I tried Villa's Tacos 3, which is a seafood spin on the original spot. I actually came here first thinking it was the original location. After visiting the actual original and loving it, I came back to this location right after to try the seafood versions. I wasn't disappointed at all. I tried six different tacos. The sweet potato was a sneaky good choice and ended up being my favorite. I really liked the beer battered fish and the shrimp tacos. The octopus taco was also really good, and the Wagyu one tasted great. The Wagyu taco was 12$, which is a little pricey for a single taco but worth trying. The service was phenomenal and you have to try their Mexican chili oil. It's amazing and goes perfectly with these tacos. I'd buy a jar of just that chili oil if I could.

We have been to standard villas tacos location in highland park, which we liked. So we had to stop by the seafood location. Kicked it off with a cucumber and lemon drink, solid refreshing on a sunny day. Food wise: surf n turf taco (our runner up favorite dish), octopus taco (octopus cooked well, flavor was tasty and the potato pairs well), fried shrimp taco (the shrimp is well battered, but nothing crazy), ceviche (refreshing, citrus forward. Would like to see more protein), and the fried fish taco (well battered, a tier above the shrimp taco in terms of taste). They do stuff the tacos, it can get a bit messy. Overall, it's solid. However, we didn't walk away wow'd. We both preferred the standard villas location over the seafood spot in terms of food. Service was great. If you want to switch it up give this spot a try.

The tacos here are fantastic! Fish is what is on the menu at this location. We tried one of each and they were all extremely enjoyable! Service is wonderful, they are so friendly and upbeat. Not to mention hard-working. They get through the lines quickly with a smile. Prices are fair and the flavors are spot on! They do have a bit of outside seating or it is packaged well to go. Highly recommended if you are looking for some authentic and flavorful fish tacos in the area!

Second time at Villa's tacos and it did not disappoint! I had the octopus tacos and battered mahi tacos. The creamy chipotle sauce really hit the spot. Also got to try the cucumber agua frescas, so good on a hot day! Glad I came on a weeknight as there was ample seating. Great service even when they were overwhelmed with orders! Peak summer vibes eating these while the sun set and the metro passed through.

What was once La Estrella, one of my favorite spots to grab asada fries when I was in high school, is now home to the seafood-focused restaurant and third location from Villas Tacos, serving some very unique Japanese-Mexican fusion seafood tacos. When I arrived, there was only a small crowd with about two people ahead of me in line. The cashier was super kind and gave me a heads-up that the wait time would be around 30 minutes. I appreciated the transparency and decided to stick it out since I'd been wanting to try this place for a while. I ordered the Camarón Salvaje Mexicano taco, the Mar y Tierra taco, and an Oaxacan horchata, which came out to about $25. The wait ended up being closer to 45+ minutes, but I passed the time chatting with a friend on the phone and taking in the space. Since it was my first time visiting since they opened, I enjoyed admiring the murals and overall look of the restaurant. There's also seating in the back near the train tracks where I ended up enjoying my meal, though seating is limited. Flavor-wise, the Camarón Salvaje Mexicano taco was definitely the star of the show for me. The beer-battered shrimp was crunchy, fresh, and loaded with toppings. It was a little messy to eat, but honestly in the best way possible. The Mar y Tierra taco was OK, though not something I'd personally rush to order again. Unfortunately, the Oaxacan horchata didn't quite hit the mark for me. The texture was grainy and the flavor tasted somewhat watered down. While I waited, I noticed the crowd steadily growing and the energy picking up. The owner, Victor Villa, was recently featured during the Super Bowl Halftime Show alongside Bad Bunny, so I wasn't surprised to see the hype bringing people in. They're clearly doing something right, and I love seeing successful local businesses thrive in the neighborhood where I grew up. My only small gripe was the lack of personal space near the pickup area. When my name was called, some people waiting for their own orders were a little reluctant to move aside so I could grab my food. Totally understandable that everyone's excited for their tacos, but a little awareness and courtesy goes a long way. Overall, it was a fun and unique dining experience that I'm glad I finally got to try. I'd definitely come back for the shrimp taco, and I'm still curious to try the Wild Mahi Mahi taco and the ¡No Soy Pulpo! taco next time.

I'm a seafood girlie lately so this Villa's location was a must try for me. Same blue corn tortillas and salsa, just different and elevated protein options and fillings. There's one meat option, Mar y Tierra, which is a seabass and a5 wagyu taco. I'd recommend 2 or 3 tacos, or the combo meal which comes with 2 tacos, rice and beans and a drink. My favorites are the octopus and shrimp tacos. The rice bran batter on the shrimp and Mahi tacos are so tasty and hold well. Their mango salsa is also sososo good. Their vegetarian options are elevated as well. They have squash and mushroom tacos, better than some vegetarian restaurants I've tried. The couple times I've been here the wait has been longer compared to their other location, even before the Super Bowl hype. The space is limited and street parking can be tricky so I'd recommend taking it to go.

From the moment I pull up to the moment that I park it is such a vibe to come here. I'm not even following the bandwagon, but I was told by somebody personally that the food is good. So I went. I was not disappointed. The customer service is just exceptional and off the wall. You actually do not ever experience this customer service ever! anywhere you go. The staff member was not only polite, friendly and hospitable, but she just gave off a vibe how hospitality is something that is enjoyable. And that is something that is not experienced anymore now. And if you disagree with me, send me a message and we can have a battle. The octopus was so meaty and fulfilling and flavorful. The salsa were not spicy, but just enhanced all the flavors altogether. I will most definitely return and recommend.

Villas tacos focusing on fresh seafood! Got the chance to try their new location serving up some seafood tacos. The spicy creamy sauce with the fresh salsa with mango, onion, lime, and tomato paired so well with the freshly fried Mahi Mahi and Shrimp. The seafood is good quality. The shrimp are giant, plump, and not overly cooked but im not sure it's fresh since the texture of the shrimp is a little soft and not as bouncy but besides that's fact it's still a really good shrimp taco. I was really most impressed by the light and airy batter. It looked thick but it was light, crispy, crunchy, airy, seasoned and probably the best batter I've had that's en coated fish/shrimp. Was also super impressed with the handmade blue corn tortillas. They were soft but help their integrity despite the huge piece of shrimps and fish. Great vibes and friendly neighborhood service!

Villa's exclusively seafood only taco spot does not disappoint!! Randomly was in the area and stopped here for a bite. We had the octopus taco and grilled fish and both were incredibly delicious and unique!! Fairly priced for the quality as each taco is made to order, and interesting mix of grilled and fried options, some with a Japanese twist! We also had their oaxacan horchata which was a nice, not too sweet, alternative. There's a small bar for seating as well as a handful of tables around the corner! Will definitely be back to try more of the menu and highly recommend!! There is a combo plate avail with 2 tacos and rice/beans which looks to be a great deal if you are feeling hungry!

Not your usual taco experience. For one, you get blue corn tortillas as the base, and the fillings are next level. This location (#3) has a different menu than the others, with a seafood focus; things like grilled octopus, mahi mahi, dorado, mushrooms -- pretty wild options for tacos. My beer-battered mahi mahi was awesome, with a nice crisp outside batter and big chunks of flavorful fish inside, with a lovely hint of heat. Two tacos were more than enough to fill me up. Folks at the counter were super helpful and friendly, great service. Not much seating at this location, and a train nearby, so I'd advise taking it to go.

Taco Bell dares to be across the street from this.

The taco wars have been won and this fish-focused Villa's reigns supreme. The octopus is my favorite, but the Baja style shrimp and mahi mahi are no slouch either.

Finally made it to Villa's (fish) Tacos in HP! Hands down, a well made taco: blue corn tortillas, seafood options that are tender and juicy-delicious, and the hallmark of any taco -- great salsas! The staff is friendly and ready to prep your next great meal. Loved the fish tacos, pulpo was out when I arrived (soooo popular!), and the camote taco was perfect . Summed it up nicely with an horchata and a pepino drink. Street parking only so plan for that or tell your partner to get off and order at the window :p while you circle back! Also an excellent spot to carry your food over to the park and chill when in HP.

I liked it. Was craving some fish and shrimp tacos and this hit the spot. This Villa's Tacos specializes in mariscos. I got the camaron salvaje mexicano (shrimp), pulpo (squid), and taco dorado asado (mahi mahi). I liked all of them. I liked the thinner batter on the shrimp. The pineapple habanero salsa has some legit spice to it. 4 tacos was decently filling for a low-key fatty like me. Service was good. Friendly staff. Only one table on the side so not much for seating. It's probably better as a to go option. There's street parking but you might have to walk a block or two.

The menu is quite simple, but beware that no prices are listed on the main menu, but they are on the paper menus. They accept Apple Pay/credit cards. I ordered the asada burrito and the pollo caramelo and added the grilled poblano (as recommended on Yelp!). The tortillas were the true stars -- soft, nice chew, with a buttery mouth feel (probably lard). The fillings were just ok. The inside reminded me of a Taco Bell 7 layer burrito -- a lot going on but all the flavors kinda blend together. I (incorrectly) thought the beans were refried, but they are not. Whatever is going on inside, I didn't find much structure. The burrito was the best. The caramelo was a lazily folded burrito. I read that it was like a quesadilla, but I couldn't disagree more. I would skip this next time. I spent $25 and it was a lot of food, but I wasn't impressed, especially given the hype and the fact that LA should really be the pinnacle of Mexican food. Not sure if I'll make a second trip here.

Beautiful plants hanging, perfect Spanish music in the background (any place playing Natalia LaFourcade is a win). The drinks were great! I had the jungle bird which was fun. Food was so good too. The whipped beans are the star! We had the guacamole which was tasty, great tostadas with it. The arepas were good but the pork belly was a little too fatty (I know pork belly is always fatty) to the point the fat muted the flavored for the arepa a bit, but still delicious. The empanadas were great and as someone who lived in South America and ate empanadas every day, these really took me back to my Paraguay days. The squash blossoms were light and perfectly fried. Unfortunately my friends had gone to Funke the night before so they were comparing the squash blossoms and Funke won out, but they still liked Dama's! Small plates were enough for the 3 of us. They have recently amped up the filling in the delicious crispy squash blossoms and I love the acidity and heat. The fish is also a hit in my books. One dish that doesn't work for me is the lamb chops, which is a shame since it's my favorite protein. I've ordered them multiple times with clear instructions on temperature and have found them overcooked and tough. The beef tostada was just ok. Whilst I loved the pickled veg on the side, the beef was underseasoned. It wasn't bad - just not up to the standard of other dishes. The vibe in the place is welcoming and the restaurant is nicely appointed. We will continue to be regulars and it's really worth trying if you haven't been yet.

My favorite thing about these burritos is how "home-made" they are, the salsas and meats are fresh and taste like they came out of an abuelitas kitchen. I still need to try the crunchy tacos and nachos which look great, I recommend trying this classic establishment at least once if you're in the area.

There is a private lot but fills up, and there's also adjacent street parking. I love sitting at the bar and seeing the plate being prepared. Also love the open freezers so you can see the fresh seafood hanging. Another standout was the homemade hot sauces! Each had a distinct flavor from sweet, smokey, and hot so it was really fun to try. The ceviches and the raw cold dishes were my favorite, especially the scallop aguachile! SO GOOD. Would order that 100 times.

Order the Kanpachi taco: a shatter-crisp blue corn tortilla, molten fried cheese, silky buttery kanpachi, and a slick of smoky chili oil drizzled over top. The kind of taco you'll think about long after you've experienced it. You can't go wrong with the ceviches, cocteles, or aguachiles. The ceviche is bright with lime and the cocteles are lush and briny with a tomatoey kick, and the aguachiles hit with sharp citrus, fresh herbs, and it's a really decent amount of fish. If you're looking for a more traditional hot entree get the Filete al Cabrón: grilled sea bass with cilantro-lime rice, beans, and warm flour tortillas. Simple and so comforting. Fresh seafood can be hard to find in L.A., but Holbox does it like no other. Takes me back to Mexico City every time!
