    Beef vermicelli bowl
    Meg O.

I always go out of my way when I'm in Chico for the beef and egg roll vermicelli bowl. The egg rolls are sooooo good. The staff is friendly, the food is fresh and comes out quickly. 10/10 would recommend!!

Soup was warm and mildly savory but was otherwise not the herbally beefy umami flavor I expect from a good bowl of pho. I couldn't really taste the star anise or much of anything else other than a mild savory beef broth. Weirdly they also sprinkle in black pepper into the soup? In terms of the beef in the pho, it was mostly beef balls and some small strips of dry beef. They have other Vietnamese noodle dishes and rice dishes so might try those instead next time. Seems popular enough to have so many people coming in for takeout. Plus for having a private parking lot in the back Comes with basil, jalapenos, bean sprouts

Beef pho: Beef ball and beef slices

Came here the first time to try their Bun Bo Hue (Spicy Beef Noodle) because this is the only Vietnamese restaurant in Chico that serves it.. it wasn't too bad, they also give blood chunks with the dish which is good - if you're adventurous, definitely try it! The noodles that were served were thin vermicelli noodles, which is a different take on this dish because BBH is usually served with thicker vermicelli noodles. But overall, not too bad - I know I can come here if I'm ever craving BBH noodles.. Came back a second and third time for their beef pho. The first time, the broth was a little sweeter.. the second time, the broth was a little saltier, but that's okay.. i like both styles of broth. They do give a good amount of beef slices and beef ball in the bowl and it's pretty well portioned. However, I do wish they had other options for pho, like combination pho with: tripe, flank steak, beef ball, rare steak, brisket etc.. something more than the 3-4 that they have on the menu.. The service is pretty slow .. we went during a lunch rush once - that took a really long time.. then went on a Sunday morning when they opened and that took even longer... there was only one other person that was in the restaurant when we arrived & the food did take a really long time to get to us...Our server was yawning the whole time and he just looked sooo tired.. But - overall, after trying EVERY Vietnamese restaurant in Chico, I can honestly say this is one of the top 2 places to get good pho. I would highly recommend AND I like that their prices are still reasonable!!! Their bowl of pho is still under $15. Please keep it like this.!! Giving 4 out of 5 - because I like that their price is still relatively reasonable for their food.

I post about them every time I eat here but my goodness so good and fresh! The fresh mint and cucumbers....so dang good. Got B4 and an order of eggrolls as usual. If you haven't gone....run

Incredibly long wait time. 20 minutes after being sat to be greeted, 30 minutes to have just water served.

    Not open anymore?

They were closed at the start of covid, but are open again until 9!

    Are they still open?

Yeah but maybe under new ownership? I ordered my usual B10 and the broth tasted a little different. Granted I havent been here in some months prior to their August reopening so it might just be me

The broth I think tastes the same so that's good. However, I noticed that the beef slices were so much tougher and dryer now. Previously, the slices were thin and slightly rare when coming out so they weren't over done. Now, the cuts are thick and chunky and much tougher to chew. Interestingly, they just dump the cilantro into the soup directly rather than have it on the side for you to garnish. They still provide a sizable pieces of tripe, which I like. The tendon is smaller and not as big chunks as before. Sadly, I left a bit disappointed. I might try again in another couple of months to see if they return to the previous level of quality.

The pho also came out with only been sprouts, basil, and lime. I had to ask for extra cilantro otherwise there would have been none in the soup? Pho without cilantro or rau răm just feels lacking. On top of all this, the combination pho should come with tripe and tendon, I only found a few measly pieces of tripe and tendon (see pictures). The brisket and beef slices were a bit dry. I think I would have preferred it to be a bit more rare when coming out rather than tough and over cooked. Seems not many places in Chico do that. Now some of the good. The beef they do give is plentiful and I didn't really feel like it needed more. There was a good amount of brisket slices and beef balls. The pho noodles were cooked and not clumpy.

The restaurant is super cute, the breakfast food came out hot and fast which was a problem, because I made the rookie mistake of bringing my college student. No regrets. Service was great, food was delicious, vibes were immaculate.

Cute spot with booths all over and a friendly staff. We were greeted and seated right away. I ordered the breakfast sandwich which is on a croissant with smoked bacon strips, avocado, mixed greens, bacon jam and two eggs. Instead of the potatoes, I got fruit for an additional $3.49. The sandwich was ok and I usually like bacon jam but I didn't like how sweet it was on this. The fruit was a sliver of orange, a very soft and super thin sliver of flavorless watermelon, a few slices of strawberries, a handful of blueberries and a ton of thin sliced apple. It wasn't great and I gave the apples away. I would have preferred just berries and for the additional cost, it would have been worth it. Randy ordered The (Not So) Standard Benedict and said it was only ok. He didn't like the super soft potatoes that came with it so he didn't eat many of them. His very thin slice of watermelon on his plate was also soft and flavorless. Our friend ordered the French toast and said it was good. I don't think we'd go back but we really appreciated the attentive server we had.
