I was shocked to read all the negative reviews. I've lived in the neighborhood 2 years and Venice has been our go-to for delivery. They offer a little of everything, which means we can accommodate everyone. At the top of the list is the Cheesesteak. And actually, we find we enjoy most of their sandwiches. The sides- fries, rings, mozzarella sticks- are good too. My wife is a wing connoisseur -- and Venice's definitely get a good grade from her. We like the pizza -- but we order it rarely. That has more to do with our personal tastes and inability to agree on crusts and toppings than Venice's quality. One more thing....We order almost exclusively from the Yelp EAT 24 app -- I find that keeps the ordering clean -- no room for mis-heard words or bad handwriting/translating. This place is a hole in the wall that looks like it belongs in downtown Bmore! #1 clue that the food is good. I ended up here one afternoon after working a 12 hour shift and waiting for the cable guy at my guy's new apartment (that has an empty fridge) for 5 hours. So I stumble into Venice Pizza and mumble to the cashier that I want a steak and cheese with everything on it and an order of fries extra crispy, oh, and add a pepsi... The guy taking my order goes "just get the lunch combo" and points to the extrra large sign posted on the wall. "Ok, cool, gimme that" I say. So, I wait, and I wait, and I wait some more as other patrons file in and out to pick up their call ahead take out orders (good idea). 15 minutes later he points to me "your food is ready"... No prob Bob (definitely not the carry out from good ole DC that I'm used to where everything takes "fie minut"). So I was looking on yelp to find good subs in my area and of course this place came highly recommended! I am going to have to agree with other reviews. So far, I've only had the steak and cheese and a slice of cheese pizza. Both were surprisingly good. The sub was flavorful and not too over greasy. The slice of pizza was loaded with cheese and a generous slice for 1.75. The fries are cook a bit too much for me but the portion size is a again generous. I'm in Maryland for work and like to try local places. Found this place by chance and got an antipasto salad. Service was good. Food came out quick. The salad was excellent. Big portion with a lot of meat and plenty of dressing. Tomatoes and cucumbers were especially flavorful. read more

My wife loves their calzone and spaghetti sauce and she's pretty finicky. They are horrible with their delivery service. We could literally walk to their shop and both times we had delivery it took over an hour for the food to reach us. Overall, for a delivery service, I would say the food is above average, but their value is definitely minimized by the delivery times. read more

Every once in a while we order from here just to see if its improved. Unfortunately on our last occasion the pizza was sub-par which is par for the course here. The crust is pretty chewy, not too much sauce and bagged cheese (I'm guessing from the taste). There are many options for pizza in Elkridge, Venice is near the bottom of the list. Ordered take out. First time here. I ordered the spicy Cajun wings with a salad. I received regular spicy Buffalo wings instead. With the wings I ordered the Ranch dressing instead of Blue cheese and when food was delivered, I received nothing. Wings and salad were all standard. We love their pizza here. I'm not trying to compare it to brick oven pizza, but compared to other chains like pizza hut, papa johns, domino's or ledo's, to me, this blows them away. I've been ordering here since I've lived in Elkridge, and when I worked in Linthicum and now Hanover, I would recommend this place to coworkers, or setup a big order when we had company meetings. I've never had a complaint, EVER! In fact, even when I'm not at the office, they now order from here exclusively when it comes to pizza. I'm amazed to see some of the bad reviews about them. Their pizza is good, the service is usually good (in 7 years the messed up 1 order of mine). The place could use some sprucing up but I never eat there so that really doesn't matter to me. This is always my top choice unless I'm looking for a sit down pizza meal, like Bertucci's or Facci's etc.... Highly recommend I hope they stay in business for a long time. The cheese they use is usually what impresses people. I don't like too much sauce on my pizza so that's good for me, and I like a normal thickness crust. I order from this place all the time but the last few times (5 or so) the service and delivery service especially has been horrible! Horrible! I'm still waiting for my order and it has been 1 hour and 15 mins. My order was supposed to be 45 mins. I've called the restaraunt one two occasions when the order was late and was told that the order would be 10 more minutes. I'm about 5 mins away so it's hard to understand why it would take so long. Even with the poor service, the driver had harassed me for a tip! My order finally came 1 hour and 26 mins later. The driver gets to my door and says 'you didn't add the tip'. Ha! And to add insult to injury, my order was wrong. They said they would bring me another pizza....in 30-40 mins. I love this place. I have ordered quite a few times from here. First order of pasta with meat sauce it was delicious. If they could go less on the cheese and more on the pasta it would have been perfect. Cheesesteak w/veggies was delicious. The veggie pizza was the best I have had since moving to MD 14 years ago. Tonight my hisband and I ordered and they messed it up again! Ordered a bacon double cheese burger with swiss cheese, mayo, and onions. Got a double cheese burger with no bacon, onions and american cheese. The fries had CLEARLY been sitting for at least an hour. So I called. The "manager" was out on delivery. I was told to call Eat 24 (the app I used to order) and get my money back. Um.mmm... NO. Eat 24 didnt mess up my order, Venice did. They've been terrible lately. I'm DONE with ordering from them. Upon ordering make sure you ask if they have what your ordering. If they don't they won't say they're out, or don't have it, just ignore it. And as far as customer service goes, when you request something that you ordered and want delivered, the response is "I don't have time, I have to go home." Don't bother asking about what charges were made either. Hello. Went there yesterday. Unclean. People who took order went to the back. Did not wash hands. Did not don gloves and started to pick everything including the toppings with bare hands. After that the girl came right to the counter without washing hands and started to answer calls. Totally unhygienic!!!!!!! They did not have garlic powder. I was a little leery of trying Venice Pizza because you never know what you're going to get with a new pizza joint/sub shop. But given the serious lack of quality food that we have available for delivery and the recommendation from a friend, I decided to try it. We ordered subs the first time and they were better than any other options we have. We have since tried many other things and the pizza is great too. I think the only thing we haven't liked was the boneless wings. It is now our go-to place for delivery.
