This place is a definite Must on your list!!! As soon as you walk in you get a very welcoming feeling. I was asked by a waitress if I wanted a table or a seat at the bar.. Me and my friends sat at a table to eat.. We had the flat bread with arugala, filet skewers, rock shrimp, & the sliders.. The presentation was awesome.. Food was hot and delicious!!!! We seen that the table next to us had some type of homemade chips so we ordered those as well and they where as good as they looked!! After we wrapped up dinner we decided to go sit at the bar.. We went from excellent service at the table to even better service at the bar.. The martini choice was awesome!!! They were also mixing up drinks for us that they thought we would enjoy from our choices of martinis we had. I have to say the staff was incredibly friendly. We then moved to the dance floor where I was so excited to hear all the music that I love today and 10 years ago!!! The dj took all of our requests and never once got mad at the 4 martini drinking girls with lots of requests.. I see some above post that listed that they only have one washroom for each gender.. But as I was in line for only a second at the upstairs washroom I was informed by an employee that there were additional washrooms downstairs..Yes, there is a big washroom downstairs with even an area to touch-up at.. The Vintage Lounge sponsors a Baseball Team, consisting of grown men who leave all their beer cans, water bottles, and food garbage all over the field and dugout after their game. How do grown men trash a beautiful public park while wearing their sponsors shirt, or at all. Even saw 1 guy step on one of the beer cans as they all walked away. When Tricia Raymond, a rep of the bar, was contacted she said there was nothing they could do and they do not know who any of the players are (all wearing the bars shirts). Really? Stumbled upon this place while coming back from dinner in Little Italy. My date and I decided to check it out; had a cool laid back vibe. Definitely not your typical sports bar atmosphere. They have a very cool lounge area off to the side which looks great for hosting a party, plus a outdoor beer garden with big screens. Came back to watch game 2 of the Stanley Cup finals so the place was packed. Service was a little off but I'm attributing that to the crowd and the chaos. One of the manager's came up to us and apologized and ended up coming our bill for the night. Having been in the hospitality industry I completely understand that sometimes you just have one of those nights. Overall the staff was friendly and accommodating. We will definitely make a return trip on a not so crazy night to assess again. read more

Vintage Lounge, oh where do I begin. If it isn't for the beautiful establishment to the wonderful staff they have their food is where it's at. Not only is this place a good time to hang out with friends, enjoy great music and try an assortment of drinks but their food menu is to die for. Vintage definitely can bring in any type of crowd. I love watching sporting events on their huge TVS! no matter if it is crowded it is easy to see. Every time I walk in the place it just throws off such good vibes and everyone makes you feel welcome. Everyone is helpful and they make you feel welcome. I have been going there since they opened and now with the extension of their Patio with the flat screens watching games and even enjoying a night out never has gotten better. If your looking for a fun night out with friends or co workers or just to have a quiet lunch or catch a game then Vintage is definitely where it's at. I seriously love this place... The wooden architecture in there is beautiful. The patio is awesome with 2 big cabanas & some really cool chicago sports graffiti on the fences. TV's are everywhere. If ur looking to watch a game... This is the spot. Food is mostly bar food ...duh...it's a bar. But I love the salads & turkey burgers. They even have curly fries... My fav. Pizzas are a great app...thin crust of course. & everyday they have drink specials. Friday's are the best... $5 martinis...can't beat it!!!!! read more

All three of us are rather "high maintenance" (the dog the most") and the staff as Vintage was very pleasant and accommodating. Our food was delicious and came out fast. Talked to a grown man in a wheelchair like he was a child, slow service, made our table move, overcharged. The nachos were okay though. Details: Following a community meeting about disability access and political action, several of us went here to eat and have a few drinks. We had 4 people in power wheelchairs and a couple more with other mobility disabilities. Once we were settled and had food on the table, the staff asked us to move our entire table because they forgot they had that side of the room booked for a birthday party. We moved despite the difficulty because mistakes happen. Following that, we waited for a long time for our orders, which were not actually correct. We paid (overpaid, especially due to the 18% additional gratuity on groups 6 or more). Whatever, we left. About 15mins later, one of our members found out that his ride (a PACE van that can accommodate this man's wheelchair) would be somewhat late. It was nighttime, getting cold, and the man had no alternative in this case (a common problem we ironically had just discussed at our meeting). The man went back into restaurant to wait. At this point, a waitress asked him what he was doing there, and he told her. She said only paying customers could be there. He said he was a paying customer and had just been there. At this point, the man was clearly distressed. The waitress went to the security guard at the door, and I clearly overhear her say that there was a man in a wheelchair who refused to leave. The security guard walked over and told the man he had to leave. At this point, I decided to get involved. I had already been waiting with the man outside. I tried to explain the situation the the guard, but he cut me off and said the man couldn't wait there for 2 hours, "this place is going to get busy." He asked if the man was going to buy anything. I tried to explain that he had just been there, but the guard cut me off again before I could add that I would buy something for him if necessary. The guard said, "this is not a daycare establishment." Taken aback, I was speechless. I told the fairs that his was a grow man, not a child, and deserved his respect. I asked for the manager, because at this point I had no interest in buying anything. While waiting, I could tell that my companion was upset, however. I asked if he wanted to leave and he said yes. Luckily the smoothie place next door has a ramp, so we went in and got some drinks for the wait. I know one community that won't be coming back, and neither should you. read more

Poor service by our specific waitress. The entire staff stood at the bar and talked. I wanted a refill, and after waiting for 33 minutes, had to walk up and interrupt the socializing staff to give a refill. She messed up two orders, didn't know the menu, and took over 15 minutes to deliver a glass of wine. Wouldn't recommend if you're wanting to eat the same day you enter the restaurant. I've been to Vintage one other time but only for drinks. I went out with some classmates after a long day of grad school classes to be so disappointed. Vintage had poor drink selection, cold food, expensive food and mediocre service. The waitress was apologetic but still didn't make up for it. I went on a Sunday at the tail end of a Bears game. Wasn't very crowded (but the Bears were losing pretty good by that point). It was seat yourself, and there were plenty of empty seats. Though I grabbed a seat near a few other patrons. Despite their waitress coming by several times, no one said a word to me. I wasn't offered water, not so much as an "I'll be right with you". I have no idea who my server was. After 15 minutes I left. I've never been ignored at a restaurant before, and I have no intention to repeat it. read more

I've been here twice now. The food has been good, the drinks good, but the service has been awful. Went for lunch today, waited over an hour for GRILLED CHEESE. After much dining and many rounds of watered-down cocktails, the bill comes with a $15 tab for five orders of fries. Apparently, they cost $3 each. The fries are good but the staff very sneaky... and then the waitress says -- that's the first time anybody has complained about the fries -- making one feel like a cheap f**ck. Nope. Hopefully this was just a one-time thing but my friends and I had a TERRIBLE experience there. We were there for a party, and we all accepted the fact we'd have to wait in line since it was 11 and there were multiple parties going on (even though i think it makes no sense to wait in line to get jnto a bar on Taylor Street). Between the annoying girls behind us and the annoying girls inside knocking on the window I thought I was going to lose it. I felt bad for the bouncer for a little while, but he seemed to let himself get overwhelmed and started making bad choices and losing track of people leaving and going in and what parties they were part of (not to mention the fact that he kept letting his friends in). At any club I've been to where they're at capacity, the bouncer usually let's people in by GROUP not one by one, especially if the group is small, like only FOUR girls for example. Our group got separated twice which was just plain dumb. A bunch of people walked out, the bouncer had already checked all four of our IDs, then he opened the door, and as soon as only my sister walked in, he closed the door, and told us we had to wait for more people to walk out as if we were supposed to know and as if that made sense. So she just waited inside the door until one more of us could go in. Then some random girl came to the door to talk to the bouncer, called two girls to the front of the line, three or four more girls joined them, and they just stood in the doorway in front of my friend and me. It didn't help that they were the annoying girls who were right behind us the whole time. So the only people they ended up cutting in line were my friend and me. Ridiculous. When we finally all got in, we ended up leaving after 5 minutes since my two friends who we were meeting there already had a terrible experience, which included waiting 40 minutes to close their tab. Watching games here is great, especially with the huge flat screen TVs they have. Their menu has also expanded, and what I've had so far is delicious. I've heard great things about the Acapulco flatbread, and you can't go wrong with their daily specials ($5 pizzas on Thursdays are the best). I have a soft spot in my heart for pretzels, and you get a huge order of 4 pretzels for $8, with honey mustard and cheese sauce. The pretzels are soft on the inside, crunchy on the outside, and are buttery with tons of salt. The food may be a tad bit pricey, but you get a good amount of it to make up for the cost. read more

Right in the middle of residence area and very close to UIC campus. Mostly student crowd from UIC hang out here. It is a decent bar with decent drinks. Nothing fancy. They have a big dance floor, a section with seating area, and then the bar. Bartenders are very slow but make really good drinks. I had ordered the Long Island cocktail, which surprisingly I couldn't finish. Bacardi shots were really good and strong. They have good number of beers on the tap/ bottles/ cans. I loved the music!! They played hip-hop, pop, rock, everything!!!! Crowd just kept going wild. Fun, cool and chilled out bar. Didn't get to eat any food because we reached after 12. Drinks were watered down, wings arrived cold, cheese/fruit platter had spoiled grapes. Abysmal, non-existant customer service- we were basically ignored. Vintage has a ton of potential, but your experience will greatly depend on your reason for walking through the door. The decor is decent and has warmed up quite a bit since they opened. Speaking of, the place has changed a lot, for the better since opening last year. One steadfast has been the solid food, which is the reason I personally go. All of the burgers are pretty tasty, especially the pretzel buns. I like the rush st and blue collar personally. They are huge so plan on taking some home to Fido. A better deal is the tuesday special cheeseburger for five bucks. A standard burger with homestyle steakfries is a great deal and more than adequate for dinner. Use your saved cash for a four dollar domestic pitcher. All of the pizzas are decent and generally better than the local delivery with a special on thursday night. Thin crust with red sauce and choice of topping. The sausage and cheese sounds boring, but really hits for cheap. Others already mentioned the fried mac and cheese and fried rice balls which I rec. as well. I tried the vintage salad and was not impressed. Way too much effort put into jamming everything in the garden into one salad. Now that being said, I have had a few undercooked burgers served to me, the staff can be unbelievably slow, waitresses seemingly purposely ignoring you and the one other table occupied at any given time. I would give Vintage four stars except that they are consistently inconsistent. Room for improvement but likely to adapt, respond, and get more consistent. I would not go here to party though. Update 5/12/11: Huge improvement on many ends, starting with the great service (our waitress even remembered us), volume of speakers at reasonable level, and great atmosphere for game 5 of the bulls hawks series. I went for the Swiss Connection burger with Grunier cheese and was not disappointed (kudos for cooking it correctly as well). Given the $5 Matilda addition, and seeming growth in many different aspects iof the restaurant, I am oficially re-ranking you Vintage, Yay Im a fan finally, you have grown so much since last summer. read more

I've been here about 3 times on a weekday and once on a Saturday. The place is nice looking. The women's bathroom is ridiculous, only 1 bathroom with faintly frosted window! I had the Vintage Old School salad, ate it because I was hungry but it wasn't tasty, the citrus vinaigrette was too sour. Drinks are weak, stick to beer or wine. My friend and I walked in on a Saturday night and were immediately and abruptly asked "do you have a reservation cuz it's all booked." ...hostess clearly not cut-out for the service industry (is she the owner's niece?). This place is amazing I went there with about 12 people and we had all the appetizers and we tried all the different martinis everything I ate was out of this world I felt like I was at one of a Michelin stars restaurant and the drinks were so good . And the service was out of this world everything we needed we got we didn't have to wait for anything. We are already planning to go back next month and I think we might go back sooner because they also have a wonderful New Year's eve party my friend went to it last year and had a great time. read more

Food was not so good. Service was not good either. Music was very very soft. On top of that I forgot my sunglasses and called maybe 30 mins after leaving. I was told they were going to be put aside by the waitress and when I came back to get them, they had disappeared - as in they were nowhere to be found - ?stolen. The manager had not idea this was going on and because of this they were not responsible for the ?stolen glasses, which were more than $100 worth. Because of this reason, I will never be back and made me think the staff was very unreliable. VERY BAD PLACE AND REPUTATION WHEN SOMETHING LIKE THIS HAPPENS! read more

I was very excited when Vintage Lounge opened last summer, since it looked like it was going to be a nice place/fun-hangout that seemed different than most of the other places on Taylor. However, I have been about 3 times only to experience a mediocre level of satisfaction, and was extremely disappointed in my most recent visit. My group arrived for dinner at about 8:10 and was told there was a "mandatory coat check" starting at 8 pm. At this point there were about 10 other tables of people all sitting down to dinner with coats at their table, so we decided just to hold on to our coats, not wanting to pay for a coat check when we were only planning to eat dinner and leave, not stay the entire night. We were then told by two additional people that we had to comply with the coat check, including the waitress who somewhat rudely said, "I will be back to take your drink orders once you check your coats." I thought it was ridiculous that we should be forced to pay a fee to check coats when we were sitting down to dinner, particularly due to the fact that if we had arrived ten minutes earlier, we wouldn't have had to. The part that was most upsetting was that the staff was unfriendly and defensive in response to our inquiries of why we had to check coats, and instead we were told, "I know, people don't like it, but it's the manager's policy." I understand and would be happy to comply with a policy like this if it was a crowded club, but the restaurant was barely 1/4 full and was still full of tables of people eating, not set-up to be a dance club. Finally we spoke to the manager who told us we didn't have to do the coat check. I hated having to start off our dinner by arguing about this petty problem, but it was just the concept of it that bothered me--Vintage is a new restaurant in the area and it does not seem like they are making any attempt at good customer service nor expressing an interest to retain customers. I have heard this same sentiment from other people, including bad service from/unfriendly waitstaff. As for the food, it is decent bar-food with good portion sizes, but not really special enough to make up for the other problems. I want Vintage to do well and stay in the neighborhood, but only if there is an improvement in customer service and some indication that they care about their patrons. read more

Have been to Vintage for many different occasions.......stopping in for a drink after work, lunch to watch a sporting event or just drinks and dancing on the weekends. I have always had a great time and the wait staff, especially Sarah, have been nothing but phenomenal!! I am especially loving the new and improved menu! Cajun popcorn, humus, chicken wings, the old chicago burger, patty melt and the prosciutto flatbread, to name a few, have been outstanding! Looking forward to spending some time in the newly opened patio, which I've heard will have some great sunday funday specials! read more

Rarely is it as busy as (in my opinion) the crappy Drum and Monkey down the street. Good place to watch sports, hang with friends, or party. Stopped by to have a drink while we were waiting for a table at Davanti Enoteca. We were seated at a nice little table overlooking the street. Our server was pretty nice, and there were some drink specials despite it being a Saturday evening (I think it was because a UFC fight was going on?). My drink was really weak, though, probably because it was a drink special. I don't think I'd choose to come back here (would like to try the wine bar next time), but this was a nice way to spend my time waiting to be seated at the restaurant. read more
