My first experience with this restaurant was pretty good, I had the Armenian Pizza which was delightful. I was going for surgery the next day so I thought it would be the perfect place as we needed a good quick meal, I thought it was safe to order the same thing I had ordered previously. I ordered the Armenian Pizza with sliced tomatoes, rather than sauce and a Hawaiian Pizza, as I had the first time. The delivery person was involved in an accident on the way here....which was not a problem, the problem was the Pizza ... it was horrible. There was almost no toppings on the Armenian Pizza, and the tomato slices were so dried out they looked like sun dried tomatoes. The Hawaiian Pizza was good not great....I called the store and spoke with a young lady who advised me she was sorry I was unhappy, but not interested in making any amends for the horrible food. Ordered a large, two topping pizza from Verdugo Pizza. Their banner outside their restaurant says "$11.99 for a large 1 topping pizza, $2 for topping". The price of a two topping pizza to any rational person should then be $13.99. They had the audacity to charge me $22 for the pizza. They claimed that the price on their sign only applies to one topping. Then what the hell does the $2 apply to???? Blatantly false advertising. Will never go back there. Amazing pizza I've ordered twice already and I'm so happy. Got the Armenian pizza both times it's absolutely amazing and I asked for a extra thin crust and they didn't disappoint. I also got fries, cheese sticks, hot wings and the Italian supreme pizza I think it's called the one with everything on it and even requested this on a tin crust and they did that as well. The food was ready to go about 15 minutes sooner than expected. Had the cauliflower crust buffalo chicken pizza. This pizza place is delicious, I came here with a friend, and ordered the spaghetti and meat sauce, with the Alfredo sauce. I mixed it up together, and it turned out to be a really delicious entrée. They have the best Garlic bread, and they have the best cheeses. I wanted to try the calzone, but I was so stuffed with the spaghetti and meatballs that I had. They have a variety of options on the menu, and I'm really grateful that I got to try out their delicious food. read more

Honestly the people that are reviewing this place need to come to their senses. The chicken wings are chewy and practically inedible. The pizza was almost as chewy but still pretty decent until you got to the crust so I will give a 2nd star for that. We order delivery via the yelp app and often get one or two pizza's. They come out tasting good. The crust is thin and crispy on the bottom/chewy on the inside, if you like your crust like that. Food - fantastic. I got pasta and i have no complaints. I havent had the pizza so I camt comment on that. Delivery service - bad, that's unfortunately why I give this place 3 stars. I got a 10 minute lecture from one of the drivers about how I didn't tip enough. Apparently "people in this area tip $5 minimum regardless of what they purchase." He also told me that the drivers are fighting over the largest order size and that small orders no one wants to deliver. In other words, he didn't want to deliver my food and neither did anyone else. He ranted about how the owner doesn't pay them anything additional for wear and tear on the car (which I'm not saying he should) but this was the exent of our conversation. In his defense & full transparency - I ordered a $13 meal and tiped $2. So you be the judge on if you think that's fair. In my defense - I'm one person on a friday night, staying in, who didn't want to cook. I wanted something cheap and easy and that's where I found it. I'm not rich, why pay an arm and a leg if I don't have to. If it doesn't make business sense to deliver a meal of that size then set a delivery minimum and charge a delivery fee and I would gladly pay it. This time I only ordered $13 but maybe next time it would have been $20 or $50 or multiple times a week. I just moved in and there are many pizza places nearby. I'm trying to find consistant places to eat and unfortunately, although the food is good, I'm now hesitant to order because I'm nervous my order isn't good enough and who knows what the consequences are :/. I had a 2 slice pizza combo that came with a canned drink and a side salad. It did not disappoint! The two slices were cut to 4 and man I had it for dine in and i had to have to go cuz the slices were bigger than I anticipated. The crust is right the ingredients good. I really like this place! After the experience I had with this place, I had to write a review. I could have sworn that I saw one of their advertisements on the gate of my place and read that they delivered to Highland Park. So I decided to give them a call. When I did, I still double checked and asked the man if they delivered to Highland Park. He told me that they didn't, but that he was going to check. That was fine with me, I was already on Yelp looking for other places that delivered besides Pizza Hut. He got back online and told me that he was going to do it today, but he wasn't sure if they were still going to do it. I totally wasn't expecting that. Most places wouldn't do that! In my opinion, that's great, no EXCELLENT customer service!!! On to the food. We ordered the Verdugo Special: one large pizza, one large salad, and 8pc chicken wings. My friend and I were not disappointed. The pizza was very good. It was not greasy like most places and the sauce was great. We got the spinach salad. It had mozzarella, bell peppers, and a side of italian dressing. It too tasted great! The wings were very delicious with just the right touch of spicy. These guys just can't get their shit together. We placed an order through MyPizza.com, which is how Verdugo handles their online orders. We never got a confirmation order, so we paused our movie and called Verdugo to check on the order. They gave us some weird runaround, badmouthed mypizza.com, and said they'd check the fax machine to see if our order had come in. THIS IS 20 MINUTES AFTER WE PLACED THE ORDER. Then we call mypizza.com and they proceed to badmouth Verdugo. They assure us they will call and place the order on the phone for us, which they do. An hour later, some dude shows up and drops off our food. Well, actually, it was not our food. It was someone else's food. My wife calls Verdugo back, explains the situation and asks how they'd like to make it right. The guy on the phone says--to my wife--"Fuck you, motherfucker". No joke. I tried their delivery service and was happy with the outcome. I ordered a Pepperoni Pizza, Fettuccine Alfredo Pasta and a Caesar Salad. Pepperoni Pizza was really good, the ingredients were fresh and the crust was really crispy. The Pasta was really good, not great, but it was above average that is for sure, the Caesar salad was good too, it was crispy and yummy.. Been coming here with my family for quite awhile now and I must say it's about Time I write a review. Every time I come here I'm just so amazed at how the food is made here. The Italian salad is the best tasting Italian salad I've ever tasted because of its house made dressing! It's made from scratch. I've been getting their pastas too, and I must say they are delish! I was in the middle of an Iron Man/Iron Man 2 marathon with a friend and that scene when Jeff Bridges brings Robert Downey Jr pizza from New York came on and we both looked at each other and instantly knew we needed to order pizza. Neither of us wanted Pizza Hut or Dominoes, so he broke out his to-go menus -one of them was for Verdugo. There were so many menu items, and we were so hungry that it took us a few minutes to actually pick out which pizza sounded the best. We ended up deciding on the XL 18" Verdugo Pizza for $18.99. Chicken, pepperoni, onions, garlic, basil and feta cheese! Wow, it was so delicious and the pie was HUGE!!! The chicken was a little dry but the spices on the pepperoni made up for it! The combo of feta and basil was really intriguing -sort of like the love child of a Mediterranean and Italian pizza. The crust was perfectly crispy, but the weight of the toppings tipped the scale of the thin crust, so it was hard to hold onto the slice without a few feta crumble casualties flying into my lap. The heat of the pizza wilted the basil down to a cooked spinach consistency, but surprisingly enough, I was into it. In fact I ate so much so fast that I made myself sick..... I noticed the other reviews complaining about the wait time. They said it was going to be 40 minutes, and it arrived in 40 minutes. Not much else to comment on that except delivery is free with only a $10 order. The menu has so much to pick from that you could order something new everyday and not get tired of this place! I'm especially interested in the variety of salads on the menu! The Antipasto salad sounds yummy, and so does the chicken pesto and chicken Gorgonzola salads! Pizza, sandwiches, pasta (ravioli, lasagna, tortellini), salad, chicken wings, shrimp, mozzarella sticks, onion rings, fries, cheesecake, mousse and tiramisu are just a handful of menu items that peaked my interest. Sunday night and I decided to expand my horizons on Pizza places. Casting the Dominos aside, I used EAT24's app to find somewhere new and I came across Verdugo Pizza. Yelp reviews looked great. The pictures of the pizza's looked delicious. What could go wrong?! well... EAT24 notified me that the restaurant had confirmed the order. It told me that it would take 45-60 mins; then it started the timer. Perfect. Time to catch up on my shows, let a bottle of wine breath (always a good way to 'classy' up your pizza) and kill some time. 45 mins later the show is over and no pizza..but it could be an hour so I pressed play on another episode. Another show over and I remembered that I'd ordered some food... I tried to give the location a call, but I'm greeted with a message that the establishment is closed!! Odd. Did I get the time wrong? Why didn't the app tell me? I checked Yelp to confirm their hours and it said they're open til 10. Well..the pizza was ok. It wasnt cold after the wait. More expensive than the bigger chains. The toppings were fresh and it wasnt overly greasy. Just a real shame about the service. So I ordered from this place. Pick up. I got a chicken pizza. If thats what you wanna call it. What I got was a sorry looking pizza. The chicken didn't even look like chicken. They were so tiny diced they were the size of onion pieces. What made it worse there was about 3 per slice!... might as well just have called it cheese pizza. Too bad. I've had nothing but bad luck with this place, which is a shame, because it's right in our neighborhood. First time, I placed an online order via Seamless, but got no confirmation, so called them, and they never picked up and my order never came. So then I had to deal with getting a refund from Seamless because Verdugo was closed. The second time, I used Mypizza and I didn't get a confirmation for 20 minutes. I called them, they said that Verdugo is having problems with their fax machine and isn't getting orders, and they don't pick up the phone when they're busy, so they have no way to reach them. It sounded like they had a beef with each other, which isn't my problem, I just want to know if I'll be getting the food I ordered or not. After several calls to both, it sounds like they got my order and everything's fine. Except, when I received the order, it was completely the wrong order. (Filled with meat, and I'm a vegetarian). Also the pizza isn't that great, even Domino's is better, and their online ordering works and is always correct. So screw Verdugo. read more

When it comes to pizza I've always thought Dominos was the best. Well if you were like me, you couldn't be any more wrong. This place is a very small restaurant that always seems to be super hot inside. But that doesn't stop them from receiving 5 stars. Every time I call and make an order, they say "ok, it'll be ready in 10-20 minutes" and they're never late. I'm guessing that this is a family owned company, and therefore all they truly care about is customer satisfaction. Anything you order here will be amazing. My tip to you, try the Armenian pizza.
