I have a love/hate relationship with View 202 I have been to View 202 five separate times now. Two of the times were 5 stars, the other three times 1 star. Last time I was there, it was a beautiful Sunday afternoon over the water. There was 4 people there. Like shockingly slow. If the chef and manager would just put in 5% more effort this place would be amazing. Their patio and views of the river are very amazing. Epic location. It could be so much, with just a little more effort. On Sundays, they have a random brunch menu that you are locked into basically all day. The drinks they pour are WEAK 90% of the time! Sometimes the food can be very good, and on some days you are like WTF?!?! My suggestions to the owner - Go find a Chef somewhere and steal him/her away to View 202 and revamp the menu just slightly. Invest some money in a rockin' chef. Go find a professional bartender somewhere and steal him/her away to View 202 and have a cool bar, with great pours, and cool drinks. (The View 202 wine room is epic, let's get people to talk about it) - Get your staff on the same page.... That patio should be packed nightly with great foods, drinks, and epic fired pizza's and flatbreads. But currently, it is dine at your own risk. It may be great... or it may be awful.... The food was great we both enjoyed our dinner, I had the halibut and my husband had the salmon, both were cooked just right, we both had cocktails, although they can put some more booze in it...lol... Service was very good, all staff were wearing masks and seating customers in a socially distance manner We started with the chef board and calamari and both were excellent. How is this establishment not have 5 stars?!? This review is about a month overdue, but I loved this place! From the pretty view outside to the amazing hospitality! I'm from the Bay Area and decided to elope up North near Redding. Searching on Yelp I found View 202. It was the best and prettiest restaurant in my style I could have hoped to find to have my wedding dinner. Katie was awesome! A life saver, and a joy to speak with. Her commutation was outstanding, customer service was fabulous, and she was super kind working with me to help make my wedding day be the perfect day! I enjoyed how she worked with my budget, gave me recommendations, and helped me with my floral arrangements! Anything I needed, she was very reliable! I highly recommend view 202. If you need to have a private event in the V room to ask to speak with Katie, she'll definitely be there to help you. I wish more restaurants have this type of hospitality. Thank you so much Katie! I appreciated all your help! Next I'd like to thank my server and florist Miguel, he did such an amazing job! We have a big family and he quickly got all our orders, and drinks out! Tldr: brunch is good but pricey. My friend and I came in for brunch on a Sunday morning. The two of us ordered the following to share: Tableside mimosas ($33)- bottle of champagne and 3 choices of juice. Amazing 10/10 can't go wrong with alcohol and fruit juice. Would definitely order this again Cinnamon donut holes ($10)- 3 larger size donut holes coated in sugar served with chocolate. I was surprised that it only came with 3 donuts holes. Each hole was pretty big (about 2-3 times the size of a typical donut hole) so I ate it with a fork and knife. The donut hole itself was pretty cakey but not like a cake donut, more like an actual cake. Tasty but not worth the money. Cali eggs Benedict with brunch potatoes ($16)- comes with avocado instead of Canadian bacon. I regret ordering the Cali version instead did regular bc the Cali version really tasted like it was missing the saltiness and savoriness that one would traditionally get from Canadian bacon. Everything else was pretty good. The Hollandaise is one of the best I've ever had. It was the perfect creamy consistency and the color was beautiful. The egg was poached to perfection and it was very satisfying watching the egg yolk run down the English muffin. The brunch potatoes were pretty tasty; not too greasy and generous portion. View Burger with side salad ($18 or $19)- ordered medium well but unfortunately the patty came out well done. My friend and I aren't too picky about the patty so we overlooked it but I still want to flag that for folks who are particular about meat. The overall burger was lacking flavor. It was dry and near flavorless. There was a bit of creamy orange colored sauce on the top bun but not enough to make a difference. There was some sort of fried onion layered inside the burger which added a nice variety of texture. If I ordered this item again, I would ask for bbq sauce. I think that would pair well with the fried onion :) The side salad was delicious. For a side salad it had an appropriate variety of veggies and a fair amount of dressing. Overall, the food is good but lacks seasoning. Pricy too and I'm not sure if the food is worth the money. Can't deny that the view is pretty though! read more

Loren and Chanel took amazing care of our table. They were friendly, personable, made recommendations for those of us who were undecided, and checked on our table frequently; not too little, not too much. For apps we enjoyed the calamari and general Tso nachos. I don't think I've ever dined at 202 and the table not order the same two appetizers; they are simply amazing hands down! Entrees: blackened salmon with mushroom risotto, Niman Ranch burger with fries, prime rib, ahi tuna and a white fish (name is escaping me). Everyone enjoyed their meals, I could tell by the near immediate death silence that fell over the table as the entrees arrived in near single file line. I ordered the burger. 202 you are the real MVP, for not serving frozen, pre made, boring patties! I was on the fence about what to order until Loren told me the buns were house made and burgers aren't stuffed in a freezer between parchment paper. Cooked to order, the beef was tender, well-seasoned, and the house pickles literally changed everything. Order some pickles folks, just trust me! Deserts: coconut flan, Greek yogurt parfait, creme brûlé and lava cake. Everyone was ready for bed after the scrumptious desert. Our guest of honor ordered the prime rib and loved it. Tough meat doused in butter makes me think that you think I am stupid. I think that patrons, more or less, come for the ambience outside. Speaking of which, has anyone yet told you that your patio furniture is gross and stained? Do you not notice? Do you also not notice that you have no bulbs left in your light fixtures inside? So, is that it? You just do a little sweep, sweep at the end of the night and go home? Your service is horrible too, but that should be the least of your concerns. I ate at the 4 Seasons in Beverly Hills not too long ago. It was delicious, perfect, taste made my eyes wide, service made me feel appreciated. Maybe ya'll can take a field trip and get some pointers. Maybe then it would justify the ridiculous expense of your entrees. Oh, and last but not least...desserts!! Tried this restaurant for the first time after a few recommendations from colleagues. Not impressive. Our table was dirty, the booth seats were sticky. Service was really good, our waiter was very nice and informative! I ordered the gnocchi and it was unpleasant to eat. The braised short rib had a greasy chewy texture and lacked salt or flavoring other than grease. It looked like canned cat food just dumped on a plate. The gnocchi was drier than a crouton, but also weirdly spongy (like if a sponge and a saltine cracker were mixed together, but without salt), and again no taste besides grease from the meat it sat on. For the price you pay, it's pretty disappointing. The calamari was the star of the show, and the ONLY reason why this restaurant is getting two stars. Took some friends on my birthday. I ordered a salad served ahead of my meal. The croutons on the salad were stale, and had a horrible taste. Seemed like they were store bought, and old. I happen to like pepper on my salad, but the server did not offer any, none on the table, and never saw him for another 15 minutes, so ate the salad as is (except the croutons). Had to ask for refills in the cocktails. I ordered the halibut. The presentation was gorgeous, but the halibut was overcooked and dry. The only saving grace was the sauce over the entire dish. We had our family holiday dinner here and it was scrumptious! Our server was super friendly and accommodating for our large group. I had the salmon, cinnamon apple mule and the creme brûlée. The salmon was really good- a little crispy on the outside and hot and flakey in the inside. It came with rice and asparagus that were also really good. I really like the cinnamon mule- the perfect drink for Christmas! And the creme brûlée was so good I didn't even get a photo. We sat at the south end of the patio, where the view was mostly blocked by the surrounding vegetation. It was a very warm evening. They had misters, which was nice, but our clothes were wet by the end of the meal. Service was great. The bread, drinks and appetizers were excellent. We especially liked the edamame and calamari. Meal was good but overpriced. My halibut plate was $45. Halibut was very good. The mixed veggies were okay. The potatoes looked like a cow patty that had been sitting under a lamp for sometime, and were not tasty at all. I give it a 3.5 stars overall. Both meals were delicious and well worth the price. For dessert we had the crembrule and chocolate lava cake. Though we were full from the meal we cleaned those plates as well. I included that in our reservation, as well as when our host asked if there was a special occasion, and it was very clearly printed on my man's ID when the server carded us. The table we were seated at on the patio was crusted with spills from previous patrons. We had to ask our busser for a rag to wipe it off. That was only after we waited a while for our drink order to be taken. The restaurant was nowhere near capacity when we arrived, maybe 25%? I was confounded by the poor service, so I can only assume they're short staffed. If that's how it is on a slow Tuesday, I don't even want to imagine their weekend rush... Now, the food itself is delicious. I ordered the filet mignon (whose price appears to have been hiked up to $48) medium-rare. It was very tender and juicy. The gravy glaze was delectable as well. My man had the sea bass and it was perfectly seared with a crispy crust. Our dessert, the peach cobbler, was taking a while to come out so I joked that they were still cooking the pie. Well, it was no joke because the ice cream and confection came out piping hot in a mini cast-iron dutch oven pot. This dish was also very tasty. The view of and proximity to the Sacramento River was ambient. The restaurant has a futuristic, modern atmosphere. The food is good, but not entirely creative. I went here with a large group around the holidays. The inside is nice, clean, and open. The large bar looked like a good place to grab a drink. The ambiance is typical American. The service was good. The staff checked off all the boxes in terms of pacing and what you expect at a restaurant. I ordered the BBQ chicken. I enjoyed it, but it had a couple of elements that are turnoffs to me and not to other people. The chicken still had the skin on the top and part of the bone was still there. Otherwise, the chicken was cooked perfectly and had great flavor. The asparagus was probably the best part and the mash was excellent. The bun was heated up in the morning or the day before maybe and served to me cold, the friend onions were probably from the bag from Costco and was stale and hard. I never received a call back. When we arrived we waited for several minutes. There was no one to greet us, no staff in sight. The sever was pleasant enough and kept calling us " lovlies" but was pretty much absent during our entire two hours there. another server brought our food to us. The restaurant did not appear busy in the least or it might have been more understandable. Our server never checked back with us during the meal but when we were done she offered to bring a box and refill our water glasses, but never did (sigh). We had to ask for our check from another server. The appetizer and entrees were descent. The price, reasonable. The view is what caused me to bring a guest there. I am not sure I will do that again. Fantastic view! This place is pretty! A really great menu, sadly they were out of quite a few things. What we got was expertly prepared and quite tasty. The ambiance is really worth the experience, but something is going on here. There's a disconnect between what's on the menu and what's available in the kitchen. I ordered a particular wine, but what they brought out was a different year. I had ordered based on a review of the one on the menu. But they discounted it as a show of good faith. The food is good. Their sauces on pastas can be much more plentiful. Mixed drinks are beautiful service is wonderful except for making sure your order was prepared properly. I go in and I ask for certain items and I ask for low oil, butter, cheese whatever it may be to make it low fat. This is not so that I can lose weight. It is a medical reason. If I ask for a quarter amount of cheese, please don't smother it with cheese. I am afraid to send it back because I don't know what might happen to my food if I do. Restaurants need to offer more options for people that might have gallbladder issues or other issues that might lead them to only have a little fat. Ok, we were very excited to have lunch here, but I have to say besides the nice service and very welcome staff, it was complete disappointment. Food was below average! Even family member who usually usually eats everything didn't like it. Salmon with risotto and vegetables was a disaster. Risotto resembled a rice pudding, vegetables were simply yellowish green beans (how exciting) and the salmon, cooked on right temperature but the ginger caramelised glaze was more like salty soy soup. Getting the caveat out of the way first, I've added the second star in consideration of the pandemic. With that said, the view is about the only thing worth your time at 202. As others have lamented, the service is pretty dismal and the food equally so. My partner's sandwich took 25 minutes to arrive, while the poke I ordered was brought out at the same time and was the same temperature. A hot chicken sandwich should not be the same temp as raw fish (both were slightly below "warm"). However, I will add that the restaurant was understaffed, which doesn't justify the quality of service or food but it does shift the blame from the staff to the management. To emphasize the lack of effort by ownership/management, the drink menus still had the heading of "Autumn 2020". Additionally, the TV at the bar scrolled through various beers, wines, and cocktails. When I enquired with the bartender about the offerings her reply was along the lines of 'I wouldn't trust those. They haven't been updated in a while. I don't think they're right'. At these prices I expect a lot more from a restaurant/bar. I would have gotten better food, service and drinks from an Applebee's (yikes). read more

Waited forever for drinks until we went up to the bar to get them ourselves, had to ask multiple times for refills of bread and water. Didn't get our water refilled until dessert after asking twice. The server kept saying someone else would be there but isn't that his job? The short rib gnocchi was 7 tiny fried pieces on top of a pile of meat with no sauce. We asked for well done meat on the burger & it was very red. They took 20min to ask what we wanted to drink, took 40min to bring our drinks - even water! We waited 1hr and half for somebody to come back and take our order. We were there at 12:10pm, we were seated 12:30pm and we didn't eat until 3pm and we waited till 4pm for a box. Very disappointed!! Food wasn't good and servers didn't help us when we complained about the mistakes, so, my mom took out her meat since she wanted well done & mine had a lot bacon.
