Our server Taylor was very kind, fun to talk to and ensured we had everything we needed. She truly made our experience special. The orange crush was great and the crab cake sandwich was very good. The star was the blackened ahi tuna. It was so good we ordered two of them as an appetizer. My friend had shrimp tacos, they were huge. She said they were really good. vera's is not open.... been trying to get a liquor liscense apparently havent gotten one. They have no website. If you call their phone number you get a recording from May that they will update on their progress which is nil....also their mailbox is full. If they ever open please do yourself a favor and wait at least a year before visiting. If they stay open that long....or they may never open. read more

Food 10/10 specifically the crab cake dinner , hush puppies w/ crab , & mocktails . I wasn't crazy about the fries that came with the crab cake dinner but the slaw was VERY good. This is no longer VERA'S this is Sunset Creek ! Absolutely the worst - my order was a haddock po boy and a side of coleslaw. Po Boy it was NOT, 1 Mediocre piece ONE of unseasoned filet on a cheap sub roll, does not make a PO BOY. the coleslaw was RANCID, it tasted like spoiled crabs, I spit it out as it hit my tongue, it made my tongue tingle for almost 30 minutes later. The food portions were big and everything we ordered was really good. Also have to shout out the bartender--super cool and easy to talk to. This restaurant is permanently closed. All signs have been removed and Vera's old sign have been put back up. No one really knows what's going on there. You ask the ones that use to work there, they said we were just told we're out of business.. Still NO FUEL or working pumps at the marina and NO nothing. We came here on a Friday afternoon for lunch. We sat outside under the covered back deck. We had beautiful views of the creek. Our waitress was helpful and friendly. She got our drinks right away and was able to answer our questions about the menu. The crabs we ordered were a nice size and served steaming hot. The apps and sandwiches were also served hot and tasted really good. We were really impressed. We will be back and also recommend to anyone looking for a nice meal on the water. read more

have been going to Vera's for many years...i remember Vera. it is still a lovely setting but the food is not very good. Ordered salmon with pesto and sides of green beans and salad. Salmon was dry - looked as though it had been sitting under a heat lamp for a couple of hours - green beans were cooked to mush. One of our party ordered house cabernet- $11 for a very stingy pour. Salads were very good and wings also good. Vera's still has those Adirondack chairs at all outside tables. very uncomfortably for eating Had to perch on edge of chair to reach table. Well if it were not for the crab balls and the music it would have been 1 Star I understand that it gets busy and things get slow when the place is packed and then there is only 1 bartender but I saw plenty of people that could have been helping her out to get service moving. I ordered a appetizer Crab balls the same time I ordered my wife's drink. A few min. later I looked over and she is doing shots with 5 other people good thing it's not my restaurant she wouldn't be working for me and more. Just because you work at a bar doesn't make it ok to drink on the JOB. So then 45 min. go by and still no crab balls so I asked about them she looked at me said oh I forgot to order them so I said I'll want them I said yes so she finally put in the order I was chef her and 30 min later they came out. She didn't take long to get our check to us. The crab balls were very good they had mostly crab meat very little filler out of the three balls only had 2 shells. The brinks were also great wife said the cherry lemonade drink was good better than the one she had last Sunday and the strawberry lemonade drink was also good. They need a manager that does managing NO walking around talking to friends or just the locals that come in everyday. Why have two bars in the restaurant the place isn't big enough for two of them. Take the bar out and put in a long table people can stand around or have bar stools at but can put there drinks on while they dance and talk or put in a few more high top tables. read more

Local hub for White Sands - flatbreads are great and service is friendly. Beautiful views from patio.

We've been coming here for a decade and the place has seen a lot of changes. Under new new management, it's no longer got that summer tiki bar vibe and there have been no live bands here for two years since the pandemic started. That said, the beautiful views are still here and the food is good and well priced. Huge and fresh oysters on the half shell for $1.50 apiece for example, and fresh squeezed orange crushes are still a bargain. I had great snow crab clusters today and will be back for blue crabs when they are in season. I hope they bring back the beach/live music this summer but it's not clear that is on the agenda. read more

Disappointing visit. Went there with 7 of us, intending to order drinks, appetizers and dinner. Drinks were subpar (mermaid water that was green, cherry lime crush that tasted nothing like a cherry lime crush, shark bite that was in a smaller cup than the rest of our cocktails). Ordered appetizers; they were small and expensive. The street corn dip was excellent but literally came in a 3-4" bowl with 15 nachos and was $17. Similar for the crab dip. Menu was limited and overall expensive as well. We didn't stay, went elsewhere for dinner. Total bill for two beers, three cocktails, a glass of wine, a soda, corn dip and crab dip was $95. Was excited to see they reopened but won't be back. read more

I haven't eaten there in a long time but recently had dinner there. The food was really good. I wasn't particularly happy that we had to sit inside because of a large party on the deck. Also there were musicians setting up and practicing which made it hard to relax and hear. I would go back for the pork nachos and the smash burger. read more

Food was gross, it had definitely been microwaved. The place is big and empty, there are too many staff, people just stare while you eat. We were almost immediately ill. Worst place ever. I ordered crab cake dinner. Mostly mayonnaise and no flavor had to keep adding lemon and salt. Pickled beets were ice cold and came from a can the grilled zucchini at least had some flavor but could tell they were frozen at 1 point. I had to come home and eat a pb&j as I was still hungry. I'm visiting in the area and really wanted to try the restaurant for lunch/dinner. On YELP site it stated that the restaurant was open seven days a week. I called the restaurant and no one answered. I then went on the restaurant's website and eventually found out that the restaurant is only open Friday, Saturdays and Sunday. I really wish that they had updated their hours of operation on YELP. We went on a Saturday afternoon for a quiet, late lunch for my spouse's birthday. There were only 2 other tables. We were sat and greeted immediately by our server, Colton. His service was flawless. I was a server, bartender, manager and general manager in the industry for 23 years so I have a pretty good idea of flawless service! The drinks, food, pre-bussing, attentiveness (without being intrusive which can be a delicate balance) was exactly what was called for given the business level. The dining room was VERY clean. Food presentation was appropriate for our orders. Utensils, glasses, and plates were clean and well maintained. The music choice and volume level was appropriate for the environment and time of day. Tried this place a couple of times in the span of two summers. First visit was drinks on the beach. There weren't many people there around lunchtime, so we walked up the hill to order food to bring down to the beach. It took over an hour for them to prepare 8-10 meals and none of them were done correctly. They weren't special orders or requests, they just didn't include a side, or a topping or a sauce. We ended up making a few more trips up the hill to the restaurant to sort it out. My second visit was a group of four out on the deck. Most of the deck tables were full, but nobody was dining inside. The service was ridiculously slow. Buffalo chicken wrap for $14.00. Nuff said. read more

Walk into what is now known as Vera's Beach Club and what you'll find is a nice little restaurant on the water that's got average food, (apps, salads, sandwiches, a little surf, a little turf, and a few obligatory desserts). They have all you can eat crab leg Fridays, Prime Rib Saturdays, and they even do breakfast. But if that's all you notice, you'll be missing the rich history of Vera's which has been a landmark in Lusby since the early 1950's when Vera and her husband originally purchased the property. If you were lucky enough visit what was formerly known as Vera's "White Sands" anytime between 1960 when it was originally opened as a Polynesian themed private yacht club and then in the 1970's when it was opened to the public until 2007, you would have undoubted had the pleasure of seeing Vera herself, dressed like a starlet from Hollywood's golden era, bejeweled, gliding elegantly through the restaurant and bar areas greeting guests, and ultimately settling in at the far corner of the thatched roof tiki bar with her favorite gin martini in hand . After Vera's passing at the age of 92 on Jan 23rd of 2007 her little slice of paradise reopened under new ownership as simply Vera's Beach Club. Although the new owners did leave some of Vera's South Pacific inspired collectables in and around the property, it's definitely become more of a Southern Maryland version of Red Eyes dock bar now, complete with live music concerts, bikini contests, and a haven for local biker crowds. A business has to make a profit, and keeping Vera's a post WWII Polynesian themed time capsule alive might have been a tough sell in 2014... But when I walk in to Vera's now and take a seat at the far end of the bar with my gin martini, dry, with 2 olives, and I look up at her usual 5:00 entrance time... I still half expect to see Vera's wisps of long silver hair and a flowing robe coming around the corner to greet everyone with a frail handshake and a smile... read more

How do I sum this up? Well for starters, we floated up to Veras on the boat, great access. Went inside for lunch, during the pandemic, and it was awful. Our waitress wasn't wearing a mask, the girl who brought us our food wasn't wearing a mask, tables weren't distanced. Overall, they were not practicing social distancing or following the states guidelines used to keep us safe. I was seriously concerned about eating or drinking anything. Our friend ordered the Orange Crush and it had gnats in it, so he sent it back and the seco d one had gnats in it, and for a third time, same results. I will not go back and I suggest you heed the advice of many on here and don't go. read more

I ate there yesterday the food was good and our waitress was nice.she wore a mask. However 50% of the staff didn't wear a mask including waitresses,bartenders (none of them) or any of the staff cleaning the tables wore PPE. Many of the customers didn't either coming in or out of the restaurant. We had to wait 30 min to order our food because the kitchen was backed up. I will not go back. They are not following the state requirements not even seating people 6ft apart of at 50%.I don't think they care. read more

Shit service and no food for two hours are not made up by the location of the place. It took 25 minutes to get the menus to us, 1h and 10 mins(40 minutes from ordering) for the kid's food to come and the adults food never came out after 2 hours(1h10m after ordering) of being at this place. The kids Mac and cheese was stone cold the nuggets and the fries were ok. The staff was rude as well. There were 4 tables that came after us that got their food and left before us. The restaurant was so damn petty that charged us the $23 for the kid's food right after we told them that this wait was unacceptable and requested to leave. I have never left a restaurant before in my life. This place needs to close down. read more
