I have debated about leaving a review but a family member was just admitted to the ICU because of covid and enough is enough. I live out of state and always look forward to some holiday treats from Vin-Chet. Yesterday I want to get some pies for Thanksgiving but walked out empty-handed. The owner of the bakery was boxing up our pies with her mask down below her chin. When I asked her to please put on her mask and box up different pies, she laughed at me and said "what difference does it make?" I answered, that she may be asymptomatic which she laughed at again and said "I am not sick" (totally missing the point of what asymptomatic means). I went on to tell her I am staying with my parents and don't want to take any chances with their health, she again laughed like I was a silly little girl. I am not a little girl. As I said we left without purchasing anything. I would not have posted anything but people are getting sick and some people are even dying for this disease and if store owners think this is a funny situation and that masks are not needed WELL WORKING WITH COSTUMERS FOOD those customers have a right to know. read more

Vin-Chet is a staple GF treat provider in Buffalo. Is everything Gluten-free? yes. Is it good? well, that depends on the strength of your sweet tooth & the depth of your wallet. Their savory items (rolls, crusts, breadcrumbs) are all great and fine choices for the gluten-conscious among us, but their sweets are SO SWEET. I mean, cloying, nauseating, one-bite-and-you-want-to-vomit sweet. I don't know why they can't find balance, and I swear if they cut the sugar in half their items would be enjoyable, but I can't get past the sweetness... it's like trying to swallow a dry mouthful of granulated sugar. Everyone who works here is also very sweet, but that doesn't cancel out the cloying sweetness of the products they sell- for a rather high price. Their lunch items (prepared in house) are expensive and overrated. Occasionally they have a balanced cupcake, but that's usually due to a citrus flavor where the acidity naturally helps balance out the sugar content. If you're gluten-free and you neeeeed sweets, go to Kith and Kin Bakery out in Lockport. 100x better, balanced, and much less expensive. read more

A great little home town bakery and deli catering to the gluten free clientele. My brother avoids gluten and we wanted to grab a sandwich. We ended up here and I enjoyed a spectacular sandwich that would compete with any sandwich anywhere. No concessions or sacrifices made to eat gluten free. Delish!!! read more

I went to pick up my order today of cranberry orange muffins and blueberry muffins and when I got there, what do I see but double chocolate muffins and lemon poppyseed muffins! So unfortunate that the staff here doesn't seem to understand what covid-19 is! I used to love getting holiday baked goods here but since the pandemic started and the staff refuses to wear masks correctly around customers AND customers food, it's best to avoid this place. me and my family and friends have unaffectionately named this "the trump bakery" because of the proudly-displayed trump 2020 paraphernalia we saw when we went in around thanksgiving (even though they had trump 2020 masks they still weren't wearing them right) and just last thursday i went to pick up an order for christmas and the lady who waited on me at the counter and assembled my order was blatantly not wearing a mask or gloves. it's gross. it's unhygienic. and it recklessly spreads the pandemic. all businesses are required to tell their employees to wear masks and enforce that policy in new york state. did you not get the memo????? there is such little selection for gluten free baked goods in buffalo, it's such a disappointment to have to cut this one out. while their baked goods are truly great for being gluten free, the lack of basic safety protocol means that there could be just about any germs in your food and they would neither think twice nor care. read more

While the bakery's products are a good option for those on a gluten free diet, it is very concerning that the employees do not wear masks and gloves when attending to customers. We thought maybe we stopped in at a bad moment the first time this happened, but upon a few more visits to give them another chance, we found the lack of mask/glove wearing to be a regular trend with this business. I have definitely tried to go gluten free in my lifetime and it isn't an easy change to go about. But if or when that happens this place is around the corner and literally has everything! I have NO idea how it's possible that Vin Chet doesn't have a yelp review yet! They need one, so here I am to deliver it. Not only has Vin Chet been known for delicious baked goods for years (especially that Italian cake with the cannoli filling, i.e. cassata cake) but they're recently ventured into the gluten free world and run a certified GF shop a few days a week. They have gluten free products available Tuesday through Saturday in the freezer cases, as well fresh items towards the end of the week. My experience with the fresh stuff in summer is that yes, it does mold as quickly as regular bread - so refrigerate it! They cover all the bases of baked goods with the GF tag - almond rings and other pastries, rolls, breads, cookies, cakes, etc. My favorite product is the cottage bread - it's made with cottage cheese and toasts up beautifully. Their stuff can be found all over town including Dash's Market, Feel-Rite stores in the southtowns, Braymiller's Market, the Lexington Co-op, Lancaster Deli, and Leo's Elite Bakery in Rochester. Most of the GF stuff is made with Bob's Red Mill flours but unfortunately they also use canola/soybean oils in the breads so they aren't fully "paleo" or "primal" but for the Celiacs out there, they're pretty ideal. A few times a year they have tasting events and invite everyone to come by and try everything they make for free! Vin Chet bakery is pretty much a dream come true for a celiac sufferer like me. Gluten free baked goods can be hard to come by, especially ones that are baked in a certified GF kitchen. And usually your selection is limited. But Vin Chet has a wide variety of delicious gluten free baked goods! Donuts, almond rings, cookies, the works! They also have a small freezer where you can buy various types of GF frozen pizza, and many kinds of GF bread. I had a peanut donut which was light and delicious. It tasted like an actual donut rather than the heavier cake-like consistency that a lot of GF donuts seem to suffer from. I also had a chocolate peanut butter cupcake which was first of all, very large (not that I'm complaining) and really good. The peanut butter frosting had just the right amount of sweetness. I also got a loaf of bread and almond ring, but I've frozen those for later. If they're the same quality as the donut and cupcake then I'm in for a treat! My family was introduced to Vin-Chet from a family member of their family Lucy Spampata in the 1960's. We fell in love with what they made and it became a regular item on our table. The most special item was a Christmas Tree coffee cake that we always got for a snack before bed after midnight Mass on 12/24. I was given a beautifully decorated cake from Vin-Chet for my birthday. the cake was moist and delicious. I would say that it was probably one of the best gluten free cakes that I have every had. Many members of my family have a gluten issue for over 35 years. I thought that I would be going to this bakery myself until I learned that they do not follow the health safety regulations. In this day and age not following health protocol for food consumption is just unthinkable. An too not wear mask during a high transmission period of Covid-19 is just unethical. I will not recommend or go to this place of business. Nor will I be purchasing these goods again from their outlets. In this day an age when so many individuals need special diets to help with daily lives to keep them feeling healthy, its a shame that a place of business believes that their beliefs are more important especially when the ones that have the scientific knowledge of what is suppose to happen are shunned and ignored. I really enjoy this bakery. I will admit that I do not like all their baked goods (breakfast cakes). I will tell you that there are many that are delicious such as: peanut donuts (I cried they were so good hadn't had one in years), apple pie, cheese cake, lemon poppy seed bundt cake, pumpkin roll, yule log, holiday jingles (OMG so great), cupcakes with regular frosting and whipped cream frosting, cakes that are beautifully decorated, cherry pie with a crumb top (I prefer a crust top but beggars can't be choosers), pizza, and the list goes on. I have eaten in the bakery. It does take a while to have the food prepared but then again you know it is freshly made. You can sign up for rewards and earn free cupcakes. This is my new go to gluten free bakery. It is on the pricey side but then again All gf bakeries are. The people who work here are all great and friendly. read more

Their gluten free sherbet cupcake placed third out of eleven bakeries in a cupcake challenge. It's wonderful that Buffalo has so many options for people with dietary restrictions. The pizza dough (pre rolled out) was excellent, I've had many a gluten free crust. This excels all. I don't feel a need now to buy a second regular crust for my family when I make pizza, its that good. Pizza joints around here would be wise to serve Vin Chet. The sweets however could use a bit of a redo, I think they could make a better muffin, the donuts are decent, the chocolate cake is Very rich & tasty. It's true, it is expensive.
