(work) and decided to try a local spot in downtown plano. Vickery Park! Despite the name there is no swing set, but you will be greeted with happy faces and an atmosphere that feels like your nation was faced with a potato famine. Drinks are cheap and the food tastes like they kidnapped your mother to work the kitchen. Its a great experience and a better life. read more

This is my default brunch place, the wait staff is always knowledgeable about their menu, and the food items are really good in contrast to the "dive bar" aesthetic. I have had everything on the brunch menu at this point, as well as all the sandwiches, that should keep you busy for at least a dozen visits. read more

The girl working at 11:40 Friday night 7/18/23 was incredibly rude and obviously hates her life and job. I wish that Vickery which is a fantastic establishment would have more positive employees. Brisket Sandwich w/Fries What a pleasant surprise. The food was fantastic and I will get to that in a second but let me first talk about the ambiance and the service. Once we entered, this was around Halloween time, and the place was decorated all over with cool little bits. As a matter of fact, the surrounding area had some pretty cool decorations related to the holiday. Its the little things that are very noticeable but on to the service. The lady was very nice and very attentive so our waters were never empty and our orders were taken and delivered with so much kindness. Now on the the food. The brisket sandwich was super tasty. I was actually surprised because the brisket was tender, flavorful, and the bread complimented it so well. This was an experience where nothing went wrong and everything went completely right and when I come back to visit Dallas, this will definitely be one of my first stops. read more

I love this bar. Food is good, service is good, and it's one of those places I often find myself spending way longer at than I was intending. During one of those times, I had the opportunity to try all 3 of the 'Texas tacos' (chicken, beef and pork). They are all pretty good, but the beef one is to die for. Literally amazing and very large and $3! It's brisket, queso wrapped in a flour tortilla. Not an authentic taco by any means, but worth stopping in here for that alone. This showed up when I searched dive bars - this is not a dive bar! It is, however, an awesome space. The front of the bar is comfortable and welcoming and the back of the bar is very chill with shuffleboard, foosball and comfy seating. Our server was very personable and knowledgeable about the menu. I had soup and salad and they were good, but the dressing was a little oily for my taste. Hubby had the mussels and crab cakes. The mussels were excellent, but the crab cakes were too much bread and not enough crab. That's pretty much the only reason we weren't going to give them a five. However, when our server realized we weren't happy with the crab cakes, she took them off the bill and then they went right back to a five. read more

EVERYTHING I have eaten has been mouth watering-ly delicious. (sorry made up word!). From the Megas, eggs Benedict, French toast, biscuits and gravy, and T-bone with Eggs and so so much more to chose from. Today's decision was biscuit and gravy, French toast with apple and pear slices, and T-bone with eggs which was all shared between us!! Oh and of course mimosa's. Atmosphere is like a dive bar with local art hung and painted on the walls. Love that they support local artists sell and show their art!! Service is always great, quick, friendly and attentive. The only negative I have is the smell of the restaurant. It always smells of cleaning supplies and food. It guess its soaked in the wood. I guess the cleaning supplies smell is a good thing bc I am grateful they are clean... but I suggest getting a scented candle or air purifier or switch cleaning supplies to organic solutions. read more

I love Vickery Park. Definitely don't get out there as much as I would like, but if I'm in the area... It's definitely a spot I want to check out. They have the most amazing tacos. They are huge and delicious. I suggest you order one... Or even two if you're super hungry. They are packed with flavor. When we were there this last time, we shared one of the tacos. We also ordered the grilled chicken sandwich which was superb. Also got some mac and cheese as well, and it was fantastic. I've been following Vickery Park's ever-changing beer selection on Untapped for the past 6 months and FINALLY had the chance to stop in yesterday afternoon. Really regretting the fact that I didn't get here sooner! My main draw was obviously the beer selection -- They're constantly switching up their drafts and bottle/can selection, and offer good prices, along with a nice $1 off draft Happy Hour special (4pm-7pm). The second thing that got me through the door was the fact that they have games to play in the rear section of the restaurant (darts, foosball, and shuffleboard). I'm all about activities. Initially I hadn't planned on staying for dinner, but when we looked at the menu we realized that, lo and behold, that rocked too. We were told that we had to try the pizza by a group nearby, so we ordered a pepperoni, mushroom and onion. See the cheese-pull in the photo attached. It was amazing. I also ordered their Plano Vegetarian sandwich (portobello, basil, mozzarella), which I highly recommend to both vegetarians and omnivores alike. The thing was delicious. Even the side salad that it came with with freakin gourmet. And again -- Excellent prices. Looking forward to coming back for brunch sometime. This has turned into our go-to place for happy hour during the week. When I meet my sexy woman there the drinks are cold and the typical bar food is yummy. Shuffleboard in the back is always fun with a few beers. In the rear they also have some couches and coffee tables if you want to get a little closer to your shawty. This place is located in historic/downtown Plano which can be a quite packed area for a Sunday lunch. Street parking is available but can be hard to find. Indoors is your usual bar setting and you get to seat yourself. Menu is available online, and considering everyone has been raving about the brisket sandwich we decided to go and order that with a side of fries. As for beer, the waitress was very kind to let us have a couple samples before finalizing our order on that. My mom loves a blue moon, so the waitress stocked her up with oranges which was very kind. The food came out pretty promptly, and the order was pre-split between my mom and I which I appreciate. The brisket is not your typical barbecue brisket - and I mean that in a good way. The brisket has a sweet honey flavor with a dipping sauce, and the fries are nice and crispy giving me Wing Stop vibes (in a good way). Pickles were provided on the side and it was neat they provided 2 kinds.The only con I will say is that because of the sauce they drench it in, the bottom bun almost disintegrated into mush.. but I'll allow a pass because its so tasty. I had an absolutely phenomenal experience here last night (a Thursday). My guest and I ended up parking ourselves at a high two-topper in the main "core" of the place, with the bar on my left and booths to my right. It's a long and skinny place, very cozy, and by the time you're speaking loud enough to break over the noise sometimes, other people might be able to hear, so if that's a problem, choose your seating carefully. The high point of the experience from the bar's perspective was our absolutely outstanding server, Kristee. We stayed for over four and a half hours, yet only drank two drinks each and had an appetizer. She was super attentive, watched for breaks in our conversation (of which there were few) to ask if we needed anything, and stayed with us the whole evening, despite our slow consumption. I rewarded her with a very well earned 50% tip. My guest had craft beer, and I had a couple of glasses of the featured cabernet, which was nicely dry yet had good fruit notes. The calamari was nicely fried with a delicate batter and also featured small pieces of fried red pepper that had a very modest heat, and went well with the supplied ranch dressing and marinara. The environment is great, the lighting is just right, and it feels, well, "good" to be there. Even if you're not a regular, you feel like you are. A great place to be! read more

Went here last Friday night. To be completely honest, the group I was out with had been planning to go to the Filmore Pub across the street, but switched plans when the Filmore seemed like it was going to be a really long wait. Victory Park was only about half full at 6:30ish, so we easily got a table. We ordered onion rings and fried Mac and cheese as our appetizers, which were both pretty good. Both came with a mountain of French fries too which was a pleasant surprise. One thing I was annoyed by was the fact that they didn't actually take our entree order until after the appetizers had come, which meant a pretty long wait between courses. But hey, if you don't come super hungry that's alright because at least you won't feel rushed at all. I ordered the burger as my entree and boy am I glad that I did! It was seasoned really really well and had the most delicious cheddar cheese and a unique mustard. The bun was buttery and grilled really nicely, adding a great flavor around the edges especially. I would absolutely order this again. Two of my friends ordered dessert, both got the creme brûlée. They both ate their entire desserts, and seemed satisfied. I will say, the creme brûlée was pretty tiny, but then again I guess that's normal for that dish to be. The only other dessert they offer is a typical brownie sundae. I'm docking points for lack of dessert options. I mean come on, you could offer something more than the two most overdone desserts in America. I'm also docking points because our waitress was always in a rush. She checked in often, but really never once actually waited to hear our response when she asked "how are we doing here". She was usually long gone before I could ask for a refill (which I never got) etc etc. She clearly was trying to do a good job but was very very overwhelmed and had too much to do to do any one thing properly. When Preston said he wanted to get some friends together and have brunch at Vickery Park in Plano, my first thought was "ugh Plano? Can't we go Uptown with the cool kids?" haha, but I am glad we came here. It wasn't busy, they hooked us up with a nice table in the back so we had our own tv and little area to be loud in, plus I love the decor and art. I had to eenie-meenie minee moe and ended up with the egg sandwich. It came stacked high with lots of sriracha ketchup, ham, bacon (chewy not crispy), cheddar, & 2 eggs over hard on a toasty, but soft butter honey bun. It also came with hash browns which aren't your traditional extra crispy and greasy style, instead these only have a little crunch, more soft potato with a bit of red onion and bell pepper and a heavy sprinkling of parmesean. These were ok. I would have rather had fries. We also had a carafe of mimosa which was tasty. Overall I really enjoyed the place and I wouldn't mind checking it out in the evening. Located conveniently in downtown Plano, Vickery Park is easy to find. Just go east on 15th St. from US75 and it's on the left hand side once you enter into town. Although this is primarily a bar, they happen to also be a GREAT restaurant and lounge. I came here last week for a friend's birthday party and after my first experience with this place, I came back a week later for brunch! For dinner, I ordered the Winner Winner Chicken Dinner ($11) - a new menu item whose name intrigued me. I wanted to be a winner and I like chicken. This was essentially chicken-fried chicken, but it was different. The breading was crispy, light, and thin. Almost like panko or something. It added texture but didn't take away from the chicken. Oh, the chicken! So moist and delicious. I got a side of the picnic fries too and they come with sriracha ketchup. Sriracha is a Thai-style hot sauce for those of you who have no idea what I'm talking about. The fries aren't spectacular, but the spicy ketchup saves them. When we came back here for brunch on Sunday morning, I ordered the Biscuits and Gravy ($7) - two large biscuits cut in half and absolutely drowning in sausage gravy. Holy god it's good, but it's not enough! I could've eaten 3 orders of this stuff. I ordered a side dish of picnic fries ($3) and a Chorizo-cheese-egg breakfast burrito ($4) to fulfill my hunger. Gravy is sausage ecstasy and the breakfast burrito was big and hearty. It came with freshly blended salsa and homemade pico de gallo. Yummmm. The entire table ordered multiple carafes of mimosas, which were yummy. The wait staff was incredibly accommodating. They sat our party in the private lounge area in the back. They made sure we were facing the flat panel TV so we could watch the Mavs game. They turned down the music and turned up the TV so we could cheer along with the game. And they split up our tabs without hesitation. Incredibly good service for a bar. Just outstanding. Besides the great food, service and atmosphere, they also have a ton of imported beers. Beers, ciders and lagers from the UK, Ireland, Mexico, Belgium, Czech Republic, France, Jamaica, Denmark, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Holland, Germany and of course, all your great beers from Canada and the US. Lots to choose from. I can't say enough about this place. Great people, great food, great atmosphere, and GREAT FOOD!
