The ABSOLUTE worst customer service I have ever seen, and that is saying a lot! While my new phone was updating the guy who was helping me said I should go home and let it finish on my home wi-fi as it would be faster. He said my new phone was activated and all I had to do was wait for the download to finish and I would be good... WRONG. I get home, finish the download and receive a call on my old phone. I then had to figure out how to activate my new phone. I call the number on the receipt, sit through 5 minutes of prompts and the woman says it's weird they didn't activate it in store. She activates it, my old phone cuts out, and my new phone does nothing. I had to google what happens next and finally restarted the new phone and finally got everything working, not thanks to Verizon. I go back to talk to the manager about the terrible service and she gives me the 'I don't give a F what you're saying, just leave" look. As I am talking she rolls her eyes and says, "well a lot of people activate their phones at home." Yeah, but they're given instructions and not lead to believe the new phone is already working! WORST PLACE EVER!!! Seriously, Verizon is terrible as it is, but whoever runs this store needs to be fired. My phone sporadically decided to match the current state of the world. Yup! Just stopped working. Have absolutely no idea why. No cracks scratches, bumps, or water damage. Just decided to be a good ol lemon. At least it happened within the 1 yr warranty. Brought it to Terry who was excellent. He did everything he could to troubleshoot. It was close to closing, so he could have turned me away. But instead, he really tried to figure out what the problem was. Once he had an idea, he even tried to help me figure out the best way to have a working phone in a timely manner. I came to the store (10/4 @3:45pm) looking to switch into Verizon and also get a new phone. A male employee met us outside and told us that he couldn't switch our lines in person and couldn't do any phone promotions in store, and it can only be done online. He also said the entire application is through the website and we could just purchase the phone online and do in-store pick up. My partner and I thought this was really strange so we left and went across the street to Best Buy. An employee at Best Buy was able to switch us into Verizon AND get us the phone promotion we were looking for. This location's customer service is a joke - they have no idea what they're doing. There's salesmanship, and then there's fraud. Tips for customers entering this Verizon Store: (1) Get everything in writing. (2) Verify discounts and promises IMMEDIATELY. (3) Bring a pen and paper and keep your own records of things you're told. (4) If a salesperson says you have to buy one thing in order to get a discount on something else, ask a manager if that is true. Get it in writing. (5) ASK if there are "any other discounts" you're eligible for. Ask again, "So these are ALL of the discounts I'm eligible for?" Follow tips (1) and (3). My story is a bit complex (big family plan with lots of lines), so let's use a stripped-down example. Let's say you walk into this Verizon Store intending to buy the new iPhone, and a salesperson tells you that you're eligible for a bunch of deals that all sound great. You ask a lot of questions, and he gives you great answers, and then you ask, "Okay, so walk me through what my monthly bill will be." He then writes the following numbers down on a piece of paper: Data: 50 Discount: -25 Phone line: 40 iPad line: 10 iPhone: 7 (for 20 months) So how much is your monthly bill going to be? $82, right? Nope. If you were talking with Erich, your monthly bill is now $107. How is that possible? Well, when you talk to him two days later, he'll say that when he wrote down the first four numbers, he was talking about "your monthly bill in total," but when he wrote down that $7 number at the end, he had "switched," and was talking about "how that line would look AFTER factoring in the $25 discount" (which had already been included in the same equation). But that's not how math works. That's also not "just salesmanship." It's fraud. As an attorney, I've learned the old adage, "Trust, but verify." When I got home from the Verizon Store, I tried to verify all of the changes and discounts that Erich promised me. The changes were there, but not all of the discounts. Unfortunately I did not consult Yelp before going to this location-- mea culpa!! I went to get the data transferred from one handset to another. I was very familiar with the phone handsets but new to Verizon. Imagine this scenerio.... walked into an open, spacious area and greeted by the check-in guy-- just like a restaurant. He asked my name and told me to go into the next room and sit down and wait. Everything is bright, modern, airy, with no customer lines... sounds good, right? I walk into the next room which looks like a bank, with a row of tellers behind the counter. I'm "greeted" by a rather large woman with a small bun who looked like she had been grumpy that whole day. I told her that I needed to do a data transfer that included my outlook contacts and photos. She proceeded to tell me that their machine only provides transfer of names and telephone numbers. I told her that I know it is possible to get other types of data (besides doing the sync process). We go back and forth at least five times- me telling her what I would like to accomplish and she telling me the same phrase each time.. ugh. In any case, this woman's incompetence became clearer by the minute. The data transfer (after she finally figured out how to do it-- did include other info such as company names and e-mail addresses-- duh!!) I asked other questions that she could not answer or tried to give me some lame answer which I demonstrated in front of her did not work. Don't waste your time - go to best buy across the street. We spent a long time looking for parking at this plaza only to be assigned to a rep that didn't even bother to help us. We wanted to switch an upgrade from a family plan to get the Samsung note 4 - basically the phone we have isn't due for an upgrade but another phone within the plan is available for the upgrade. He just said that we aren't able to do that. We need to have everyone on the plan to be present inside the store to switch the upgrades. It doesn't make any sense because you can even do this switcharoo getting a phone from Amazon. We went to best buy instead and was able to get help. I'm not sure why I'm bothering to write this except to say "Amen" to many of the others who are complaining. I went to this location as they are near me and they're corporate. I had one issue and two questions and I felt a corporate store would be better able to help me. Those were the old days. All they do here is sales, in fact at the end of my visit I asked if they did anything besides sales and was told, "Not really". When I walked in a tall young man greeted me and worked with me immediately. I told him I'd gotten text welcoming me to Mexico when I hadn't crossed the border. His response (actually, his response for everything) was "Call customer service". I said that the store had helped with issues in the past and he actually said, "Well, that's the past and we're moving on". I said, "Well, you may be moving on but I"m not and I want to know why this is happening". He again told me to move on, things (the store) had changed. I asked why it's a corporate store--to help customers?--yes--then help me--no, move on. I said I had two questions to understand about my iphone. He told me to go to Apple and take classes. I said I'm with Verizon and I"m asking you. He did answer my question about gigabytes (20 seconds of his precious time). My next question was about getting internet service for my house and he said "we don't do that". I said I"ve gotten quotes for this in the past and he again told me to move on and they don't do that--"it hasn't gotten to this area yet" . WHAT!?! "Call customer service" So what do you do here? Sales. It was empty there yet he was obviously anxious to get to the next person who wouldn't just have a question. To the rep who writes how you appreciate the feedback, please do not respond to me. I'd prefer if you and your reps got better training. A few negative reviews can be about always angry customers but you have a S*%tload of negative reviews--I think it's about you, Verizon. Maybe you should "Call customer service" yourself. There are wonderful folks at College Grove Verizon which is far from me but worth the drive. There are also wonderful folks at some of the other phone companies I"ve been visiting. I"ve gotten a few folks who can't answer something but I"ve never gotten arrogant a-holes who think they're above the rest of us. If you plan on coming here then I recommend asking for Michael N. He was easy to work with and his customer service was definitely five star quality! The moment I walked in, Michael greeted me and starting working on setting up an account right away. The whole process was extremely fast and easy, but then we ran into a problem when we realized my phone was still locked by my previous carrier. Michael assured me it wouldn't be a problem, I just had to unlock it with them and I could come back the following day. When I returned to the store, Michael still had all the items I was going to purchase the previous day and was ready to go with the business specialist Greg, who was extremely knowledgeable about the entire process and made it go by very quickly. Today Michael called me just to follow up and see how it was going with my new phone or if I had any questions. Now that's what I call five star service! I purchased a phone and was talked into a jetpack as well. I was informed I could cancel the jetpack at any time if I learned I really wasn't using it, as I expected I wouldn't be. 10 months later, and with zero use, I decide to call and cancel the service. Come to find out - yes, I signed a 2 year contract and can turn off the service but have to pay $160 cancellation fee. So all in all, I spent $360 for equipment and service I never once used. What made it worse, was that Verizon management would not waive the cancelation fee, instead they kept reminding me it was because my circumstance changed which is why I don't need the jetpack and why I ended up spending the $360. Why would any customer service person tell me it's my fault when I'm already frustrated? I canceled the jetpack and as soon as my phone contract is up I will be moving to another provider. read more

Stopped in after work to try to pick up a couple of phone accessories. We were greeted right when we walked in, and had an associate at our side, offering his assistance within the first minute of walking to the accessories wall. The guy who ended up helping us knew exactly what we were looking for, and immediately went to the back to pick one up for us. There was no up-sell attempt, no request to "check our account" to "see if anything could be done" about our bills, none of the typical BS that you get when you're in a Verizon store. He also acted like a professional when I came sauntering up later with an accessory for my phone, after he'd already started to ring up my husband's purchase. He just backed out of what he was doing and added my purchase on to the bill, which was nice. He had a good sense of humor, and made us feel very comfortable. All in all, I appreciate the staff at this store much more than the staff at the Sports Arena Blvd store. Of course, after that interaction, I was almost ready to give up on Verizon for good. Where do I begin? Well, first of all Verizon is absolutely the most HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE carrier you can use!! If you have them, GOOD LUCK!! I'll try and make it short! My mother has been a Verizon customer since 1997 and she is 85 years old, in return for her loyalty and her age they gave her a senior discount witch was basically nothing!! She had unlimited everything for $68 and some change a month. When I asked them if they could do any better they said no, that IS the senior discount, and just today I talked to a senior friend of mine who said he got a senior plan for him and his wife at $40 dollars a line, hmmmm, seems like the people at Verizon are LIARS!!! The customer rep he talked to said that this plan is a secret that they don't tell everybody!! That was enough for me!! So when we were at the T-Mobile store who gives seniors unlimited everything for $35 a month, yes beating Verizon!! Wait it gets better!! We needed the number transfer pin to complete the transfer but they're website wouldn't let us log on to her account, even after we tried getting a new password several times, (that we didn't need cuz we knew the password) so we decided to call, but if you call Verizon they don't answer the phone, after 48 minutes waiting we gave up and decided to just call 611 from her phone, well after waiting an hour and fifteen minutes for that call to go thru it went to some employee voice mail line!! Btw, when I call T-Mobile, I'm talking to someone within 2 minutes every time!! Next, we went to the Verizon store close by which was totally empty and were told we could only get that pin number from a corporate store. Enter Verizon Corporate Mission Valley. When we arrived there, there was a line out front in the sweltering San Diego heat, they added our name to a list and said it would be at least 45 minutes. After being in Line for over an hour and watching an employee (we could see everything cuz we were right in font of the wall of glass that was at the front of the store) come back from his break, we knew he was on his break cuz we saw him leave! He stood and talked to one of his fellow employees right in front of us for 10 minutes!! Yes, while we were all waiting outside in the heat! Needless to say GOOD RIDDANCE to this AWFUL AWFUL company, this is why Verizon is HEMORRHAGING customers, Oh yeah, I got my mom a brand new I phone11 for $299 and unlimited everything for $35 a month! My husband, daughter and I visited this store the day after Christmas and received INCREDIBLE customer service. We just wish we remembered the name of the gentleman that helped us. He was a manager, said he'd been there for over 10 years, and said we'd receive a customer survey so we could provide our positive comments. Unfortunately, we never received a survey. And his name isn't on the receipt we got, so I can't provide it. Fortunately (and miraculously), there was no line of other people waiting behind us. We had all kinds of issues with our new Christmas phones (couldn't get one to transfer everything over, and wanted to switch the other with a smaller size and also do the set up). This Verizon superstar took the time to walk us through all of this and make sure we walked away fully logged in with everything working 100%. We know it's not always easy dealing with technology, varying degrees of user proficiency - and all during COVID, so we wanted to make sure to acknowledge this service and encourage the example set by this employee. Not only was he helping us, but he was helping the rest of his staff work with their customers, demonstrating a thorough understanding of the product and technology, patience, kindness and understanding. It was clear he had the respect of his team. If we happen to find his name, we'll update this review so he gets credit, but we're hoping that you can figure out who it is to get him the recognition he deserves. If I could give less than one star I would. We bought new phones and told our bill would go up by $2 a month after all was said and done. Turns out they removed us from the 55+ plan without our knowledge and are now looking at paying $44 a month more not $2. We have been dragged along with promises of helping us fix this to be told, after many calls, that they can not do anything thing for us. He needed a new phone ASAP, and was treated horribly by the only sales rep there. He refused to help him with any of his request. My friend who is older, was in complete awe at this sales rep manners and left the store. I could not be more embarrassed at this type of treatment to a surgeon of all people. Yeah, Verizon's expensive. That's definitely a gripe. But I'm usually "in the network"! JP, my helper of the day, was greaaaaaaaaat. Really patient with me, when I needed a new phone recommendation, because the little brother accidentally spilled tea onto my Blackberry Curve. I asked about the BB Storm--he pretty much said that it was crap, and always had a lot of problems, with all the customers coming in to deal with it. So then I was debating between the Motorola Droid and the HTC Droid. He pointed out all the necessary facts to me, gave me tips on what I might like and not like about them, and was just very nice and helpful! Motorola it was! I love it. For paying the same data plan price as I was, with the Blackberry, this one is so much more faster, more efficient, has more apps, and does so much more, too! I've never heard of anyone charging for transferring numbers, before (re: someone else's earlier post). Too bad I couldnt do it from my BB, since it was short-circuited =( 4 months prior, my Blackberry Curve's battery would die within two hours of being fully charged. Very bad customer service. Long wait, they told us to come back in an hour and when we came back they had taken us off the queue because we hadn't responded in three minutes. The workers were moody and inpatient, also not helpful at all. The sales counter was dirty and gross. read more
