Awesome food, service and atmosphere! No negatives at this place! We all loved it and were very happy.

The food as always was good! The three stars is for our server Juleah. She was in a hurry and short in our conversation with us. The restaurant was half full at best so unsure of the reason for acting in this manner. We watched her sit at the bar and eat while getting up and down serving tables and not once washing her hands before serving food to guest. I'm pretty sure that is a health violation! My friend & went to Vickery cafe after seeing all the good reviews. We got there at 120pm. They were cleaning up 1/2 of the cafe & sat us on the other 1/2. I ordered the meatloaf, mashed potatoes, green beans. He ordered the migas. He is a big guy, he was expecting more like what I got. It was more like 2 eggs ,tortillas & onions thrown on a plate. With black beans. He wasn't impressed. Mine was uneatable. It was salty! He tasted it also just to make sure I wasn't exaggerating & he said wow that is really salty! I asked the waitress for fresh squeezed orange juice & she poured it from a pitcher?? Then something weird started happening. The staff started putting seram wrap around all the chairs & tables that they had put up on the other side.. now customers that were coming in , they were moving other customers to other tables to fit the new customers in so they didn't have to dirty that other side?? So unprofessional when your sign says your open till 230!! What is with wrapping your table & chairs?? Making your customers move tables with their plates & drinks?? No thanks.. An old-fashioned diner. Good food. Prices just a bit higher than you'd expect (but very reasonable). Excellent menu choices. Judging by the full parking lot, it is a Fort Worth gem. Breakfast/brunch is a great time for the breakfast Monte Cristo. Yum!!! Service is not consistent, but I've found it consistently friendly. I have eaten here many times and the home cooking is always good. The service is fair and fun. If you want pies, go down the street for better, lower priced pies. EXCELLENT! Feel of a family diner with diner prices and tasty food. Try the pancakes if you can. We added pecans to ours and it sort of tasted like pecan pie. Sooo good. They also serve their syrup hot which makes the experience so much better. We also got the New Orleans omelet and it was pretty good! The hollandaise was just okay in my opinion but everything else was good. A bit spicy though. I'd definitely get another omelet from here, just a different kind. And Guess what? One massive 3 egg omelet with hash browns and a stack of 2 pancakes, check split down the middle, $9.58 each. Worth it. We didn't even finish the whole thing because we were so full even though we came hungry. Should've gotten 1 pancake. Will be back!!! read more

This is a hidden gem! The service is all smiles all the time. All of the food is homemade from scratch from the sausage patties to the amazing fruit jams to the biscuits with sauce gravy - better than my grandma made . Met a friend here for breakfast. Not much of an egg eater, coupled with the higher priced menu items for breakfast, I decided to have an early lunch. The value seemed a little more reasonable. Just finished eating here and the stockyard omelet was disgusting! It lacked flavor, overpriced, too much cheese I could barely cut through it and the shredded beef was disgusting and dry!!! The hash browns were not fresh either. The last bite that I took off the omelette left a nasty taste in my mouth! I tried it but I will not be back. Waffle House has better tasting food! And the OJ was overpriced at $3.75 and it came it one of those red cups given to you at Chuck E Cheese's or CiCi's pizza. Not worth it! read more

Okay. It took some courage to write this review. Too many of y'all crowd the Ol South Pancake House so I stopped going there for our Sunday breakfasts. This place gets packed too, but we've been early enough to avoid a wait. I kinda didn't want to reveal this gem for what it is but SIIIGHH... I'll admit it. Okay. Fine. You win. This place is awesome. Not much to look at, from the outside or in. It's on the not-so-fancy side of Arlington Heights. Picture geriatric peeps and yuppie 30-somethings as the other patrons. The booths are saggy and aren't comfortable, and the orange juice squeezer looks a lot like a dialysis machine. BUT! Everything is delicious and made from scratch. Delicious food, ample portions. I've had the cheese blintzes (which IHOP has stopped serving) and the seasonal pumpkin cheesecake French toast. Just as fabulous as they sound. That pumpkin cheesecake French toast also came with a delicious pecan syrup and had swirls of icing on top. And Hell yeah I killed it! I felt my baby dancing around in my belly, all hopped up on sugar. The hoospan always gets some decked out omelette and always leaves fat and happy. Breakfast is my daddy and my favorite meal of the day. You can eat savory OR sweet and it be totally okay. Today, my dad and I got omelettes. He got the ham and cheese and I got the Cajun omelette. It was slap your momma good! Portions were generous and service was fast. What a great find! We were just looking through YELP this morning trying to figure out where to eat breakfast and the boyfriend found this place. The atmosphere was rather divvy which I found to be perfect. I can't believe another reviewer only gave 3 stars because of it. They should go eat at a chain if they want fancy smancy. Our server was excellent. She was pimping the sticky buns but we held off not sure of portions of the regular menu items. Although the sticky buns were hard to resist. Hind sight being 20/20, we should have taken one to go. As for the meals we ordered, portions were big and prices were small. The BF had migas which was loaded with brisket. Not just any brisket either, were talking tasty moist juicy brisket. It was yummy! The refried beans were creamy and smokey. Dude also gave the coffee a thumbs up. I had the breakfast quesadillas which were loaded with flavor, sausage, eggs, cheese, salsa and pure goodness. The tortillas were cooked with seasoning that was fabulous. I would for sure order again. It was way more than I could eat. A half order would be perfect but you could beat the price at $6.99. They had pies in the cold case that looked pretty darn tasty but we didn't actually try them. Very eye appealing though. I'm kind of excited to try this place for lunch or dinner sometime. Everything is homemade. Looking around everyone seemed happy with their selections. True, those booth seats aren't very comfy - i think i sat on a beam the whole time. But we actually have pretty decent service and didn't wait an extraordinary time for our meals like other Yelpers mentioned. I ordered the hamburger steak with a side of mashed potatoes and a bowl of chicken and sausage gumbo. My husband ordered the chicken fried steak with fried okra and something else i cant remember. The little guy got a kids pancake meal. I have to admit, my meal was fantastic. The onions were grilled, my steak was tasty and the gravy was homemade. My gumbo had a great flavor and texture although it was a little salty. I tried a few bites of the chicken fried steak and fried okra and they were amazing as well and I'm not a fan of okra. They also gave us a few pieces of jalapeno cornbread in the shape of ears of corn. Very tasty with a subtle flavor of jalapeno might i add. The little guy's pancakes were fluffy, buttery, and tasty. He tore up his whole plate. Unfortunately we arrived for lunch about 30 minutes before closing but our waitresses were really gracious and didn't try and rush us at all. Parking - there's a 20 car parking lot but during peak hours, that's not enough. So you'll have to park in the streets. Wait time - Came here on a Sunday for 2 people at 11:30 and they said it was a 20 min wait, but it was more like 5 min. If you really want to get food in your belly fast, then I'd recommend asking to be seated at the bar if it's open. Food - my boyfriend eats pig AND eats like a pig so finding an entree that fills him up is hard to do. But the breakfast quesadilla surprisingly filled him up! It was delicious and unlike any other quesadilla I've had. Instead of a white tortilla, they used an orange tortilla, which added some extra flavor to the dish. The sausage also added the right amount of needed kick to the plate. I went healthy and ordered the egg white omelette, which was pretty normal. But then I went unhealthy and also ordered the chocolate chip Belgian waffle. The waffle was definitely overpriced, but it was one of the fluffiest waffles I've eaten so that was yummy. They need to add more chocolate chips though - I think I only found 8, and that was one big waffle so the waffle to chocolate ratio was super off. The fresh squeezed orange juice was SUPER sweet - one of the best FSOJ I have had. We'll definitely be back though to eat the breakfast quesadilla again and try those huge chocolate chip pancakes! Soooo every Sunday the husband and I are on the search for "like my moms" biscuits. The biscuits here are fluffy however on the sweet side and therefore we are still on the hunt for great biscuits and gravy. The chicken fried steak breakfast was a great serving however a very sodium ridden breading. Once I removed most of the breading the steak was great! Service was just right, and prices are very fair. Stepped in today to with my brother to order some to-go. Got a little food to share while we decided what we wanted. After ordering and getting our food, I realized there were no biscuits included. I mentioned this to the waitress who exclaimed that she swore that she gave them to us. It leads one to imply that we must've eaten them while no one was looking. No apology. Have been here a few times in the past few weeks and its been a crapshoot when it comes to service. The last time here the kitchen staff had the music blasting so loud it was hard to carry a conversation with my wife. May be the pandemic, can't say but sure hope it gets better. Everything about this place is so cute. I love little diners like this and the people are so friendly. The fresh squeezed orange juice is the best. They have the machine that makes it right in front of you to see which I think is pretty cool. I got the Breakfast Monte Christo which is a very good choice and filling. I believe that jam is homemade because I've never had anything like it anywhere else. Theres not a big area for parking I got lucky as a spot opened up as soon as I got there. Big thank u to the big white truck that was leaving the spot right by the front door for me. OJ is a bit on the pricey side but that's ok because it was so worth it. And always have every intention to not go all in on a 3000 calorie meal. And yet every time I go I always order something deliciously worth it! Great for breakfast, they know how to cook eggs to order and coffee isn't gourmet but it's great cafe coffee. Blueberry pancake is great, too. But the club is fresh, easy and huge. It's TOO easy to go get with some fresh cut fries or O-Rings. Say hello to Casey for me. They like to give me a hard time. But they're like family, now. read more

What a great old-school breakfast diner. We were a party of 6, and had a bit of a wait, but it was reasonable. Had coffee while waiting for table. Everyone enjoyed the meals, the orders were correct and timely. The waitress was really nice and played the stereotypical crotchety diner waitress act well, but it was an act.
