    Shrimp and Grits

Would have been a 5 but like most restaurants, they were short staffed. Maybe we caught them between shifts. I have to say, the bartender was outstanding! 100% customer focused and attentive. I ordered the shrimp and grits. Best I've ever had. Creamy texture to the grits. Andouille sausage, big shrimp (cooked to perfection) cherry tomatoes and peppadews. Some spice and creaminess to balance. Highly recommend! The interior was stunning! Southern charm at its finest.

The location of the restaurant just along the water is lovely. We were worried it would be an overpriced tourist trap (and it's not super cheap) but it was certainly worth it. The cocktail menu is solid with some unique offerings, the staff is knowledgeable and friendly, and the food was great. We did a salad, smash burger, and the crab beignets and they were all solid. It wasn't as crowded as some nearby restaurants so that's a win as well. Overall, a very good experience!

If you book a reservation on Resy.com, it is for Vic's River Grill, but if you book on OpenTable, it's for Vic's on the River. We went to the wrong place at first and the host was very kind in explaining and getting us sorted out. At Vic's River Grill, had the Fried Green Tomatoes and Blue Crab Beignets. The FGTs come with a lovely tomato chutney and goat cheese on top and then smoked gouda grits undernesth underneath. Definitely my favorite od the evening. The beignets are also worth a try, the parmesan adds a nice touch. Both my wife and I got the half portion salad which was still fairly big. I had salmon on top and choose the green goddess dressing and the salmon was cooked perfectly. She also had a cup of the French onion soup that she had enjoyed. Pretty extensive wine selection and a good beer list, while being very fair priced - not sure why we waited so long to come here but we will be back!

We came here before an event and they were so nice to allow us a party of 9 to come in and order a couple of drinks and appatizers. We ended up almost trying all of their cocktail drinks. I had their Yellowfin Tuna Tartar and it was so good! I honestly finished it in two bites it was so fresh and just amazing! For my cocktail I had their blueberry lemonade cocktail? I can't remember the full name but it was delious it was the best blueberry theme cocktail I have ever had! Thank you guys for being so amazing and working with us!

Friendly! Delicious! Welcoming! Friends and I were in town for a festive weekend and we were hungry, as we walked by the smells coming out of VRG's enticed us in. We sat outside so we could people watch and see the river flow by, what perfect weather we had for it. We were taken care of by Mike, he was perfect. Knew the menu, answered out questions, kept the drinks full is full, and had good recommendations. Plus he was cute to boot!! I had some tomato bisque soup and the chicken and waffles, oh wow the spice was amazing, my friend had a smash burger and the other had the eggs Benedict. We all cleaned out plates. You must go!!

Without any reservations Thursday evening, we were lucky to get a table right away near the bar and close to the live music. The hostess by the the front door informed us that the restaurant is a sister restaurant to the original Vic's Restaurant but had a different flare of southern food and a modern take to craft cocktails. Cocktails hit the spot and average price compared to other restaurants in the area. Savannah bars charge a lot for drinks so don't be shocked. The fried green tomatoes were out of this world. Nicely flavored tomatoes paired well with the smoked gouda grits. It's topped with creamy chevre cheese and balsamic vinegar dressing. The Grilled Salmon Oscar also pared well with blue crab meat, asparagus, and potatoes. The fish was flaky and perfectly cooked. The menu does recommend a wine for each meal and we chose a Malbec. Wonderful location and ambiance. Highly recommend.

Views were amazing!!! You can go outside on the balcony for pics and sunset. They had a live pianist. We got the filet to share and they were kind enough to split it on separate plates in the kitchen for us. Comes with complimentary biscuits. If you have a hard time finding it you have to go inside the Vic's coffee shop and take the elevator up.

Vic's is an amalgamation of venues, wrapped into one facility. A restaurant, a riverside grill, a coffee shop, a catering/meeting venue. I've had drinks at Vic's on the River and reviewed those separately. A laid back vibe with attentive bartenders. Vic's River Grill appears to have a pared down menu compared to Vic's on the River. I had the fried green tomatoes. Don't ask my why, because it's my husband's passion dish, but even when dining alone, I feel compelled to try them. These were quite good, served with a salty tomato chutney, smoked gouda grits, balsamic, and chèvre. Perfectly breaded. Delish. For my entree I had the filet mignon, which was tender. Wish it had a little more salt and pepper or seasoning, but was good and cooked medium as requested. It came with a loaded mashed potato side and asparagus. Asparagus was perfect. The potatoes seemed a little warmed over like they had sat under a warming light for a while, but the flavors were okay. All my drinks were good. I had a paper plane, Vic's version of an Old Fashioned, and the Strawberry rhuby. The rhuby was light and not too sweet. The other two were smoky, slow sippers. The River Grill also has a few soups (French onion, tomato, she crab), salads (mixed green, wedge, chopped fried chicken, caesar, whipped goats cheese). They have a smash burger as well. Entrees include scallops, the previously mentioned filet, mahi mahi (I saw one next to me and it looked super tasty), catfish, and a fried seafood platter. My service was EXCELLENT. I don't remember her name, but she was a big, beautiful, confident Black QUEEN and she treated me like royalty. So Vic's, whomever matches that description, you let her know she reigns supreme. The tables were bright, white, clean, and plenty of room in between. Some things Vic's on the River serves that the grill doesn't: a few more appetizers and salads, more entrees with a lot more seafood available (oysters, scallops, salmon, flounder, shrimp, fish tacos, shrimp pasta etc). Several more sandwiches aside from a burger (black and blue chicken, short rib, fried green tomato BLT, reuben, po boy). Several more cocktails. But I made this reservation literally minutes before arrival and it was much easier to get than the original vic's. So unless you want something very specific, vic's grill does the job and is a wonderful experience.

Must put on your list if you're in Savanah! Great place to enjoy a meal with a view of the water. Enjoyed everything we ordered but the blue crab beignets were especially delicious. Food, service, ambiance -everything was fantastic.

Vic's is located right on the water and a convenient place to stop for a nice meal. We opted for breakfast food as it didn't quite feel like a heavier option. Beautiful bar and interior with a piano! Server was very friendly, although took awhile for food. Everything was delicious!

Waitress was from rochester NY which was awesome to have someone close to home. She had great recommendations and knew the menu very well. Complementary biscuits w/ honey butter 10/10 I'm certainly glad they only give you two because otherwise I would eat these all night long. They were amazing, especially with the honey butter. Fried green tomato 10/10 Amazing combo of tomato chutney with the goat cheese, WOW delicious. Not a huge fan of the grit though. They were a little hard i think, i wish they were just cooked to be a minute softer. I also didn't think they were cheesy either. Truffle Mushroom risotto (special) 8/10 I just wish it had a deeper flavor of truffle and mushroom, it was a little plain to me. It was also a little bit hard, and I wish it was cooked a bit softer. Chicken was cooked great. Shrimp & grits 10/10 We were told they were voted best in Savannah. They were great. The combo of corn, tomato, and grit with the sauce was fantastic. Sauce was buttery. Not very spicy.

Been here for both dinner and lunch. All this said, I think my approach to this review is comprehensive. With regard to food, I think they have a decent (not expansive) selection of food, which I think lends itself to quality. They do most things really well. This said, I do think there is inconsistency based on staff at the restaurant. On one occasion they have accommodated a request, and on another I was denied the exact same request. I found this frustrating. On one occasion I've also seen management talk down to staff here, which is a big no no for me. All people (especially staff) are due respect and this rubbed me the wrong way. This was an isolated incident but it definitely made my dining experience uncomfortable. Especially because I was getting excellent service from the server!!! I've always had quality service from servers here. In the future, I would come to Rhett for convenience as a hotel guest (the hotel is lovely), but would likely not spend my money if I wasn't staying at the hotel. Overall- it's good food, decent ambiance... but there are soooo many good options in Savannah. You have to be exceptional to stand out in that city.

It was giving chain restaurant a little more than I expected. We tried the grilled oyster sampler, and while they all looked slightly different, somehow they all tasted like variations of Rockefeller. I could not tell you which was which. The she-crab soup? Absolutely not. Zero flavor. I took one bite and sent it back, and I rarely send food back. The shrimp & grits were... interesting. Very sweet, very corn-forward, and the texture was more porridge/cream of wheat than the thick, savory grits I had in mind. Was it terrible? No. On a rainy day, I could actually see myself eating a bowl of it. But if you tell me shrimp & grits, my mouth has already prepared for something completely different. Now--the fried green tomatoes? THAT was the star. Crispy, topped with a little crab salad and this hot sauce that pulled the whole thing together. The crab cakes were pretty solid too, especially with the two sauces, and the collard greens were tender and well done. Overall, I'd come back for lunch, oysters, drinks and a few appetizers. But dinner reservation? I'm not jumping through hoops. Savannah has too many really good restaurants for that. 3/5 -- cute, fun, a few hits, but the food needed a little more love.

I asked and was told they'd play it, but then after sitting and ordering I'm told they lost the remote so the game is only on a tiny TV on the opposite side of the bar where there is no high top seating. I wouldn't dock a single star for that though. The reason for the one star is that the food is terrible and grossly overpriced. The lobster soup was the best of all we ordered and it was pretty mediocre. No sherry, cream, nor lobster to be found. The tuna was the worst I've ever had and should not be served. Really I should've sent it back, but my son dug in first and ate two pieces, so I felt bad sending it back. I begrudgingly ate my two pieces while my wife only had one. The deviled eggs had overcooked shrimp and a spec of prosciutto. The crab cake was tiny and mediocre. Finally, the mahi dish was maybe a 3 ounce portion with bits of pineapple scattered around basic orzo pasta. The fact that the majority of the few patrons there all ordered fried chicken and Mac n cheese should've been a hint. The restaurant may be by the water, but they are NOT a seafood restaurant. Oh and they charged me 4 extra dollars for "rocks" since I ordered Bourbon on the rocks. We had a shit meal and two drinks each for $175!!! Truly one of the worst dining experiences that I've ever had.
