Great food and service! I came here for a birthday dinner with a friend and the experience was great. The ambience of the restaurant was very romantic with the lights dimmed. We received a complimentary pita with dips. We ordereda sangria, argula salad and diablo pasta. The waitor kindly offered to divide the portions between the two of us. Sangria tasted a little watered down. Salad and diablo were delicious! I wish the salad had more walnuts and cranberries. The diablo which had chicken and linguini in pink sauce was perfect! Then the owner brought out a cake with a fire cracker candle for my friend even though we didnt even ask for it because we told him that it was her birthday! He was super sweet. Great experience. So happy I finally made it to this restaurant. I met my other 2 co-workers here for drinks and dinner last night and we had a really great time. Service was AWESOME. We hung out at the bar area for about an hour and had drinks before sitting down. Really happy they did not rush us at all. When we were finally ready to have dinner we were seated immediately at the outdoor dining area which is beautiful. We ordered 4 apps to share for dinner: platter of dips, spinach pie, risotto croquettes, and sagnaki. All 4 apps were really good esp the risotto croquettes. Looking forward to my next visit to try out their main courses. oh and of course having valet parking is awesome!! read more

I constantly pass this place driving to Bay Terrace so me and a friend decided to try it out. The first thing that really draws you in is the ambiance. It kind of feels like a resort in Florida, but classy. The menu choices are limited and though it may seem pricey at first, the serving sizes are incredibly large, so everything can be split between two people or more. I've passed this restaurant many many times. It was DELICIOUS! I thought it was a dinky little diner/restaurant. It was actually upscale. The food was exquisitely presented. Our waiter Gregory was on point and did not rush us. We had the whole Branzino. We had the choice of having it deboned but my friend enjoys the challenge. The fish was flaky and tasty. I had the shrimp with mushroom risotto. Delicious. Eating outside on a beautiful summer night was a bonus! We will certainly return. We had calamari and caprese salad for appetizers. I am very disappointed in this place due to their lack of service. It took me awhile just to get someone to take our orders, I should have known that was a bad sign. The crab cake burger tasted very fishy, the regular burger was okay, and the asian noodle salad was deceiving. Everything on the menu is over priced with so little options to choose from. read more

Love the grilled calamari salad here. Wish it wasnt as expensive - $20 for the salad that is listed as an "appetizer." Nonetheless, I continue to return and eat it because it satisfies my taste buds. Update: I occasionally eat at this restaurant but I had a terrible experience with the service that I must take away stars. I was eating a late dinner in a group of 4 and the waiter made it blatantly obvious that he wanted us to hurry up and leave. It was just rude and uncalled for because the restaurant was NOT busy and there was no reason to make us feel rushed. On top of that, they apparently only serve the calamari salad during lunch... it makes absolutely no sense because this random change of menu selection for dinner seems to be dependent on whoever is working that day... one time they told me to order a different salad and just add calamari for an additional price but it tasted terrible. read more

Absolutely amazing! We fawned over every bite. The waitress said, "you must like Greek food." Yes, but this is special. The risotto balls are perfectly soft and seasoned. The octopus was the most tender I've ever had. It's very easy to over or under cook and make it rubbery. Every bite was amazing. Plus, the red onion and capers really add something great. Dined at Veranda on a Sunday evening as we had on a few other occasions. Entrees were the Penne Primavera, Chicken Diablo Pasta, and Wild Mushroom Ravioli. All three were excellent but the Ravioli was closer to an appetizer portion in size than an entree. Dessert was the Blueberry Cheese Cake that was excellent. Overall the kitchen was top notch as it had been on previous visits. But... the service was lacking which was surprising since our waiter was the same waiter from previous visits. On previous visits we ordered the Citrus Chicken and enjoyed it. This time, one of our dining party ordered it and the waiter discouraged her from ordering it saying that it takes "30 minutes blah, blah, blah". We had the dish at least three times in the past and we could have ordered an appetizer to share while we were waiting but the waiter strongly discouraged us from ordering what is probably this restaurant's best dish. Great spot for a large group Birthday Brunch. Despite it being December there was great out door seating. Another women was celebrating her 80th Birthday I'm guessing and she had a large group as well. None the less the noise level was low and I could still hear the light music. Lets talk about the food. The menu had a variety of options which I was well pleased. However, I'm a breakfast type of gyal so I settled for the California Omelette with a side of Canadian bacon. Great food and great service! Our waitress was awesome. She always had a smile on her face and prompt. I was happy that they recognized my birthday and provided me with a complimentary Birthday treat! I want to come back for brunch and the outdoor seating. My first experience was mediocre. Pros: Spacious and great for big groups Huge portions (may not be a good thing if you don't like your food) Nice outdoor area Friendly and prompt service Delicious calamari! Hot, light, crispy, and not greasy. Cons: Food is bland. I went with a large group of friends for lunch, and none of us were impressed with what we ordered. Although there's many more pros than cons, having bad food is quite a problem for a restaurant. It's almost as if they compensate big portions for the dry, tasteless food, hm... The lunch menu is also incredibly limited. Despite my taste buds' disappointment, I'm willing to give this place a second chance. Maybe they're better at brunch. read more

I've been here a couple of times and the food has always been good, but a little too pricey in my opinion. I don't know why it took me so long to write a review for this wonderful restaurant, i am a regular customer here because my mom love western food and there aren't many around Flushing and bayside . This place never failed us. A few week ago I invited my parents and my Uncles and Aunt to have lunch here. They are in their 70's, 80's and 90's. The service was excellent, we had a such great time. Love their lunch , so many choices , great portion and the flavors are so good and consistent . My favor food is grill octopus and spinach pie. Main courses/sides: (1) Steak dishes -- good, cooked to order but went cold reeeal fast. (2) Lamb Shank - overcooked and wayyyy too salty! Desserts were an absolute disappointment! Save your money on this course and go home and enjoy some Happy Cow fat-free ice cream sandwiches over a Law and Order re-run... BATHROOM REVIEW: OMG. The place is huge. Why did they build a women's bathroom with only two stalls? The handicap stall is gigantic obviously but the "normal" stall -- the door pushed in touches the toilet! The place is big and has a lot of room. I waited for my friend inside and ordered a cup of apple juice, and no one else bothered me until my friend arrived 20 minutes after. I appreciated that no one was rushing me, as they do in other places! Our waiter was super polite and checked in on us a fair amount of times, not too annoying but too little. I got the California omelette with mozzarella cheese instead of the cheddar. It tasted really good; I could taste the chunks of avocado they added so it was worth it! I would recommend getting french fries instead of the homefries, though. My friend got the Mediterranean omelette and she liked it as well. We got our leftovers to go. I ate mine 4-5 hours later and it still tasted good! Even the toast! My friend said her leftovers were pretty good too! Husband took me to this place for the first time today. It was a special date for us. We found parking easily right in front. The veranda has a good vibe. You're sitting on their terrace enclosed under the umbrella, greenery and mellow lounge music. When we were seated the wait staff was very attentive to get our drink order and answer any questions we had. I really dug the cream cheese spread they offered for their bread and crackers. Sangria was nicely chilled and fruity. For appetizer we got their octopus and the mini Kobe burgers cooked just right. I had the arugula mango avocado salad as an entree and husband got the spicy shrimp linguine. The salad was a generous portion. There presentation of the good isn't of the typical fancy restaurant standard but that didn't compromise the freshness and flavor. I would come back for a brunch with the full family or friends. Finally came here two weeks ago. I've been driving by this restaurant for years and always wanted to come and I've finally experienced it. This restaurant is really nice it gives a different vibe because of the outdoor seating and the umbrellas. There is a huge wall fountain which gives it a nice feel and the flowers and plants gives it a nice summer feel also. Eating under the stars was a first for me. Came here for Sunday Brunch. It is located right on busy Northern Blvd. but they do a great job of shielding the outdoor area from the street, creating a great outdoor eating area. Tasted the pancakes and a veg omelette which were both well prepared. My favorite dish was the Challah Bread Vanilla French Toast w/ berries. Good flavors, not too sweet and a ton of berries. Staff was very professional and attentive with coffee & water, which is a big plus. Will definently give them another try for dinner out on a nice night. read more

Whether they brought me the wrong dish...another time I ordered a filet mission rare and they brought it to me well, welllll done..I did not complain but it's not how I enjoy steak. Another time we went for the brunch special and for whatever reason our waiter so extremely slow with our order..literally we sat down when they opened at noon and didn't get out of there until 2:40 p.m. because it took about an hour (not even kidding...) to get our food to us. They didn't have a full house that day so we were slightly annoyed but we were in good company so we didn't complain..however better service would make this place 5 stars. Went last Saturday night 2/18/17 with a party of 6 to celebrate a birthday. The food was extraordinary. A few of us ordered the grilled lamb chops that were so tender and flavorful garnished with lemon potatoes and asparagus. The filet mignon was prepared exactly the way my family wanted it. They said it was flavorful, good quality, and a mouth watering sensation with each forkful. I must mention one particular apetitizer that I recommend 200%! THE ZUCCHINI CHIPS! They were thin, light, crispy and presented in a dish fit for a king. This is a must! I wanted to take a picture, but my guests "inhaled" them so I had nothing to photograph. The service was impeccable. Everyone there was extremely attentive. Especially when one of our guests spilled a full glass of water all over the table. They handled the situation with poise and grace. They also surprised us with a birthday celebration spread and sang for us. Thank you employees of VERANDA. Went to this place for desert on a Saturday night (~9pm) after having Korean food for dinner. It was easy finding street parking. The staff was very attentive and helpful with explaining dishes and fulfilling requests. They were on hand when requested and quietly in the background when not. Though the street view isn't the greatest the restaurant is clean (including the bathrooms) and we were able to have a fun night chitchatting and enjoying ourselves. I had an ecmek (I think is what it was called) which is Greek baklava with a mix of whipped cream and pastry cream on top which is then topped with walnuts pieces and almond slices. Unforgivable sin! It was delicious though, in my opinion, a bit sweet towards the back where more of the syrup from the baklava had settled on the bottom of the pastry. I came here for lunch with my family and I was not happy. The venue itself was nice, I like the outdoor space. I also got sweet potato fries that I liked, and that's about where the positives end. We ordered fried calamari as an appetizer and when the waitress brought it out I thought it smelled but I wasn't sure if it was a bad smell or a typical calamari smell. I took one bite and knew right away the calamari was not fresh. The maitre d or whoever manager guy comes out and asked what's the problem, but it felt confrontational. I told him the calamari wasn't fresh and he immediately denied it (expected) and then proceeded to tell me that it was ok if I didn't like it and it wasn't my taste, and he will try it himself to prove it's fresh. He takes the plate away and then comes back saying the chef tried it and said it was fine (of course he would) and again said it was fine if I didn't like it and it wasn't my taste. I was annoyed more that this guy kept insisting, in a very condescending tone, that the calamari was not my taste. He just acted like I have no clue what I'm talking about rather than assuming any responsibility for the quality of the food. Even if he didn't want to acknowledge the calamari wasn't fresh, he could've simply apologized and let it be. As far as the rest of the food, I got the Veranda burger which was OK and my mom got the salmon which she said was good. My sister met up with us and we ordered her the steak sandwich, which had cooled down by the time she got to it. She said it would have been better if she had it while it was hot so take that as you will. This was my second time here and I remember not being too thrilled with it the first time I came here either. In my opinion it's overpriced for the both the quality of the food they serve and the area it's located in. There are definitely better options in the area with staff that won't talk down to you. This place barely makes it into three star territory. I came here with my girlfriend last night after reading about it on people's Facebook statuses. The restaurant itself looks like a fancy Bayside Diner, which is just down the block. The first problem is that their website has an outdated menu. My girlfriend was eager to try the chicken burger, but was told by the waitress that they haven't made that in awhile. She ended up getting the Low Calorie Caesar Salad with chicken. I got the Diablo, which is linguine with spicy tomato sauce severed over a thin slice of grilled chicken with melted mozzarella. We also shared Calamari as an appetizer. Calamari - It was pretty damn good. It was cooked well and had a nice flavor to it. My only suggestion is to ask for marinara sauce instead of the 'Cajun' sauce, which was really honey mustard. This helped push this place to a three star restaurant for me. Diablo - It was okay. Nothing to write home about. I've been spoiled by the great pasta served at a certain restaurant in Whitestone. Low Calorie Caesar Salad with Chicken - Awful. Not low calorie in any sense of the word. The chicken was dry and everything else in the salad was bad. May too much dressing and way too cheesy for a low calorie salad. It was almost swimming in a sauce of Caesar dressing and cheese. I love me some cheese, but this will make you nauseous. Besides the Calamari, the only other thing that gets this place three stars was the free pita served as we waited to put down our order. The pita is served with a side of humus and some seasoned feta in olive oil. I rather eat that again then my main course. Not much else to say. The waitress was good, but she was waiting to many tables. I think she was covering at least half the tables inside the restaurant. So I don't blame her when it took 10 minutes to get our check. I was surprised how mediocre this place ended up being. It could have been a lot better. But I don't think many share my opinion on this place as it does it get very close to being packed. He did a nice job, coffee was a little water down, too much ice or cheap coffee? Anyway, I walk in, and this place was huge. I was a bit taken when we walked in and saw huge wine bottles as displays on the table. That was kind of tacky if you ask me. I ordered the eggs Benedict and my friend had the omelette. I think her eggs was over cooked with no seasoning and which my eggs was pouched nicely, the hollandaise sauce was really dense and lack of seasoning. I like my hollandaise sauce airy. Had the appiteaser Kobe burgers as a main course (to die for with cheddar and onions) with the blue cheese salad and the only regret I have is that I didn't ask to meet the chef.
