we had dinner yesterday at Vergina. we had reservations for quite sometime but when we got there our party of 5 was shoehorned in to a table that was clearly for 4. when I asked for another table the host was quite rude. additionally the food with the exception of the appetizers was bland all around. the servers also kept giving the food to the wrong tables. all around an awful experience. we should have known better since the last time we ate there 3 of the members of our group got food poisoning. I would love to leave a review for the food but I can't. We were seated outside and waited for at least 15 minutes and not once did someone come by to acknowledge us. We noticed the tables around sitting with dirty dishes and no server for awhile. It would have made a difference if we're had just acknowledged- lucky for us they didn't come over and we left and ended up dining at Cafe Milano where the service and food was delightful...ended up leaving my sunglasses on the table after we left.. when I went back and asked the hostess if any glasses were turned in - she said no so I went back to our table and there they were- along with our menus.. untouched and unnoticed...just like your customers... save your money .. go to cafe Milano!! read more

The atmosphere is upscale casual and the food is delicious! They are doing all that they can regarding COVID-19 protections; as they are all masked up, require their patrons to mask up and are socially distancing. Went for lunch Saturday , August 14th at 3PM. Food was good. Upon arrival took 5min for the hostess to decide witch table to give us. It was raining and she put us on a table next to a retractable awning, to our surprise she than raised the awning and we started to get rained on. I stood up, looked at her waiting for some reaction and asking if we could move to another table. She kept staring at me like I was crazy. We went here for the lunch special. I got a meatball sandwich which was fantastic & came with a side of delicious pasta salad. Will get that again. My husband got the pasta carbonara. Oh my goodness it was so delicious! We didn't even expect bread having gotten the inexpensive (for 5th Avenue) lunch special but we received a basket & it was the best & came with herbed olive oil. Seated outside near but not in the sidewalk was a perfect atmosphere for an afternoon lunch. Great place!! We returned here this year & the service is horrible. They act very snooty. The bar is the worst, a girl who says she has only worked the a week or 2 does nothing but chat with other employees. She will look right at your empty glass & go on talking to the other bartender about places she's been & purchases that she has made. Nice restaurant on 5th avenue with mostly Italian food. Our waitress was foreign (most of them seemed to be) and she was mostly knowledgeable but not entirely so that made the ordering process a little tricky. My dad had their spaghetti and meatballs but the noodles were really large in comparison to what spaghetti should be which was weird. I had the seafood with rice plate and it was really good except the calamari was really chewy but I guess that's how it's supposed to be? read more

Just a so so meal. The meat and cheese board was huge but actually a little too big for an appetizer. Ave salad was skimpy. Mostly lettuce for $15.00. Stay away! You've been warned!... went for dinner on a Saturday night (5 people). I ordered the pizza traditionale, would have been better stopping at your local grocery store because it was disgusting, obviously frozen, brought barely warm and no flavour, crust was rock solid. My friends veal dish was cold, they took it back and brought it in 2 mins, same plate, got warmed in the microwave. The place looks very nice, but do NOT go there expecting good food, i tried the meatballs, veal, ravioli and my pizza, none were good. After swearing off Vergina for a similar experience as stated below our family was in town and they wanted to go and convinced us to give it another shot. We arrive before 10pm and the hostess indicated we couldn't do hookah we understood and asked if we could be sat at a table to have dessert first and when a table opened up outside for hookah she could move us. She agreed and we ran up a $100+ dessert bill with a great waiter. We paid and the hostess moved us to a new table outside. We sat down and the waiter came over and IT WAS THE SAME WAITER AS PART 1 of this review. I did not say anything but the first words out of his mouth were "You can't do hookah here there are people still eating at the table next to you". So I started to get upset and said off the cuff that the restaurant really needs to figure out its hookah situation. He shook his head and said he didn't know what to tell us. I said ok where do we need to move and he moves us to the table behind the original table still near the people who were still eating dinner....So we order the hookah and the waiter walks away not taking a drink order nothing. So he comes back and my brother was the only one asked if he wanted a drink (there were 4 of us). He ordered a vodka soda with lime. 15 minutes later the 1 drink comes out and comes without lime. My brother kindly says when you have a minute can you grab me a lime. Instead of saying yeah or ill grab one he says you didn't want a lime. 5 minutes later he gets the lime. The hookah comes out from another person and the waiter is not seen for the rest of the night UNTIL he drops off the check to our table (without us asking for it or asking us if we were done). At this point we were just looking to get out of the place my brother picks up the check and reviews the bill. HERE IS WHERE YOU NEED TO PAY ATTENTION IF YOU ARE THINKING ABOUT GOING HERE... The bill had a 18% gratuity put on the bill. The dessert bill earlier did not. So at this point this new waiter had gone and added this to the bill. After the horrible service we did not think the waiter deserved any tip what so ever (keep in mind the first waiter we gave 25% too). When my brother confronted the waiter the waiter indicated that and I quote "After 10pm people usually have to much to drink in order to tip so I add it on there" Despite this being fraud he was openly admitting to taking advantage of people who were drunk. He then proceeded to talk down to my brother and refused to remove the gratuity off the bill. The manager finally got involved and resolved the issue. This is hands down the worst restaurant experience on 5th ave. I am going to give the benefit of the doubt and believe that this is an isolated issue with this one waiter but he should be relieved from this restaurant immediately as he posses a serious liability to this restaurant if he is committing credit card fraud. I always tip 20% if not more no matter where I go and no matter how drunk I am or not am but tipping is a choice not a mandate unless specifically stated on the menu (which its not) or advised prior to ordering. This owner really should be ashamed of this operation. read more

I ordered mussels and shrimp scampi. They were not good. a disgusting corn starch sauce on both with raw tomatoes. The mussels were raw. Spaghetti and meatballs my husband got also not good. Quick courteous service though. read more

Really good brunch time this morning. Nice ambient and nice waiter. We got brunch plates for under $10 and cheap brunch cocktails. We got complementary sparkling wine because we had two birthdays in the table. The only thing is that I had to ask for refills a few times it wasn't as automatic and because we were sitting outside we couldn't really get our waiter's attention often. read more

Very bad experience. Our server Heiki, was so disgustingly rude. She scolded us for having our menus touching the table before any food was served and demanded that i hand it over before I even got to choose what I wanted. I was so confused as I've never heard that "rule" before, and all surrounding tables had their menus on the table while viewing them. I didn't mind the request, despite finding it a little odd, but there is a way to talk to people and that was not it. I then politely asked one of the bussers to send the manager over so I could explain the situation and request another server since Heiki made us extremely uncomfortable. He did not know how to speak to customers and it seemed like it was his first night on the job. He told me the reason why I shouldn't put my menu on the table was so it didn't get dirty. Understandable, I guess, but that wasn't my issue, the issue I had was being treated like garbage, (and there was no food served yet) he said he would get us another server & did not, and completely ignored us the rest of the night. I was really excited to try this place but the way we were treated was so unbelievably rude. And the food was average. This is the first time I have EVER tipped below 20%. Valentine's Day Disaster, the Management and Ownership should be embarrassed! I'll start at the beginning: 1. Really long and unnecessary wait at the host stand to check in for reservation. 2.During our two hour long meal service: 1 dropped plate of food onto a patron, 1 dropped full glass onto the floor (broken), 1 cotton candy almost burned down a table, and 1 full bottle of sparkling water smashed on the floor. 3. All of the tables (including ours) were so off balance plates and glasses would topple if you did not keep a foot on the leg of the table. 4. The above could have been addressed if the server was anywhere available to assist, but no! The service staff were ill prepared and were totally unavailable for anything other than taking your order---forget that 2nd glass of wine. 5. We became best of friends with both tables on either side of our table since we were literally 3" between table tops. 6. The food was GFS banquet food. Not exaggerating. The veal piccata was a gelatinous goop of brown gravy + lemon juice + capers. I eat better piccata in my workplace cafeteria, at least it comes out warm. 7. Oh and this cold banquet food took 2 hours to serve. read more

Vergina's happy hour is one of the best on 5th. Their menu is 1/2 price from 3pm - 5pm in the bar. The atmosphere is upscale without being pretentious, and seating is comfortable. I highly recommend the wedge salad, wagyu meatballs and lasagna. Last night we had Jason as our server. He was knowledgeable, personable and went above and beyond to ensure everyone in our party had what they needed. read more

First off the food was delicious...when it arrived. The service here is one of the worst in Naples. We had a very old senile waiter named Jose who practically forgot our order. It was like a SNL skit. He forgot our drinks , our appetizers I had to keep reminding him about our orders. The best (sarcasm) was when he asked if we wanted desert and we said yes and he said what do you want?... Now my psychic abilities weren't great that day and I said well can we have a menu? Then it became even more embarrassing when I asked for Port with my dessert and he was literally from the alcove where the register was yelling to me the description and prices even though they only had two options instead of walking over with a menu or just telling me at my table. It also doesn't help that this very old human smelled like alcohol. We spent over $230 and this was lunch. Not to mention we almost left since the hostess with an accent in the red dress didn't appear for a very long time but came running over from the bar as we were turning to leave. There is plenty of wonderful Italian restaurants here in Naples. We live here we are not visiting so trust me when I recommend you go elsewhere unless you have five years to spend waiting. read more

This is my first time in Naples. After walking around I decided to choose this restaurant because I saw that they have Grilled octopus. It is excellent. After that I ordered Clams Oreganata and I wasn't really happy with that dish. My server Dejan was very nice to offer me something else and I change if for Burata and prsuto. It was very tasty. I gave it 5 stars because of my server- he was very professional, informed about food and made all my experience 5 stars. Dejan thank you. I will be back to this restaurant. read more
