This place is fantastic. For those of you familiar with Brazilian-style steakhouses, this is one gem hidden in the heart of the historic area of Irving. We stayed at the Jefferson Street Bed and Breakfast, who recommended this restaurant. They serve 7 different meats, which is at least half of the normal amounts you may get at Rafain or Fogo de Chao, but, the price is also half what you would pay at those establishments. Let us begin the experience: The Filet Mignon wrapped in bacon needs no introduction, just plain awesome. Their Bottom Sirlion had a fantastic flavor, with just a bit too much pepper seasoning on one piece but, altogether tender and flavorful. Their chicken, served by itself, was perfect. While a different style of chicken, wrapped in bacon, which they brought after, turned out to be their only loser. In my opinion, it was trying to ride the wake of the bacon's flavor without delivering on it's own. They also brought sausage, pork in parmesan and another portion of meat, all of which was good quality. You can keep eating until you turn the coaster's green side to the red, all you can eat, baby! Be sure to save room for the warm, cinnamon pineapple, as most people that reviewed this already spoke of this heavenly dessert. The mere smell of it is enough to draw you in, then the sweet flavor has you clamoring for more, no matter how full you are. I learned from past experience to skip the salad bar if you are a meat eater, you want to save room for the best stuff. However, if you must, this salad bar was decent. The potato salad is some of the best I have had. My wife really enjoyed it. They had a good, spicy salsa to dip the meat in if you pleased. Another small delight was their fried bananas that they brought, just a small snack size but, awesome! We eat at a Thai place in Richardson, that I thought had the best, but, these were definitely some strong contenders. As for the looks, it is a small, intimate restaurant that seats approximately 45 people, if they needed to. It is charming inside, with cool, historic photos of Irving dressing the walls. It is one of those you could dress up or stay casual without feeling out of place, either way. The staff here was friendly with plenty of smiles. Dropped a star after lunch today. The food was just as good as always, but the service was very, very slow. At times we sat with empty plates waiting for the next skewer of protein to come our way. I try to consult yelp before trying new places and when I read the previous reviews I had a better feeling about this place. However, I was madly disappointed. If you want to experience churrasco style dinning, then stick with the big boys. if your just unable to afford to go to those then I guess coming here would be an alternative. Id rather go to Golden Corral if I wanted a buffet style meal. However the meats served here were extremely good, I was impressed with the different selections and cuts and the way it was cooked. However I have seen better salad bars at Pizza Hut and the hot side bar had only 4 items and I was only brave enough to try one, the mashed potatoes and ive had better from a box. The place was nice and quant in an out of way fashion, the service was awesome but sadly other than the meats, it wasnt worth the price or the trouble. Again you can get a better deal at any of the local buffet places, Furr's, Luby's or the Golden Coral and even they offer good meat selections and still cheaper than this. We went for a friends Birthday Party, otherwise I would never have ventured out to Irving for this. We were back for lunch this past week. It was around 130PM and the place was still crowded. Proudly posted on the front entrance is a plaque for 2009 Best Cheap Eats in Dallas. What an accomplishment! Looking back at my earlier posting, I am so proud at where Villa's has gone. I could only wish for more years to come. 4 and1/2 stars This is and was so good food! The price is good our server was prompt and very nice, meant came around the table around the clock even when we had our cards down on the red side, the meat still flowed. I am so glad there our different choices to go to besides Texas Brazil downtown Fort Worth which I think is way overpriced in every detail. I've seen some on here complain about little selection of meats, I don't know many people that can eat over 20,30, or 40 meats that's crazy talk. Smaller feel, nice atmosphere, great place to be casually , dressed up or on a romantic date, just didn't feel like a number like at Texas de Brazil. Our classes were seemingly always full. The staff treats you in a very friendly and professional fashion, they even let us take home the fried bananas. Do not mess the Pineapple, it was an explosion of fantastic tastes in your mouth. Você fala português? I first found Villas Grill quite by accident a few years ago. I was getting my hair cut across the street and was told they were running late. I thought I would take a walk around the small niche that is main street. Across the street I saw a new restaurant that looked interesting so I popped in for a least some coffee and a quick peek. I was met by the waiter who found me a seat and I ordered my coffee. The place was decorated with large reprints of Irving circa the early 1900s. Seemed very nice. I got my coffee and I noticed the other patrons. Not many people there. A few were talking in Portuguese as was the waiter. I liked this place. I had my coffee and was back at the shop to get my hair cut. After which I called several of my friends to get a bite to eat at Villas. The waiter welcomed me back and was a bit confused but happy when I asked for seating for 10. My friends arrived and we had a great meal. The waiter then started to reveal more and more about himself, for instance that he was actually the owner. As well as many very entertaining stories about Portugal and it's many culinary delights. The food was great and we were immediate converts as well as endeared to the many fascinating stories. We came back often and had a very good rapport with that man. It was several months later when we returned to find that he was no longer there. When we asked the new waiter, he blushed and said that he was discovered impersonating the true owner. [Shock face pose] The restaurant since then has moved off a traditional menu to the Brazilian churrasco style. I can't say it is bad, in fact the food is delicious and I especially love the pineapple desert. I recommend you to go for a very filling meal, but I can't say that I enjoy it as much as I did before. Sometimes a lie is much more entertaining than the truth, as it filled both our belly and our imagination. read more

A great reasonably price Brazilian steak house nestled in historic district of Irving. This place was suggest to me by a good friend. We actually met at the place. At a first glance you'll see a mom and pops feel. The inside has nice pictures of old Irving. Light fairly dimmed giving a elegant ambiance, but it is a really causal place (yeah I know oxymoron). There was a salad bar that had pretty good verity, which was surprising to me. The meat was selection and taste was great. The food was not under or over cooked. Each piece of meat had the right amount of seasoning. The server was right there to give you more food when your tag was set to green. After all the meat was served they gave us slices of grilled pineapple. The grilled pineapple was excellent. I wish I could have more as I type this. The cinnamon flavor combined with the pineapple juice was a great combination. Well priced for lunch. All in all it was an excellent place to eat. Very reasonable priced brazilian all-you-can-eat style restaurants. As far as I could tell the selection of meats was as comprehensive as the other higher priced brazilian joints in town. It was $18.90/per person on a Friday night! My favorite meats were: rump roast, skinless chicken drumstick, and picanha. The salad bar was very basic but sufficient (I had spinach + feta,and some romaine). What i didn't like - the parmesan crusted pork was dry and tough and the bacon wrapped filet (bacon didn't seem fully cooked and/or it was soggy). I definitely give them a thumbs up for the yucca fries they brought to the table. And they also have the traditional mini cheese rolls which were tasty & chewy. um, did i mention it's BYOB!! Definitely worth a trip to Irving to feed your carnivorous appetite(or if you're on the passe Atkins diet ;)! read more

I went to lunch with some friends on Monday and as usual was not disappointed with my meal at Villa's Grill. I started with a salad from the buffet, then moved onto hot food...beans and rice, friend polenta, fried bananas, fried yucca and meat. The servers brought delicious sausage, picanha (beef), garlic beef, pork with parmesan and chicken legs to the table! We ended our meal with pudim de leite - which is similar to flan but much, much better - YUM! They also bring grilled cinnamon pineapple to your table - I didn't have any this time but it is very delicious and worth a try if you've never had grilled pineapple before. If you go for dinner the hot side items are served family-style at your table instead of on the buffet. It's a great place to celebrate birthdays or special family occasions. They also make very delicious Brasilian cakes that you can order for a celebration dinner. read more

Pretty good churrasco. Well, since this was my first Brazilian BBQ, I do not really have much to compare it to...but the food and service was good. The service - Friendly and attentive. Service starts off with a salad bar that consists of salad greens, pasta salad, and an assortment of side dishes, such as rice and beans, broccoli, and mashed potatoes. When you are seated, you are provided with a little card. When you want them to bring you meat, you turn the card to the green side...when you have had enough, you turn the card to the red side. Meat - 8 different varieties of meat, including sirloin, chicken wrapped in bacon, pork, and roast. The meat had a good flavor, not too salty, and nice and tender. For dinner the fare will cost you around $20 (including tax), but not including drinks, but I think it is well worth it the cost. Come hungry...leave happy! Would definitely come again. read more

I heard about this restaurant from a coworker and was pleasantly surprised. I've eaten at some of the bigger Brazillian places, and can't justify the expense for the amount of food I will eat. We take our daughter, 11, who just loves it! We love the variety of meat and the cheese puffs are incredible. We have been several times, and normally go early. The place is rather small, so I can imagine that the wait could be a sore spot. We've always made reservations if we were going to be there at a prime hour, or if we were going to have a large party. We have always had great service, other than our last experience, so I hate to say that is the norm. We had a similar experience to other reviewers in that the meat delivery seemed to always go to certain tables, although not necessarily large parties, and we waited and waited to get anything other than the more common stuff. The pineapple is probably one of my favorites! What a nice flavor. They are also BYOB, so that is nice if you like a glass of wine. read more

I'm always in the mood for Brazilian BBQ, just not always up for spending an arm and a leg for a more upscale atmosphere. My friend found this place - I'm very glad she showed it to us!! We paid around 11 bucks per person for the same cuts of meat you'd see at Fogo or any other more expensive churrascaria! The service is great; the servers are very helpful and friendly. Nothing can beat their value priced meal. They have fresh squeezed lemonade as a beverage choice, which beats that regular old fountain stuff from Minute Maid (gross). We aren't even from the Dallas area, but we went there enough this past weekend for my husband to become mayor on foursquare - haha! Definitely check this hidden gem out! The only con that I saw was the semi-long wait in between meat servings. I guess I don't blame them, since there was only one guy handling the meat. I kept holding out for their picanha cut, but only saw it brought out once. I'm used to having the meat just pretty much thrown at you as soon as you turn your alert to green. read more

Unfortunately I cannot really leave an in depth review about the food as I was not really given much. I was seated and watched all of the wait staff skip my table well over 20 times (yes, I counted) through the course of over an hour and offer other people meat. I was given a sample of everything ONCE and was offered a well done piece of picanha which I politely declined and was told more would be brought out, so I said I'd wait on that. I saw it come out, but just never make its way back to me. I sat there for 30minutes straight without a single member of the wait staff offering me anything but approaching EVERY SINGLE other table and offer them meat repeatedly and without them asking for more. Apparently there was a table there that the staff knew because that guy and his 2 guests were treated like royalty with the staff going there repeatedly with some of the higher end cuts of meat. They started eating before their drinks arrived because that's how quickly they were served. With only 8 other tables of 2, and the exception of one 3 top, I would have expected better service when you have about 4-5 wait staff. I had been sitting their for so long NOT eating that I was asked if my table could be cleared (salad plate) then asked if I wanted to order dessert or if I needed anything else so I asked the young man if it was customary to only give certain guests one sample of everything and never come back - as this is not what I'm used to when I've gone to other churrascaria's and lived in Brasil. He said no, and I told him, the reason I wasn't eating wasn't because I was done but because NOT a SINGLE staff member had stopped by to offer me anymore meat. He told me guests have to ask for it and I pointed out the guests whose conversations were being interrupted to be offered meat. And he offered to bring me some and I told him I was pretty much over it and had been ignored long enough that I didn't care to stay or eat anything else. He still brought over some meat, which I declined because at this point I'd rather just go home and make myself a sandwich. He apparently told a co-worker because another man stopped by with some meat and asked me what was wrong, but didn't offer me any steak. To which I reiterated how I was offered meat once and ignored for over 30 minutes and that at this point I'd just like to pay for the one small sausage, sample of garlic beef, picanha, and chicken breast that I'd had and leave. He brought me the check and gave me a senior citizens discount since I didn't get to really eat anything. Thanks for the worst service at a restaurant I have ever received Villa's Grill. read more

Villas Grill has been a regular spot for me when I am in town. The food is very good although sometimes extra salty. My favorite is the chicken drumstick and has to be the best tasting chicken I've ever had. The service is always great and often times the owner will come sit with us to talk and say hello. We tried it because of the Travelzoo deal ($29 dinner for 2) I did not read the fine print because when we received the check there was an automatic 19% gratuity on the normal cost for 2 dinners ($61) So I ended up spending another $20 with tax. Food was good but service was HORRIBLE! First of all we made reservations for Saturday, and called to verify that the TravelZoo coupon would work since it was the day before Mother's Day. We specifically called to double check and were told yes. When we arrived we were turned away and there was no management to speak to. Today we went in and had to stand up and ask for directions to the process, had to request the little red/green card, watched the gauchos serve other tables and then go straight back to trade out meats before ever offering us. We literally sat in that restaurant for 2 hours waiting on various things. They'd ask what meat we were waiting for - and then not come, and not come - so I'd get someone's attention and make a request...and wait...and wait. We've had better service at Cici's pizza buffet than here. The only reason I gave two stars is because the food was good. Will definitively not go back though. read more

My fiance and I visited this place after seeing a lot of good online reviews. I have never been to a churrasco type restaurant before so I thought I'd try it out. We went on a Sunday late morning. On Sundays, the place offered four meats: sausage, beef sirloin, chicken, and pork loin. My favorite was the sirloin while my fiance was a big fan of the pork loin. The salad bar was basic but very fresh and very good. I had some ravioli-type food from some of the extras at the salad bar. The sauce wasn't very remarkable but the ravioli filling was good. The flan was amazing! Loved the taste. The owner personally came over to talk to my fiance and me. He was very friendly and gave us some more information about what was happening in Irving. The only negative thing was what other posters have said: it takes a bit for the food to come to you. There seems to be only one person bringing the skewers of meat around, but it was worth the wait. If I'm ever in the area again, I'll definitely go back. read more

All things considered, especially the value, Villas gets 5 stars. Villas is Brazilian churrascaria located in the old downtown part of Irving. Similar in concept to most Brazilian steakhouses with a salad bar and buffet and servers bringing meat selections to your table (steak, chicken, parmesan pork, sausage, etc.). While the restaurant is nicely finished, don't expect the posh, polish and selection of some of the high end Brazilian steakhouses. That being said, the food is very good and it and it's probably the best lunch deal in all of DFW. Definitely a standout in S. Irving where decent restaurants are hard to come by....and don't forget to try the grilled pineapple...ummm! read more

After Fedora's, in Dallas, lost our reservation, I called Villa's and they were able to work us in immediately. Absolutely great meats but the grilled pineapple is my favorite. Just 2 stars bcuz the wait to be seated was very LOOOONG,when we got to our table we order the drinks, could you believe we were half way eating and the drinks were still missing? No need to say they are very short handed, when we were waiting for the table I had counted 4 empty tables (need to be clean) and lots of persons -like us- waiting to be seated. Staff is charming but the food is mediocre. If you enjoy excellent meat and bring your own wine, than this is the place to be. While the salad bar was pathetic and the side dishes just sad, the meat selection was superb and the price is right! We have been here multiple times. The salads are fresh and clearly hand made. The and sides are (specifically the MUSHROOMS) just delicious. The service is extremely welcoming. The grilled meats are absolutely WONDERFUL. The cost per person is very reasonable. This is a small restaurant. Not to noisy. Great spot for a date or double date. I have seen kids here--and they were absolutely welcomed--but don't bring mine here. Much more date-ish in my opinion. They are also BYOB. Absolutely wonderful. read more

I have been regular to this location where all the staff knows me well. I can tell over the time the service has gone from stellar to shit. Since being a regular I know their routine, meats, and servings etc. Now the problem is during lunch they have limited number of meats so recently instead of all you can eat, the servers just simply dump all the meats one time in your plate and be done with it. Wont come around for a second round unless you bug the shit outta them. I literally have to ask for meat that they have but wont bring out or for example grilled pineapple. WTF? This restaurant has been under my nose for the last 5 years and I was totally unaware until I found it on Yelp. Thank you again, Yelp, for finding yet another gem; perhaps even the best of the best thus far! We arrived at Villas at about 8:30pm as their website stated that they are open until 10pm Tuesday - Saturday, so I didn't feel bad coming in at that hour... the outside door corroborated their business hours. So... we walked in and we were the only customers.... YIKES! For me, that is a foreboding sign of disappointment. We were greeted by the very friendly and accommodating manager/hostess/server. We surmised at that point, that they were happy to have a customer.... any customer. As we came to find out, Villas is only open until 9pm, hence the empty dining room. However, in good form, our server welcomed us kindheartedly, she gave us the spiel of the Churrascaria and sent us on our way to the small, but oh-so-fresh, salad bar. There were hot items on a buffet to the side that offered grilled veggies, polenta, rice, as well as a couple of other items which I can't recall at this juncture. When we got back to the table with our salads, we commented on how good everything looked. No sooner did we get our napkins back in our laps that our waitress brought us as a basket of "THE BOMB" of all cheesy bread knots. YUM! Better than any we have had at Fogo de Chao or Boi Na Braza. To top that off, she delivered a tapas of cheese empanadas that boasted the most delicate crust and smooth, perfectly melted cheese. Just as we finished our salads and breads, the pasadore (meat waiter) started bringing out skewers of some of the best meats we have EVER had in a Brazilian-style establishment. We had about 10 different meats cooked to perfection that just melted in our mouths. This was so amazing to us since they were actually "closed" by the time we got our food. The staff were so gracious and eager to please; time was not an issue whatsoever. While we were enjoying our feast, 2 other tables came in, and even though Villas was "technically closed," these diners were not turned away... they were invited in with the same graciousness and welcoming smiles. We wish more businesses (especially restaurant industry businesses) treated their customers with this same gratitude and appreciation of our patronage. We were very impressed. Not long after our initial consumption of beef, pork, chicken and sausage we both were filled to the brim... AND THEN to complete our meal, we were served a delectable piece of grilled cinnamon pineapple. Just as we were finishing our pineapple, our server thought we might enjoy one of their desserts accompanied by a cup of their freshly brewed Starbucks coffee. Though tempting, if we had taken one more bite of anything, we would have certainly would have exploded!! Before leaving, I paid a visit to the bathroom... this can make or break a place for me. To my delight, It was refreshingly clean and tidy. Kudos! The only thing that was disappointing was that their website quoted the price for dinner was $16.90 per person, when it is actually $20.90 per person. I informed the manager of this error and she said that she would pass that along to her boss so that it would be corrected. It mattered not that there was a mere $4 discrepancy, it was well worth every penny of the $20.90!! This is the best bang for your buck in town!! It's a HUGE bargain for the great quality and service you will receive. We will be back for sure! I hope Villas will be around for a long, long time... My boy friend and I ate here for the first time on Friday at 1:00 PM. The restaurant was about half full. The buffet has some very good choices. The staff offers a continues selection of meats and chicken on long skewers. They carve off whatever you request. Found everything seasoned and cooked to perfection. I like beef med rare and boy friend wants his well done. The server was quick to respond, bringing out some well done right away. Our beverages were attentively keep full. They grill whole pineapples glazed with brown sugar. As they slice off the exterior it goes back on the grill for a new layer of glaze. It's impossible to only have one slice. As an openly Gay couple we sometimes hold hands across the table. We felt completely comfortable and sensed no negativity from the staff or patrons. The price is a little higher than the average buffet but I can't call it an average buffet. Found this to be a wonderful place to go and we'll be regular customers. read more

Villas is located in the small "downtown" area of Irving. I tried this place for both lunch and dinner. Around dinner time parking is a bit more difficult to find. During lunch it was super easy. The service here really isn't that great, but the food is good enough for me to want to come back. Recently it seems like they changed their plates to square super heavy plates. There's nothing wrong with the plates, I just don't understand why they are soo heavy. The salad bar here is small, as is the restaurant. They have salad options and hot entrees. Out of every Brazilian steak house I've ever been to, this place has the best black beans. Everything else at the salad bar is alright. At the table during dinner time you get mashed potatoes, bread and bananas. The bananas are seriously the best bananas ever!!!! It has a hard candied bruled outside and nice and warm with a hint of cinnamon. The meats here are good, my favorite is the lamb which has nice seasoning and I think they squeeze a little lemon or lime on it before serving. The pineapple here is also really good! This might be a smaller Brazilian restaurant but it is definitely up to par with others in the area. read more
