If there is one thing I love about Plano, it is DTP. I tried to convince my friends to hit up Fillmore Pub because I was craving a burger, but we ended up at Vickery Park during happy hour. It was easy to find seats and were were promptly served. Our server was unable to answer many questions about the cuisine, but we still navigated the menu. My friends enjoyed their drinks ($1 off during HH). They also ordered buffalo style calamari to be adventurous. Mistake! That is an unholy combination and left the calamari super mushy devoid of its essential crispiness. On the other hand, my Landmark burger was quite juicy and my green salad side was scrumptious. Definitely worth the price! The patty was cooked well with cheese melted nicely over and a tomato slice and onions on the side. The Christmas lights and tree made the whole scene a warm environment. No one gave us side-eye when we asked for a group picture. Overall a good experience at a classic local spot. read more

Okay I am seriously shocked that this place doesn't have better reviews.. So I have been multiple times, during different times as well.. Lunch, brunch, and dinner. I'm going to be entirely honestly.. I cannot stray from their burger. I'm a sucker for a good burger and this place knocks it out of the park. Has amazing flavor! I always choose french fries as my side too- and they serve the fries with spicy ketchup(optional).. SO GOOD. My boyfriend always get either the chicken sandwhich (off the brunch menu) or the brisket sandwhich. He raves about both. So those are yummy options to try as well :) Also love their bloody Mary's, spicy and delicious :) my friends all got mimosas! During brunch both are only $4, that's pretty great pricing for the area. The beer selection is great also! Long review short- This place is awesome. Try the burger. Loved everything about this place. Chill environment with friendly people. Went for brunch with my husband. Ordered mimosas, which were great! I ordered the eggs benedict, loved it! The sauce was thicker than usual, which I liked and the eggs were poached to perfection. Husband got the brisket sandwich, comes with a Kahlua sauce which is kind of sweet but compliments the meat very well. The brisket was great, comes with a lot o meat, very big sandwich. Soooo. Am trying Vickery Park again. Tried the same crepe I ordered last time....this time they got it right!!! Prepared to perfection, melt in your mouth goodness. Sat at the bar... bartender attentive..a different experience all together from last time!! Upping rating based on that. Shared the crepe this time due in part to last experience, but it came out smoking hot, cooked to the proper consistency, great presentation and flavor. (Donkey that delivered it from the kitchen didn't think nor inquire if we needed an extra plate since we were sharing, which we indicated, and he repeated back to us)...but based on today's experience would say you have a better than 50% chance of a good dining experience should you opt to try. read more

My husband and I were in Plano jumping around on 15th street when we stopped by Vickery Park for a beer. We came on a Saturday night around 10 p.m. and it was jam packed with people. Our server rushed over to us breathlessly and took our drink orders. She looked extremely swamped, which meant that she had to focus her entire attention to many tables. We watched as she sprinted back and forth from table to table looking miserable. It was because she was so swamped that it took that much longer for us to get our drinks and pay our tab at the end of the night. I felt so bad for her because she was trying so hard, but there obviously needed to be at least one more person working to alleviate her stress. While the drinks were well priced and we could sit comfortably and watch the Olympics on the various television screens, there needed to be more servers working to speed up the service. I think this would result in more beers being sold ;) read more

This is a bar worth coming to for the food! A mate told me about this place and described amazing food! To the point I came on Sunday morning before it opened and realized then that it was a bar! The menu is outside of typical bar food and has item like bangers and mash, chicken fried steak, and even a charcuterie board! There are amazing breakfast sandwiches, and champagne mussels that are to die for(don't forget to soak your bread in the mussel sauce)! This bar is located in cute downtown Plano. It's hard to find parking, so locate the parking garage. My favorite thing about Vickery Park is the ambiance. Dark, dank (kinda smelly actualy) OLD bar feeling. Long, narrow layout. Shuffleboard and two dart boards. TVs for sports and big, giant booths. Secondly, the food is really surprisingly good. House salad has walnuts and cranberries, delicious homemade chips with 3 different dips is my favorite appetizer. They have these really simple tacos for I think $3 that are actually tasty. The drinks are what you'd expect at a regular old bar. No "specialty-crafted" drinks or anything but a good beer list. I've always always had a blast here, I usually drag people to camp out at the shuffleboard/dart area so we can play. I love it! Definitely check it out if you're in the Plano area. read more

This is our hole-in-the-wall bar. We come here all the time. Lately, the cook that makes the pizzas is obviously struggling. We are so hungry. I went there a few times for a beer or two. The first time I liked the place friendly and talkative bartenders, nice. I was there yesterday, it was the most disappointing experience. I have returned a couple of times since my first review, and my update is as follows: Pizza here is pretty good, but it really shines on Mondays when its half price! Style wise it is a fairly thin 12" crust, but not crispy in the middle, and appears hand tossed. Cheese is a mixture of Mozzarella, smoked Gouda, and Parmesan, but its really tasty, so that even the plain cheese is delicious. Toppings are good too, and they are also half price on Mondays. Also, we have tried the burger- excellent, the onion rings (on a bed of fries) amazing, and the side salad, which is delicious. Beer selections is excellent. If you cant find a beer here you like your just crazy. In discussion with the party I sent here a few weeks back, one noted the place had a bad smell. I suggest it smells like a pub- exactly as I expect a pub to smell, so I'm not taking anything off for that. If there is one thing that seems to remain consistently poor here, it is the service. I'm not knocking any individual here, my observations is there are never enough waitresses to handle the amount of clientele. My last visit on a Monday it appeared our waitress was covering the entire place. She was practically running to cover the house. There was also a bartender, and one other female staffer that I could not ever discern what her position was, as I never saw her do anything. This creates a slowness, and/or apparent inattentiveness to service that I can fully understand why my drinking group would not want to return. However, If I am out for a leisurely dinner with non drinking folks- no problem. read more

Honestly, I wish I could rate this place higher, but the three times I've been here, I just couldn't shake the feeling that the entire joint smelled like a mixture of sewage and cleaning agent. Maybe that's just me. I'm sure they could do something about it (and I hope they do), but it kinda threw me off the few times I was there. The cleaning agent was so bad one time I walked in and then walked right out. Blegh. Otherwise, their food and beer is pretty great! Nothing is terribly expensive, but it's all a notch or two above average. I recommend hitting their cheese board, which is absolutely LOADED. It sticks to the basics, not trying too hard to be hoity-toity or try more sophisticated cheese/meat combinations, but it does well to put some food in your stomach as you chug down your beer. Never knew this hidden gem is close to our house. We loved everything about it. It has a rustic modern look inside. The French toast was made with a pound cake toast. It was heavenly. I adore this place. As a local, I can confidently say there is no bar that captures the Downtown Plano aesthetic more than this bar. Staff is friendly, wide selection of delicious food and drinks. The Kahlua cream sauce is AMAZING on the brisket sandwich. My only complaint is that maybe in pursuit of the laidback, hipster atmosphere, a few housekeeping items have been overlooked. There's a loose floor board by the entrance I've almost tripped on several times and they could probably stand to revamp their physical menus. Perhaps laminating them would help. If you're willing to overlook that sort of thing though, I think Vickery Park is quite an enjoyable spot and worth stopping by at for a pint read more

The place is a bar/restaurant. They have seating up front by the bar and a section in the back as well. I got the Migas and they were tasty! The portion was huge and the hash browns it came with were the perfect mix of crunchy and soft.. And obviously slathered in cheese. My friend got the Eggs Benedict and devoured it before I could even get a picture!! He said it was amazing. First bar I been in Plano!! Lots of locals and regulars talking to each other. Food was real good and super cheap! I had the brisket Burger and chips and a few beers on tap. Service was fast and good. The only negative was the TVs were angled wrong and couldn't enjoy much of the game I wanted to see. read more

What a horrible experience! My husband and I were meeting up with a bunch of co workers after our holiday party. I had to run to the restroom, since I'm pregnant and have a tiny bladder. So I handed my id to my husband while I made my way. The bouncer started yelling at me to come back, so I did. He scolded me very loudly for not waiting and I explained I was just going to the restroom. Seeing he was really upset, I quickly apologized. I wasn't trying to cause trouble. But I guess that wasn't enough. He grabbed my id and took a picture of it with his personal phone. He was completely rude and kept calling me "sweet heart" over and over in a very patronizing & rude tone. We were just there to meet up with our group of friends already there and seated, order some food and have a nice time before heading home for the night. Instead the bouncer would NOT let us in because i ran ahead. Who doesn't let a PREGNANT woman use the restroom ?! I'm appalled and will not be returning here. I have to laugh as this comes up under dive bar, ha ha, yeah, NO! Josh and The Captain were behind the bar and such nice guys. Took great care of my husband and I. It's a very dark place, but huge and really cool. Massive front bar along with dining tables while the back has a shuffle board table, foosball table, a comfy seating area, TVs, etc. It was just about empty on a Saturday morning with the exception of a few tables eating brunch. Had a great Bloody Mary, although it was a bit salty. My husband was going down the crappy beer menu (in our opinion), drinking Coors, Pearl Light, & Schlitz). The menu looked great, yet we weren't hungry. I'd like to eat there next time as everyone's plates looked really yummy. I had never visited this section of Plano before, and there were a lot of cool bars on this street. This is not at all like the original in Dallas, so if you're expecting a reincarnation you'll be disappointed. Don't judge a book by its cover. We thought this was going to be a really nice place, tablecloths, candles maybe. It's a dive bar. Ripped up vinyl booths, beat up tables. But the food is fantastic. One of the best meals I've had in Plano. I got the club sandwich which had amazing flavor, wife got the chicken burrito which was huge, and the mac and cheese. Both were excellent.
