After I paid I spoke to the manager who now felt it was a good idea to comp the salad- basically if I made a scene earlier they would comp the entire salad, but while I was polite to them they thought 20% was fair. Stopped here for lunch. Drinks were amazing. Lunch was decent but wasn't blown away. I had the catfish sandwich and the bread got a bit soggy. The chicken salad was a bit underwhelming as well. The crab was delish though. Service and ambiance was impeccable. They had outdoor seating by the water but it was a bit warm. Had a fun lunch at Vic's River Grill in Savannah. We ate outside with a view of the river and paddle wheel river boat. We started with ginger and lemon Mules- one with vodka and one with bourbon. Very refreshing. We ordered their slow cooked pulled pork sandwich with slaw on a brioche bun, and crispy fried oysters served with house fries, tartar, baguette and cocktail sauce. We had a party of 7 of which I was the only vegetarian. So, my review is limited but still worth posting. Everyone seemed to really like their meals - shrimp and grits + catfish and grits. I (and another person in our party) had the four cheese ravioli with roasted garlic cream sauce, blistered heirloom cherry tomatoes, artichokes and fried shallots (or leeks, can't remember) which, by description, sounded delicious. Very disappointed in that the sauce tasted like a basic cream sauce, the tomatoes were just regular RAW halved cherry or grape tomatoes, the artichokes were the canned kind with that weird brine flavor (I ate those separately so as to not ruin the taste of the actual ravioli) and there were just a couple shreds of fried shallot (the only thing giving any flavor to the dish). My rating is primarily based on the meal I had. For the type of restaurant this is and what they charge for the ravioli, they need to put a little more effort into this dish and not mislead by the description offered on the menu. This is such a cute spot that we stumbled on during a quick visit to River St. to grab pralines. One look at Yelp showed it had great reviews so we stopped in for midweek brunch. I was immediately pleased with that decision when I saw the super cute decor. I felt a little underdressed but there were plenty of seats so we sat. Our server greeted us pretty quickly and took our orders. Apps came out pretty quickly and our entrees came in a reasonable amount of time, but after our meals came to the table our server go missing for long periods of time. We waited a long time for her to bring our check and had to extend our meter parking timeframe as a result. The food was great. I tasted the crab beignets. They were very gooey/creamy inside which was unexpected. Flavor was good. I also ordered a Caesar salad which I enjoyed very much. Perfect amount of dressing and croutons. For my entree I went with the catfish and grits. The grits were in the middle of the bowl with a tomato based sauce surrounding them, it wasn't a thick or creamy sauce, it was more water like than anything but had good flavor. The catfish was lightly badgered and fried and placed on top. I enjoyed the dish and ate it all. I ordered a white sangria based on the ingredients but I couldn't taste anything more than sparkling wine. It was just ok. Overall I'm glad we stopped in and I would return here or to the sister restaurant Vic's on the River. read more

We had a last minute visit to Savannah over Independence Day weekend. Vic's was a great spot for an early dinner without reservations. It was a short walk from our hotel that took us down along the river. Service was friendly and hospitable. The blue crab beignets were very tasty. My spouse had the airline chicken and enjoyed it. I had the shrimp and grits and the portion was very generous. We left satisfied. And were too full to try dessert. The ambiance is cute and southern, with retro black and white tile floors. The bar had a piano, so I think Vic's might be a great place to have a glass of wine and enjoy some live music. read more

The original plan was to go to Vics on the River but apparently you need a prior reservation and we had a party of 6. The hostess advised they had a sister restaurant by taking the elevator to the 1st floor. We were told it'd be an hour wait so we decided to walk around. We finally got seated at 8pm. The lady took our order... came out with the mussels as appetizers and then we waited.... and waited... for an hour for our meal. We were ready to leave and told another passing waitress to let our waitress know so we could pay for the appetizer and that's when the lukewarm food came out just a bit past 9... which means our food was sitting...and I guess we were just being ignored. My burger was really like a big Mac (taste) but with an English muffin... so it was different. My son had a buttered pasta with chicken... supposedly a kids meal but not reflected in the pricing and it was DRY. Waitress got some sauce used for the shrimp and grits for him. Wish I got a pic. The kids grilled cheese was good. The shrimp and grits were good... the salmon meal was ok as well. Receipt: take a look. Auto tip was 20% but it must've been done manually as we were charged more . There was no apology for the delay in food. Very unimpressed and bad impression for our first ever meal in Savannah. read more

I stayed in Savannah's historic district for a work trip and this was by far the best meal I had. Most of the restaurants in the area are tourist traps and the food is absolutely sub-par. The service at Vic's was stellar and all of the food was delicious. The portions were large and I felt like I got my money's worth. The oysters were big and flavorful. The fried catfish and cheesy grits were hearty and I especially liked the sauce that was on the grits. And the Daisy Duke cocktail was well balanced. I could've had at least six of those. My only con was paying $3 for a "french baguette" that was about 3 inches long. I highly recommend this place and would definitely go back if I'm in Savannah. read more

The food was a good but i wouldnt recommend putting a burger on an english muffin. 2 bites in the burger was falling apart. the "wagyu" meat was dry & the fried oysters were a hit or miss. My husband & I were traveling with our 2 dogs. We went to the riverfront area to explore the shops & grab some lunch. Since. We were with our pups we were looking for a restaurant with outdoor dining. We stopped at VRG by chance. As soon as we sat the server brought over a bowl of water for our dogs. It was a warm day & we really appreciated it. For lunch my husband ordered the blackened catfish over a bed of cheese grits. He really enjoyed it. I had a mixed salad with blue cheese crumbles & fried chicken breast. It came with green goddess salad dressing which was absolutely delicious & obviously homemade. I'd love the recipe for that. The highlight of our lunch was my husbands Bloody Mary. It came garnished with a big piece of bacon, a stuffed cherry pepper, okra & lemon/ lime garnish. Definitely Instagram worthy. After trying Vic's on the River, we wanted to check this spot out. Lovely interior and kind servers. My food was a grouper in a tomato brother and was mouth watering. I ate every last drop, trying to steal bits of the broth even as the waiter came to take our plates. My husband got the scallops but were weren't too keen on them. They were alright in taste, and the portion was very small. They gave 3 scallops on a very small bed of couscous . One dish was a hit, one was mid. The she crab soup is a major highlight! We had enjoyed a pretty good dinner at Vic's River Grill and then a roach walked onto our table. We were disgusted and horrified. Our waitress, Missy, was equally disgusted and horrified. However, the manager did not seem to care at all about our traumatizing experience. He came over picked up the roach in a napkin and gave us a weak apology not acknowledging our feelings or the awful experience at all. The chef at the restaurant is evidently very creative. The food presentation is beautiful. The fried green tomato appetizer had a lot of interesting flavors. The shrimp with artichokes, sun dried tomatoes, and lemon cream sauce was okay. The artichokes and sun-dried tomatoes were tough and sauce could have been creamier with more lemon flavor. It would have been nice to have a basket of bread with this sort of dinner. Overall, the food did not taste as good as it looked, but the atmosphere was nice, until the roach showed up. We felt ill after that. The service from the waitress was excellent; the manager was not at all service oriented. The ambiance in the restaurant is nice. They seated us at a tiny table for two near a partial wall. LOL. This place is no where close to how it's rated. The only thing good was the Old Fashion and biscuits. Medium rare steak came as medium wel or worsel. Everyone else's meal was finished and removed from table before my second steak was delivered. So sad from what is supposed to be one of Savanah better restaurants. read more

There was no wait on this very warm August afternoon and we were pleased to be seated inside the cool and beautiful dinning area. We were traveling with three who wanted brunch items. To our surprise, much was available on the menu. The server was very attentive and checked with the chef to assure my strict dietary restriction would be addressed before ordering. My meal was delicious and so was my cocktail. The others in my party also agreed that their dishes were outstanding. No to go bags this time. We look forward to returning. read more

Absolutely phenomenal! Located along the river next to the Cotton Exchange, Vic's River Grill is an incredible up-scale place that offers fine dining to Savannah visitors. In fact, General Sherman's senior officers thought the same thing when they dined here in 1864. The dined here so much that they drew a battle map on the wall to discuss over dinner...and it's still there! One can sit inside or outside to dine. Just know that the outside dining is on the street side and not the river side. Nonetheless, the service and food will be excellent! For appetizers, we opted for the crab cakes and calamari. Both were excellent, but I was little surprised to see only one (1) crabcake come out of the kitchen. I wish it would have been a bigger serving since we were sharing among three people. For the main dish, I selected the Salmon...and was blown away. Fresh, flavorful, and hot, the salmon was served over couscous with tomatoes. Simply delectable! For the history, for the food, for the service, give VIc's a try! read more
