contains tofu or seitan. They seem to have two menus and that can be a little overwhelming and bewildering too. The food itself is tasty I had the sesame 'chicken' and my lovely dining partner had the Mongolian 'beef' both were seitan based and had brown rice on the side. The portions were certainly large enough for 4 people instead of two! Favor was great tasted exactly like Chinese food, the texture of the seitan was just a little bit more tender than that of actual chicken, but still delicious. It's been quite a minute since I've been to this spot, but it definitely deserves a recommending review. For the 5 something years my brother was vegan, this was our go to spot in ordering holiday meals. There was always a huge menu of items to choose from, everything having it's own unique taste. Two stars for dishonesty and disrespect. I would probably give this place 5 stars based on the food alone but unfortunately I had a pretty insulting experience with ordering/takeout. My order had two black bean burgers, I was CHARGED for the TWO burgers and yet lo' and behold they only sent one burger. This usually wouldn't be a big deal; I get that running a business is hard, can't fret over miscounting burgers every once in a while. That being said, managements' response was a blunder of epic proportions (think the Battle of Gettysburg or Waterloo). First person I talked to refused to apologize and said they "only had one burger left" and that "they tried to call me". This alibi has more holes than a slice of Swiss cheese; for one, if they only had one burger, why on gods green Earth did they CHARGE me for TWO? Secondly, I neither received nor missed any phone calls between ordering and receiving my food, so that argument is pretty much dead on arrival...nice try jerkoff. The second person I spoke to did not apologize for messing up my order and instead just told me to get a refund on doordash (which I did). I really don't understand why both people I talked to refused to admit to making an honest mistake. Seriously, if either person just apologized and admitted fault I wouldn't be writing this diatribe. In conclusion, this place has pretty stellar food with an abrasive and egotistical staff. Considered yourself forewarned. read more

The place is pretty big and roomy, but dated, the carpet really needed to be clean or replace. Took away one star for that reason. Food being it's all veggie, they did a wonderful job with creating mock beef, fish, Pork and many wonderful dishes to chose from. A large menu with so many variety. We ordered off the lunch menu, beef with vegetables, Tofu and vegetables. They were delicious. Came in as a walk in and was seated right away, this place is huge you wouldn't expect it to be that big from the outside. Ordered sweet potato, shrimp tempura and a dragon roll. Loved them all. My friend ordered the mango chicken she comes to veggie heaven about once a week. She's vegan and this is her go to place to eat to EVERYTHING is vegan. I tired the mango chicken and was super impressed with the taste. The veggies are perfectly cooked. For dessert we got pumpkin cheese cake we forgot to take a picture. It was really good. You wouldn't know any of the food was vegan from the way it taste. The mango chicken you would know it's vegan by the texture but not the taste. 10/10 recommend this place. Is it worth the money? I've rated the Montclair location before and I'm just as in love with the Teaneck one. Especially since I'm attempting to participate in Veganuary, finding restaurants that I can actually eat and enjoy has been a bit of a struggle. Veggie Heaven has always got my back though. The food is consistently a 10/10 and I get practically the same thing every time I come here. Everything on the menu is plant based, this place is a vegetarian dream! I've been going to Veggie Heaven since I was a teenager. I've always enjoyed it, vegan or not. But It seems as though they've branched out to other types of food besides Asian and it's amazing. Vegan Chili was so good I'd prefer it over meat chili. Duck and chicken saltimboca was DELICIOUS. The black Forrest cake and cheesecake really confuses me because they taste just as good if not better than any other I've had. I just wish I still lived close by to have it more often. Im giving this place 4.5 stars. I really liked this veggie heaven compared to its other restaurant in Montclair. It's a larger space and not packed so there's no waiting for a table. Service is super quick too! I loved the orange flavored beef and since they have dishes from different ethnicities I wanted to try something Indian. I was debating between the butter chicken and the malaman curry and ended up getting the curry. I thought it would be made in a sauce but the dish was dry. It was still very flavorful so I didn't mind it. I also got the green tea cake which was delicious. It had a walnuts taste to it and a thin layer of frosting on it which was perfect. read more

It is a heaven and not just for vegans! Huge menu - we were shocked by the diversity and prices. They serve complimentary tea which we enjoyed very much. We ordered Sweet & Sour Chicken ($11.25) and Roast Vege Chicken Lo Mein ($7.50). And Oh my! So tasty, so delicious. Huge portion. Lucky we were hungry! We couldn't resist and we ordered Chocolate and Coconut cupcake. Both yummy! And wait, that's not the end. When we asked for a check with super full stomachs, our waiter brought fortune cookie and watermelon. Space is bigger than it looks like from the outside, but also very cozy and clean. When meeting up with a strictly vegetarian friend, this place was recommended as a good option. I am not always a fan of "fake" meat but this place does a really good job of making some tasty Asian dishes! My friend and I met for a late lunch so I was able to take advantage of the lunch special where for $7.25, I got a choice of soup or spring roll, entree dish, and choice of rice. I went with sesame chicken with brown rice and a spring roll. Sesame chicken tasted great and was quite filling, however, it didn't really taste like chicken. I was impressed with the texture and flavor though it was a tofu like taste. Spring roll was also crispy and flavorful. Also an amazing deal for the amount of food! Menu is huge with literally every Chinese dish imaginable. Specials include sushi as well. The place has little ambiance - worn out carpet, overgrown plants, and views of refrigerators and microwaves from dining room yet you are going for the food. They also give you tea and fortune cookies included which is a nice touch. Service is fast though you may have to flag down your waiter if you need any sort of refill. One of my friends recently became a vegan, so we came here for dinner the other night. The entire menu is vegan, which is amazing. The restaurant is pretty large for the area, and quiet. We ordered the scallion pancakes and Indian samosa rolls as appetizers. The scallion pancakes were excellent. Crispy, but not greasy. The samosas came in an egg roll wrapper, which confused me until I noticed the menu did say roll. They were good, but I still prefer regular samosas. As an entree, I had the crispy garlic chicken. The garlic sauce had a lot of garlic flavor, and the texture of the fake chicken was spot on. The only way you could tell it wasn't real chicken would be the flavor, which was mostly hidden by the sauce anyway. I like that I had the option of brown rice too. For the hell of it, we tried the vegan cheesecake. I was fully prepared for it to suck, since it's a cheesecake with no cheese or dairy in general. But it was surprisingly good. I visited veggie heaven last night with a friend. I ordered spring rolls and scallion pancakes for an appetizer. Both tasted pretty good. The food does taste healthier than regular Chinese food. It does not taste deep fried which is great. The sauces that came with both were good. For dinner I had shrimp tempura sushi. It was good. For a vegan this place is wonderful. If you're in the mood for real sushi it may or may not hit the spot. The setting of the restaurant is really nice and a good place to come talk and have dinner. The service was okay. When we walked in we were not welcomed and waiting behind people for 5 minutes before anyone said anything to us. Our waiter wasnt in the best mood and was not that friendly.
