Ok first off let me say I've been in the kitchen for more then 6 years cooking nothing more then Viet cuisines. So I'm out with the fam right looking for pho and we see this little place called VIET PHO alright? So we go into the tiny little place right and all I see is tons of people waiting for food. I wasn't surprise since the last pho spot I came to had tons of people waiting. Anyways we finally get seated he was a pretty nice waiter and just from peeking into the kitchen he was probably dealing with some huge stress. Three people were in the kitchen at the time the server, a prep chef, and I think the head chef was in there not very sure cuss she doesn't look like one. My family a family of 4 ordered pho dac biet and were sitting there for about an hour. They weren't happy but I had a different idea as in the longer it takes then I expect good quality. The manager of the shop came then food started coming out. We eventually got our food and started digging in. I checked the pho to see if it had the key requirements all the meat was overcooked, the broth was light but had tons of oil?! At least the beef tripe was decent. Pho was 1/5 but I was in completely shook when bun bo hue started to come out. To not even master one of the products on your menu you have bun bo hue I'm pretty sure since you don't have that type of time you used the same broth for bun bo hue. I have more to say but that's quite a bit for now. So overview of there food 1/5, service 1/10 , and the place looks like a mess. Do I recommend you go here? Definitely the best place for Pho in Reno Hands Down!!!!! My wife and I come here all the time and she always gets #25 and I get an order of spring rolls. Definitely one of my favorite places to grub out at. Oh, and the peanut sauce for the spring rolls is simply out of this world!!!! I've tried like 5 other places which I won't name out of respect, but their food isn't quite as good as Viet Pho and their peanut sauce comes up wayyyyy short of the quality that this one is. read more

This is probably my least favorite pho restaurant in Reno. I ordered online, arrived about ten minutes later. Took about 5 min to be greeted. Food was brought right out, paid for my order, and left. Upon arriving and unpacking my order, I thought the meat for my soup was missing. However, the already put it in the broth. Therefore- it was extremely over cooked, chewy, and impossible to eat. Spring roll was okay, upon unwrapping it from the package, it completely fell apart. Very pricey for smaller portions than every other place I've been. Disappointed and will not be returning. A bad phone line made it difficult for us to understand each other when I ordered, so when I picked up our lunch and said she had misunderstood when she made me large soups for my kids, she only charged me for a small! As most people who first discover the amazing-ness that is Pho, I've been completely addicted and have been trying most of the restaurants in town. I've been to both viet phos (one here in Reno and one in Carson) and to be honest they're both my least favorite. This one I've gone to a few times and there's only half the cup of broth. Like literally half a cup of broth. The Carson one the noodles were crunchy! I let them soak for a while but they never really got softer. On top of all of this, they are the most expensive- especially to go. I spent about $13 (with their credit card processing fee ) for half a cup of pho and crunchy noodle pho. Honestly you can find a much better place for the same price, if not cheaper. read more

I was there last week--the first time in several months, as my job had not taken me to Reno for awhile. NOTHING HAS CHANGED!! Yay!! the food is still wonderful, the service friendly and attentive. Please not, this is NOT a fast food place!! Sandwiches, bun dishes, etc. are prepared to order and worth the wait. TRY THE VIETNAMESE TACOS!!they are new here and i laughed with the owner about them--asked what was in them and he said "our stuff". and he was right! a warm corn tortilla with cilantro, onions, cukes, nuc nam and tender shreds of pork. Lovely! and a great price--which i confess i cant remember, but for three you get a nice lunch for les than $5. Have some!! PS i dont understand some of the reviews on the side--it sounds like a completely different place. Very Good Pho and I have dined at many Pho places across the country. Very lovely and attentive owners/staff. The owner is so gracious and friendly to everyone who walks thru the door. Quality, no-frills food. I eat lunch here 3-5 times a week. Fresh ingredients and authentic dishes. They don't dumb their food down. My only complaints would be the scarcity of napkins (I always have to ask for more) and the occasionally sticky table. Delicious food at fair prices. read more

This place needs some improvement. Water took a while to make it to the table. $4 for Vietnamese coffee, which is basically espresso and some sweetened condensed milk is overpriced. We ordered an appetizer of the fresh spring rolls, that came with plastic wrap still on them. Every other Vietnamese restaurant in town serves their peanut sauce fresh and warm. The cold pasty sauce turned me off to the entire dish. Nevermind it came with our entrees.Why call it an appetizer? Dish took forever to come out of the kitchen. The #20 that on menu lists that it comes with Shrimp, came with none. When asking the waitress she had to check the menu herself and finally came halfway through our meal. I'm a bit biased in my love for Viet Pho since I have known the owner and have been a regular at his restaurant for many years. I had yet to frequent their doorstep since they had moved from their location on Plumb to a larger restaurant a year ago. I was greeted enthusiastically and warmly by the owners, and ordered some of my favorites: the spring roll, and the beef rice noodle bowl. This time I also tried their house made lemonade and the seafood topped french bread appetizer. Everything is made in house. The lemonade was hand squeezed and had the right amount of tart. My bowl had generous portions of noodles, and meat. My spring roll had fresh cooked still-warm shrimp and cold crisp veggies. The seafood topped french bread shows Mr. Tran's influence from the years he spent in France. Good to see them thriving in their new place. read more

They have really yummy egg rolls, but the pho is just okay. The prices are higher here than most other pho restaurants in Reno I have been too. It's kind of hit or miss whether you get a good waiter/waitress. I have had good ones, then another one didn't even ask what I wanted to drink. Also, when walking in, they don't have any kind of signage on the door or windows, which can be confusing. So yeah, not a bad place to go, but it isn't my favorite. read more

Not impressed with the level of service or quality of the pho. The wait for the food was long and had to remind the worker of our drink orders. Ordered the goi cuon, and it arrived wrapped in plastic wrap. Does it mean it was not freshly rolled? The #3 pho is suppose to come with tendon. Sadly, no tendon in sight. Worst place I ever been. Pho is nasty asf, also there duck barely have any meat! Bad customer services and the lady is always on her iPad!

I feel like the quality has dropped a little over time, we used to eat there pretty regularly when it first opened. I'm using rose-colored glasses to review this place for sure, but it deserves a try. The location isn't exactly easy to find right off of Moana, but once you do, the noodles are decent! A lot of places just have soup that is too sweet, or too salty. This place had a nice blend of flavors in their broth that kept through every mouthful, but also weren't going to be overpowering. I'm no food expert, but I'm pretty sure my vermicelli noodles should not have had short, black, curly hairs in it.... yuck! I found it stuck to a piece of pork about 1/2 way through my meal. I'm not a snob and I realize that these things sometimes happen. I mentioned it to the waiter simply because I thought they'd want to know - I'd want to know if it were my restaurant. He told me he'd be right back and took the hairy pork away into the kitchen. He returned and told me that I should have told him at the beginning of my meal. There was no apology, he just took my half finished meal away and gave me the check. Again, I'm not a food snob and I know stuff happens, but this was poor customer service. Had to try after reading the great reviews on Yelp and it did not disappoint!! Omg the Banh Mi was an explosion of flavors including cilantro with a few hits of hotness - incredible!!! Did take-out and it was ready in 10 minutes. Ordered it with the Grilled pork. This is the slow food that I need during lunch. Quick, easy and healthy and so delicious. Will be back!! Tried the fried banana for desert - not my fav - would not get that again. But that sandwich....yes please!! read more

Mixed feelings about this restaurant. Service is extremely slow. The server got my order wrong. I ordered chicken porridge and got fish porridge, but ate it anyway because I was too hungry to wait for them to make the right dish. On the other hand, the porridge was really good! I can't hate slow service if they give me something that's worth the wait. Other negatives: My husband ordered a spicy soup dish which wasn't that great. He also ordered a vietnamese iced coffee, which was brought out in a single serve coffee dripper. We were finished with our meals before the coffee cup was even half full. The pork banh mi has become an addiction. Just as good at the Carson City location too (but I think the ones in Reno tend to have a few more jalapeno slices - so bonus points for that)! I haven't tried much else, but my kids like the chicken noodle pho. This is my comfort food. The whole time I was pregnant I would want this 2 or 3 times a week. So yummy. We would do the rare steak soup for me and BBQ beef noodles for my boyfriend. I love the steamed pork buns, they are perfect and the potstickers are not as greasy as most places. We always grab it to-go so that I can eat at home.
