We shop at Valley Fair mall quite often but this was the first time passing by Venci! I got a large size with the the Chocolate Hazelnut, the Stracciatella and the Pistachio flavors! Gelato was great. Reason for one star less is that the cone cost extra which isn't terrible but the sign says cone waffle cone included when ordering the large size (should've said included only if you get the cone and not the cup).
Everything we've tried at Venchi has been quite good. The cool "chocolate" wall is to tempting to pass by. The gelato cones are so pretty and I like how you can customize your cone. The crepe was pretty good but very rich, so make sure you have some water on hand or gelato to eat with it. The workers are very nice considering they are in a stressful environment with a long line of customers. They also have an area where they have chocolate bon bons, bars, and such for sale.
It's my second time here and first time was 2 years ago. Came here on a Thursday night and the line didn't look long at all so we decided to get some gelato. Even though the line wasn't long, it did take awhile to order. The service here is a bit slow since there are less workers compared to other gelato spots. I got to sample a few different flavors and it was hard to choose just one. I ordered the small cup with chocolate inside w/piedmont hazelnut. It was so yummy. The texture of this gelato is more thick and it wasn't too sweet. The hazelnut flavor paired well with the chocolate inside. I would definitely come back again!
So expensive... but so good. This is the place to go when you're craving full-bodied flavors of gelato. You have plenty of options at VF, but Venchi holds a special place in my heart as it's not too heavy, not too sweet, and really has a flavor for everyone. My previous go-to was a certain store located outside known for unique flavors that rotate every month. Unfortunately, their flavors have gotten a bit too crazy for me, and are oftentimes so sweet that it's hard to finish a single portion without sharing. At Venchi, I can easily eat a regular size by myself and feel so satisfied after. One thing to know before you go is that you pay first before you sample, so you'll need to commit to how many flavors and what size you want before sampling. I highly recommend upgrading to the freshly made waffle cone. There's a lot of other options like adding chocolate and other toppings to your cone, but that's completely up to you. As for the sampling, the people working there are very patient and generous, and will let you sample to your heart's content! If you have specific preferences (like you prefer less sweet or maybe even more sweet), they're happy to share their recommendations as well. My go to is pistachio and cremino, which is like a more hazelnutty version of nutella (and also less sweet than nutella). PS - make sure to sign up for their rewards program! They're running a promotion where you get a free mini bar of chocolate with a purchase of $20. After spending $40, you'll start getting 5% off future purchases.

Their gelato is still amazing and their local service has won us back.
This was my first visit to this popular spot inside Valley Fair Mall. The decoration is incredibly eye-catching and creates a great vibe. They have a many selection to choose from, including ice cream, gelato, and sorbet. You can customize your order by choosing a cup or a cone (plain or dipped in chocolate and nuts). We tried a couple of options and they were all yummy! The line moves pretty slowly. When I visited, there was only one person handling both orders and payments, which created a bit of a bottleneck. It's definitely not cheap, so expect to pay a premium for the mall location and the quality. Overall, it's a great place for a high-quality treat if you aren't in a huge rush!
Came here on a Friday night for gelato. Line was about five minutes, not bad at all. You pay before you try samples here, which makes sense but takes a second to adjust to. Staff was friendly, but ordering felt like running a gauntlet of upsells. Bigger cup size, nuts on the inside, add-ons across the board, all at steep markups. I declined everything and just ordered what I came for. Got the smallest size with two flavors: matcha and double fudge. The matcha was earthy and sweet, tasted like actual matcha. The double fudge was intense, almost like nutella. Both were genuinely high quality.
Chocoviar is absolute favorite for anyone with nut allergies. Though it's dark chocolate, it is not bitter or overpowering. Texture is smooth as any other flavor in Venchi. For my toddler, who has nut allergy, they made sure to grab her scoop of Chocoviar from their back store reserve just because a container of another flavor that had nuts in it, was placed next to the Chocoviar container. Definitely loved this kind of service
This was my first time ever going to this particular ice cream parlor and interestingly enough everything closed early on this particular Valentine's Day Saturday weekend!!! The gentleman got a bit confused that our order and we ended up getting three scoops instead of two, but that was fine. We got Matcha, mango, use lemon! Each flavor had a very unique, strong taste! I really like the combo of the Yuzu lemon and Matcha together!! The chocolate medallion wasn't to our liking, but we're picky when it comes to chocolate. Overall, the set up was a little time-consuming also, but there was one person scooping, one person at the register and another person. Very busy working to clean up everything in the back. The gentleman three people ahead less literally wanted to try every single flavor so the other people between him and us working a little frustrated. I figured since our dinner reservations weren't until 11 PM at Joey's it didn't really matter since we would be waiting regardless! Lol. Overall, I will definitely go back and try other ice cream or sorbets from this particular company since the flavors were so delicious and refreshing! I was also very happy that this particular ice cream parlor was open so late!!
I saw a huge line for this place which peaked my interest. I've actually heard of this place before. Well known for their chocolate, so I wanted to try something. Honestly, I was pretty underwhelmed when I tried the gelato. We were also offered a piece of chocolate while we waited in line. That wasn't amazing either. I actually prefer Laderach's chocolate more if I were honest. Probably won't be back.
We got in line at Venchi on a Saturday evening. We waited for 25 minutes, which wasn't bad compared to how long the line was during its inception. The line was crowded but not too loud. The workers were calm and friendly, letting us sample several flavors before ordering. We ordered a waffle cone with three scoops: stracciatella (chocolate chip), hazelnut, and bueno & brutto. These are all chocolatey and sweet flavors, so I would recommend them together. The gelato tasted sweet and fresh, perfect for a treat on a hot day. Although I had a great gelato experience, I would not want to wait in that line again.
Wow this is the best gelato I've ever had. I had a fair share in my life time but this takes the cake. I went on a Wednesday night when there's hardly a line. This place gets very busy on the weekends. Loved their hand dipped chocolate cones covered in hazelnuts. Their cones are the best I've ever had and tastes so natural. I learned that Venchi prioritize the natural essence of their chocolates and gelato, steering clear of preservatives, artificial flavorings, and colorings. They have an ongoing effort to gradually reduce sugar content each year, ensuring nothing is excessively sweet. I was most impressed with Venchi's commitment to environmental consciousness, maintaining low emissions for their ingredients. Fun Fact: Their pistachios are cultivated on a volcano in Italy! Favorite gelato flavors: -Strawberry with chocolate (berries in love) -hazelnut without chocolate (I forgot the actual name it was in Italian)
I've always raved about the gelato at Eataly, but after hearing so many good things about Venchi, I was excited to finally give it a try. We came on a Saturday around 8:40 pm, and there was still a long line, which was a good sign. Venchi is located inside Valley Fair Mall, and the storefront is very eye-catching with its bright colors and elegant displays. There are two separate lines (one for chocolate and one for gelato) but the line moves fairly quickly. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating, and they let us sample up to three flavors before deciding. I highly recommend asking for their favorite flavor combinations because we absolutely loved their recommendation. We ordered a regular cup with nougatine and dark chocolate interior, topped with a scoop of cappuccino and a scoop of hazelnut. LOVE. LOVE. LOVE. It was rich, chocolaty, nutty, and had great texture from the nougatine. Easily a 5/5 and something I would order again. Each gelato order also comes with a piece of chocolate on top, which was a nice touch, though just okay in taste. Overall, this is a great spot for gelato, and I'd definitely recommend stopping by if you're at Valley Fair Mall.
Venchi store in Valley Fair always draws me in even if I'm simply walking by. With the holidays approaching, I could not help but admire the beautify advent calendar they are selling! Gorgeous! I just checked online and three different types are for sale. The one on display is the premium style....of course. More tables and seating areas have been added in front so their patrons can enjoy the gelato and ice creams right away. read more
Venchi is a gelato shop inside Westfield Mall on the second floor. They operate both as a chocolate shop as well as a gelato stand. They get real busy here. In a mall filled with boba shops, this gelato experience stands out so people are here to wait. Ours was about 15 minutes so not too bad. They had a vegan chocolate flavor along with three fruit sorbet flavors. I loved having a regular scoop split with the chocolate and passion fruit flavors, the latter being an incredible pallet cleanser. Both of these were knockouts and I would absolutely come back in the future for another treat if I'm not in the mood for boba (which is rare mind you!) read more
We came by on Sunday and there was a long line so we started to skip it and wait until we came back today during the week in the morning. There was literally nobody else other than me. I tried a single cup of milk chocolate with hazelnut with no gourmet coating inside the cup. It wasn't bad but it certainly not among the best I've had (in Rome, Florence and even Vancouver). The texture of the gelato was smooth enough but it did distinguish itself from just good ice cream. There wasn't any distinctive milk chocolate flavour either. For the price it charges, the somewhat flashy decor, and its circa 1878 history, I was expecting something better. Would I have it again? Probably not. read more
Absolutely delicious Gelato! Definitely a must try treat in Valley Fair Mall. I love that their flavors are different from Eataly. I actually prefer the Gelato flavors and texture at Venchi. Customer service was outstanding. The staff patiently let us try several samples before we made our final selection. The chocolates are delicious too. They're so generous with their portions and samples. My son dropped his Gelato accidentally and they gave him a replacement for free! After seeing huge lines for Venchi every time I go to the mall on the weekends, I finally stopped to try it after seeing no line on a weekday. And honestly.. I don't get the hype. It's good gelato.. but not THAT good. I personally like Eataly's gelato better! The texture of Venchi's gelato is good, but I think the flavors just weren't hitting the spot for me. Since there was no line, I didn't feel bad sampling, and tried maybe 6-7 different flavors (including what the server said were their top hits). They were all just.. ok? The chocolate gelatos were a bit better relative to the other flavors, but still wasn't amazing. Venchi has definitely got a wow factor with their decor though, and it's nice to have that seating area right in front. I can see it being a nice place to sit and enjoy a gelato with your friends, especially under a the huge skylight. I personally likely wouldn't come back here, but wouldn't say it's bad! Standing on its own, I have a neutral view towards Venchi, but with Eataly and Salt & Straw right next door.. I'd probably go there instead. read more

We finally got to try their gelato and it is extremely creamy. The line had about ten people ahead of us and the wait is much longer than most ice cream places as they only had one person serving gelato and one person at the register. They have a few options of cones to select from as well as olive oil and hazelnut drip. We opted for the cone and tried the pistachio, mango, hazelnut, cheese and more! The mango and hazelnut were the best flavors so we got a two flavor scoop of them topped off with a dark chocolate coin. Absolutely delicious~ read more
I got the regular cone with milk hazelnut chocolate inside the bottom of my cone. I tried pistachio and matcha but I loved the matcha a tad bit more. 2 scoops of that please! So delish! Service and wait time went moderately quick. There was a staff member that took everyone's order ahead of time and all we had to do was show the front our receipt & pick our flavors. Up to 3 tasting flavors. Gelato was so smooth. I would come back. read more

Finally got the chance to try this place! It was a long wait for about 15-20 minutes. Very popular place for couples, families, and dessert lovers. Best to sign up for their loyalty program before you buy because they give you a free mini chocolate bar. We got a large bowl for 3 flavors for $9.45. We got tiramisu, cappuccino, and Tuscan cream. All of the flavors were semi-sweet, creamy, and so soft. My family loved sharing the bowl! Great place! read more

I love this place! Every time I go to the mall, I feel like I need to stop here. The gelato is soooooo good! Sometimes the lines are long, but it is always worth the wait. If you like hazelnut, they typically have a few different hazelnut options. One of my favorite flavors is the stracciatella, as well. This place never disappoints. I love Venchi so much! I wish they would open more locations in the Bay Area. This place gets packed, especially on weekends! Weekdays during off-peak hours aren't so bad at all. I prefer to always come at this time. I get the same thing every time I'm here: azteco and mango. I feel like these two flavors go so well together. I love it so much! I always get a cone too. I also tried pistachio and passionfruit. Not bad either! I just prefer the dark chocolate with mango flavor. The staff is really nice and patient with customers trying different flavors. Every time I crave ice cream, I go here. Other section is where you can buy locations. So good as well. read more
We got Chocaviar + cone. It had a lot of darker chocolatey taste, as opposed to the cheaper tasting "chocolate" from other stores. I feel like this is a chocolate store masquerading as a gelato parlor. And that's ok. They have more chocolate/candy stuff on the side. The "stall" is very in-your-face, with the chocolate waterfall behind the bar and the long line covering a quarter of the hallway. Their candy "corner" reminds me of a luxury bag store. It is pricey. Even for bay area standards. I do think the ice cream tastes like it. The service was great too. I went on a very busy weeknight. Amidst the chaos of workers running behind the counter, I felt that I was still served nicely without being rushed by the nice ice cream barista. Will I be coming back for ice cream / gelato? It's kinda hard to with those prices, especially with Maiko nearby. read more
One of our fave gelato places when in Rome. Happy to have stumbled into it while at Valley Fair. Queue was a little long, and that helped when you can't decide on what flavor to taste or try. They let you sample flavors which helps, and it's quite good, but it doesn't top Venchi in Rome or Milan - wouldn't turn it down though when in the states, simply not the same exact taste or experience of course. read more

Date of visit: October 4, 2025 Location: Venchi, Valley Fair Westfield Mall I've been to this Venchi many times and usually had a great experience, but today was really disappointing. I ordered a large cup (3 scoops) of gelato, but the portion I received was noticeably smaller than what other customers were getting. When I asked why, the staff said they had weighed it -- but I watched closely, and they didn't. They just insisted that "three scoops is three scoops," even though it was clearly less than usual. When I tried to report the issue, the employees refused to assist and completely ignored us. It's frustrating to see such inconsistent service and unhelpful staff at a place I used to enjoy. Definitely not the kind of experience I expected from Venchi. read more
I had a very upsetting first experience. The menu while simple was still very confusing. I didn't get the gourmet cone since I didn't know what their grain options were. I ended up getting the crepe and gelato which was a mistake. I'm guessing all the workers are trained to handle all aspects of preparing the orders. I knew it was going to be a bad crepe when I saw the technique. They failed the first attempt, saying the batter was too wet, tossed it out, mixed the batter and tried again. They made the crepe again to their standard. I got a chocolate drizzle in my crepe. I took 1 bite of my crepe and was instantly disappointed. I wished they had a designated crepe person. I ended up being the most happy about my boyfriend's cremino . He also said the chocolate in the crepe was burnt. read more

Venchi is a gelato and chocolate shop on the second floor of Valley Fair mall. Honestly the chocolate isn't that great. If you want great chocolate, go to Laderach. If you want cheap chocolate, go to Sees. But Venchi does have good gelato and an omnipresent line to prove it. The flavors are fantastic no matter what you choose. I usually get the dark chocolate with hazelnut, but today I got the strawberry chocolate chip and the cremino. Both were delicious and the cone was crispy & fresh. There is always a long line but it does move quickly. The service is friendly and patient. That said, there is no real place to sit down and enjoy your ice cream. You kinda need to walk around the mall while it drips down the cone :) read more
Every time I pass by I stop for a second but move on because of the long line but on a late weekday evening, I was able to find no line so I had to try. I love how they ask you to buy first before sampling and picking your flavors. This helps to cut down on folks looking to sample and dash. I opted for a cup and the smallest size comes with up to 2 flavors and a piece of either dark or milk chocolate. I got the chocovair and the passionfruit flavors. The passionfruit was especially refreshing. I also like my chocolate dark hence the 75% cacao in chocovair and the dark chocolate topping. Ultimately it is pricier than most places but worth the splurge. I'll have to find another time I crave this and come again. read more
You know a gelato shop is legit if pistachio is done right. So happy to have a great pistachio gelato place in South Bay. Personally I would only get pistachio, other flavors are good but not special, I.e. you can get same flavor and quality elsewhere without the long wait line. Get that pistachio!!! I had seen a yelp event for Venchi, and was surprised to have seen it at Valley Fair across from Pink pink tea shoppe. I was mesmerized by the illusion of a cascading wall of melting chocolate that incase their name. It was not until my mom sent me a picture of her eating venchi ice cream in Italy, that I was convinced that I needed to try this place. I have been here 3 times now, and the service has been amazing and top notch. I haven't gotten any chocolates from them, and have always gotten their gelato here and nothing else. and their gelato is to dieee for. You start off by paying for what you want and a worker will then guide you to their selections of gelato. and then you can try all the flavors your heart desires! The worker will help with recommendations and questions. The last time I went, he even grabbed a couple flavors that we didnt ask for to see if we would like them, and told us his favorite combos. So far, their pistachio, the dark chocolate, and custard are my top favorites My boyfriend is strictly a vanilla dude (lots of different types of vanillas though), but he loved every flavor we tried here. Although prices have been rising for just about everything these days, I dont mind paying extra for a decadent creamy treat at Venchi. read more
I love Venchi! I've had it less than a handful of times but every time we walk past the location it's the same reaction: "UGH remember the last time we had Venchi? SO GOOD." On the right side of the shop is all ice cream and on the left is where you can purchase chocolate, but the vibe of the shop as a whole is luxe and luxe it very much is. From the texture and taste of the ice cream to the packaging of all the chocolate - very streamlined and on point. I haven't tried the chocolate on its own yet but I hope to in the future! They would make really nice gifts as well. If you don't want to wait in line, highly recommend going at opening. But I will say, the hype is real and the wait is worth it. The staff is super patient - a huge plus since there are so many yummy flavors! I wish they would open more locations across the Bay Area! read more
This ice cream shop is located in Valleyfair and has very long wait times. I waited around 45 minutes to an hour. There's also a separate line to buy the chocolates there. The staff is very friendly and helpful. You can even try samples. I don't think it was worth the wait but the ice cream was very enjoyable. The texture was nice and you can tell that ice cream was good quality. I definitely recommend getting the spread on the cone. I got the chocolate hazelnut flavor with the pistachio flavor. The chocolate hazelnut flavor tasted like a Ferrero rocher. read more
This is a special place for gelato inside Valley Fair Mall! There's only one other US location that offers their gelato but aside from that, my boyfriend and I decided to try some of their chocolates that you can choose to mix in a bag for $13~ per 1/4 pound. They have these tiny mini squares of dark chocolates from 60% - 100% dark which was fun to sample from 100% downwards. I didn't sample every flavor this time around but I will definitely return and purchase more because there's a good variety to choose from. read more

Venchi! Great gelato, longgg line. Ho aspettato troppo lungo..like 20-30 min with only like 15 people in front of me. Staff was kinda slow like watching someone serve in slow motion and it should be one sample per person allowed. Felt like people in line are just trying to get their money's worth but wow just get your gelato and go people. If you can't afford $7 for gelato what are you doing at Valley Fair. Anyway gelato is great so 5 stars. I got Azteco and pistachio in a cup and it was excellent. I'll probably just go to eataly to get theirs in a shorter line next time, but it's good! read more
Come for: honestly any gelato Know that: the wait is LOONNGGG Off the bat, I'll say this is among the best ice cream/gelato in the Bay Area. The texture is velvety smooth. The flavor is rich. And there are so many flavors! The downside - prepare to wait. People are able to sample as many flavors as they want and that makes the line really long and slow. I came on a Friday early afternoon. There were about 7 people ahead of me and I still waited 30 mins. The place is inside Valley Fair on the 2nd level so it will be a bit hectic. When I finally got to the front, I got the pistachio and the tiramisu flavors. Really enjoyed both of them. The waffle cone was also great but a b it sweet for my taste. Pricing is fine but honestly the bigger cost is the wait. I would definitely go again if there were less than 7 people/groups in line but just can't bring myself to spend an hour waiting otherwise. read more
Love the gelato! . I always get the raspberry, the right sweetness and tart. I always pair it with a chocolate or coffee ice cream to balance the flavor out. I got the coffee temptation this time, omg such strong coffee flavor but the best part is that it's not bitter. The decoration is vibrant and pretty with the chocolate waterfall Venchi sign. Definitely come here if you are willing to wait for 30+ minutes. I will come back to try other ice cream flavors. read more

This place doesn't need any more hype as the line for gelato can be an hour long. You can skip the line and just buy the chocolate that's amazing. The chocolate is 5 stars but I didn't think the gelato is worth the wait. I went on a weekday and there was no line for gelato. I come to the mall just for the chocolate! read more
