I wouldn't bother with this place. My wife and I have tried 3 times to use their services and were only successful once. The fist visit was fine. The waiting area was a little dirty, but whatever, there are dogs in and out all day. The second time we showed up for our appointment and they were closed. There was a sign on the door that said there was some issue with their water. Okay, things happen and you can't wash a dog without water. But I didn't receive any notice about this. They send me confirmation emails and text for an appointment but couldn't shoot me another text telling me they didn't have water? So I drove across town with two barking dogs for nothing. The third time was today. I was running late getting my dogs in the car. They're Yorkies, so it's not a physical issue, they just didn't want to cooperate. I arrived about 12 minutes late for a 12:00pm appointment. Gave the name of our dogs and apologized for being late. She told me it was too late because they don't take late appointments after fifteen minutes. She said it was. I said it is NOW because we've been talking for 3 minutes but she wasn't having it. Told me she couldn't manage to wash and groom my two small dogs in an hour and 45 minutes...so I just walked out. He didn't want to make $100 because of 3 minutes. I guess 1/3 isn't too bad, but I don't have time to deal with that level of nonsense. If you do, good luck to you using these people. read more

Love these girls. I have a pug and normally they a super hard to get their nails trimmed, not here she loves it. I also have a beast aka white golden retriever also very hard to handle, not here. They treat my babies like they are their own. read more

I was nervous to take my dog Lucy to a new groomer because she's a sometimes skitish rescue dog that hates getting her nails done. On recommendation from my mother in law, who also takes her two rescues I tried out The Velvet Bow for Lucy. They got me an appointment the same day, and were quite friendly. Additionally my anxiety was diminished immediately when I was told it would take 2-3 hours for her bath and nail trim because it's a scary experience for dogs and they don't like to force them and make it traumatic. When I picked her up a couple hours later she was "as dry as we could get her" because they didn't force her to endure the blow dryer that scared her. She smells fresh and clean and I am so grateful to the staff of The Velvet Bow for being patient with my girl. I will absolutely be bringing her back. read more

I'm super disappointed by this place. I really had high hopes after researching and going thru reviews of each grooming shop, I was happy to give this place a try. I don't get my dog groomed often but sometimes it's more like a treat for me to have her groomed, so I don't have to deal with all the mess and time it takes me. She's not hard to groom and I am definitely not picky about the cut. Just make her look cute and I asked for her feet to be cleaned up really well. When we got there the entire front area was shockingly dirty and dusty. I do understand you can't have it pristine all the time but it was pretty bad. Don't get me wrong, the staff...front desk and the woman who actually did the groom were super nice and I have no issue with them that way. I have been to many grooming places over the years and I was definitely taken aback by the cleanliness or lack there of but because of the reviews decided to go thru with the service. The pictures of the interior online look nothing like what I saw. Once I filled out the paperwork, the front desk lady told me 2-4 hours which was fine. They close at 5 and I had dropped her off at 3. Thinking I was making them stay late that day I planned to tip well to show my appreciation for taking me so late in the day. She called before 5 and told me she was already done. I thought it was a bit quick but when I saw her, she looked ok. I should have looked her over much more thoroughly. Once home I noticed a small mat on her stomach that was not shaved. She is genetically blessed with 2 dangly rear dewclaws. They were just as furry and the nail just as long as when I dropped her off. Her nails were barely barely cut at all which is a shame because she certainly needed it and her right ear had dirt in it. I am not someone who is going to complain and make a big scene when I am an unhappy customer. I just won't ever go back again. I feel like maybe they have good intentions but they definitely rushed the hell out of my dog's groom. I am not wealthy but I pay a fair price for services and I damn sure tip well. I used to be a dog bather,so I am very appreciative and know what goes into a good groom. I LOVE to support local businesses which is why it's just so disappointing. I gave one star because this place always does a great job with my dogs nails. I do have to say they are never open. They have a sign on their door that says they're gone half the day when it says they're open till 5, I have called the past three days all in different time frames and nobody has answered nor picked up. I just want to see if they're open to get my dogs nails trimmed but I am not driving 20 minutes to have the door locked. read more

This is the worst pet grooming place I've ever been to and I will never go back they are a scam. We said that we had a Groupon and that one of our dogs were a rescue dog then we got a call saying that the rescue dog was really hard to work with so they charged $20 additional to the Groupon even though he has never been hard to work with and he is mellow. We also expressed both my dogs glands before we went but we never told them that, we also never requested to have there glands expressed but in the same call we got previously they told us they were charging us for the glands and we told them again that we didn't request that so they dropped the fee for the glands. If you have a dog don't bring it there I would suggest best in show they are nice, quick, and good with dogs. They also left my dog hanging by its neck for a moment before I looked back there and saw it. So honestly I beg you for the sake of your dogs safety do not bring it here. read more

Unfortunately, owner is disorganized, she has difficult time recording correct appointment times and can't locate dog owner's name/contact info when needed. As much as I enjoyed my dog's experience there, I will not be going back due to planning a day off a work around my dog's scheduled grooming appointment, only to have owner not have recorded it correctly in her book. Went in yesterday had an appointment, but was running late do to meeting out of our control. Called owner Amanda, left a message. Loaded my 3 dogs up. Drove there, was refused service, and said she couldn't fit them in. Was only 1 dog there. I understand if she wanted us to reschedule, but she never called us before we got there. We've always had great experiences with Amanda and her staff. Our dog is highly anxious and everyone there is great with him. They do a wonderful job grooming and topping off with the cool scarf. After having a bad experience at PetSmart, The Velvet Bow is the only place we'd ever go to for grooming. read more

Had my dog trimmed there a few times. However the last time, they told me my dog needs to be given something to calm him down before I bring him again. Also I went to pay and they told me their charge card machine wasn't working. It wasn't working the last 2 mos prior to that. They never informed me when making appt, when I dropped him off or when they called to tell me he was done. They waited till I went to pay, thank goodness I had enough cash. Left message for an appointment, called back the same day. Explained that my dog who's less then two years hasn't had the best luck with groomers. Normally when I pick up my puppy she's shaking and clawing at me to leave. ( from other groomers) When I went back to get her she was happy to see me, but calm. I have a rescue pitbull/mastiff mix dog. She lost a leg from abuse, so she is a lot defensive, until she knows you. I took her for the second time today and I can't say enough about the ladies that took care of her! She was all sassy and beautiful when I came to pick her up, tail a wagging to beat the band! I recently had my dog groomed here. The workers they had their we're so knowledgeable on everything. My dog has had really bad experiences at other shops. They made me feel so comfortable about leaving my dog. My Scooby smelled so amazing and she wasn't shaking like she usually does. I will recommend this shop to everyone I know!!!!!! read more

I had the worst experience ever. My dog got not only a cut that he looked like a rat, but I got charged for extras and they didn't ask me if I want that done. I spesificly asked Yorkshire style and he didn't get anything close to it. Really sad about service we got, first time in 8 years he looks ugly. read more

I took my miniature schnauzer to Velvet Bow a couple of weeks ago. When I picked him up he had something red that looked like blood on his left eye. I freaked out because it wasn't there when I dropped him off. I showed the young lady at the counter who then took photos. I messaged Amanda with no response. Then she finally responded saying it wasn't there when she groomed him. Well we were still there when I noticed it so I didn't do it. Amanda insisted it was cherry eye and told me to take him to the vet. She said she didn't do it but if the vet said it was caused by her then she would pay the bill. So I took him to the vet the next morning. The vet said it was infected and gave me medicine and an ointment. The bill was 80.00 total. So I told Amanda and she denied it being her fault. She said she spoke to two vets and they said it couldn't have happened there. Again it wasn't there when I dropped him off and when I picked him up it was there. Keep in mind we hadn't left the salon yet and the those vets never saw my dog. So if you take your child to daycare and she's fine but you pick her up and her leg is broken are you responsible for it? Amanda showed no sympathy nor responsibility for what happened. My poor dog had a big chunk of red blood that looked like a clot bulging from his eye when I picked him up. I was so angry! She then called my vet first thing in the morning after she found out who it was. I didn't tell her. She then manipulated him and said he said it wasn't caused by her. She lied. My vet said he told her it can happen from the restraint being too tight on the dog while grooming. I have that in writing. Here it is 2 weeks later and Amanda has made no attempt to refund me the vet bill. I'm going to make sure she takes responsibility for this. I took my poor dog to be groomed not harmed. I will not return to Velvet Bow I made this clear to Amanda. Then she said I was banned from there. Excuse me? I would never go back. The last time I took him he had a huge red mark around his genitals. She blew that off too. I was hesitant about bringing him back. I should have listened to my first mind. Never again!
