This coffee house/roastery is right around the corner from where I stay when I'm in Seattle, WA (Capitol Hill). I stumble in every single time I'm out wandering around for an afternoon breve and to purchase beans. As a former barista and coffee aficionado, I had a lot of questions about the roasting process, which they perform in-house. The staff was more than happy to answer and talk about their beans, etc. I was really impressed with their depth of knowledge. This is one of the few coffee houses I know of that actually sells Huehuetenango beans (when they are in season and do no run out). *IN LOVE* I love, love, love these beans. I recently purchased some Tanzanian beans, which I am eager to try out. Beans can be pricey, but they are worth it. *points at self* Not a Starbucks girl. read more

We got a hot chai latte and coffee. Both were nasty. Chai was luke warm and watered down. Coffee didn't have good flavor and was also luke warm. Service sub par. Waste of time and money. Covid - one half of store was off limits. Three tables on other half. Why not spread out tables for more customers? Grouping people on one side doesn't make sense. read more

Fabulous place to work on laptops, however you got to get there a bit early to secure a good spot. Due to covid some tables are not being utilized, so it makes it harder to be comfortable. The drinks are good, but are a bit more expensive. The Hot cocoa was more milky with a sprinkle of chocolate, not my fav but if you are feeling it no judgment :). There are a few locations throughout the city. I went to the shop on E Pike St. There was not a hint of bitterness in my latte. The drink was very smooth and foamy from top to bottom. I also thought the shop was a good spot to do some work. The décor was very hip, modern, and comfortable. Not great. Ordered a 12 Oz. Cherry lavender latte and got served a large iced milk. I went back to explain that my drink didn't taste like anything and that it was bigger than the size I ordered so I don't think I grabbed the correct order. The girl at the counter insisted it was the right drink, no matter what I said. It wasn't. I threw the latte out and went somewhere else. read more

Victrola is a cute coffee with bright natural light, an open floor plan, and a decent amount of seating. They have around 10 small tables, a large shared table in the center of the room, and a small bar with stools along the window. They were playing hip hop and orchestral music at a tolerable volume for conversation. On a Saturday afternoon, it wasn't as busy as its popular neighbor (Starbucks Reserve, just a block away and filled to the brim), but it was crowded and competition for seats was pretty fierce. I still managed to find a spot on the shared table to sip a kombucha and send some emails with the free wifi. I didn't order any coffee drinks (so I can't speak to those), but if the constant influx of customers and happy people were any indication, they must at least be decent. read more

Try to get some sugar for my matcha and the barista gave me a hard time told me it was in the corner and if wasn't there they didn't have any. It's a coffee shop You should have sugar in a coffee shop doesn't make any sense and the barista could have offered me some simple syrup or vanilla I would have paid for it at the beginning had I known the matcha wasn't sweet like the barista said it was. This is my first time at this coffee shop I had a hard time finding the sugar The barista was not going to help me. My partner has been coming here for years he will not be coming here anymore. read more

Oh yes, that macaroon is amazing! I was eyeing it when we first ordered our drinks but decided I wasn't very hungry. However, so many people ordered it, and it was so big and looked so delicious that I had to go back and order it myself. Totally worth it! This place is bustling. It was 4pm on a Monday afternoon (President's Day) and they were packed, lots of people on their laptops. Had pretty good coffee: was very light and not too sweet, but the espresso wasn't very strong. Both the iced and hot latte were very good. I also had a couple of pastries here, but I wouldn't really recommend them. They forgot to warm up my croissant, so the bread was very stiff and the ham and cheese inside was very tough. read more

I got a vanilla latte here ($5.10 after tax) and it was perfect! It came with a little design which was cute and photo worthy. It was also perfectly sweet and I didn't need to add any extra sugar. It was also perfectly warm so I didn't burn my tongue when I first drank it. The service here was also very quick and friendly. I got my drink in like 5 minutes. The atmosphere was very calm too - a lot of people were working or studying. It was still a little pricey for me but def a great alternative to the Starbucks reserve right across the street which would be double the price for a latte. read more

Great customer service! I originally ordered the Iced Chai Latte, but for some reason, it was really heavily spiced and I just didn't like it at all. I hesitantly asked to change it to a nonfat iced latte, and they agreed even though they were extremely busy!! The new drink tasted a lot better, and had a deep coffee flavor. Much appreciated! Great establishment that genuinely cares about its customers! I'd say drinks or food are worth the price if you have a friendly and caring staff to complement them :) read more

What fantastic coffee and treats! We ordered a handful of things as were in town for a wedding and wanted to treat some of our friends. I don't remember all the pastries and desserts we ordered but everyone was really happy with the selection. In terms of coffee - we ordered a misto, latte, cold brew and a decaf coffee. The cold brew is where it's at and I have to say that this was one of the better decaf coffees I've had! It was really delicious, not too overpowering but still had a decent kick to get us through the festivities. I'm pretty sure we were here everyday getting coffee ;) The space is really inviting and I could see how this becomes the everyday work space; or the weekend meet-up. read more

Chai latte tasted really good and the foam with the cinnamon on top added some nice flavor. The music is loud and lots of conversation so not the best location if you want a quiet place to study. They have window seating, some small tables for 1/2 people, and a big table in the middle. read more

New to the neighborhood, first time stopping in. I like the fact that it is open before 8am. The place was quiet and only a few customer at 7:00am. I like that! Based on how good the coffee is, I am sure there are lines later in the morning! I alway order a plain latte for my first visit. If they can't do that right...I don't return. Well this place knocked it out of the park!! Smooth, rich taste without being burnt or bitter. I will become a regular. They do have some food as well, not just Pastries. read more

Reason for 2 stars is horrible customer service. Staff are very cold and not very helpful. I was recently there and left behind a bag on one of their tables. When I realized I was missing the bag I called to see if it was there and some guy said he did not see it. He even "checked" with his colleagues. I was close by so decided to check for myself and sure enough, my bag was right in front of their face, exactly where I left it. When I told them that they had lied and not bothered checking when I called they just shrugged their shoulders. Their coffee was okay but even if it was the best in the world, with their "I could care less about you" attitude I guarantee I will never return. read more

How can you not like a place who cares about their craft?? Seattle coffee does not equal Starbucks! Well, it sure seem like it when you're here in Seattle. Starbucks coffee is literally on every block in the city~ I just love these little independent coffee shops who make great tasting coffee. Nice clean place, roasting their beans, & providing friendly service! They are a block up the street from the giant Starbucks Roastery. If the crowd/tourists are overwhelming - definitely visit this place. Not a giant coffee mogul like Starbucks but definitely a giant in flavor~ read more

Both counter folks were personable and welcoming. I was able to sit at a two top and remain cool during my brief visit on that hot Tuesday early afternoon. They've been an indie (Cafe Hagen/Freya) that has expanded to many locations: here in SLU, two on Queen Anne, downtown on 5th, at Dexter, the Waterfront, Freya in Pike Place Market and Nordic Museum in Ballard, plus sites over in Bellevue and Kirkland. Victrola Coffee Roasters - Beacon Hill 3215 Beacon Ave S, Seattle, WA 98144 I have been a loyal Victrola customer for over 14 years. I live in North Beacon Hill, I've supported this shop consistently, and until recently I had never experienced anything but friendly service from the baristas here. Unfortunately, that changed -- and it changed enough that I will not be returning as long as one particular employee remains on staff. The first incident happened over a year ago, shortly after this barista was hired. I had accidentally left a small handmade keepsake on a table -- something I created in 1996 and that holds personal meaning for me. When I returned about ten minutes before closing to retrieve it, I asked her if she had seen it. She said she didn't remember anything like that. As she spoke, I noticed the bussing tub she had just set down. My keepsake was shoved in among dirty napkins and used cups. I was shocked. I pointed it out and asked, "Did it not occur to you that this might belong to a customer?" Instead of acknowledging the situation or offering even a basic apology, she turned away and said, "I don't have time for this stress," and "I need to close out." No recognition, no empathy, no responsibility -- nothing. But making it clear it was not to be discussed. The second incident happened on 7/6/2026, just after the shop opened at 7 AM. I came in early for coffee. While speaking casually about her country's history, she suddenly became visibly agitated, raised her arms, half‑covered her ears, and said loudly, "I don't care... I don't want to hear a history lesson..." I stopped immediately, raised my hands with my palms facing her and said "OK. OK! I get it!" I quietly stood up from the table and walked to the small service sink and dumped out my full cup of coffee that I had had one sip of and left. I had a bad "taste" in my mouth, in addition to the cancer tumor I already have in it. As I walked out, she called after me, "Goodbye J***," in a tone that made the situation feel even more dismissive. Today, I stopped in briefly to check a newspaper item. She refused to acknowledge me at all. I have never been treated this way by any other Victrola employee -- not once in fourteen years. This barista's behavior was disrespectful, unprofessional, and completely out of line for someone working in customer service. A corporate-scripted apology will not fix this. The damage is done. I paid good money from my limited Social Security income for coffee, for a welcoming environment to a local and senior, a bit of pointless simple conversation, even admitting that I do talk too much, and for basic human respect, of which I have always shown to all the staff there. Never have I criticized anyone for any reason. I have always been kind to all that have worked there. Instead, I walked away feeling dismissed, insulted, and frankly stunned. I will not return to the Beacon Hill location as long as this callous and insensitive employee represents the company. The onus falls directly on Sebastian Simsch - Founder of Seattle Coffee Works, overseeing Victrola operations after acquisition. If this kind employee conduct suites him to represent an establishment of Seattle coffee culture and customer service, then it's time to spend my money elsewhere, as he would be more interested in just that. The money. Victrola has been part of my neighborhood life for over a decade. It's disappointing that one employee's lack of empathy and professionalism has ended that relationship. Walking into Victoria Coffee Roasters near Pike Place, I was initially charmed by the stellar playlist setting the vibe. I was in high spirits, eager to enjoy the mesmerizing process of latte art, camera in hand to capture the intricate pour--because, let's be honest, there's something magical about watching milk transform into a fleeting work of art. But that joy fizzled out faster than a flat espresso. The barista, oozing self-important attitude, shot me a look and demanded to know if I was filming her after enthusiastically thanking her. Let's be clear: my lens was trained on the latte pour, not her unwarranted ego. The sheer nerve of assuming she was the star of my shot was laughable, especially in a place swarming with tourists snapping pics of everything from flying fish to street performers. This is Pike Place, if I said yes, would she ask for a bigger tip? That single interaction turned the whole experience bitter. The coffee itself? Decent, but nothing special enough to justify the haughty vibe. It's as if the staff thinks they're gracing you with their presence by serving a wildly overpriced latte. I recently had a meeting with clients at this location and was extremely disappointed by the experience. First and foremost, the absence of zero sugar syrups is concerning, as it excludes individuals with diabetes from enjoying their beverages. While I understand the establishment aims to be inclusive to all, this lack of options is a significant oversight. Moreover, I witnessed an unsettling situation involving a homeless individual who appeared unkempt and emitted an unpleasant odor. It was alarming to see him allowed in the café, especially as he handled items that other customers would use, such as coffee stirrers and water cups. Given the circumstances, it raised serious hygiene concerns, particularly in a place that serves food and drinks. To my surprise, instead of addressing the situation, a staff member approached him warmly, greeting him by name and asking him to move aside so she could take out the garbage. This response lacked the necessary judgment for maintaining a safe and sanitary environment for all patrons. Bad attitude but amazing cup. I walked up to the counter and saw a sign that said to order from the end of the counter. Since I wasn't at the end of a counter, I asked the lady behind the counter where to order. She snapped at me and just said, 'I will serve you when I have time'. ;she didn't even hand me my change, just set it on the counter and walked away. I ordered and got my coffees to go. The coffee was supposed to be french pressed but she poured it out of a thermos. Then she gave me my wife's mocha and I walked out. I dropped my coffee outside but amazingly the top didn't come off. My wife said the mocha wasn't drinkable and my "French pressed Sumatra" wasn't anything special. With all the local coffee shops in town, I won't go to this one again. read more

EH. the coffees good. the atmosphere fine. i just don't like how the lids are far away from where you're actually handed your drink. its odd. i just wanna be handed a coffee and then immediately dart outside and be on my way. Instead you're forced into this balancing act with the coffee and have to to make it over to the block of wood where they keep the lids. It's always a mess and the bottom of your cup WILL get sticky and you've just wasted a good 2 minutes of your life when it would have taken the barista all of like 2 seconds to put a lid on it for you. read more

The macaroons were awesome and huge...one of my favorite things to get at this place and I've come here probably ten times now. Staff was very kind even though they were really busy. They will also customize the drinks for you. I wanted less sweetness in my coffee and they made it for me the second time without any problem. Very nice and understanding as well as accomodating. I come here because the ambience is great. Food is also high quality (much better than Bauhaus!). Another bonus is the great music. Finally, I love the high bar-level tables that give patrons the option of working while standing. This keeps me off my rear end. FYI: The coffee is NOT dark-roasted - it's not their thing. Literally the worst coffee I've ever had! Stopped in with my girlfriend and we both got a vanilla iced coffee, which we promptly threw into the first dumpster we passed after leaving because it was completely unpalatable. I love coming here and settling in for a few hours to work; the huge windows let in lots of light, it's busy but quiet enough to focus, and I enjoy the ambience.
