I'm not gonna lie, this place had the worst French toast I've ever had. I got the strawberry rhubarb French toast. The rhubarb sauce was great but the French toast itself was not good. There wasn't enough cinnamon in the mix. It just tasted like bread and yolk. The eggs were good, the chicken sausage was good but man.. I don't know if I'd return back to this place. $20 on a French toast meal that I didn't even have more than 5 bites of because of how underwhelming it was. Very bland. Village Square Cafe is a great home style cafe restaurant. It feels like you are transformed into a old style 40's cafe. The music and decor complete the rest of the feel. The food is excellent! I had the veggie hash with sausage links and rye toast. The hash is a great combo of hash browns and veggies. The rye toast finishes the flavor palette. My wife had the very fresh berry waffle and she is in love with it. Every time we come here she gets the same thing. Great mixture of nutty flavors in the waffle and the whip cream and berries! This restaurant is always packed and it's hard to get around with how cramped the tables are together. It's a decent place to get diner food as their portions are huge and service is quick and easy. We made a reservation as we had a huge group of 8 toddlers in high chairs and 8 moms. We were too big to be seated together so we got split into two tables. I prefer Issaquah Cafe for the ambience but this restaurant is fine if you just want to go get something relatively cheap, American food and easy. I ordered the half portion of corned beef hash + almond crunch french toast. Both were very good! A lot of the breakfast options have a half and full portion option. The almond crunch french toast was crispy and delicious! If you order an omelette there, you have the option of adding hash browns and turn it into a scramble. If I wasn't gluten free I've heard that the pumpkin pancakes are a go to! It seems to be slightly pricy for what it is. And the coffee isn't very good . That's the reasons it loses a star for me. They sat us pretty quickly. The waitress forgot about my table not sure what happened. Took about 20 minutes for her to take our order. We had the berry waffle and cob salad, the tomatoes on that were slimy not good. We didn't get through half the salad it was wet. So my friends said this was there favorite place to have brunch and enjoy their weekends. and I'll have to say that I do not disagree. I absolutely enjoyed my experience here. Be mindful...there is most likely a 15-20min wait. So be prepared. Let me tell you why: Service - excellent. Super friendly staff and great customer service. We were asked about our experience multiple times...but not too much that our meal was interrupted. In addition, our drinks were never empty. They were on top of it. The server was also knowledgeable of the food and drinks. Definitely took their recommendation. Food- delicious! Every looked so good and it was American portions (so you'll get full). I had the chicken fried steak and the coffee shake. All delicious. And you know it's a great place when they give you the tin of leftovers from the shake to finish. Venue: diner style. So you got counter tops, booths, tables, but also an outdoor seating area. I will say that one improvement I would suggest is to fix the umbrellas that may be broken so they can open and block the sun. We had the umbrella down because it was broken. It would have been nice to put it up or not have it there because the umbrella was in the way of eye contact and conversations. Overall, I would recommend this joint and hope to return. read more

The Village Square Cafe has got an old school cafe type atmosphere. I can dig it. I had the Eggs Benedict and while the food was just fine (and very simple), the staff was great. I ordered a 1/2 order (LOVE having that option) and they accidentally gave me a full instead... but, when I mentioned it, they said they'll adjust the price if I don't finish it. Works for me! They were good at refilling the coffee and a breakfast for two came to just about $20. Nothing fancy or especially outstanding, but a good spot never-the-less. Have been here twice, both very bad experiences. The first i went with a friend and was never acknowledged. People came in after us that seemed to be regulars that were greeted by name and sat. The second time I placed an order two weeks ago for me and my coworkers, was told the order would be ready in 15min. I left work for lunch 20min later, got there, gave the name and then waited a full 30min to get my food. Watched people get seated, order and receive food within that time. Again most greeted by name, having full conversations. All with food in the window. Finally got my food with 20min left in my break, only to get a patty melt that was covered in sauce. The food in general was not worth the price point. No one ate theirs because we not any didn't have time but it wasn't good. Asked for a refund to rectify the situation. First called, they told me to email, I did, no response. A week later emailed again and still no response. Will be trying again. But seriously. Really wanted to like this place. read more

This place was packed at around 11am on Saturday. We waited for around 45 minutes before being seated. I tried to call ahead to get my name put on the list. They do not allow this. Once we sat down the service was pretty decent. We got our order in quickly. We got an scramble with pancakes, meatloaf sandwich off the lunch menu (It was already 12 anyways.) and the Chicken fried steak (ask for crispy hash browns! Yum!) We got our food within 15 minutes even though the place was jam packed. I think the scramble and pancakes were pretty delicious, very fresh and not too greasy. The meatloaf sandwich and Chicken fried steak were a much different story. They were both smothered with sauce, I usually like things more saucy, but the sauces were SO salty. I take my food pretty salty as well, so I can tell you they probably accidentally put like double the amount of salt here. The meatloaf sandwich was overcoated with sauce to where you couldnt really eat it like a sandwhich. You had to knife and fork it. The Chicken Fried Steak itself was good, crispy and tasty but the sauce killed it. Protip: Ask for your hashbrowns extra crispy. You wont #regret. read more

Village Square Cafe is our go-to brunch spot in the area. They have multiple locations and we prefer the Redmond one compared to Woodinville due to the larger dining room. Since we visit often, I don't really have a review from a specific visit but rather on our overall view of this place. The ambience is perfect! They try to invoke nostalgia and they have done an amazing job of it. Adverts, paintings, maps from the 1900s adorn the wall, reminding you of the times as they were. Its a nice trip down memory lane taking a look at these artefacts. We love the servers as they are warm, efficient and always make us feel comfortable. The menu is sprawling - with an amazing selection of omelettes, pancakes and some other brunch classics along with a limited lunch menu. We have only gone here for brunch and have always ordered from the breakfast menu. I love the Uli's chicken sausage and the kielbasa they serve with the omelettes while my wife is a big fan of the blueberry lime cream pancake. According to her - these are the best pancakes she has ever had, and I concur with her. The lemon cream is otherworldly and goes perfectly with the pancakes. Also - they are pretty flexible with customizing the sides you order with the omelette (my wife always customizes the pancakes and adds a hash). If things are so great, why am I at 4-star? I have had some burnt toasts, a white toast served instead of the sourdough, and I have had much better hashbrowns at other places. The omelettes are generally excellent though. I am pretty sure the toasts would have been replaced had I complained as the service has always been top-notch. Also - this place is very popular with the locals, so beware of the long wait times and make sure that you have 30 extra minutes in hand to account for the wait as that seems to be the average wait times on weekends. read more

We came to this restaurant because we were close by and yelp said it was good. I found it just OK. Maybe a step above you Dennys. It's your typical mom and pop breakfast lunch place. We ordered the standard things. Chicken fried steak. Not good. Gravy very clumpy and pasty. I had a half eggs Benedict. It was OK but the hollandaise was supposed to be homemade I don't believe it is. Kind of bland actually. Coffee was good. Place was very busy. After 18 months of passing this place, my husband and I finally went in to give this place a try. It was 10am, and already pretty full. We were waiting about 20 minutes to be seated. The waiting area isn't exactly ideal when there are tons of others waiting too, you kind of end up standing VERY close to others! When seated, we were approached right away. My husband ordered the M&M hot chocolate as we saw it seemed very popular. It was very nice, with plenty fresh cream... and yes FRESH, not from a bottle! We both ordered pretty much the same, some eggs, bacon, (my husband got some links), and pancakes/crepes. The eggs (mine overeasy, my husbands scrambled), were cooked perfectly. I think my husbands crepes with strawberries were delicious, but his side of egg & links was pretty small (especially for the near $10 price). All of mine was a good size, especially the 3 pancakes which were wonderfully made, shame I couldn't finish them. Their syrup is wayyyyyyyyyyy too watery. In general, the prices are surprisingly more expensive for the quantity of food you get. Service was good. Will go back for sure. read more
