Overall (5 stars): This is hands down my favorite coffee shop in all of the United States. Walk in, grab a latte, and feel your soul warm. The coffee is so incredibly smooth, but simultaneously complex. I don't buy into the trend that bitterness = better coffee. Victrola lattes are strong in flavor without any sour or bitter notes... in a perfect kind of way. It's the only coffee shop I still think about years after trying it for the first time. read more

Victrola coffee is pretty good, but I wasn't a huge fan of the atmosphere. Seats we're pretty uncomfortable, wifi is extremely spotty (it was out for almost two hours when I went). There's a big selection of food but most of the lunch foods are boxed and not fresh. Giving this place three starts because I love their drip coffee. 12 oz with tip is around $3. read more

A nice coffee shop for people who really like coffee. If phrases like "our rotating single origin espresso" perk up your ears, then this is probably your kind of coffee shop. If you prefer your coffee blended with caramel and whipped cream, then GTFO! Starbuckland is across the street, buddy! But seriously, this place is very nice. I like the side of sparkling water that comes with a doppio espresso. I like that you can literally watch the beans get roasted in the other room if you come at the right time of day. Good solid coffee in a trendy environment. I don't have much preference between the atmospheres of many of Seattle's independent coffee shops (see Caffe Vita, Ladro, Stumptown, etc.). Victrola is yet another independent coffee shop serving up a quality cup of coffee or espresso. The prices seem a little on the high side but not unreasonably so. Best crema in Seattle! Victrola and Tougo are definitely the two most outstanding coffee shops in the city, and Victrola manages to hold it together in spite of having multiple locations. Before I came to Seattle, I was told by my favourite barista to go to the trinity of Vs - Victrola, Vivace, Vita. I made my trek to Victrola and was not disappointed. The pour-over and espresso shots were perfect. I love how spacious the cafe is, and that they do cupping on Wednesdays. Definitely will be going to more of those in the future. The baristas know what they're doing, but are super chill and love a good chat. The only thing I craved was a Cortado, and it just didn't taste right, either because they used a lower fat content cream or the espresso was too bold. Come here for work, an afternoon with a book, or just a quick espresso break in your day. It gets pretty packed with people on weekends, but is open early enough for the morning people. read more

Can't believe I didn't come here earlier! I love how this coffee shop has a lot of natural lighting and open space, so it's pretty comfortable to study here. I was craving a Chai Latte because I had a pretty bad one earlier in the week, so I got that. I liked how they asked if I liked my Chai on the spicier side, which shows that the baristas actually want to make drinks right instead of just following a recipe :) The chai I got was delicious, milky, and just the right balance of flavors and sweetness. There's free Wifi here as other people mentioned, and the baristas were nice. I really like this place, but I'll have to come back and try their other coffees to give this place their 5th star! read more

Fantastic coffee - definitely among the most flavorful pour overs I've ever had (and probably the first one I tried back in 2012). It's certainly not cheap, but quality, well-roasted beans are worth the price. The menu always includes a lot of diverse offerings covering all the popular growing regions. I was so pumped to come to Victrola. I was coming in to Seattle for a quick weekend trip and had this place circled as one of my "must try's" to get a mocha. Service was very friendly and my mocha looked very good (as you can see in the picture). However after the first few sips I could tell that it lacked any espresso flavor. It was definitely one of the softer mochas I've ever had and had too much milk. It just lacked that oomph. In hindsight I should have ordered at least one extra espresso shot, but i had assumed the mocha would pack that espresso flavor I was looking for. It's too bad because I was really looking forward to this place, but it just didn't meet my lofty expectations. Not the worst mocha I've ever had, just somewhere in the middle and unmemorable. I'd like to come back on my next trip, as maybe I came in on the wrong day. read more

This is my second visit to Victrola. I'm from out of town but love coming here because of the high-quality coffee! 5/5 for my coffee. Got a small drip which was $2.15. It was their Brazilian blend and it was very low in acidity, not too hot, and generally delicious. 5/5 for service. The Barista was really kind and even though I came in just a few minutes before they closed shop, he was really nice and chatted with me for a few minutes. He gave me restaurant and cocktail bar recommendations which was really helpful! Definitely make a stop at Victrola if you're in the area, you won't regret it. read more

I la-la-laaav Victro-la! I've never had a bad coffee experience here. Their cappuccino's are so serious. Always ristretto, always smooth, with the atomic mushroom foam top. One time I switched it up, and got myself a latte and the genius behind the bar flawlessly made a pretty heart design on top. *swoooon!* Never had a pastry here, and don't care to. The coffee itself is so exceptional that you don't need a distraction. I will say if you're in a hurry, keep on walking. Whatever they do behind the bar takes a lil bit longer than usual, but it's so damn worth it. read more

Victrola is one of three fine coffee shops near my office, but because it is a.) not my #1 choice (that's Stumptown), and b.) not directly along my walk to work, it is the one I visit least. That being said, I do really enjoy visiting Victrola. The coffee drinks here are top-notch. I can't remember ever having a bad one, and they roast their own beans on the premises. I trust that the baristas at a coffee roaster will know how to make a terrific coffee drink, and Victrola is no exception. The crema on my Americano is (pretty much) always perfect, and although I find their cappuccinos a little on the milky side (personal preference), I don't have any complaints. The room is big, somewhat industrial with concrete floors and lots of wood and windows. In the back of the cafe are large windows allowing you to watch the entire roasting process. I've only been around to see bits and pieces of it, but it's pretty excellent to watch. The front of the cafe also has large windows that let in a lot of natural light and give a great view of Pike Street. Despite its size and the roasting going on in the back, the cafe is always very quiet and conducive to low-volume conversation. If they have music playing, I am mostly unaware of it. And although I am a music lover, it's nice not to be bombarded with loud music when you jus want to enjoy your coffee and company. The ultimate testament to Victrola's inviting, low-key atmosphere is that I feel comfortable bringing job interview candidates here. The baristas here are very knowledgeable, and always pull great shots. They are laid back, generally quiet, and always cordial. Baristas on Capitol Hill seem to have a bad rap as being unbearable hipsters (sometimes warranted), but the baristas at Victrola are just nice people who maybe also are a little more "hip" than me. Victrola also offers free "Public Cuppings," the name of which makes me giggle inappropriately. I have not attended one (I fear my palette is not quite refined enough), but they seem to be the equivalent of a wine tasting. And that is a pretty excellent example of their coffee expertise. Finally, they do serve some food, which appears to be prepared elsewhere. I have only had the Lumberjack Breakfast sandwich, which is A-OK. But they have other sandwiches and foods for lunch as well as some fine looking pastries. (Actually, writing this review makes me want to visit more often. It does sound awfully nice.) read more

Great coffee! Had a good taste, not super bold but a good medium. They have nice large tables, perfect for spreading out if you are working or studying. There isn't a ton of seating, but we surprisingly found parking and a table quite easily at 11 on a Saturday morning. The baristas were super friendly, which is a huge plus. read more

Amazing. Very friendly staff! When I went back to get a different drink after realizing I ordered a drink I didn't like (even though it was made well!) She said, not to worry about it, talked about different options, and then made me a new (more expensive) drink at no charge! They have free coffee cupping classes once a week so that you can meet the staff, roasters, and manager and taste their newest batches while learning about the process. 1,000 stars to them. read more

Good coffee here. So smooth. And free refills. Yesss. Very chill music, which is not intrusive to my study but rather complements it - big bonus! Interesting lay out, no cozy chairs, and you may end up sharing the large tables, but I was able to focus there for a few hours without feeling uncomfortable. Friendly staff too. Ahh ... you gotta love Seattle and their abundance of awesome coffee houses. This place is large with plenty of seating and places for you to plug in your power cord. No need to fight for the seat next to a power outlet because I believe there are plenty throughout the cafe. There's also free wifi! The best part ... the coffee is awesome! Smoothest espresso ever. . . like a thick, freshly squeezed juice. Hung out here one morning while I was in town on business. I had a macchiato, and espresso, and an almond croissant while I worked. The macchiato was perfectly composed, so I had to splurge and taste the espresso. I wasn't disappointed. The almond croissant was also great- even thought it wasn't very flaky. Its a perfect place for studying/working, people watching, or meeting with a friend. That's awesome, because good coffee places are usually good for one thing or another, but not all. The tables are big, the outlets are plentiful, and the wifi is fast if you need to crank out some work. The crowd is eclectic and interesting and the space is bright and airy for people-watching.
